Opinions de Wonderful Foods San Francisco
Been coming to this place since they opened in the 90s. Next generation preparing to take over and continue the good and always consistent product you've come to expect. Many places have opened since this family opened but of all the places we've tried over the years, Wonderful Foods is the one place we choose as our go to when it's an option. We don't live nearby anymore but are willing to drive here. I don't recall my drink ever tasting different over the past 30ish years and that's a good and difficult thing to achieve. My adult kids come here on their own now and will bring their family.
Been coming here for almost 10 years ! Even though new boba shops have been popping up throughout the Bay Area, this boba shop is still the best! They use quality ingredients to make your drink creamy and delicious.
This place makes the best boba drinks. Their drinks are fresh and made right after you order it unlike other store who doesn't use fresh materials. I also love how there's a selection of candies you can buy.
Small, simple bubble tea shop. Drinks are great, especially the taro smoothie. Agar boba is a good topping choice.
The OG of boba in the city having been making boba drinks for 15+ yrs. Yes if I just had to pick one boba place to stay alive in the entire city it would be Wonderful. Their tea is solid tea base and their boba is chewy, though not known for lasting longer than a day. They are also a candy vendor serving both Western and Asian candies but I dont really come here for the candy but it's worth mentioning. Summary: OG boba shop in the city. Great boba drinks and also the serve food items and candy as well.
This is by far one of my favorite boba stops in the city. I always go for the regular milk tea with tapioca. The tapioca can be average at times but its typically always better. They also have a huge selection of candy for sale.
Hands down the best boba milk tea place this area of Irving, with some stiff competition! Even just their regular milk tea is great. Creamy, fresh flavor. But lacks seating.
Really high quality boba and fried chicken (omg so tender, juicy, perfectly seasoned, with some fried basil!). Prices are high and it's cash only, but if you want the real stuff (taro, red beans, etc) and not just a flavor syrup this is THE spot to go! The place is otherwise grubby and plain inside but the food is bomb
This is probably one of my favorite boba places in the city! Located on a street with a ton of different options along the same street, I think Wonderful Foods offers the best tasting milk tea flavors and tea flavors and is more authentic than the other places such as Teaway and Quickly's on the same street. The line's usually not as long and there's a decent number of options for those of you looking for something more fruity or perhaps more on the milk tea side of things. There's also a range of candies that the place offers in case you're looking for something to add onto that sweet tooth of yours.
One of my go-to places for boba. Norman started Wonderful Foods way back when SF didn't even know what boba was. He's continued the awesome-ness by taking up Sweet Hut and churning out all the wonderful boba I love. Lychee milk tea is my favorite. The passion fruit green tea (no milk) has my boyfriend addicted. Everything I've had here is awesome.
best boba ever and authentic. salt and pepper chicken good and spicy too. doesn't take as long to make drinks as chain places.
The best place to go on Irving street for tea/fruit drinks. A hole in the wall combination candy store, drink place and fried snacks shop. It's a little old and shabby, but the stuff you get here is wonderful. When it's mango season, you walk in and get hit by the fragrance of ripening mangoes. I think if they remodeled the counter and just cleaned it up a little they would kill the competition.
Very wide selection of boba teas and candies, tried a lot of them and all were tasty and refreshing ( especially the piña colada flavor) . The cashier is very nice and the shop is small but colorful. They only accept cash
Best boba spot on irving (and probably top 1-3 in sf), definitely go out of your way to go here instead of the other spots for fresh fruit/boba
My favorite boba place, I usually get the basic milk tea or avocado boba...the boba is perfect, not too hard and not too soft. I also love the popcorn chicken, spicy is better !!!
One of the oldest boba spots in the city. Is it healthy or made with all natural ingredients? Nope everything is made with a powder and syrups but it still tastes good. Also cash only.
This has easily become one of my favorite boba shops in the city! I love their fresh fruit blended drinks. The boba from here is also so good and chewy — no wonder why they’ve been open for 30 years! Good quality boba drinks. The store is also super clean and you can order via the kiosk machine My go to is the Lychee juice with lychee jelly + boba at 25% sweetness. Super refreshing and the perfect amount of sweetness. Their watermelon drink is also just as good!
Like the name, the drinks are quite wonderful. I like to drink boba slushies/smoothies and I am glad that this place uses real fruit for their fruity drinks for a fresh, natural flavor. You can also alter sweetness on many drinks. Highly recommend
I LOVE this traditional boba place!!! It has been here for sooooo long. Their boba is always fresh and chewy. Very strong tea flavor. My favorite boba place for sure! Regular black milk tea is unbeatable
They have an expansive caffeine free list which I love and they offer non-dairy options like oatmilk and almondmilk which my husband loves.
This is one of the original boba spots in San Francisco and I’ve been coming here since college. They use to also sell candy by the pound but they stopped after their renovations a couple years ago and just stuck with making drinks and snacks which I think a lot of people from San Francisco is use to their drink recipes, there’s a nostalgia there. They open later than most boba places and I think their salt n pepper chicken is one of the best, it’s meaty, crispy, spicy, sweet, and flavorful plus it’s topped off with some fried basil. For drinks I like their oolong milk tea, they make it sweeter and it taste different from all the other boba places i tried. Honestly I haven’t tried I bad drink from this place, their drinks won’t blow you away but every drink they make is solid. The lady that’s always there making our drinks is always really nice too.
Great selection of caffeinated and non-caffeinated drinks, as well as fresh fruit beverages. Plus, popular snacks like popcorn chicken, fries, onion rings, and more!
One of few boba places that still uses fresh fruit 👍🏻. Drink was great, clean store, good customer service. Still best boba on Irving.

Wonderful Foods is a family-owned boba shop that has been operating since the early 90s. I've been coming here with my husband for years and still remember the candy containers that lined the walls and colorful handwritten menu. Although the inside has undergone a makeover, the charm of the shop and flavor of the drinks remains the same in my opinion. It's also one of the few boba shops open late (even though they close earlier than they did back in the day). The lychee milk tea and white almond milk tea always hit the spot for me. They use finely crushed ice, which I find more pleasant than giant ice cubes because you don't lose out on the amount of drink you're getting and still get a cold drink. Their popcorn chicken is also the best I've had from a boba shop. They also recently added Taiwanese pork buns to their menu and I hope they keep it! If you're craving classic flavors and bit of nostalgia, Wonderful Foods in the place to go.
Chewy tapioca boba, wide selection of non-caffeinated drinks and extras (tea eggs, anyone?) Grab-n-go is strongly suggested by the sterile interior — there's very little furniture to encourage lingering Plastic lids on the drinks tend to leak — please consider boba standard seals
Delightfully chewy boba and FRESH FRUIT. Can’t beat high quality tapioca and freshly blended fruit. My family and friends and I have loved Wonderful Foods since I was in high school. Mom loves their warm stuff. I usually get the watermelon tapioca or papaya milk tapioca.
Probably the best black milk tea in SF (and I've tried a lot of boba places in my life)! The classic milk tea at 50% sweet is perfect. You can really taste a strong tea flavor. Because of that, I keep coming back to this place! Note: They dont seal their cups (they use lids), so beware of spillage. (I've also gotten a fruit tea here once and that was really good too! But the black milk tea is my usual order and NEVER misses.)

I ordered a strawberry matcha with agar. The cashier immediately put in the large option, without even asking me what size. When I told him I wanted a regular/small, he gave me a look. The drink was great, but I couldn’t really taste the matcha.
great service, kind of dusty, but the boba is good. its more worth it to get a large bc its only one dollar extra than the regular. overall was pretty good boba spot!
This place started my milk tea addiction 16 years ago. Even though I love this place, there are just too many different and better tea places nowadays. The go to drink for me here is the oatmeal milk tea. They took this off the menu for a long time and I haven't been there until recently when they added it back. They have lots of varieties in their candies and dry fruits as well but are a bit pricy in my opinion.
Amazing boba place owned by a nice Taiwanese family. I'm so glad they're still in business while all the competing boba places and froyo shops are popping up nearby. My go-to is always the watermelon smoothie, but everything else I've ordered here has been great. My friends and I were regulars at this place when we were going to school in SF. We had to limit our trips to Wonderful Foods to twice a week as a way to limit our calorie intake.
I've been to Wonderful Foods since I was a kid, and always going back for the tapioca milk tea. They have an authentic Taiwanese recipe, unlike Quickly's across the street. I always go for the milk tea, strawberry smoothie, passion fruit black tea, almond, or taro milk tea. To be honest, I go there for the drinks, not so much for the tapioca because it gets hard and isn't always chewy. But it's still worth it!
One of the original places to get Boba in the Sunset District. Been coming here for years. My go to is the #28, blended lychee and coconut jelly. They sell candy by the 1/4 lb. They also have some food snacks, but it's gotten pricey recently, $7 for popcorn chicken...
Do you want the best balls in your mouth? Go here. The tapioca is soft and they have the right chewiness. The drinks are always made to order and fresh. Yes, there are cheaper and faster alternatives across the street, but are the calories worth the shitty sugar water and gummy balls?
This place beats all the boba milk tea places I have ever tried. In my opinion, their boba beats quicklys, teaway, and all the other boba places. Their milk tea has an interesting and different taste that makes them unique. The taste isnt too sweet and does't taste diluted.
Although this place is famous for its almond milk tea, I got the jasmine milk tea less sweet with tapioca. It was great! The teas are fresh and the boba the right consistency! However I wish they had lychee or aloe to replace the boba for non boba drinkers!
This is still my favorite shop for bubble tea/tapioca. Been coming here for years. Their tapioca is soft and chewy and they offer a decent variety of flavors. +1 for their popcorn chicken too!
Good bubble tea, which has a strong “milk tea” flavor. The boba were pretty nicely cooked, my main complaint is that they use crushed ice which competes with the tapioca pearls to get into your straw. With larger ice cubes, this would’ve been a better drink.
Got the taro smoothie with boba (not taro bubble tea) and some pickled/preserved plum from their candy section (one side of the candy selection is your typical candy shop stuff and the other side is traditional Chinese preserved fruit/candy). The boba was cooked well but for a taro “smoothie” i wish it was creamier. It’s basically cooked taro blended with ice (and a little milk?) but they should up the milk ratio.
New vibes pointing to a recent remodel. Very clean looking but it feels a little sterile currently with the lack of decor. This is my longtime favorite after dinner spot for fresh fruit boba tea & smoothies in the sunset district. If you’re not sure what to get, I’d just ask what is the best seasonal fruit they have right now and get a boba / smoothie of that.
Great boba place that just reopened! They are brand new, very clean and the service was fast and nice! The ube with boba was very good, however just a bit too thick and pricey

Solid boba place, delicious black milk tea.
Nice milk tea flavor but the boba is weirdly flavorless and has a strange mouth feel (although it might be from a non dairy creamer?). A little conflicted given the quality of the tea, I'll have to try again another time with a different order.

Solid boba place, delicious black milk tea.
I was visiting from out of town and craving some boba so I searched some places up and this one looked good and was open. I arrived at 1030 and they close at midnight. I had trouble finding the place because they’re is construction going on outside and the name is covered. I walked in and the place looked odd. Every time I go into a boba shop it is bright with colors and decorations this place is he opposite of that and was dull all over the place. There was just one person working. She was taking orders and also making drinks/food at the same time. I tried the strawberry banana smoothie and oolong milk tea. The smoothie was good but very sweet. The boba inside the oolong was very hard and tasted overdone.
Way back when, people told me this was one of the best boba shops in town. Not sure that comment had held up through the years. Last time I got a guava drink and it had the strangest after taste. This time I got a matcha milk tea and it was decent but nothing to write home about. Their popcorn chicken was really good but overpriced for the amount. I'll probably drop by again if I'm in the area, but definitely not a shop I would frequent.
Oh my goodness, no no no! I'm not sure why this was highly rated as a milk tea place, but it didn't fit my tastes well at all. I opted for a regular milk tea with boba ($3, I believe), and it was too sweet. They don't have a customizable sugar level, which is a shame. But then again, it seems this place specializes more in Asian candies and the like. Anyway, there are plenty of better options for milk tea in that area, let alone all of SF. Like the i-Tea that's a couple of shops down the street.
Their oolong milk tea has hardly any tea flavor, more like watered down tea with milk. Hopes were too high
I ordered the Mango Tapioca, which was average. Its really sad that they DONT allow paying customers to use the restroom. Very limited seating (2 tables), so this is not a place where you can sit & enjoy your tea's etc.

This place leaves out their boba all day and it's hard as rocks when you come in later in the day. The recipe is always inconsistent and changing of the taste. They got a sign outside saying best boba in town honestly t pumps and quickly nearby taste way better. The portion for their popcorn chicken is so little they only give you up to half a bag. Prices been going up and no change in size or the quality of the drinks.
