Opinions de Nopalito San Francisco
One of our fave casual spots in SF - yummm! Fish tacos, carnitas, salad … all very tasty. Great cocktails too!
Nopalitos is always a great time. Their food is excellent & drinks are tasty & refreshing. The staff are always helpful, pleasant & attentive. Can't go wrong eating here. And there's parking available, a real plus in the city.
INCREDIBLE. Personally I came to San Fran with crazy high hopes of having a food experience to be reckoned with but this is one of the few that have lived up to the hype. Great food, good service and creative drinks. Everything is SF is overpriced so I don’t think I’ll regard on it a bunch besides to say this place is more reasonable than most for the flavors and presentation you’re getting. We had the ceviche, pollo pibil and Brussels spouts. All were extremely flavorful and well presented. Cocktails were super on point. Also they have a really nice Mezcal selection that I appreciate. Overall I think we’ll stop back in before leaving.
One of the best and most innovative restaurants in San Francisco. Family in from out of town. Suggested a few and they immediately picked to go here based on the website and menu. It was at least as good and even better than I remember. Had two of the calabasas dishes, the enchiladas mole and the wonderfully adorned little gem salad.
Im not very experienced in Mexican food, but this is one of the very best I've ever had. We started with a nice sweet nutty and creamy almond horchata. So refreshing. Then we ordered the fish tacos, quesadilla with chicharron and the birra main. The fish taco was sublime. Pun on the lime. It was so flavorful and delicious. The quesadilla was unusual. The soft taco layer was fried to a crisp shell with pulled pork and lovely chicharron overflowing. So juicy crunchy and umami. The birra was a pulled beef dish with rice. So good and filling. This is my favorite Mexican food place.
My wife and I had a great experience at Nopalito. The meal started strong with the totopos con chile—bold, smoky, and spicy, perfectly balanced by the salsa and queso cotija. The tacos de pescado were excellent, with just the right balance of heat and acidity. The quesadilla roja con chicharrón was a standout—crispy, rich, and deeply satisfying. We finished with a traditional arroz con leche, which hit the spot. Tip: Share everything.
I came here to snack and had amazing guacamole with pomegranate seeds in it! Very neat touch! I tried the bruselas al pastor- an innovative take on Brussel sprouts. The savory flavor is nicely balanced with slices of oranges. And the new drink is such a cute color! Loved my service from Erika!
This restaurant is cozy, warm, and bright amidst the fog of San Francisco. After their to go window by Dolores Park closed, I had to track down the original to get their chips, or totopos, which I think are the best tortilla chips in SF. They are made from fresh ground cornmeal, and they have a heft to them makes crunching them a really satisfying experience. Overall, their menu is alight with punchy, vibrant, complex flavors. Their hibiscus orange drink tastes exactly like fruit leather, or like a margarita with no bitterness. The gorditas are hearty and autumnal with root vegetables, and the cauliflower as meaty and tangy as buffalo wings. The rice pudding is a lot like Indian kheer with strawberry jam and spice cookie crumbles on top. All of the portions, I could only manage to eat half of, so expect a delight of a doggy bag. I think that upscale Mexican restaurants don’t get enough credit for the variety and depth of flavors they can bring. It’s worth paying more than $10 for a burrito here, because of the care that is obviously taken to develop such round savory flavors and an array of textures. The waitstaff is friendly and responsive, and the bartender welcoming and open to chatting. I really don’t think anyone can go wrong by coming here for a warm and interesting meal - it feels a little like Mexican soul food. Now, if only they’d bring back their tortas.
found this place thru the michelin guide! highlight of the meal for me was the fish tacos, loved the addition of the orange slices, added a really nice sweet/ refreshing element to the meal 😋 my bf ordered the quesadilla roja and it was SO GOOD but very heavy - would recommend sharing that so you can try other menu items! great portions and good prices!

I had the mole poblano enchiladas and they were delicious. The mole was rich, nutty and on the sweeter side, but I don't mind it. The rice was so good too, the carrots within the rice reminded me of the rice grandma made for me. I ordered the guava margarita, it was refreshing with just the right amount of sweetness. I was here around 6:30pm on a Friday, the place was busy and loud wich is expected but distracting. I order via QR wich is convenient, however a little unpersonable. It might be difficult getting a server's attention if you have questions about the menu, it was for me.
Super convenient ordering system with unique QR codes at each table and online payment. The food was delicious - I had the birria and highly recommend getting the flower tortillas with it! Their margaritas were tasty too, and the flan was the perfect ending to the meal. Highly recommend checking it out!
I ordered the Trucha, trout grilled. Comes on a bed of white beans and spinach or greens and a side of fresh made corn tortillas..Honestly the trout needs more flavor as it is generally a mild fish. …

This has a nickname- "nopa gringo" for its overpriced, white washed Mexican food. \n\nDrinks and service are good though!
Stopped in late afternoon on Saturday and there was no wait and service was good. The enmoladas were so good!

Huge portions, not authentic of course (didn’t expect it to be) but, is is also not good. At least for me, this place is a no. We order almost everything, nothing I really liked. But if I could recommend anything it’d be the birria and the mole (just hope you could order just the mole).
This isn't the spot for authentic Mexican food; it’s more of a fusion style. While the atmosphere is lovely, the dishes were a bit bland for my taste. The drinks were okay, but nothing to write home about. Service was good!
there were a few people waiting outside but we were willing to sit at the bar so we got a seat immediately. the vibes were pretty home-ly, and the staff were super friendly. we got the:\n\n- Quesad…

Very overrated place, starting out with the service, they tell you “scan and order with the QR code” that way the waiter doesn’t need to help you. It’s so loud in there that you can’t hear the waiter anyways. Had the ceviche which we had to request salt as it was tasteless and it had a ton of cabbage on it so you couldn’t even see the fish (maybe 3 pieces). The mains came, the quesadilla vegetarian was lukewarm and flavorless. Had to order guacamole and sauce (which they charged us for!) in order to get flavor but those were flavorless as well. I had the fish which was swimming in a bean sauce. Also lack of flavor and had to throw a bunch of salt on it. This is a shame to have Mexican food that has no flavor! This place used to be great years ago! For about $100 for 2 people this food isn’t worth more than $30! So sad!
A really disappointing experience for me, despite the very nice and friendly service. I got the tortillas and enchiladas. The portions were huge, but in terms of flavors, they were severely lacking. The tortillas were easily replicable with store bought ingredients. The most shocking to me was the rice, which was really flavorless except for the starch, no matter how hard I tried to taste it. The mole was also disappointing, and I love mole. Given the price and ratings, I expected much more. I’m really sorry to say this and I mean no harm to the business, but that was my objective experience. I ate a third of my food, nicely packed the rest, and gave it away.
