Fantastic pastries and great location. The almond croissant was perfect and unlike any I have had before. Not too sweet and didn’t taste of artificial almond, which is extremely rare to find. The plain croissant was luxurious and everything you want a croissant to be. The morning bun was soft and had a hint of orange, which was a nice surprise. We came in on a Thursday morning around 10:30am and seating was pretty tight, but eventually a spot opened up. Will definitely be back.

Very solid dessert options. Got the chocolate mousse cake for bday and a banana tart to go. The cake is just so rich in chocolate flavor. Banana pudding has so many layers and textures. Got cream and chocolate chunks on the top, fresh Banana fruit pieces with cream custard and the crispy tart is just so satisfying. So popular tho and there’s always a good wait. Servers are so friendly and take time to give rec.

The country sourdough is exceptional - chewy, with a beautiful open crumb and a perfectly toasted crust. Truly top-tier! Their pastries selection is just as wonderful - we tried out a slice of the chocolate rye tea cake which was rich, well-textured, and not overly sweet. Defiantly a must-visit for sourdough lovers and pastry enthusiasts.

I recently visited Tartine Bakery in San Francisco and had an absolutely delightful experience. The moment I walked in, the aroma of freshly baked goods embraced me, setting a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff was friendly and eager to help, offering recommendations with enthusiasm. I tried their famous morning bun, and it was heavenly. The layers were perfectly flaky and buttery with a hint of cinnamon and citrus that just melted in my mouth. I also indulged in a slice of their quiche, which was rich and savory, with a crust that was both tender and crisp. The quality of the ingredients was evident in every bite, and the care taken in preparation made each item exceptional. The ambiance of Tartine Bakery is cozy and vibrant, making it a perfect spot for breakfast or an afternoon treat. Overall, Tartine Bakery offers a genuinely memorable culinary experience. It's an essential stop in San Francisco for anyone who appreciates artisanal pastries and a warm, inviting dining experience. I can’t wait to return and try more of their delectable offerings!

Just the most delicious tarts, croissants and cakes from the ever delicious Tartine, a SF legend. Prices have sky rocketed, but the quality also soars. Service not the friendliest

Just went here for the first time and bought a lemon tart and focaccia bread. Both were amazing, but the focaccia stood out for me. I have the Tartine Bread cookbook and my focaccia is nothing like the one I bought here. It’s worth every single penny!

Lovely bakery The croissants/pastries are so flaky, tender, and yum. Get here early if you would like to avoid waiting in line. Baked good are excellent, whether eat in or take out. I really enjoyed the chocolate croissant - so crumbly and flaky, paired with gooey dark chocolate - good to start the morning. Avocado tartine was dressed with a lovely nutty crunch and Indian spice - great touch. Happy eating

amazing cakes and other desert here- we tried almost everything and they all soooo good. The almond tart was incredible - lots of flavors that work together but not too sweet. Sourdough is also amazing here - got a couple of options but the buttermilk is supposed to be best and quickest sell so you have to be here early to get it Chocolate cake is all right, a bit too sweet and heavy for our liking.

A very creative team. I loved how they accommodated and served special Jain Salad and muffins. This is easily one of the best bakery experiences i have ever had.

Overall my experience was good, a borderline 5 star. There are a lot of dessert options like cakes and some pastries (mostly sweet too). The onion and cheese pastry tasted well. Maybe I would prefer a bit more filling and slightly crunchier pastry but it was still good. Note that the prices are fairly high

We live in central Florida and were in SF on business. I’ve been baking Chad Robertson Tartine Country loaf for a couple months, so super excited to try the “real deal “. It did not disappoint. Easy to locate, as the wait line was out the door. Worth the wait, I had avocado toast, enjoyed in the outside seating area. Lovely taste, great crunch from the crust, fresh seasonings. I don’t know when we’ll be in SF again, so glad we were able to enjoy!

Wanted to get some high quality bread and bakery items for breakfast so decided to give tartine bakery a shot. The bakery itself is not very large but we found seating relatively easy, parking in the area can be tricky but that’s the case for most of SF. Their morning bun is MUST try imo, the best I’ve ever had. Egg sandwich was also good and their tuna sandwich was absolutely amazing I loved the acidity of the pickles and the sauce they use. Would def recommend this spot

Soooo yummy pastries and morning sandwiches. We got morning bun , breakfast sandwich and grilled cheese with Gruyère cheese and all were tasty. Final we got the lattes. If you are in SF area definitely stop here to get one of their pastries or sandwiches. Next time I will try their cake and tarts too.

Very busy spot but definitely worth it. We tried a croissant, the morning bun, and pan au chocolat - they were all extremely delicious, light and buttery. We also tried the bread and butter with jam, which was ok, nothing special. I would go back and highly recommend if you’re visiting San Francisco. I did find it to be expensive, coming from Canada, however it’s probably comparable to other spots in San Francisco.

Anything that we got was great. All the sandwiches have house made breads; highly recommended. Also they have great pastry and deserts and also coffee. All good. There is long waiting time and not enough seat. But you can take away and enjoy the food at Dolores park.

I originally wanted to go to the manufactory location but the line was insane + they sold out of the fig goat cheese caramelized onion danish I wanted to try🥲 Since it wasn’t too far I just ended up walking over instead Danish was absolutely delicious with crispy edges, soft buttery inside, and a very delicious smell+taste of eggs and cheese… the caramelized onion and fig jam also paired perfectly with the slightly-dry goat cheese, which surprisingly did not feel too goaty at all. I arrived slightly late so the danish wasn’t hot but (I think) they used heated plates so it didn’t seem cold/stale at all! The cappuccino tasted okay but the milk could definitely be better foamed. Store was quite busy but it actually wasn’t that difficult to find a seat; it was a bit more on the crowded side but since everyone was quite friendly it still made for a pleasant experience.

Must!!! Anything we tried here was delicious. We go once or twice a trip every time we are in California. Coffee is on point. Always get a loaf to go. I don’t even like sweets but the baked goods are made my angels.

This place is incredible, I visited this place because my wife has their book and it's really good, everything that they make it's very tasty and great quality. For me it's the best bakery in the USA. their croissants are great, pastries greats.

Yummy almond croissant and super friendly service! Standard flat white as well. Love that they have a little area to wrap any leftovers to go, made it very convenient!

Another chilly but gorgeous morning in San Francisco and I am hungry. So I whip out my iPhone and use Google Maps to search for breakfast spots near the Mission District. Fortunately for me, Tartine Bakery pops up and I decide to head over. I actually find parking pretty quickly, and I know that I got lucky. I lock up my car and walk over and as soon as I cross walk in the door, I smell deliciousness. I check out the display case and I pick a yummy looking scone and order the breakfast sandwich. I take my number and sit by the window. The bakery is busy and happy patrons chat while enjoying their food. The vibe is busy, but relaxed, warm and friendly A few minutes later, my breakfast sandwich is hand delivered and it looks tasty. The golden toasted crust of the bread mixed with the soft savory scrambled eggs is the perfect answer to my hunger. I try to eat slowly so as to thoroughly enjoy my meal, but the sandwich is gone too quickly. What can I say. It was scrumptious! I will definitely eat there again the next time that I’m in the Mission District.

Tartine Bakery is a cute shop with a great vibe, perfectly situated in a lively area near Mission Dolores Park. While everything on display looked delicious, the morning bun is an absolute standout. I was honestly amazed at how good it was - incredibly fresh, soft, and flavorful in a way you wouldn't expect. A good tip is that while the seating is limited, it's generally sufficient for a cafe of its size and it wasn't overly crowded during my visit. For anyone visiting San Francisco, I would highly recommend a stop here, especially for the morning buns. It’s a genuinely delightful experience.

Visiting Tartine Bakery was honestly one of those “this is why people rave about it” moments for me. The moment I walked in, the smell of freshly baked bread and butter-heavy pastries was irresistible. I tried their croissant and the famous Morning Bun, and both were absolutely worth the hype. The croissant was perfectly flaky on the outside and soft inside, while the Morning Bun had this beautiful balance of sweetness, cinnamon, and citrus that made it unforgettable. You can truly taste the craftsmanship in every bite. Yes, there was a line—but it moved quickly, and the energy inside was lively and warm. It felt like a place where food is taken seriously, but without any pretension. My takeaway: Tartine Bakery is not just a bakery, it’s an experience. If you’re in San Francisco and love good bread and pastries, this place deserves a spot on your list. I’d happily wait in that line again.

It feels like you're in Paris not San Francisco, except the friendly staff speak English. The croissants are perfectly brown, flaky and buttery, the Green Goddess salad is delightful with fresh peaches, the Tuna Salad sandwich is on their own super soft sourdough bread and stuffed with avocado, and the Gruyere Grilled Cheese is overflowing with melted goodness. The meal lasted me all day! Delish

I had been wanting to visit Tartine for a long time, and finally made it! We tried the plain, chocolate and almond croissants, two kinds of grilled cheese sandwiches, a pastrami & cheese sandwich, and the brioche bread pudding. Everything was delicious and made with care — the quality is undeniable. However, the experience was a bit chaotic. The line was long, and our hot sandwiches took another 20 minutes to be ready after ordering. Sitting down to eat inside feels almost impossible — it’s extremely crowded and hectic. Honestly, the smart move is to place a take-out order in advance, as we saw a few people doing. Definitely something I’ll keep in mind for next time. Worth it for the food, but not the place to linger.

The bread was excellent. I wish I had come earlier to try it fresher, but it was great. I did also order a vegan pastry option, although it was slightly less interesting than the bread itself. It's great to have vegan stuff on the menu, but I'd hope it is at par or above every other non-vegan food surrounding it. It fell a bit short for me, even if there is a high bar.

They have good bakery and sweets, but not very special (I had too much expectation, I think lol) and it's a little bit overpriced. In general, it's a normal good bakery.

One of the famous bakeries in San Francisco, this shop prepares its pastries on-site. Although there was a line when we arrived in the morning, it moved fairly quickly. The store itself isn't very large, but it does offer limited inside seating. The bakery boasts a variety of croissants, cakes, and other pastries. We ordered a croque monsieur, almond croissant, jalapeño ham croissant, chocolate croissant, and a morning bun. For drinks, we chose a vanilla latte, regular latte, tea, and dirty matcha. While the pastries were delicious, the coffee and matcha left much to be desired. The lattes were particularly light, lacking a strong coffee flavor, and the matcha had a similar issue. Additionally, despite ordering to eat in, our lattes were served in to-go cups. If I could suggest improvements to the shop, it would be to revisit the recipes for the lattes and matcha to enhance their flavors.

I really liked the iced vanilla latte and the morning bun. But unfortunately I have to leave a 1 star review, as the coconut tart we purchased has this cocoon like object with some sort of eggs in it? Ordered three sandwiches, but one was missing from our order. Staff claimed someone else took it, which felt like an excuse for forgetting it. Disappointing experience, and the food itself was underwhelming—sandwiches lacked flavor, and the plain croissants were not good.
