This is an excellent place for a unique experience with your date or some friends. After you find your way through the secret doors and step foot inside the bar, it feels like a time warp or a sort of escape from reality. The 3-course experience includes a starter of champagne to preface the cocktails. The mixologist will come to your table and go through with each guest the type of flavor they like or want and then present you with a high quality custom cocktail. The experience is slated for 1.5 hours but as long as it's not too crowded it seems like it's a soft deadline, so don't feel rushed. $50-65 per person is a very fair price for the entire experience and I encourage anyone who likes cocktails or exotic flavors to give this place a shot. I paid $114 for two before the tip.

No menu. No problem! The two behind he bar is the definition of a mixologist. You tell them what you like and what you don’t like, and they will craft a cocktail put a smile on your face from ear to ear. Everything about this place was perfect. The vibes, ambience, Decour, the entrance, the staff, and, of course, the drinks. This was easily my best experience while in San Diego and even California. I had a fantastic time and will be back every time I come back to the area.

A fantastic cocktail experience!!! Highly recommend this for anyone who loves exotic and novel cocktails.

This was a great intimate cocktail experience. There is no menu. Your bartender gets to know your pallete and crafts 3 drinks for you. Come with an open mind and make sure you make a reservation!

If you are coming to San Diego and like cocktails you MUST COME HERE. Talk about such an amazing and different experience. This is a speakeasy bar a bar called Neighborhood, you go towards the bathrooms and there is a big keg wall which you enter through. Behind the keg wall is a mirrored room where you can check into 1 of 2 speakeasies - Noble Experiment or Young Blood. The entrance to Young Blood is behind this drink refrigerator and it opens up into this gorgeous cocktail bar. The way the cocktail bar works is that its a fixed cost ~65 dollars a person and you get 3 drink. There is no menu the mixologists talk to you learn your preferences and then make drinks based off what you like. The concept is you get an appetizer drink, main course, and dessert drink. As you can see in the pictures we started off with these light airy drinks, they then moved into a heavier more spirit-y drink, and we finished off with yummy dessert liquors. I highly, highly recommend this place to anyone that enjoys cocktails and unique experiences. Book early as they are packed most nights AND know this was like a 2 hour experience so budget time accordingly. You will walked out super pleased with the experience and definitely buzzed!

Speakeasy cocktail bar inside of Noble Experiment Restaurant. It's a good concept of a tiny but impressive bar with amazing lighting and design details hidden behind a door made with beer kegs. They don't have a menu, you tell the bartender a spirit you want and a flavor profile and let him surprise you. Like expected the cocktails are remarkable, not cheap at all but what'd you expect!

If there were more stars, i'd give them more... Incredible concept! A speakeasy within a speakeasy within a bar. Exclusive yet unpretentious and laid back, they're all about the experience and the cocktails. Reserve in advance, it's a timed 90-minute / 3 cocktails (+ champagne to get you started). No menu, just a flat rate per experience and the bartender prepared whatever your flavors and cravings demand. Kind of an Omakase of drinks but with the added value that you can also participate a bit: if you like Ancho Reyes they will sure add some, or some flowers or candy, whatever you see you can get. The setting and concept are just great. The cocktails were delicious and they delivered with high-end quality and craftmanship. Not the usual brands but you can get to know new ones and they of course prepare their own bitters, cordials and fresh garnish. Even the bathroom is great. The service is amazing from the host to the server to of course the mixologist (I think they rotate them everyday). Just have to go! Plus if considering all you get, the price is very reasonable. It is an experience though, not a "bar". Great job guys! Must visit, will be coming back.

Outstanding cocktail lounge with a personalized (and somewhat quirky) flair. The staff expresses genuine interest in guests’ tastes to prepare curated drinks that make for an enjoyable evening - and taste great.strongly recommend this experience.

Pretty fun cocktail experience. I would say that the cocktails were not the best that I’ve tried, and I feel like the bartenders could tailor them a bit more, but overall was a fun night even considering the very steep price.

A hidden bar within a hidden bar! A different kind of experience! First your seated and brought complimentary glasses of bubbly. Then the 90 minute curated experience begins with the hostess chit chatting with you about they types of drinks you like (fruity, sour, liquor forward) and they bring out the first course based on that convo. She comes around 20 minutes late and discusses more about which direction the flavors and liquor should flow. Then comes the second course. Finally the third course can be a decadent, desserty drink or continues in the direction of flavors and liquor. The Sherpa was my favorite! And these aren't just random drinks; they wipe the glass with mint, or rose or or fruit and add bitters you have never heard of, etc. Definitely worth the price and worth checking out!

Youngblood in San Diego is a hidden gem with outstanding service. Andrea, our magical expert bartender, truly made our anniversary special. After sharing our tasting preferences, she crafted magical, well-balanced drinks that made our celebration incredibly exciting. The personalized touch and attention to detail were exceptional. Highly recommend!

Great spot with amazing food. We had the prawns, new york steak, and gnochi all of it great! Indiana our server sure our experience was over the top great, she is what made our experience 5 stars. Thank you!

Such a cool experience. The ambiance is quiet and personal. The bartenders sit down with you to really understand your preferences, even if you're like me and can barely articulate which spirits you like. Even with little direction they were able to make a flight for me with a fruity cocktail to start, a really delicious Old Fashion, and for the last round they just asked me for a dessert I liked (lemon bar) and made a yummy drink that was right on. I went with two friends and we shared sips of each of the drinks, and all nine were superb. If you're in for an intimate night out of custom made drinks, I feel it's definitely worth the price tag.

It was an amazing experience. The courses were amazing and the staff were even better. I spilled a portion of my drink and they came back with an amazing shot. They’re very detail oriented as well. Highly recommended.

You know it's good when the toilets have a bidet and warmed seats 😳 Quite possibly the best speakeasy I've visited in a long time. The drinks are masterfully crafted based of your spirit preference. I didn't get the same drink twice, and all the drinks that came to the table were amazing. You also can't beat the ambiance inside the speakeasy. Absolutely 5/5.

It's very hard to get a full 5 star review from me. This place is absolutely the best craft cocktail experience in San Diego. It is a small speak easy so make your reservation in advance. The size gives the mixologist the opportunity to focus on creating an experience to remember. Zack was who helped us and his skill was phenomenal!

I really loved this speakeasy! It was an amazing mixology experience. They have a 3 course cocktail menu and one of the drinks you get made specifically for you based off a conversation you have from your mixologist asking some questions and figuring out what you like. The experience was really cool and the vibes were great. Really loved the ambiance and the decor in this little bar. You definitely want to have reservations because there are not many seats. The staff were really great. We initially got sat at the bar but asked if we could move to the booth that opened up and they were very kind and accommodating. I enjoyed my drinks and they even give you a few snacks to nibble on. I unfortunately didn’t get to my last drink because I had somewhere to be but that did not take away from my experience! I will definitely go back again. Very cute swanky place for a date night.

Such a unique and memorable experience! I loved the idea of having a three-course cocktail menu — it felt so creative and personalized. Instead of a fixed list, the bartender asked about my taste preferences and crafted drinks that matched perfectly, which made the whole experience fresh and fun. The cocktails themselves were delicious, and the interior design was beautiful. If I could suggest one thing, it would be nice to have a few small snack options to pair with the drinks, since the standard menu includes three cocktails. Overall, a fantastic bar that I’d definitely recommend!

Youngblood is an excellent speakeasy with truly impressive mixology. You enter through a great neighborhood bar, and once inside, the experience feels intentional and intimate. The pricing is fixed and the experience runs about 90 minutes, which actually makes it feel relaxed and unrushed. Be prepared to talk more about yourself and what you enjoy rather than ordering specific drinks — the expert craft mixologists completely take the wheel from there. Every cocktail is custom and carefully crafted, and you can tell the team really knows their craft. We liked it so much the first time that we came back with friends, and it was just as good the second time. If you trust the experts and enjoy a personalized cocktail experience, Youngblood is absolutely worth it and we’re traditionally whiskey / bourbon lovers.

Great cocktail flight experience. 3 courses, of which the first and last are a fixed menu, the 2nd course is curated to your palate and taste. Also served multiple "palate cleansers" between rounds, which were delicious! About $85-90 per person.

Such a wonderful experience with the drink ‘tasting’ menu. My fiancée and I were over an hour early for our reservation but they accommodated us with no issue. The complimentary glass of wine is always a nice hospitable welcome. Zach was a true bartender and enjoyed the process of understanding our drink preferences. I can honestly say I had two cocktails that were so unique and not like anything I’ve had before. I love putting the trust in the bartender and this was the perfect place to do that. To make this the best experience, really explain your favorite tastes, types of drinks, and things you are interested in. The more feedback you provide, the more interesting your drinks are going to be. Highly recommend, and what a way to start vacation.

Youngblood is one of the harder bars to get into in San Diego. Reservations are recommended since they book up two weeks out, but my wife and I got lucky. We walked in, waited about 10 minutes, and got seated. It’s tucked inside another bar, Neighborhood, hidden behind a wall of kegs—super cool and easy to miss. There’s no menu; the bartenders just ask what you like and create custom drinks. At about $20 a drink, it’s not cheap, but the quality and experience are totally worth it. The vibe, decor, and staff are amazing. If you don’t have a reservation, you can take your chances, get on the list, and hang out at Neighborhood while you wait. Definitely worth a visit!

Yo - if you like your cocktails and want to check out a super swanky spot - plan a couple days ahead and make a reservation to get in here. Went with a friend and we had such a good time. Great drinks - friendly staff. We were hesitant that 4 drinks would be WAY too much to have without also eating alongside it, but the team works hard to balance the alcohol content of your drinks. We each went different avenues for drinks and were impressed by all the selections brought to us. A very memorable experience.

I had a great experience at this speak easy this weekend. The bartender will go through different flavors with you so that you can build your drink so to speak. It was simple because you just select what flavors you like as they list them to you, and they create all those flavors for you in 1 drink. I was so impressed with the outcome it was suuuuper delicious!!! I got a spicy-citrus-fruity-mezcal cocktail and it couldn’t have been better choice for my taste. I absolutely loved feeling the spicy sting on my lips after each citrus-fruity sip! So props to the bartender for that! I also loved that they don’t disproportionately drown out the flavors with the liquor, it was actually way more flavorful than anything else so I really appreciated that! I definitely recommend you check this place out, I loved the art on the walls as well. Thank you for the immaculate vibes!

Went for drinks at this well put together speak easy. Party of 4 in a nice corner booth. Directed 3 course menu of cocktails where the staff inquire about your taste and create signature cocktails just for you. The staff were amazing, knowledgeable and fun to interact with. Definitely recommend.

First time here and we absolutely enjoyed it. The ambiance is very inviting and elegant. The concept is original and well executed. The drinks were well made and unique. We loved that it is reservation only and wasn't crowded like most novelty bars in San Diego. We were able to relax and savor the experience. The staff was very nice and attentive. Shout out to Tommy, who was super nice and helped us have a memorable experience!

Unique experience! It is really speakeasy and seriously at some point you don’t know where or which door to walk to. I went on Sunday I thought it might be less crowded I was sort of right. The speakeasy is small and it might hold max 35-40 people. It is a 3 course of cocktails experience with fixed price of $57 (tax included) . You have only 1.5 hours to stay for less than 4 ppl. If you can’t make the rez I suggest you calling them to reschedule otherwise they charge you no show up fee $30 per person no matter what. This is why I only give 4 stars. It should not be that strict in my opinion. They greeted us with a complimentary bubble drink(not remember name) They basically ask you some questions about your fav taste of cocktails or what spirits you like the most etc. and they prepared for you. There is no food during this experience however once you’re done with it you can walk to Neighborhood restaurant to grab some food if a seat is available which we did it. My first drink was two steps it was a combination of wine and gin cocktail sour/tart taste I like. It was great but for the next two drinks I wanted to pick my own choices. My husband got fire drill with mezcal.

Reallllllyyy cool spot in San Diego. Loved the speakeasy vibe and the decor was cool. LOVED the dealers choice drinks they were SO good. Service was very slow on Wednesday but otherwise amazing bar.

Atmosphere: 9/10 Located in Downtown San Diego, hidden inside the restaurant Neighborhood. Speakeasy-style setup with a vintage, classic, refined vibe. Intimate space with a small number of bar seats and tables. Backbar is nicely done. Music volume is pleasant and conversation-friendly. Surroundings outside aren’t great, but once inside, the concept is clear and cohesive. Drinks: 8.5/10 Recommendation: Follow the menu instruction High-quality menu with a unique three-course cocktail format. Drink selection isn’t large, but the second course being dealer’s choice adds interest. Flavor construction is strong overall. Coasters are provided and well-designed. Glassware is above average. Garnish and presentation, including ice work, are consistently nice. Service: 6/10 Water served on arrival. Team is friendly, but professionalism could be better. With only two bartenders, service feels overwhelmed at times—empty water glasses weren’t refilled without asking. Reservations recommended. Prices are definitely above average, though the experience itself justifies it. Points deducted for the forced three-course cocktail menu plus additional shots in between. The fixed pacing locks you in for 90+ minutes, and if you don’t eat beforehand, it can get borderline unpleasant toward the end. The lack of freedom of choice hurts the overall service experience.

Updated review - March 2025: Unfortunately I am taking away a star after our most recent visit. They've made some updates, where the first and third courses are now selected from a menu, and only the second course is a "choose your own adventure". The options for the menu are decent but I think the new format made it a lot less of a unique experience and value for me. If you've never been, I'd absolutely recommend it. Great speakeasy experience, cool vibes, bartenders are great. And the cocktails are good. But I'm sadly disappointed by the new format. Hopefully they at least rotate their menus around regularly so you still get to try new things. Original review: Fortunately/unfortunately, this is my favorite bar ever! Fortunately because it's so amazing, but unfortunately since it's not an everyday bar you'd go to, and I don't live in SD. (+) Vibe - really cool old timey digs, love the ambience, the seats are comfortable, and I obviously love me a hidden door speakeasy. (+) Service - amazing, friendly, attentive. Made fantastic cocktails. (+) Drinks - cocktails were amazing. You can tell they definitely listen to you when you're describing what your preferences are and bring that into the cocktail. I absolutely cannot wait to go again.

They changed 3 custom drinks down to 1. The pre set drinks are aright but they really should make it clear cause people came for the 3 custom drinks obviously.

A very interesting concept but ultimately I felt it was a let down and far too expensive for what it is. Although we made reservations weeks in advance, it took almost one hour for us to get our first drink. One of the drinks was good but the rest felt standard and uncreative.

I have been to Young Blood many times, but haven't been in about 2 years. I would have easily given this place 5* in prior years. My recent visit was a huge disappointment, though. The menu has now changed to set drinks on 2 of the 3 courses instead of Dealer's Choice for all 3 which gives the place a more personalized feeling as the bartenders get to know you better. The price has also dramatically increased from $60 to $85 per person and the only additional things you get are a few snacks ... not worth the price increase. The first drink I had has to be one of the best and most interesting drink I've ever had there. The palate cleanser drink between the 1st and 2nd drink was probably one of the most disgusting drinks I've ever had (could only take 1 sip). The other 2 drinks were good but nothing amazing. Overall, just a less personalized feel than how it was before which made this place really special. Also, they do not respond to phone calls or messages on Open Table if you have to cancel last minute but very quick to call to confirm your arrival just an hour before the reservation. Unfortunately, I can no longer say Young Blood is my favorite speakeasy in San Diego anymore.

R

This used to be my favorite cocktail experience that I’d ever been to. Since they changed the experience from all 3 courses being dealers choice to now having 2/3 menu based, it has truly ruined the experience in my opinion. The drinks are all thoughtfully crafted, but by not being customized to your taste it really lessens the experience. It now costs $85/person which I would gladly pay if it were to be the previous dealers choice experience for all three drinks. The first drink I had was really just not good and unfortunately none of the other options really spoke to me and my flavor profile either. My second drink was great and reminded me of how Youngblood used to be. The third drink was very good but did not think it was anything crazy. I really wish they didn’t change the experience because honestly it is not worth the price anymore. Unfortunately we won’t be returning unless it changes back to the old experience which really makes me sad because it used to be something I looked forward to when coming to San Diego.

The first time I came here over a year ago, I loved it! Such a cool concept where each of the three courses were dealers choice based on what you enjoyed and discussed with the bar tender. And the opening drink of bubbly made it even better! It immediately went to the top of my list for cocktail bars. Unfortunately, they have changed their concept and lost what made them stand out among other cocktail bars, all while increasing their price tag by $25/person. While I still had a good experience and the bartenders were friendly, there was nothing about my recent experience that makes me want to come back. Hopefully they will change back to their original format - otherwise I will look at other speakeasy options around SD.

I wasn’t totally sure what to rate this place. I went a few years ago and it was a 5-star experience for sure. But I don’t like the changes they put in place, thus my 3 stars now. It used to be 3 custom cocktails for $72, but they changed the format. Disappointed that we showed up to find out that now it’s only 1 custom cocktail and the other two rounds are from a pretty small menu. Plus it’s more expensive at $85 now. (Which I wouldn’t have minded if the experience of creating 3 custom drinks had remained the same.) But $28 plus tip for drinks that you aren’t as excited about was a letdown, and definitely takes most of the fun away. IMO the thing that set Young Blood apart was the fun of creating 3 bespoke cocktails with the bartender and most of that is gone now. The drinks are very well-made, the service and bartenders are phenomenal, and the ambiance is awesome so I didn’t want to rate below 3 stars. I just probably wouldn’t come back here a third time unless they returned to what I think made them special.

Though the cocktails and bartenders were good and would recommend the experience, it was clear they do not understand how to pace out the drinks and time needed for what they are trying to offer. Over booking reservations in order to rush patrons through so they can bring in the next group is not an excuse for poor service, when the experience is meant to inspire a fine dinning atmosphere. Being told no rush but you need to leave in 9 minutes is an odd when you are being served your last cocktail.

A very interesting concept but ultimately I felt it was a let down and far too expensive for what it is. Although we made reservations weeks in advance, it took almost one hour for us to get our first drink. One of the drinks was good but the rest felt standard and uncreative.

Adding a pre-set cocktail menu while simultaneously increasing the price by 20 dollars per person is just plain careless. Youngblood used to be my favorite spot and they really set themselves apart by having no menu allowing for everyone in your party to receive a unique and personalized cocktail. Now they are just like the hundred other speakeasies in San Diego while being more expensive. Booking a reservation and not having any idea they added a menu until you sit down wasn’t ideal. Decent cocktails on the menu, but nothing like the Youngblood that got them where they are.

Youngblood has changed. One of our favorites is now just another bar. The whole reason we fell in love with this place was the amazing service and bespoke cocktails. All that is gone. Now there is a fixed 4-6 drink menu for each “course” that you must choose from. Sassy and impatient servers (especially our female bartender), average non-balanced cocktails, and limited choices make this into an over priced bouge fest. Way better options in San Diego at this point.

The attention to detail for the bar and speakeasy was exceptional. However, the lack of personalization and the rude attitude of our bartender was not a pleasant experience especially with a price tag of $340 for 4 of us. I had to send back my 2nd course, which was suppose to be the one tailored to my taste as I was given a dessert worthy espresso martini (including egg yolk) - not what I asked for. Given it is was pretty different from what i asked for i expected sharing the thoughts was okay but instead was met with what felt like hostility. At that price I would expect to get to choose what I like, not set menu. Would not do it again- lesson learned.

Echoing what other low reviews have mentioned - Youngblood used to be my favorite speakeasy but they have since removed the 3 curated drink experience and replaced it with 2 set drinks and 1 curated “main course” which removes most of the allure imo. Our female bartender seemed annoyed, like she was going through the motions, and she spoke so quickly that we could not understand her description of the drinks. The whole experience felt very impersonal. The drinks were good but not worth the price tag.

Absolutely not worth the price tag. The two main servers were horrible - you can tell they just were phoning it in and didn't really care about our "experience". The new guy (Gerik?) was great though.

I'm going to start with the big negative here. Basically on my primary drink the bartender asks what I want and eventually the conversation leads to a smokey whisky cocktail. He implies he's going to use a peaty scotch. Guy proceeds to grab the Dickel Rye whisky in front of me for my drink which I thought was odd but figured he was just using it for a little spice. Nope turns out after asking him he actually thought he was grabbing buffalo trace bourbon. That was pretty odd as well since he was supposed to use scotch. What did I get for my primary cocktail? Something that was pretty much similar to the first drink I got for the "appetizer" When I pointed it out he just said his mind was mixed up and sorry. No offer to redo the drink or anything. Maybe I'm expecting too much from a place like this, but this felt like a big miss. Otherwise I like the decor and general ambiance of the place. Also the drinks are pretty decent overall. However this big oversight just soured the whole experience.

I loved this place before but this time I didn’t like the higher price, only 1 custom drink, and the mean bartender. The bartender was very rude, it was like she was mad about our presence lol! No greeting at all until she went to take our order and just simply said “what are you thinking for the first course?” No greeting or friendliness. For the custom drink I said I really liked the shaved ice vibe of the first course if she could do that again for the custom drink and she said “I can put it on ice for you” and just put it on regular ice 😭😭😭 her rudeness really upset me I was trying to think of what I did to offend her lol! And all this for almost 250$ with tip 😭😭😭 don’t know if I will come back which is really sad because coming here was going to be the highlight of my birthday :(

Really disappointing. The new fixed corse menu sucks. The whole reason it was such a great experience was the intimacy of having no menu and talking to the bartender. I don’t what happened to the old staff they were great. The new staff especially, our server was rude and seemed annoyed. Almost walked out and asked to see a manager and was told they are trying something new. This used to be my go to special occasion bar, i would go here every year for my birthday. I would take friends and family when they visit. Sadly not any more.

Incredibly disappointing. I visited about a year ago and had an excellent experience, with outstanding service and drinks. Unfortunately, this visit fell far short of that standard. We specifically asked for cocktails that were not sweet and were assured none of them were. In reality, every drink we were served was overly sweet!! One literally tasted like a Jolly Rancher. When we shared this feedback, the response was simply, “Sorry, what would you like next?” with no attempt to course-correct or comp the drinks. While the following cocktail was enjoyable, the one after that was undrinkable, yet each was still charged at $30 per drink. Our water glasses were also never refilled, further highlighting the lack of attentiveness throughout the evening. I live in Los Angeles and regularly visit bars at this price point and even higher. I’ve happily paid €70+ per cocktail in Paris when the quality and service justified it. At this level, consistency, craft, and hospitality should be a given. Bar Hemingway would never.
