Taco salad was so good especially with the salsa. She'll was flaky and so fresh. Scooping up the salad with the crispy flaky shell was delicious. My waiter was kind and efficient. Salad would serve two people. Well worth it.
Another visit to Rudford’s and to hopefully Katch one of my “colleagues”, if you will, real-life classmates from culinary school. He was so friendly greeting me in the parking lot. Dunno quite what he was doing out there. It has been some time since we last spoke. Nick is quite the guy. Congratulations on his successes. Inside decore is always entertaining. It’s hard to believe this place has been operation since the days of President Kennedy. Happy 75th anniversary. Food is always huge servings of darn near anything an American diner should have. I don’t think anything is left out. I feel Rudford’s menu puts the Cracker Barrel to shame. I think the menu is even more diverse than Cheese Cake Factory. I mean, who has an abundant open-face Hot Beef Sandwich? I had to find out just what it was so I ordered it. The wife had a super good, anticipated BLT. Fries were abundant, properly cooked and served with just the right amount of salt. 👍🏼 A bad ass venture again to this historical hot spot. Free parking in back. Continued successes. CritDicks
Everytime the bar closes we always come here and always ask for Aiden. He is very attentive. Good at handling large groups and dealing with drunk customers. Our food is always a 10/10. The staff here never misses
Food was great! Staff friendly and understanding. Just had oral surgery and they made acomidations right away to assure can eat comfortably. Best part is that I didn't request any special accommodation they just new what needed to. Bathroom needs cleaning. Tiles are dirty
I’m 3,000 miles from home and all I wanted was something that tasted like the food I cook in my own kitchen and that’s exactly what I got. I had an open-faced roast beef sandwich on toasted rye with hash browns. Simple, uncomplicated, and perfect. No gimmicks, no “elevated” nonsense, no tiny portions with sauces I can’t pronounce. Just real food done right. It honestly felt like eating at home, and after a few days of travel, that meant more than I can explain. If you want honest, comforting food that actually satisfies, this place delivers.
Best place for breakfast and quick lunch/dinner.This is a historical Restaurant that takes you back in time. If you are visiting San Diego, I highly recommend that you visit this restaurant. Quick service, very reasonable price for the good portion of food they serve. I felt like, I was having my breakfast from the comfort of my home. Thank you so much for the care and attention you give your customers. I hope to be back soon.
Such a fun diner to go to. The vibes and the customer service were amazing. I ordered the hot chocolate and the famous chicken and waffles. Hot cocoa was yummy, but the chicken and waffles were alright. Kind of dry. I would definitely go back just for the service, and maybe try some of their other dishes and desserts.
This place is open 24hrs. The portions are pretty big and the food is good. My ultimate favorite item to order here is the strawberry milkshake! it is one of the best shakes I have ever had. They make it with real strawberries which is the best. I am also very fond of the tuna salad sandwhich.
If you happen to be in the area or just came back from TJ or Rosarito, you gotta try this spot! Diner lovers will LOVE this iconic family owned and operated restaurant. I had a burger that was epic! They also have a monster burger challenge, and they you 30min to finish it.......deadly! The food looks and tastes great, the portions are spectacular, and the place is open 24hrs! The shakes are like when you go to "Bob's", you get glass plus the metal container with another "almost full shake" inside. Aw yeeeeah! The regular size burger is beautifully cooked and is a very hefty size, i have no idea how someone can actually finish the "Big Nick Burger". Definitely stop and give it a go! (Check out the wall of fame and the various objects in the restaurant).
I just had such a fantastic time at Rudford’s. Seriously, the service was amazing. Shoutout to Anthony for being so on top of everything. I went with the chicken fried steak, and let me tell you, it was perfect. Crispy on the outside, super tender inside. Plus, the house salad was cold and so fresh. This place never disappoints! If you’re looking for a great meal, you’ve got to check it out!
I love an old school diner, and this gem has been around since 1949. I also love counter dining, and this has quite a bit of that! There are booths as well. The look and feel of the place are so cool! This place has quite a few regulars, so it's got to be good, and it is! Watching the food come out from the back prep area is nothing but amazing. There are a variety of options on the menu and the food is really good. The servings are of generous proportions. You have to check this spot out, especially if you like an old school diner with delicious food and an awesome ambiance. Looking for a place to go, this is it, drop in, grab a stool, and enjoy! We'll see you there!

I love the food and service. I have been coming to Rudfords for 45 years. But….. Please take more care when preparing pork chops as to not overcook. They are tasty but could be more tender.

I love coming to this place. The staff members are friendly. My compliments to Luis, Ana and Tony. Keep the great job. And thank you for always having a smile on you .

Friendly, attentive staff. Our breakfast was delicious! I had bacon, scrambled eggs, O'brien potatoes, toast. My friend had bacon, eggs, blueberry pancakes. Would recommend this restaurant!
Fantastic breakfast spot. Completely authentic atmosphere. Big and generous portions and refill on coffee, cold brew and limonade. Big og good tasting pancakes.
Great Place to grab a bite. Prices are fair and the food was very good. Portions on the smaller side but fair. Definitely worth a visit. Only reason not a 5 star, waitress was almost non-existent. We had to flag her down for everything. Other than the initial greeting, we had to ask her to take our order, get refills of water and iced tea, placing a second order, getting to go boxes and to get our bill. Not once did she come back just to check on us. As we were leaving, she was too busy talking to her co-worker at the register to say "Thanks for coming in" or "Good bye."
A classic American diner, this good standby is 24.7 and you can always get a decent diner meal. Parking is readily available if you get there early. The funky atmosphere is good for the soul. Don’t bring high expectations when you visit a diner, just plan to relax, listen to the juke box and enjoy good old fashioned plain American cuisine.
Rudford's offers a great nostalgic trip back to my childhood. It is a classic 1950's, 1960's diner. With seating options of tables, booths or the counter, this 24 hour a day restaurant offers traditional Amerixan diner food, large portions, reasonable prices and friendly service. While others in our party ordered chicken straps, burgers, fries etc.. I almost jokingly ordered the New York steak dinner. I had reasonable expectations, it's a diner, not a 5 star restaurant. The meal came with garlic bread, mashed potatoes with canned gravy, a choice of vegetables (green beans or peas), and soup or salad. I had the bean soup, appeared home made and was enjoyable. The real surprise was the steak. I love a good steak and am used to spending 2 or 3 times as much for a steak as my whole dinner at Rudford's. It was a large cut, I am guessing 12 oz. It came out a perfect medium rare. I'd venture choice grade, not overwhelmingly flavorful, but still a good steak especially for the price. Overall a great time, friendly staff, they were very busy, so service dragged on occasionally, but nothing worthy of complaining about. We left very satisfied, having had a good food and a good time. A step back in Americana. I am looking forward to t Visiting again to try their breakfast options.
One of, if not the, oldest diners in San Diego. This 24 hour diner on El Cajon Blvd in North Park is really popular for many reasons but for some reason I had never tried it until this past weekend. I say that as someone from San Diego whose family has been here since the late 1980s. Inside is very large and has many different seating options from booth, to counter, to table. Our server was very polite and everything that we ordered came out very fast. They have a very large menu with all sorts of diner classics on it. There’s also a large free parking lot attached so parking is easy to find. The only issue we had was that the food itself was not the best, it was not bad, but the experience was better than the food. We started off with a Cinnamon Roll and thought it was pretty good, but it was not gooey enough in my opinion, and it was overly large in size but was not large in flavor. For my meal, I chose the Chilaquiles with green sauce and even though I love spicy food, I thought they were overly spicy and my eggs were a bit overdone. It is diner pricing so it’s not really a big deal but I would like to try again to see if I had a one off experience. I would suggest if you are in the area or are interested in San Diego dining history.
Open 24 hrs, located in North Park on the corner of El Cajon Blvd and Kansas St with a small private parking lot. As we entered, this All-American Diner took me back to the 80's, lovely! It appears that they have a self-seating policy. The restaurant was clean, organized, fully staffed, and has outside seating. We visited this Saturday morning, so it was busy. I had their 'French Toast breakfast'. The toast itself was delicious; thick, with a rich, yellow color, but the bacon was overcooked and dry. My coffee was a little too bitter for my taste, though some creamer fixed it. My cousin's 'Classic Benedict' was prepared well, but we both felt it lacked flavor. Service was good, every staff member was working hard. Our food runner was very friendly as he delivered our meals. Despite the busyness, the staff did not rush customers. Overall we had a good breakfast experience here and will be back to try their 'Chicken & Waffles' and lunch menu items as I kept eyeing their delicious looking, big burgers!
8.5/10. If I want a nice casual brunch spot I come here. I usually get the Monte Cristo which is not on the menu but the staff have always been very accommodating with special requests. I've also been here late at night and I believe I got the bluecheese burger last time which was also a great option. Parking is tight at times but everytime I've been here I've been able to find parking in their free lot or on the street late at night. This place has been around forever and it has cool vintage diner vibes.
This place is awesome and always open! The schedule makes it ideal for anytime of the day and for everyone. I ordered a Swiss mushroom sandwich which wasn't amazing, but the meat was good and cooked to exactly how I asked for. I would rather go for a basic burger next time. Their fries are just fries, nothing special. Come to think about it, the price is the only downside as a burger should not cost over $20(especially at a diner). The place is really nice, and true to its established by date. Everything is vintage and well kept. You might smell a dampness from their constant cleaning but that's about it. The floors are clean and they clean tables frequently.
Food delicious large amount. Freshly cooked in a timely manner. The only issue we requested a refill of beverage never got it. Restaurant super clean.

One of the few options outside of Dennys for dining in late, open 24/7. Alway seems packed at 11pm. Ordered the Kansas st burger with a side of onions rings and my brother ordered the chilaquiles. …
Very good food. Service was outstanding. Really nice interior. As with every business in the area, there is not enough parking. Rudfords has a really nice menu with a lathe variety of food.
Iconic San Diego dinner was very busy when we went and the food wasn't that great. I had to send my pancakes back because they were cold. The service was poor at best but it was busy. Best part thing was definitely my wife's biscuits and gravy.

Thanks for cleaning the floors with a strong smelling detergent within a few feet of my table while I was eating!
This poor excuse for a restaurant should have been cited and closed decades ago. The high prices are ironic for the stuff they sell to eat. Forewarned is forearmed.
Really disappointed with our experience. We visited last weekend and had to wait a long time just to get seated, which would’ve been understandable if the place was packed, but there were plenty of open tables in the back. Unfortunately, the food didn’t make up for it. I ordered a patty melt and it was honestly the worst I’ve ever had. Super dry, overcooked, and just lacking any flavor. Definitely not what you expect when you’re craving classic diner comfort food. Overall, long wait, confusing seating situation, and a really underwhelming meal. Wouldn’t go back.
We use to love coming here after a padres game late night. But it seems like the last 3 times the service, the food has been getting worse and worse. We decided to take a break for a couple months and came back last night hoping for redemption. Terrible, worse then how sorry the padres played that night... Our waitress took a while to come to our table even though she usually handles business normally. We ordered omlettes and I couldn't even eat it. It was so overcooked and burned that the eggs tasted like rubber. The potatoes had zero seasoning. It was a $19 plate of trash. Upon reaching the register to pay I mentioned to the cashier my disappointment of the burnt omlette only to be met with a scarstic smirk and remark by Chance (yeah that's the guys name) "aww, I'm sorry , did you want me to do something about that?" The face and gesture of "oh well" and taunting was infuriating. I wooo saaah'ed myself paid and left. I took a final "Chance"on Rudfords. They are over priced for low quality food and rude staff with chips on shoulders. Should have went to Denny's. Please Hire people with customer service and professionalism... especially someone who knows how to make a decent omlette. P.s The bathroom is disgusting. Picture referenced shows my burnt omlette and my kids scrambled eggs to show side by side comparison.
My friend warned me not to come but wanted to give it a try. The counter did not have enough leg room we requested a booth, the booth seats were not adjusted. My friend suggested me to leave within 15 minutes to leave since they weren’t taking our order but then I was curious to try so we had to wait another 15 mins just to get our order. They were out of stock with mozzarella sticks I ended up ordering onion rings. My friend ordered a turkey sandwich, the onion rings were tasteless but I felt worse for my friends turkey sandwich 🥪 where the bread was so bland, he mentioned he could of made a better sandwich at home. This place has been there for years and lately it seems like it has been going downhill with its service and food.
