Literally the best sandwich in the world. Perfectly baked bread that was slightly crunch and soft in the middle, fresh lettuce and the tang of dijon paired perfectly with the roasted peppers and the cheese was exquisitely delicious with the fresh salami. I have eaten this sandwich every time I go and they never disappoint. Will forever be raving about Fox and Lion!

All in all my favorite sandwich in the city. The food and service at Fox and Lion feel completely down to earth yet still full of passion, and the price is great. I find it really standing out in a city full of over-priced, highly-marketed restaurants. The sandwich is gourmet quality while the price tag is very approachable. The ingredients are visibly very fresh, the baked-in-house bread is always excellent, the sauce and olive oil really elevate the presentation and taste. My favorite is their Janga's Club the very friendly lady at the shop recommended it to me the first time I visited here after a long run. Is it BIG! A three-decker stacked with lots of turkey, salami, cheese, and veggies, it tastes fresh and flavorful, and definitely satisfied my huge and eager appetite. I keep coming back to Fox and Lion even though now I don't live in SF anymore. Whenever I'm on my way from the airport to the city I'll try to stop by. It's such a pleasure to have their sandwich in my hands and to know that I'll have a blast. Last visit: September 2021

I am not a sandwich person but I feel inspired by a good sandwich: high quality toasted bread, well seasoned fillings, and affordable price. Oh and melted cheese is the plus. Fox and Lion Bread fit this criteria. I ordered tuna melt so it is over $10 but most sandwiches is still under 10 dollars. Their bread is awesome and it makes a simple sandwich a decent one. We decided to check this place out because of Yelp! Its literally a small cute little place. I ordered a lox bagel and my boyfriend got a grilled cheese with ham. We both took it togo and omg it was so good!! We were both very happy with what we got. The bagel and bread tasted so good. I would definitely recommend this place!

Had the lox bagel. It was perfection! The avacado toast was good as well but needed a bit more flavor. Good value. The Lox was my favorite!

This place has the best coffee!!! The food is high quality and a great price. I love the Mary's sandwich and the salad with house vinaigrette. Don't forget to take home some pastries and bread that was made that morning! Definitely going back.

So glad I finally made it back to the Thursday Mission Community Farmer's Market and bought their bread! It is now a favorite of ours. There was a little glitch a few weeks back when Xan, the owner and baker had to get used to a new oven but it was just a one time thing and having played with baking bread myself, I understood and it was no big deal to me. Love all the breads we've sampled so far! They use freshly milled flour and it shows. Delicious!! Thank you Xan for the hard work and love you put in your bread ( haven't tried the cookies and other treats but perhaps I should...!). Note sure of the address (around 18th st in the Mission?) but I found out they'll be opening a shop in the fall, moving from another location, which will be great when the Farmer's market closes for the winter.

Went in around 2 pm thinking they’d be sold out, but to my surprise they still had fresh, warm bread—and it was incredible. The staff was super friendly too. Honestly, I almost finished the whole loaf before I even got home!

This place is a little slice of heaven. Wonderful atmosphere, cheerful service, and good variety of food to choose from. It feels like a charming European cafe.

I went in for lunch and tried the Guru sandwich and it was INCREDIBLE!!! Seriously the most delicious sandwich I can remember eating! There were so many different flavors and they complimented each other perfectly! Each bite was like a bright little surprise with the mushrooms to the hummus, to the pickled carrots each pop forward with the bread as a stage. So after this I had to try the vegan pastries. I had the chocolate turnover. WOW!!! I can't wait to go back!

This is actually my perfect cafe. Food is DELICIOUS and I'm grateful for the litany of vegan options that are high quality and unique; they didn't feel like an afterthought at all. I came in expecting one sandwich option and was so happy to see that they've just expanded the menu and now have several more vegan sandwiches! Additionally, I would normally reject a cheeseless pizza but after trying a delicious sandwich I decided to give it a chance and I'm SO glad I did--it's all in the crust!! So good!! The atmosphere is super cozy and welcoming and the service was lovely. I love that it is open later than other cafes as well. This is definitely going to be my new go-to spot!

Amazing baked goods and really good prices too! I love that they have a $2 cup of drip coffee. The sourdough pizza slices are really tasty and are a generous portion. Also the their cookies are tasty and massive! There is a nice selection of beer and wine for purchase too - all very reasonably priced. Can’t wait to return and support this local business!

Came in for a sandwich in the evening. The pastrami was super rubbery and there was hardly any sauerkraut. A big disappointment.

I was excited to try the bread as I saw good reviews, but this raisin loaf was extremely underwhelming. It was dense and hard. I tried to like it, but I don’t.
