Opinions de Flywheel Coffee Roasters San Francisco
I fall in love with their coffee. I must say that there is no other place in the world that even close to the uniqueness of their coffee. And this particular branch is my go to Philz, located only one block away from my office. They also have a few outdoor seating here.
I love the friendly cool hip vibe this shop has. The coffee is very unique and delicious. You should stop by....if you thinking about it.
For any coffee explorer, the Mint Mojito Coffee is to die for. If you're a coffee lover traveling to San Francisco, this should definitely be on your list. The chocolate croissant was also amazing.
This place was awesome - the best brewed coffee I have ever tasted! The setup of the store, the ambience, the service, and mostly the quality of the coffee was just incredible. I loved how they take their time in making your drink to perfection. My barista was very nice and helped me navigate the choices given this was my first time there. I tried the Tesora (with cream but no sugar) and would suggest this blend for all medium roast coffee lovers. Highly, highly recommended!
Cute little place, pleasantly placed. Outdoor seating is alright. It's handily near a bart station too. Pretty atmosphere as well.
Philz Coffee is a fancy premium coffee shop. I had their large dark roast coffee $6. The coffee is brewed one cup at a time via a small paper filter like how Blue Bottle does it. I prefer my coffee straight up, no cream or sugar. Their dark roast, "Jacob's Wonderebar" had a unique smokey sweet bitter taste. It was very good coffee. Service was excellent. By the way, large coffee prices around Fidi are: Starbucks $3.45, Peet's $4 and Philz $6.
This was a wonderful stop for breakfast and a cup of delicious coffee. The line was out the door, but definitely worth the wait. We ordered the avacado toast and a breakfast wrap that were both delicious. The pour over coffee was awesome, will definitely go back to Philz when in the bay area.
Great spot to get coffee, Philz style. It's not your standard coffee bar, they don't do lattes or cappuccinos. You get delicious filtered coffee, freshly brewed just for you. I love the Mint Mojito, creamy, unsweetened. Their almond croissants are amazing, get them warmed up for an upgrade in your experience 🥐💕
Philz Americano is great! I think they use whipping cream or real cream when you ask for it in an American which is very good. I always grab a bag of beans when in the city.
Best iced coffee in town! You must order their ice coffee mint mojito, won't find anywhere else then in SF!
When I went to Philz Coffee in San Francisco, it was different from other chain coffee shops. Because each cup is made by hand by the baristas, the procedure feels deliberate and intimate rather than hurried. Their famous Mint Mojito was smooth, creamy, and unexpectedly refreshing without being overbearing, so it lived up to the promise. The café itself was a pleasant place to hang out because of its laid-back atmosphere and welcoming personnel. On the down side, I observed what others have noted regarding inconsistency—some drinks are stronger or more balanced than others depending on who makes them—and the queue moved slowly during the morning rush. Nevertheless, Philz is worth a visit if you're looking for unusual flavours and a more thoughtful coffee habit.
The staff at Philz Coffee are friendly and actually seem to love their jobs as well as their customers! The coffee is always delicious and their cookies and other items are always fresh.
I go there every Friday about 5:30 a.m. I always get a large Tasoro coffee, although I have had a breakfast burrito a few times which was delicious. There is a Starbucks practically next door but I would walk 3 more blocks past it to Philz if I had to. The barista's are very welcoming and take pride in their work
Excellent mocha and latte's. If you care about quality coffee and lattes with perfect foam then this is your place. You can't go wrong with the great chill atmosphere, laid back vibe and music with a patio in the back. They do have a small selection of gluten free donuts and other bread goods to eat with your coffee. Come check this place out!
Really good cappuccino! And they have french style almond croissants, so looking forward to going back and trying again soon :) not the most comfortable seating so don’t plan on staying for ages, but great for a quick drop in/caffeine boost. Highly recommend if you love great coffee!
It’s a really fun coffee and light bites place off the park. Great coffee with a manner of serving types, a lovely selection of cakes and a nice vibe for visitors and regulars. Every time I’m over from the UK I like to visit; the coffee really is that good!
A cool, hip, relaxed coffee shop. Incredible coffee. Their cold brew had such clear smooth notes of flavor. Their matcha was smooth, delicious without any sweeter, which is how I know it is good matcha. Large selection of pastries, tried their vanilla earl grey donut and it was lovely. Location is right across the street from Golden Gate Park. Work a visit for sure.
Great work/study place IF YOU CAN GET A SEAT. Was pretty busy and crowded up until closing. Free wifi for 2 hours (I think you can extend this with an order). Outlets and good lighting. I ordered a chai latte with oatmilk and it was great. I’d definitely come back. Allergen warning: all the pastries are handled with the same tongs and made in the same place as nuts/peanuts. I encourage avoiding the pastries if you have a peanut/tree nut allergy. They did look good though so if you don’t have an allergy go ham.
I'm not local - but it seems like everyone else in this coffeeshop was, and I mean that in the best way. Flywheel feels like a place where everybody knows everybody and the baristas know your dog. Now, for the coffee. They had a nice selection of single source beans. We went for the siphon preparation. I know it's nothing special as far as actual infusion, but how often do you find a shop that can actually make a siphon brew? We got the Ethiopian and Tanzanian beans which were both pleasant and distinct (the former being more earthy with subtle sweetness, the latter with more sour cherry notes). We watched the barista prepare our siphons, drank our coffees and enjoyed a crumb cake, watched the locals come and go, and just all and all had an extremely pleasant morning at Flywheel.
This is one of my fav and best coffee shops in the city. The interior? Spacious and warm. The outside? Scenic and beautiful. And the crew is outstanding. Had a paperweight light velvety steamer with honey and cinnamon, pure perfection. Art work was a bonus. Can’t wait to come back and spend entire days here. Keep up the great work y’all.
Flywheel Roasters on Stanyan is a true coffee paradise in SF. The moment you enter, an intriguing and distinct aroma of freshly roasted beans envelops you. Their commitment to same-day roasting is evident in every exceptional cup. The coffee is simply awesome – vibrant, nuanced, and bursting with flavor. You can taste the dedication in each sip. The passionate staff and welcoming atmosphere further enhance the experience. For any coffee lover, Flywheel on Stanyan is an absolute must-visit. Prepare to be enchanted by the quality and freshness!
Phliz is consistent everywhere you go on the west coast. Everything is made to order and fresh! Reasonably priced, outside of the lines you can’t go wrong for a quick drink or even if you need some space to do a bit of work.
Heard of good things about Philz so I was expecting high. Ordered their signature mint mojito and coffee rose but they are somewhat disappointing. Maybe it’s because I asked for light sugar. I think I still prefer coffees with milk like regular latte or flat white. Staff there are very friendly and atmosphere is great tho.
I use to love coming here especially when it was at 24th around Mission. Menu is a lot smaller and chose the new Manhattan which was available on the app. Checked the menu in person and they had the one I wanted, Philharmonic, but I was told they are phasing out that brand. It use to come with a mint and none of their coffee on the menu even offers it. Baristas we’re calling out other peoples orders by their name and noticed my order was just sitting there. Had I not paid attention probably would have just sat their. Kind of feel I don’t belong in there. Plus it is way overpriced. I found coffee in SF for $1.45 around fisherman’s wharf. Good luck looking for that cup. The place was cozy to kick back and had a lot usb outlets to charge devices. Probably the last time I will hit this place up. The coffee was delicious though.
the pre-Covid workers have abandoned this busy hub and as we rebuild downtown ... this oasis for good pour overs will remain steadfast for locals and others who remain to help reshape this magical city, we call the "City"
Lovely spot for coffee conveniently located a short walk away from Golden Gate Park! I’ve walked past Flywheel countless times and it always looks super packed, but I eventually managed to pop in on a quieter Monday afternoon. I can absolutely see why it’s so popular — the coffee is phenomenal, with a rich, nutty, and not overly bright flavor. My cappuccino had all the perfect ratios and was outstanding — the perfect mid-afternoon pick-me-up before a long walk in the Park. They have a good amount of seating inside (plus very cozy vibes), but it is a popular spot so the tables fill up quickly; I’d try to come early in the morning if you’re hoping to sit down and/or want a reliable place to tele-work.
Coffee is great but the guy with glasses that makes the coffee sucks. Hella rude. When asked about which coffee contained almond milk he was rude and dismissive. Someone in our group has a tree nut allergy. That's why we asked. Anyways this is the first time we've had bad service at philz. It's just this one guy who sucks.
Hi - regular customer, almost every day for three years. Such a big fan thank you. But please - omfg no - please revert the lighting to the much more nuanced lower light. Terrible vibes with the new super-bright lighting (installed with new floor). Maybe darken floor a bit if you. You have such a dialled vibe. Please restore! Thanks.
Baristas are so rude for no reason. Not welcoming or friendly. Third time going and I was treated so rudely it compelled me to write a review. Seems like they are striving for a certain aesthetic or demographic and are very rude to anyone who doesn’t match their vibe (white, indie and pretentious). The coffee is fine just prepare to be treated like garbage for asking simple questions. There are so many better more friendly places to get coffee in the area (Whole Foods right around the corner, stanza coffee, cantata, rise and grind etc.).
my iced coffee was filled with grounds. i’ve never had a coffee i’ve had to chew before going here.
I just bought a tea from this place (that I didn’t even want or plan to buy) merely for bathroom access. I waited 20 mins for the bathroom while one woman hogged it the entire time and never got to use it before an hour long uber ride. Staff refused to help in any way besides suggesting I find a restroom elsewhere. Waste of money. Tea was served far too hot. Do not come here
