Opinions de District 6 Gastrobar & Kitchen San Diego
I tried this restaurant with my work colleagues and we had a great experience. The food choices were elaborate (quite a few vegetarian dishes), ranging from Italian, Indian to Indo Chinese. We tried baby corn manchuria, hakka noodles, burnt garlic fried rice and panneer tikka. All the dishes were delicious, talk to your server about the spice levels though as some dishes can be a bit spicy.
Found this place as a happy accident because the kitchen was open late! The Szechuan curry with baby corn was really great. The bar tender tried to warn me (as I ordered it) that it was spicy, so I clarified “Szechuan spicy not chili spicy, right?” It had a little kick but not spicy imo! Wednesday and Friday they have live music, open mic, and karaoke!
Sooooo good! Flavors were beyond amazing! Can’t wait to go back! Our bartender Ani was amazing, drinks were strong and the vibes were great.

Friendly and attentive service adds to the overall enjoyable experience. Whether you're a foodie or just looking for a great meal, District 6 Gastropub and Kitchen is a top choice.
We went there again and it was truly a hidden gem!!! The drinks, the foods and the price are all great! The service is a little bit slow, so please make sure you go there for a no rush meal. Previous review- It’s a very nice place to have a drink and some Indian inspired pizza dishes. We were really impressed by this place. We ordered an Italian Pav Bhaji pizza, which is super special, and so delicious. It’s still cheesy like a pizza and definitely contains Indian flavor. I love it. There are some other pizzas I would try the next time. The cocktails here are great too. My hubby ordered a smoky Japanese whiskey drink and it comes in a teapot with all smoke inside. It looks amazing and he loves the taste as well.
Came here for a dinner with some friends after looking at the menu and all being very impressed with it. Definitely love the food here and come again! D6 Chicken Tikka Fries - So so good!! I was actually surprised but this ended up being my favorite dish of them all. Good amount of fries and the chicken tikka Masala on top had so much flavor. It went really well with the fries as well. Street Side Chow Mein - really good portion size and the noodles were so good even on their own. Szechwan Chicken - I asked for no mushrooms and extra vegetables on this but they did not deliver on that aspect. A bit too much gravy and they weren't as many vegetables as expected. Chicken was flavorful though. Cauliflower Manchurian Wings - And I was surprised by this one as well! So much flavor and it was hard to actually share this one because I could have eaten it all myself, haha. Butter Makhni Rigatoni - What a funky mashup dish. This actually came through with the Flavor of the butter chicken. And it actually went so well with the pasta! Italian Pav Bhaji Pizza - A little bit of a disappointment here. I was really expecting so much more in terms of the flavor of the actual bhaji that goes in the pav bhaji, but it just tasted like a bunch of things thrown onto the pizza base. Veggie California Love - was delicious! Just the right amount of toppings to crust ratio and a good flavor to the droppings and the crust as well. Everyone loved the drinks too! The mojito and
We first met chef Archana Nirwan over a year ago when she opened her first restaurant Naturally Desi in Rancho Bernardo and they've been our go-to ever since. So when she told us she would be opening another spot in my hometown of Mira Mesa we were excited to check it out! She aims for this location to be the first Indian-Fusion Gastro Bar of its kind in the area, and trust us when we say everything is so creative and amazing! We tried: 🧉 Nirwana Mule (alcohol) & Cardamom Mule (non-alcoholic) 🍸Bahubali Bubble (bartender got SKILLS! such a cool drink but I didn't capture the smoky bubble topper in a picture, just vid on Instagram) 🧆Golgappa Shots (appetizer - u pour the juice, vodka optional, into the crunchy cracker shell) 🌮Chicken Tikka & Paneer Tikka Tacos 🍕Butter Chicken Pizza 🥗Tandoori Chicken Salad 🍝Tandoori Chicken Spaghetti (so creamy and nicely flavored!) 🍩Gulkand Donut (rose syrup glazed!!!) HARD to pick a favorite but it might just be that spaghetti. The owner strives to create fusion flavors that are spicious vs chili heat, so you aren't left with heart burn pain. The restaurant space is really nice too and great for groups, so we can't wait to go back with some friends and try some more! 📍8242 Mira Mesa Blvd, San Diego, CA 92126 (Old Tapp Pizza/Indochin former Mandarin Garden location inside the Mira Mesa Mall)
Amazing ambience and yummy food is all you need for a beautiful weekend night. This restaurant is highly recommended not only because it's good food but also because of it's unique menu. As I mention unique, the pastas are a must try.. First, in San Diego to serve these unique and flavorful dishes!!!!!
Nirwana is intriguing, to say the least. Vey neo-modern-industrial Indian fusion gastropub. The food is authentic, spice levels real. The rebranded vada-pav sliders were perhaps the farthest from authentic. But the butter chicken, masala papad and golagappa shots were great. The golagappas were more rice cracker-like but it was a nice touch. The real star of the show the “hazy Devdas “, a cocktail made with suntory Japanese whiskey with smoked tea and bitters. Only on the cards for another month, so perhaps worth a trip even if just to try it before it fades into oblivion.
Pan asian flavored cuisine with perfect spice blend, the mango mocktails are recommended! Also has a nice bar with some week days of activities !
San Diego's first Indian gastropub is officially here. Nirwana is an amazing addition to San Diego's fusion Indian cuisine with one of a kind drinks and dishes. Don't wait ... go and try them out.

Just moved to the area from Northern California and love everything about this place! I had the tikki masala fries and I could not rave about them enough, mouth watering! So excited to try the rest of the menu! My first time was a Saturday night -cute little outdoor area, ton of tvs and a couple of pool tables. The bartender was amazing (I cannot recall her name but the bartender the next day[yes I went back two days in a row] informed it was probably Sarah). She was so sweet and hospitable, legitimately made my boyfriend and I feel like family. I went back the next day on Sunday to watch a football game. The bartender Raj was super kind and was willing to put on any channel needed for any football game. He was very attentive and kind even though I sat at the bar to watch the whole football game and only ordered a few drinks. As I was getting ready to leave Ani came on shift, I didn’t get a ton of interaction with him but what I had of course wasn’t anything less than amazing like I had with the rest of the staff. You can tell they are selective with their employment and pick the best of applicants!

I was expecting a more touristy vibe but found a surprisingly local crowd. The bartenders were chatting with regulars like old friends, which gave the place a warm and inviting feeling. I ordered a craft IPA that was crisp and refreshing. The snack menu was small but tasty — we tried the spicy nuts and homemade pretzels. This bar is great if you want to experience a neighborhood spot with character.
Had a great dinner experience. Had to wait a while to get the table. Ordered Pav-Bhaji pizza, Paneer Tikka pizza & Momos. Everything tasted delicous! The pav bhaji pizza was super duper good! Must try. Overall clean & nice service
Previously tappizza and inchins now changed as Nirwana. Just like new name the menu is fresh and new too than regular other indian restaurants.. I got excited seeing many new food in the menu. .Loved everything we ordered. 1. Veg hakka noodles 2. Malai paneer green salad 3. Kolkata Crispy bhel. Everything was well made and absolutely delicious.. quantity is very good too for the price . Though found a bit expensive side . As the quantity was huge and also everything was priced a bit more we couldn't try more varieties that's the only negative side. Yeah also no kids menu so had to order full noodles for my kid who wouldn't finish fully so we had to eat noodles too..lol..these are the few cons .otherwise a great dinner. Excited to try other new things in the menu during next visits. Absolutely recommend to try it. During next visit tried pav bhaji fondue. Which was AMAZING. do try ..
This place has a lot of potential, but it seems a little confused with its current direction. I'll start with the good parts: dog friendly patio, good spread of drinks on tap. It stayed pretty busy on the Thursday night we were there. I got the butter makhni rigatoni, I really liked it and it was only a tiny bit spicy. They did seem very friendly. It's cool that they have several pool tables. I also appreciate that they're open late, there's not a lot of places in Mira Mesa that are open late. There's a few reasons they they don't quite hit 5 stars. First, the menu is all over the place. Indian-American fusion, AND Indo-Chinese food, burgers and pizzas. It was just a lot to take in, I think a slimmed down menu would benefit them. The garlic bread that came with my pasta was dining hall level garlic bread, minor complaint but my wife regretted trading some of her garlic naan for it. Finally, service was friendly but a bit lacking. You're required to flag them down at the bar for service, but then they come to your table anyway. Had to ask for water a couple of times before we got it, not a big deal but frustrating. When they brought our food I had to get up and ask for utensils. Honestly, a lot of the issues I saw as growing pains. I hope they stick around and get more polished. The food was good, which is the most important part. I hope they continue to improve and find their way.
Finally tried this place. Probably a good place to meet up with friends as a starting place, but will want to go onto other places. Food is good and the variety of options means that everyone should be able to pick something, but the place lacks any ambience or comfort that wants you to stay around

Food was flavorful but the portion size was small for the price. Must try the paneer tika masala (Paneer was super soft, loved it) and garlic noodles. Make sure you give them heads up about your spice level. The atmosphere was nice and pleasant. There is a play area for kids right outside.
The menu is very different from other Indian restaurants and good. Food was unnecessarily oily and not spicy. Recommend to introduce spice levels. Kolkata Bhel is good. Pizza: Lots of cheese and mildly flavorful. Gulkand Donut is good 👌

The chicken masala fries are the bomb it's just not a good place if it's been really hot outside no airflow. The karaoke on Wednesday nights is cool. The singers are awesome.

I’m actually very disappointed to leave this review. This has been one of my favorite places in sd—really good fusion food and lots of options. However, we ordered the butter makhani pasta with paneer and it was given to us with chicken. Because of the very similar preparation of the chicken to the paneer we didn’t realize until halfway through and when we called over help they confirmed they had accidentally served us chicken. As a very strict vegetarian who has never eaten meat in my lifetime, this was unacceptable and I would hate to see this happen to someone with stricter dietary needs where it could be a difference of health or not. Management was very apologetic and we appreciated that, however this is just something to be warned of and very disappointing considering I was hoping to frequent here but now I don’t trust the establishment. If you don’t have restrictions the food is great and the staff is also very friendly and helpful!
Hit the trifecta. Awful Food, awful beer, and awful service. Tap beers were flat Food was ultra bland. I didn't think someone can get garlic breadsticks wrong. Apparently I was wrong.. Service- One of the most aweful services I have seen. You go to the bar every single time to order anything. The bartender doesn't know any menu items, can't make any suggestions, is not present to take your order lot of the times, and then starts preaching this is how it works in sports bars. Umm, not really- ask me how I know
