Seriously mouth watering !!! Amazing momos (vegi, lamb, chicken)so juicy I did tried all mix a plate really great:) Regular Indian cuisine all flavors amazing felt great!!! Naan made in clay smells restaurant environment just do visit every hunger time…. Best with the place and the welcoming!!!
So glad this place is in our area of the city. We had some veg biryani, samosas and an avocado samosa chat. The owner and waiter were so very friendly but the food was really next level. My partner is Indian, so we cook and eat out Indian regularly, and this nepalese food is so fresh and authentic tasting. We wanted to try the veg momos but they were sold out already (good for them!) and we’ll hope to try them next time.
LOVE this place!!!! Our new go to! I highly recommend the butter chicken (and normally I’m a tika masala girl but their butter chicken is the BEST) + the chicken momos (hidden on the back page of the menu but these are literally the best momos I’ve ever had…EVER!) their wine is great too! Everything I’ve tried is great!
This restaurant is one of my favorite places in San Francisco. It's super tasty clean, healthy and the portions are good too. Not to mention the service is very polite and if you go there often they'll remember you. I order so often I tend to get take out but when I have time to dine in I thoroughly enjoy the ambiance and my experience. It really sucks that this place has been closed ever since the beginning of the pandemic. I cannot wait until it is operating again!!
This little hole in the wall serves up delicious Nepalese food. They claim to be the first Nepalese restaurant in San Francisco, and it is the first of it's kind I've been to. The service was quite good and the food was excellent. To me, it was a pleasant cross between the more common Indian and Afghan cuisines, with flavors all their own. Parking in the neighborhood can be a challenge, but it's worth the effort if you're in the area.
What a charming place! You must try the authentic Nepalese dishes (though the North Indian items are also fantastic, you can get those at many other places). The food is richly flavored and deeply comforting. We especially loved the Nepalese dal and the mustard greens, which were so nutty and satisfying. The flavors are complex while not being weighed down with too much oil or ghee, so it also feels quite healthy. Plenty of vegetarian options, too! The service is genuinely warm and attentive and makes you feel right at home. A good date spot :)
There are few south Asian restaurants that I give a perfect rating too in the Bay Area. Little Nepal is definitely one of them. Our visit to them was perfect. We were a group of four that went to them after a go car trip in San Francisco. We reached there at 5 after 5 pm and were immediately seated. While we decided on our courses, we asked for chai and it was promptly delivered. The menus have good descriptions and we went for a meal for two (they were more than happy to accommodate vegetarian substitutions), a curry with goat and a curry with shrimp. Along with each of the entrees came some white rice and naan. The servings were perfect. I would also recommend the lentil soup (it goes great with the white rice) Overall my experience was great and my only wish was that I was hungrier. Will definitely go back there soon.
Walked into this place after walking in Bernal Heights and had an AMAZING dinner. We got the dumplings to start and chicken curry meals - the Traditional is reminiscent of tikka masala and was delicious. Good naan and sauces. The owner came out to chat with us, and it feels like a family run restaurant. Good sized portions and good service. I highly recommend it!
I felt like I was in Nepal again. The atmosphere is really calm and peaceful. The food is just amazing. It has the authentic taste to it. I really loved their Himalayan Momos. Will definitely go there again.
Woohoo, indeed! If you don't like spices you can get no spice. I go for mild and that's hot enough for me. It's a small comfy restaurant. I use their delivery at least once or twice a week when I don't want to cook. Good stuff at a reasonable price for the yummies you get.
Little Nepal is a little gem in the Bernal Heights neighbourhood, still run as a local family business. I had the tandoori salmon which was super tender and juicy, and the combo plate included a small but delicious lentil soup, a vegetable mix with zucchini and fresh tomato, and the nans were also very good. The service was warm and helpful, the price was very reasonable. I will definitely come back!
I love this place. It's a small restaurant with extremely friendly people that run it. I was not familiar with Nepalese food before coming here, but it reminds me of Indian food, maybe lighter. I come here quite often (I live in the neighborhood) and every dish I've had has been delicious.
Great food , great vibes , great atmosphere , great services , great decoration . Love it . I suggest to everybody to visit little neapl indian cusine . Thank you . See you soon again . Best wishes !!
I looooove the staff, way too kind and amazing. We ordered 3 different dishes and everything was super tasty and delicious. We will come back. Highly recommended!
Excellent food. Excellent service. Ambiance is pleasant. Will definitely be back. Came in again for another big lunch. Ordered many items amongst three and everything was good
Whoever is looking for one of the best restaurants in San Francisco you should try Little Nepal. Food is amazing, the atmosphere is great and the people working there are fantastic. It's a secret gem in the hills of Bernal Heights.
Every time we go there, friendly, very tasty and very comfortable, John and Rashi? are very accommodating and their service is excellent
Very cosy, very welcoming. Apart from the wonderful food, their decor took my heart. Highly recommend!
I came here with a small group and we were immediately given the impression, both by the aromas from the kitchen and the other plates that we saw, that no matter what we ordered, we would be in for the best meal! This turned out to be 100% true. I’m already looking forward to returning. The service was relaxed and very attentive the flavors and the food were deep and very well seasoned. couldn’t ask for a better experience
Wonderful experience of my first Nepalese restaurant. Food is a great motivation to visit Nepal. Very simpatico host/waiter.
This place is amazing! We were visiting from Dallas to SFO and found this little hidden gem. The food is really amazing and the service is exceptional. John goes above and beyond to take care of his customers. We left full and happy, worth every penny!
This little gem of a restaurant was an unexpected delight! We stumbled upon it after the restaurant up the street, for which we had reservations, decided that they were closed for renovations. (Long story.) Thank goodness they were closed or else we would not have stumbled upon Little Nepal. Our waiter was lovely, charming and funny. We were all starving so we dove straight into the entrees: pistachio chicken korma, palak paneer, and coconut shrimp curry. Each dish more delicious than the next. For accompaniments, we ordered buttered naan and coconut rice; drinks were a shared bottle of white wine. The best part was we had loads of leftovers despite being absolutely stuffed! We can’t wait to go back there!
So excited this place has reopened. Probably the best Nepalese I've had in a couple years. Everything was really flavorful but balanced. Didn't totally burn out my pallet after each bite. We got the lemon rice which made for a really interesting contrast to the rich sauces.
I want to preface this by saying I am NOT an expert on Indian food. I maybe get it once a year. I was looking for someplace open within walking distance and placed an order for takeout The gentleman working there was very nice and helpful, the atmosphere was very friendly and inviting. The restaurant itself was very clean but homey. I thought the food was pretty good, I got chicken tikka masala with garlic naan and thought it was great, but I’m no expert.
Excellent Indian food — per my western taste. Thoroughly enjoyed the tandoori chicken, spinach dish, pompadom’s, chai tea, and rice. Very good customer service—though they didn’t automatically refill my water. Beautiful decor—someone took great joy decorating. Enjoy!
The food is delicious and atmosphere is so welcoming
The atmosphere is absolutely charming, authentic and blissful. I smile the entire time I'm here listening to the culturally tuned music and the sweetness of the entire staff. I am in Love with this place and I want to shout out loud, tell my neighbor and sing the praises of Little Nepal restaurant!!! My new favorite by FAR!!
Dude!!! I went for lunch and got the special. I did the coconut shrimp, pistachio curry with chicken. It was the best Indian food I’ve ever had. I’m coming back bringing anyone who will listen with me.
This restaurant is amazing, about food, service and atmosphere, we are order a Momos, chicken tika, tandoori wing's, chai, and was delicious, including the sauces, the service at the restaurant was at the point, the restaurant was a full house and everyone was help... love it.
Cozy Nepalese restaurant in Bernal Heights neighborhood of San Francisco. Getting here is not that hard, it's right off the freeway, although parking is a bit tough. Food and service are excellent here. We got pork momos, the lamb samosa and chicken tandoori curry thali. The naan and daal that came with the thali were also very good. 5/5!!

Visiting a friend who lives in the neighborhood, so she’s been here before. We ordered two vegetarian dishes and some garlic naan, all to share. Everything was really delicious. Portions are not enormous, so we didn’t have to take leftovers with us, but we were both full when we left the restaurant. Lovely decor with beautiful cloths under glass at the tables, and attentive but not overbearing service. Lovely little spot!
Super good food, very nice atmosphere and great service! Definitely would come back.
Had the chicken biryanis on uber eats - was incredibly delicious! the raita was not great though.
I love this place. The waiters are so sweet and attentive without being overbearing, it's so charming. And the food is Awesome. I always get the momos, the sauce is SO good. I usually try to leave it for dipping in addition to curries. I've never had anything not up to par. And the decor is so great. Super laid back spot with great food and service. Total gem.
Very flavorful, fresh and delicious food. Great service, peaceful and relaxing environment and music.
Had a wonderful meal here! The vibe of the place was lovely, and the service truly stood out. Vikas, my host and server, was incredibly kind, attentive, and quick to respond to anything we needed. He made the experience feel welcoming and smooth. Definitely a place I’d love to come back to.
I was going to the store, made a right turn around little Nepal. The smells were so yummy coming out of the restaurant. I had to stop and order some for Friday night dinner! Everything was perfectly cooked. And lots of leftovers.

Went to Little Nepal for first time. It was tiny place but comfortable and very decorative. We were offered great service. Liked the aromas, spices and dipping sauces. For all our orders, we had the combo choice that comes with lentil soup, mixed veggies, basmati rice, Naan bread and tasty chutney. The Lamb tandoori and tiger prawns tandoori were very tasty. We also had the Lamb and vegetable samosas. Very nice!
We've eaten both at the restaurant and had delivery. We've always enjoyed the food. The food is like Indian food but not (I know, that was not a great description)... let's try: wonderful sauces full of flavor, but not as heavy, oily or creamy. Tonight's meal was the best we've eaten from Little Nepal so far. We always order the Lamb Chhoila (so, so, so good) and we try to order something we haven't yet had. The lamb Chhoila never disappoints, melt in your mouth, busting with flavor cubes of lamb (in the future, I plan to order 2 lamb Chhoilas and a veg curry combo, and that will be plenty with leftovers to spare). Kukhurako Pakuwa was awesome too, chicken in a tomato sauce full of spices. We ordered the chicken as a combo, so it comes with naan, rice, potato, lentils and a spicy sauce situation. And last but not least, Saagko Tarkari. We both looked at it and said 'looks meh,' but it was delicious, Indian greens meet Southern greens. For two, the lamb Chholia, Kukhurako Pakuwa combo and the Saagko Tarkari was more than enough. We like leftovers. I lied, I like the idea of leftovers and pretend to eat them, while my hubs actually eats the leftovers. They quoted us 45 minutes for delivery, it was literally here in 15. AWESOME. Thanks Little N!
Again I wish that Google would allow me to give out 1/2 stars as this place would get 4.5 stars all around. So we have all been to either an Indian or Nepalese restaurant before, I assume, and we all know that feeling, the first few bites were very tasty and then I started to feel like a pregnant mountain duck... Well not here at 'little Nepal' . Let me back up, I ate here just about 20 years ago for the first time. No I have no recollection on how good the food was. But it was the same location, same restaurant name and cuisine, that I know. 20 years fast forward, who knows how many changes in ownership and chefs I went back to try the place which opened just 5 weeks ago. I love it , the food is light, a great blend between Indian, Nepalese and some Californian. The staff at first is a bit reserved and shy but opens up quickly as you talk to them. We must have chatted with the head chef for almost an hour, going over recipes, up-bringing, mountain and restaurant names , it was a delight to say the least. Now to the food. We worked ourselves through the menu. Fig salad, mango chicken, coconut rice. Lemongrass chicken, curry salmon, naan... None of the dishes disappointed and we didn't feel stuffed or pregnant like a mountain duck. I love this place and highly recommend it. I will go back and it won't take me another 20 years.
Such a little gem in the Bernal Heights area. We love the bright colors outside and inside. Our server was very sweet. The food was delicious- not your standard Indian restaurant fare. I recommend getting the lunch special. Although it’s $25 it is absolutely worth it. Our party of 3 orders 2 of them and still have leftovers. It includes: a wonderful salad, naan, papadam. choice of rice and 2 curry dishes. The sauces for dipping were sensational- we especially loved (and devoured) the green curry (mint/cilantro).
Went there for lunch - ordered the set lunch with lamb vindaloo and tandoori chicken. It came with basmati rice and naan- the naan was thin and very good 👍 also ordered an extra ala carte aloo gobi. Overall experience was good. The lamb vindaloo was tasty and tender.

Little Nepal is a cute little restaurant in Bernal Heights on Cortland Ave. It is run by a Nepalese family and offers Nepalese and North Indian food. You do not need a reservation and the wait was minimal on a weeknight. What I loved is the ambience and the music. This place magically transports you to a monastery in Kathmandu. The reason I gave it 3 stars instead of 4 was the food. We had the paneer ledo and bhanta ledo, and upgrades it to a combo for $3 each. A combo adds half a naan, black (lentil) dal, potato mixed veggie and a shot of tomato chutney. Ledo translates to light cream sauce in a tomato based gravy. Bhanta is eggplant and paneer is cottage cheese. Both the entrees of Paneer and Bhanta Ledo’s were lacking flavor, and the naan was bland. The black dal was watery and probably should’ve been cooked for another half hour to concentrate. Free papadum was the saving grace. To be fair I’d rate this restaurant 3.5 but I do not have the option to add half a star. Service was great and charming. Perhaps we should have asked for medium spicy but no one asked us our preference. Also, we were spoilt having dined at Lotus SF in the mission last week, where the food blew our mind. Go to Lotus for the friendly service and perhaps try their meat dishes (we tried veggie and were underwhelmed) and try their momos (Nepalese dumpling).
Had the Himalayan veg momos and veg chowmein. Despite informing them that spicy was fine for me, the momos were bland, the dip was also mildly spicy. The outer layer of the momos was too thick. Eaten a lot of Nepalese food in the past, momos are definitely a lot better usually. The veg chowmein were on fire, the noodles used looked like spaghetti but the dish was overall not bad. The papad and chutneys they served while waiting for food were amazing, flavours of both the mint & sweet chutney was on point. Overall, probably ok to visit once.

Staff is nice, but the food is just fine. Especially with cuisine of nepal just down the hill. I want to love this place cause it’s so close to my house, but I just don’t.

Bring your grilled cheese for the tomato soup, err chicken tikka… the palak tastes like frozen chopped spinach. Where’s the spice and seasoning?!
I’m extremely disappointed with this place. I ordered a coconut lamb curry and was simply provided with the curry itself and NO RICE. 20$ for literal liquid? I need rice. Any other Indian restaurant I’ve gone to includes rice in their entree. This place is a total scam. I ordered the side of naan as a SIDE in associate to my lamb coconut curry and was royally disappointed to just see that and naan. No rice at all. Do not go here, not worth the money and the coconut curry didn’t even taste or have a hint of coconut in it anyway.
