Good spot for a quick slice. Not too expensive to buy single-servings from the pizzas already laid out. We also ordered a custom gluten-free pizza with 3 toppings. That was $35 and enough to feed 2 people, so more pricey than the single slices, obviously. The thin gluten free crust was really good. We all enjoyed it. They have some TVs on and a decent amount of seating. The staff was very attentive to us and made sure we had exactly what we needed. Not fancy but it hot the spot on a cold rainy day.
Heads up the ranch is expensive so bring your own lol. But the rest of the experience was great the service at the counter was nice the gentleman greeted us as soon as we walked in. The pizza is great and if you do a review here soon online you have a chance to win free pizza for a limited time.
I've been ordering from Escape From NY for years and I just love them! They have consistent quality of ingredients, specialty menu items, great service, and their food is the tastiest. TY! I ordered this past Monday via phone, as I needed to start the week off right, and Rolland helped me and was the best. Check them out for yourselves. Yum :-)
Loved our pizza after a late Giants Game. We were a party of 9 visiting from Indio, Ca. Will definitely be back
I love this crispy, tasty pizza. There are many toppings. This pizza is good for people who love the crust. I love the mozzarella taste and marinara sauce blend. They have great beer and other drink choices. The best part is there is a nice seating area with plenty of space outside. The staff is friendly and the price is good. They give you a punch card so I'm working my way to a free slice!
We were visiting San Francisco for the weekend. On our last night we wanted pizza. Came here and we were very impressed! The pizza was delicious! And $3 for a huge slice. I will definitely be coming back next time I'm here.
One of my favorite new pizza places in SF. The Pizza was amazing with the dough being so flavorful and the choice of toppings stand out from other places. Service was excellent also the pizza was brought out in less than 10 minutes and was very helpful.
It's like an authentic New York/east coast Pizzeria with real pizza by the slice service, but on the other side of the continent. Also it has cool staff, and good hours. Though they really should offer slices later. They only do full pies later at night. If you want to nosh on something quick late then this isn't really an option. It's still a great place though. I would give it 6 stars if I could.
After a long work day in a city that's not home, walking into this kinda-tucked-away pizza place was heaven. Ordered a medium Popeye & Olive (vegetarian option) - it was amazing. Service was great, place was clean, and if I wasn't dead tired I'dve eaten there. Took it to go, settled in with a bottle of red wine and enjoyed the cheesy, salty, vinegary pesto & olive-laden slices. Just might get another before I go. Totally recommend!
Randomly visited while night walking and surprised. One of the best freshly made Pizza i had in the SFO
Escape From New York Pizza is hands down the best pizza in San Francisco, and quite possibly the best I've ever had! I'll definitely be back for more. Please keep that pesto chicken pizza on deck – it's phenomenal!
I haven't had Escape From New York in at least 5 years and this was my first time at this location. The experience did not disappoint. It tasted exactly the way I remembered it. I personally love the pesto and cheese, but my husband said the pepperoni was the best pepperoni he's had in a long time. The prices were affordable, especially the beer and pepperoni slices that were on happy hour.
Best NYC pizza and NYC pizzeria experience this side of the Mississippi. Perfect amount of sauce and cheese on my pizza. I will definitely come here again!
Escape from NY delivers a classic, no-nonsense slice experience that stays true to its New York roots. The pizza is consistently flavorful, with a well-balanced crust that’s crisp on the outside and soft enough to fold. Service is fast and efficient, making it an easy stop whether you’re dining in or grabbing a slice to go. The interior leans into a retro, urban aesthetic that adds personality without distracting from the food. Prices feel reasonable for the portion sizes and quality. The atmosphere is casual and energetic, fitting well into San Francisco’s late-night food scene. Overall, it’s a reliable and satisfying spot for classic pizza cravings.
Went here back on 11/20/25 while in town for Microsoft Ignite. I was a little skeptical about trying New York pizza on the west coast, but I must say it was very good. They also had members of the Top Chef Band. They were very talented, and I was glad I was able to enjoy some live music while eating my favorite food, pizza. It wasn't too bad of a walk from the Clancy Autograph Collection hotel where I was staying. I highly recommend them, and if I'm ever back in San Francisco, I'll definitely return.
The pizza lives up to the hype! Specifically the gluten free pie. It was great! Roland took great care in getting the order right and was extremely friendly and welcoming. I absolutely would eat here again.
Great pizza! Both locations have proved to be awesome-though this one has not only a LOT more sitting room and tables than the one on Haight St., but also a bathroom!(which was greatly appreciated) thanks again for being open late! Appreciate you guys and I recommend their pesto pizza to anyone and everybody! :]
Tried this place for the first time and pizzas here are a godsend for my taste. I can taste the ingredients and it has the crispy bottom that doesn't taste like burnt and it's not soggy. Not too much cheese and the caramelized bacon is not oily or fully of sugary sap. Don't take my word for it, come and try it out! Pricing around $5-$6.5 per slice depending on the toppings. Small cozy place.
Great pizza. Amazing happy hour.
The most delicious pizza by far with kind friendly service 5*
Great small pizza place, very authentic, super friendly staff and the pizza is really like in NYC. Definitely worth a stop!
Great pizza and staff. Good for a quick bite or take out some pizza home. Would definitely come again.
I love to eat here whenever I am working in the area. The pizza tastes amazing, the atmosphere is great to eat in, and the service is amazing. If you are in the area and wondering what to eat, come here and enjoy a delicious slice or two of pizza. It's always tasty.

Great small pizza place, very authentic, super friendly staff and the pizza is really like in NYC. Definitely worth a stop!
Roland has magical pizza making hands! I've been having wet dreams about the Miss Figgy Pizza since I went (it's got figs obv, and a scrumptious balsamic glaze). Clean store, fast service, super friendly staff.
Awesome store. I consider myself a student of pizza youtube, just took a bite of the classic cheese 10 inch personnal pizza. It's definetly a new york slice. This is a place you come to for its authenticity. No fancy smancy toppings or vegan pizza. Just good old fashion ny slice. The tomatoes are fresh and have that acidity, it's not crispy but it is thin crust and delivers, the cheese has a pull some sort of moz cheddar blend amazinggg. the restaruant is decorated to tell the story of the pizza def worth a try if you're nearby union square
Service with a smile? Not so much. I mean, I get it, people are stressed out nowadays but damn, can’t even say “hi how are you today?” when a customer walks in? Just a blank stare and seemed irritated to be at work. He did make a very good pizza though.

I stopped in for Happy Hour... $3 beer and $3 cheese/pepperoni slices? Um yes please! The pepperoni pizza was so-so but for $3 I'm totally satisfied. Didn't try any of the specialty pizzas but non happy hour prices (about $5 per slice) seem very reasonable considering a sandwich from anywhere in this area is at least $10. And the patio is very nice.
I came to pick up the pizza about 10 minutes early. There are two TVs and some dining space. This location on Bush Street is in the Financial District near the Dragon Gate at Grant Street. There is also a Hilton nearby. This pizza is not overly heavy or greasy. It's rather light, but not cracker thin. A pleasant chew. Pepperoni, sausage, green bell pepper, onion, and cheese. Excellent distribution of toppings and not overly messy to eat. My pickup order was promptly and courteously delivered. It would be nice to have some pleasant company, but the restaurant doesn't provide that. Everyone should know that. No comprehensive social work case management offered. Should one assume all these needs should be everywhere met? Businesses don't provide that service. Proper venue and proper people to have your needs met. Restaurants are ostensibly where you buy food you don't want to fix for yourself when you splurge. The rest of the needs ...
A bit pricey, but tasty food. Excellent service!
One of the few financial district places that stays open late. No slices after 7pm, though. Happy hour is good, but only for cheese or pepperoni pizza. All else is $7 a slice. I like the potato pizza, but pizza tastes vary widely. Friendly service.
Service was great, actually got to meet the manager and talk about all the restaurants he's opened . The pizza slice was large forsure, maybe if your hungry I'd recognize 2 slices. Tvs for entertainment and very good atmosphere.
7$ for the slice. Not bad considering it's like a whole meal. Pretty greasy. Would recommend their happy hour from 4-6, way better prices If youre going for quality there is a place up Sutter called Parrot that has better quality for same price. But the location of his place is really good
Huge slices of delicious, New York style pizza in a great downtown location that also serves beer. You can order just an extra large slice or two or however many you can consume, which they can heat up for you to enjoy right there, or take entire pies to go. I really love the potato pizza, while friends love the Hawaiian. Can't go wrong if you like the toppings. The crust is acceptably thin (though I would prefer it thinner) and crispy--best eaten fresh.
I've lived near NY for almost Teo decades so and I'm in love with NJ and NY Pizza. Not sure if this place promises NY Pizza, since it's an escape from NY Pizza, but it didn't taste really like NY Pizza. Nevertheless it was still good pizza. The prices are steep just like anywhere in San Francisco. The staff was nice and there was plenty seating. It was a good place for what it was!
This review is only for the happy hour which runs from 4-6 pm M-F as I've only been here a couple of times during happy hour. This has to be the cheapest happy hour deal in FiDi. You can get a slice of peperoni or cheese pizza and a drink for $6 with tax. Their pizza is the New York style hand tossed thin crust pizza. To my surprise I found that it is really close to the original, but only when it is freshly made. I get a slice only if I see a new pie laid out as the reheated variety is not good. During happy hour they have a steady flow of new pies so most times I've managed to get a slice. There aren't too many choices for the beer. You can get a larger (Anchor Steam), pilsner or IPA (Racer 5). I generally get the IPA even though I'm not a fan of Racer 5. Service is hit or miss as I've found very friendly servers and completely standoffish ones here. All things considered the freshly made pizza's here are good and comparable to the original. Happy hour is definitely good value for money while service can improve. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 is how I'd rate this place.

The pizza was really good, however I wouldn't find myself paying almost $40 on a pie again. No disrespect to the staff tho, they made a nice pizza and it's a perk that they're open late. If it's in your budget I'd definitely recommend trying it.

Unfortunately i waited for a pizza to finish today and they sold it to the person in front of me so i missed my lunch. Im not going here anymore.
The food is good and fresh but the man working the front didn’t really seem the friendliest this was at 9:18PM the guy seemed a bit rude, dismissive and sarcastic. Not sure if it’s because we were black
Pizza was bland. Coude t taste the marinara sauce or the pepperoni. Even dunked in ranch sauce it was bland.

Choose this bc the reviews were decent. But I would never recommend this spot as a great place to grab pizza by the slice. The quality of this "NY style" pizza in my eyes is bottom of the barrel I'd rather buy a frozen pizza then buy from here again. I purchased 2 slices of cheese, both were slightly burnt on the bottom and each slice lacked sauce or grease. If you were thinking of trying this place pick a different one!
The place is cozzy but the customer service is horrible. We were telling the guy our order and he constantly rolled his eyes and left us talking alone.
