During my recent visit to The Hungry Spot, I had the pleasure of indulging in their garlic Parmesan chicken wings and Greek salad, and I must say, it was a culinary experience worth raving about. The garlic Parmesan chicken wings were a revelation. Perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, each bite was a delightful blend of flavors. I almost hate to write this review as this cafe is such a gem & want to keep it to myself. The key component to the restaurant is the owner/chef Katarina. You may come in as a stranger but leave as friends. All the signs she collects & posts are so fun to read. The cafe is small yet quite tidy. We dined in but the restaurant is set up for to go food very nicely. Everything we tried was scrumptious. Being a vegetarian I devoured the delicious veggie lasagne and the mistress salad. Oh boy, I cannot wait to return.

We happen upon this place by chance and couldn’t have been more lucky! The sandwiches were outstanding- we had the smoked turkey brisket which was so unique and divine- I couldn’t believe it was Turkey, the mistress- a fresh, delicious vegetarian sandwich, and a chicken pesto avocado sandwich which was absolutely perfect. The quality of ingredients at this restaurant was evident in the flavor. All the components seem to be made from scratch. Even the bread was very unique- soft but still had substance. The cherry on top for me was the amazing owner, Katarina, who made us feel at home instantly. She was warm and funny, and had so much personality. She kept sending out random menu items for us to taste, I was stuffed but couldn’t resist the lazy pizza… it was like being at an old friends home. I didn’t want to leave. Walking into a little cozy sandwich store and hear the European mom from the owner welcoming you. The ratings were obviously already great but you never know. Omg, the sandwiches are amazing. Toasted bread, the filling separately cut up and cooked with healthy fresh ingredients. You take a bite and you know, it’s exactly what you needed at this moment. Everyone is super nice, funny and the whole shop is spotless! We will stop by 1 time a month minimum.

The first thing I noticed was the wall decor - really cool, provocative and fun quotes! Not a ton of seating, and it is a little bit pricey ($~20 minimum)but the owners were very welcoming! We ordered the classic turkey sandwich and split it between the two of us, and we felt satisfied by the end - which speaks to the good portion sizes. And of course the sandwich (and the side of chips) was DELICIOUS! Will 100% come back.

Literally the most delicious sandwich I’ve eaten in my 34 years. We felt so welcome. It was the owner’s birthday and after eating half of the HUGE sandwich she gifted us an amazing slice of chocolate mousse cake. We will absolutely be back! ♥️

Lovely, cozy spot for a delicious sandwich! $23 (including tip and tax) for the BBQ Bacon and Chicken sandwich + side of chips. Sandwich was super filling and I appreciated that it was cut and put into a take-out box. The nice lady who took my order brought it out to me personally, too. I don't have a dog, but they had complimentary dog treats near the door.

Had Hayes and corn salad. Couldn't get a picture of Hayes salad because someone wanted to dig in! We will rock you and I need a hero half sheet of lazy pizza! Had salads from there before and they're always fresh and have a nice balance of ingredients! The pizzas are nice, crunchy and soft! Best eaten soon after getting it. Service is excellent! Will be back to try other things on the menu!

Amazing food, beyond amazing service, and quality meal!!! Ordered the chicken pesto avocado and had the mixed bliss salad. VERY GENEROUS PORTIONS! Everything tasted super fresh and delicious. The service was outstanding. Catalina was so nice and friendly and welcoming and made our experience wonderful! She was so kind and made sure we were really cared for and was super attentive (very rare in restaurants these days to have service as good as this). We really had a great time dining here and are going to come here again!!! The only problem is that there is limited seating if you are coming with a bigger party but other than that, 11/10 experience!!

Then he said ..we'll go over to The Hungry Spot to clear our senses with a meatball sandwich! My old pal Ringo Lasater just got back from Hanoi, and he brought back a few Durian fruit, and wanted me to experience the thing. He said it was to aromatic to cut open in his flat because it would stink up the entire building, so we walked one over to the park and cut it open there. WOW! The stench of rotting meat was almost overpowering, but being a huge fan of moldy cheeses including Limburger, I was all in! The texture and flavors were Amazingly delicious, but my sinuses were melting away, so the wonderful Meatball sandwich from The Hungry Spot truly hit the spot! 5 stars ☆☆☆☆☆

Had the best time catching the tail end of the WNBA finals today!!! Absolutely delicious turkey brisket and meat lasagna. The ladies who run this place are so much fun!! Will definitely come back!!

The service is also impeccable. They are so friendly and treat you like family. We did a pickup order and they brought it right out to our car and had the nicest conversation with us. I have gotten two sandwiches from this place. Both times I thought they were "just okay." They're not bad. They just aren't worth $18+ and honestly, for that price I expect a little more substance. More than just a thin layer of meat, minimal extras and definitely more than one slice of pickle. I feel really bad about this because the sandwiches are definitely made with care. They are very toasty and hot when served. The bread is delicious. But, for that much money I expect more. The people that work there are absolutely fantastic. They are so nice! The atmosphere is really cool as well. I love the decor. It has the vibe of a classic sandwich deli, which is something that is disappearing from San Francisco. I don't know what their profit margin is, but if they could just put a little bit more in each sandwich, even if it's just pickles and lettuce and an extra spoonful of sauce, I think it would be worth it. I got my friend aside of mac and cheese with bacon on top and he said it was really good. I also wish they continued to make coffee drinks in the evening. I was told that they turn off the espresso machine at a certain time in the afternoon and they just can't make drinks after that. This last sandwich that I got, with one side, cost me over $40. Overall, if you don't care about the cost of your sandwich, I would highly recommend this place. For regular people who maybe work in education or are going to school down the street, this place might not be for you.
