Opinions de AsiaSF San Francisco
Open late, this new location, they've been in Berkeley for years. Lavish marble fountain sets a serene mood, such ornate seating, golden Turkish coffee pots, and beautiful wall hangings. People come alone, so it's a good place to meet someone :) or to work :/ They have rose cakes and spicy cheese bread, subs, meats and specialty coffees, Yemen brunch from 7 to 3
I got hooked on Yemeni coffee beans while traveling in Egypt, and HEYMA Coffee absolutely nails that flavor profile. The coffee is rich, deep, and aromatic, clearly treated with care, not rushed or over-roasted. If you’re into proper coffee, this will hit. It reminds me of traditional Turkish-style coffee, especially that warm, subtly sweet spice note (cardamom) that adds depth without overpowering the beans. The rose milk cake has strong dulce de leche energy: soft, milky, lightly floral, finished with pistachios. It’s indulgent but balanced, and it pairs beautifully with the coffee. Great atmosphere, thoughtful menu, and it’s located right by Civic Center BART and well connected to the rest of downtown. Definitely worth checking out.
Wonderful wonderful place, from the hot food to the warm service; very hospitable, lovely decor, very clean environment, great music, wifi.. definitely returning.. the brunch is a must try I ordered the foul. Highly recommend
Love love love the vibe! The food was delicious and the staff were all so amazing and kind. We had 20 people coming in and they were so accomodating and supportive. Highly recommend for breakfast and if you need a conference room theirs is really nice and free!
What a delicious and delightful place to eat! Great decor, lovely semi-private alcoves and private back room, AMAZING food, I got the foul, the orange blossom coffee, and the rose milk cake. Great music, kind staff, cannot over-recommend.
SF has been blessed over these recent years with a rise in Yemeni coffeeshops. Although a lot of them have great coffee and tea, this is the first one that has amazing brunch items as well! I went here two days in a row I enjoyed it so much. The first day I got their IBB coffee pot with a bee bite which was very good. The coffee was made perfectly, strong, and a nice essence of cardamom. I do wish they had an option for a smaller coffee pot size. But this was so good that I decided to come back again and try their brunch. Let me tell you, their food stole the show. The Yemeni style shakshuka with cheese and the Lahm Zighar with hummus are unbelievable. The shakshuka was full of rich spices, eggs cooked well, and it’s served in a pot so they stay warm throughout the meal. They a perfect balance between eggs, tomatoes and seasonings so nothing over powers each other and the unique cheese really ties it together. This I would say was closer in style to a menemen than a shakshuka, and I think it’s truly exceptional and the hot sauce is amazing. That with the lahm zighar which is beef cooked with Yemeni spices on top of hummus are two items to get to share. I’d say their Yemeni tea was very good as well and the perfect thing to pair with the food. The inside is spacious and designed beautifully with bright colors and a water fountain. You can really chill here for a good amount of time and enjoy their calming atmosphere. I think this place is going to get very popular soon, as long as they maintain their high quality product I will keep returning and supporting them. In short, although there’s no shortage of great Yemeni cafes in the Bay Area, but there was a lack of food options until Heyma opened. I was told they serve brunch everyday until 2pm which is very reasonable as well. Keep up the great work and product!
I recently started going to Heyma in SOMA because a friend posted about it on Instagram and...my god that place is amazing. It's spacious, has WiFi, the drinks are great, it's open late and the brunch is also delicious. I've been sucked into staying there for *hours* Cannot recommend Heyma highly enough 🥳
Wandered in Sunday evening for a coffee and baklava, it was delicious. The Heyma Latte was sweeter than I expected, infused with honey. They were sold out of most of the savory pastries as I had arrived quite late in the day, but I look forward to returning and sampling those. Very happy to see a new delicious spot open in this area. The restaurant is beautiful, with striking red patterned furniture and banners against a bright, warm interior.
Bright, big and new Yemeni cafe in the SoMa district. There is A LOT of space and I love the decor. The drinks are delicious and not generously portioned. I tried the Dubai chocolate latte and it was so tasty. I’m going to be wired for a while!
So delicious!! The coffees were amazing we couldn’t stop smiling as we drank them. And the decor inside is so beautiful you feel like you’re in an upscale restaurant or hotel, it oozes luxury! We had a caramel macchiato and an eclair latte, both totally blew our minds. Can’t wait to come back!
What a beautiful and relaxing cafe. A great middle eastern vibe, while still being bright and inviting. The drink & desert selection feels familiar, but made with quality ingredients and some items have interesting exotic flavor flairs.
We had one of the best breakfast ever! The service is amazing and place is so clean. Would come back for sure. It was my daughter’ss birthday and they made a small cake with candles and they played happy birthday song along with other kids songs! What a beautiful service!
6 cheese Shakshuka was solid. Socrata coffee was good
Second visit with my whole family. We came for brunch and Yemeni coffee and ordered the fool, shakshoka, and Harazi coffee — everything tasted amazing. The customer service was truly above and beyond, super welcoming and attentive. I’ve tried all the other Yemeni coffee shops in the Bay Area, and this one easily stands out as the best when it comes to service, decor, and food. We’ll definitely be back.
Great Find!! I had the Heyma Latte with oat milk and a dubai chocolate + pistachio cheesecake. I enjoyed the unique cardoman and cinnamon flavors in the latte. The coffee itself is good/strong and it is not overly/unnecessarily sweet. The cheesecake was fantastic. I could have easily gotten a second slice it was so enjoyable. The servers were kind and helpful. And the seating area is really nice and relaxing. Much bigger space than it looks from the outside. I highly recommend.
I was here last week for an appointment with someone and was blown away by how cool this place was. It's new and exciting and had this place been around when I was in this hood it would have made a perfect daily stop before, during or after work. There's so much space and its incredibly clean and tidy. The colors and interior design are very nice. The menu is extensive and there are so many things to try from classic to more fun and flavorful ones that follow trends like the Dubai Chocolate. They even have food and pastries so there is definitely more reasons than just coffee beverages. I tried the Mufawaar which is a medium roast coffee with cardamom and cream. It was thick and served super hot. We sat in and were provided a glass cup so we could pour and enjoy. A nice balance and great first impression as I've never had Yemeni coffee. The service was great and the guy working was very friendly, chatted, shook hands and complimented my water bottle. I will definitely return when im in the area more consistently. Everyone needs to try this place. Great small business and stellar coffee addition to the already great coffee city we are.
Delicious coffee! I appreciate Faris delivering coffee to us on a Sunday morning. Thank you 🙏🏽
Middle east meet Brooklyn beat. Seriously serious yemeni coffee bar, perfect blend of spices and milk brewed right before you. Great selection of fancy treats and snacks. Groovy French neighborhood cafe vibe. I had the Dubai chocolate, nothing like the bars you get in the store, this is a beautiful confection where crispy meets melt in your mouth velvet.
This place is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. It’s open late, and has a fountain. The food is good and the coffee is amazing. Every time I have gone I have had to wait but that’s because they’re pretty busy. I’m happy to see it looks like it’s going well
Great place, love that it's open late! I can stay here until I am actually tired, an option not provided by most San Francisco coffee ☕ shops. And the drinks are spectacular 🤩!
Kind people with great atmosphere
Delicious and beautiful!
Karak Chai was amazing. Whoever made it is amazing too. Front desk, Man from Eritrea cool dude.
Newly discovered favorite place! I started a new position around the corner and walked over for a pick-me-up, as everyone in the office raves about this place. I got the Heyma Latte, absolute 🔥 Never had a cardamom cinnamon latte before and was pleasantly surprised, it was soooooo delicious! Next time, I'm coming back for the honeycomb!
I love anything middle eastern so if there is a new kid on the block that's close to where I live, I am going to check it out! What I liked is : - it's a big space with nice decorations - they have lots of fun coffee options (some traditional and some less traditional ) - they have salty snacks and vegetarian ones that look good and some are traditional - free wifi What i didn't love: I’ve been on three occasions and each time is a different experience. No consistency. Neighborhood is aweful but this is what goes on inside: First time: There was a line with just two of us (place was empty) but the cashier was not at the register as i think he was also the barista for others already seated. The girl co-worker with braces was just sitting doing nothing having her coffee and with her phone. I don’t think she was on break, I think they just assumed that 2 people could wait. I was surprised that no one welcomed new clients.. when it was my turn the cashier barely said hello or responded when I said hello. Odd. Particularly for a new spot. He wasn't mean or cold but maybe indifferent or overwhelmed not sure. Also.., there was NO music. Not inviting. 2nd time: busy. Again waited at the register while three employees managed the food (rather than dividing themselves in tasks ). The music was SO loud it was like a club. No joke. I told the kind cashier (young woman without braces) and she said “yeah i know” and immediately lowered it because we couldnt hear ourselves talk. The music was a crazy non middle eastern music. 3rd time: at some point the girl with the braces was yelling at the chef in the kitchen.. there was no one inside the cafe except myself and a friend and and NO music. It was SO loud and at some point all three employees were in the back and there was a client in the front who came to the back to get attention so he could order….. finally they put music and it was middle eastern which was good and nit too loud but I was sitting in the back and I could also hear the music the chef had on… so it was different conflicting music.. All in all, I think they need a manager, better time management and a more welcoming attitude. Outside of the young woman without braces, they don’t offer s very friendly vibe. There is a wall between clients and staff.
The booths are nice for groups. Plenty of seating. Closes late. Has all the yemeni coffee shop fixtures (except sparkling water). The seats and decor are good. My main gripe is the mood-kill lighting: it's got ultra bright cold-white lights and light strips everywhere, together with the white walls, white marble floor and seats, you may just feel like you woke up deep inside Hawkins National Laboratory.
Unfortunately I don’t believe this place is ready for prime time. The hot food that comes from the kitchen was amazing and worth going back just for that. The drinks were not good (I ordered the same that I get from another place in town), and the pastries from the case were also lackluster. They forgot to give me my baklava, but when I got it, it was completely stale / soggy and not crispy. The service was a bit weird too. They were patient with us ordering but had us sit with a number. We got the drinks when we were almost done eating the hot food and had to ask for the baklava on the way out. The hot food came to the table but we can to go up to the counter to get the drinks. There was plastic silverware over by the bussing station, and we swiped a napkin stand from another table. The restaurant was not very busy, maybe 3 other tables, so it’s puzzling why they were behaving as if they were slammed. The decor is lovely but the bolts on the chairs need to be tightened. The carved panels by the booth were broken off. I noticed that the cup AND sleeve for my drink was branded. I’m hoping they spend less money on branding and decor and more on their service. We’ll be back in 6 months to see if it’s improved.
Very spacious, huge variety of lattes. Decent spot to work late.
Had a very poor experience here around 9 PM. Even though they don't close until 12:30 AM, the cashier refused to give me a proper plate because she "didn't want to do dishes" later. To make matters worse, the staff was busy flirting with each other instead of providing professional service. Rude attitude and zero effort. I won’t be back.
