Came here solo for lunch and was seated right away. The Bifana sandwich was tender and tasty and the wine was great for lunch. Will definitely come back and have some of the cod fritters and meats.
The best pineple pizza ever! Delicious pizza. They are very nice, and the food is delicious, they were pretty busy so it took a while for the rest of the food to arrive. the pizza I got was delicious and the drink too. They tried their best.
I stop coming here for a while after some very frustrating experiences. Decided to try one more and then realized the place was updated and most of the employees were new. The best part is, the food was really really good! Much better than last times I came here. Hope they maintain this level! I had the octopus plate that was delicious and of a great presentation (see picture). My family had the 4 cheese ribeye steak (delicious too! and a large portion) and Feijoada (really good, although the size of the beans and meat portion was small).
Bacalhau Grill has long been one of the favorite places to enjoy Brazilian food in the Bay Area Peninsula. Though it is a bit of a drive from our place in Palo Alto, we have been willing to drive here to get food because, according to my wife and other friends who are Brazilian, this is one of — if not the — best places in the area to get more authentic Brazilian food. The one caveat was always that the ambiance was not the nicest. It was more of a casual dining environment with really good food. However, we were very pleasantly surprised during our dining experience today to discover they did a big remodel! The space is now altogether a lot nicer. They took away the white walls, and replaced them with a nice wood paneling. As well as adding some black to make the restaurant feel more like a restaurant you would go to sit down and have dinner. As mentioned, the food is always delicious. We highly recommend ordering “The Brazilian Picanha Experience” as one of your main dishes if you haven’t tried it before. Service is friendly and sincere. Just make sure you leave yourself room for all this delicious Brazilian food; after you finish your first dish, you’ll want to order another. Best,
I ordered the Brazilian experience. The steak, rice, bread, sausages, and plantains tasted good. Although, I don’t believe the cost was worth 29.99 for an inconsistent portion. The beans and yucca were random placements for this combo. Additionally, my group had a hard time finding the entrance since the door was on the other side with no signs.
This is a restaurant/grocery store run by Brazilians. The Host was very nice and the food was good, but nothing special and nowhere close to the quantity, quality and affordability we're used to on the East Coast. We asked where do the products come from and the owner explained he imports them directly from Portugal.
I’ve only been to Portugal once but I know for sure that the cod fritters (pastéis de bacalhau) here are really good!!! It’s better than the ones I had in Portugal. I also had what I think was pastel de nata (I’m just not sure because someone made a review and called it something else). Anyway, whatever is called I didn’t like it so much because I felt the fillng was too eggy and the crust was not flaky at all. The best part was Each item was only $1.88!!! The atmosphere was a bit dark and drab. But the person at the counter was very cheerful so that was a bonus. they also have a lot of parking, but I parked at the Portuguese café on the corner and walked over. I would definitely go back to get the cod fritters and try one of the shrimp snacks as well. They also have premade food that looks sort of promising, but based on some of the reviews, I will probably have to ask the person at the counter if there’s any good. Also, FYI, the cod fritters is a little salty but obviously it has to be a little salty because it’s made with salt cod. I definitely liked it though.
The staff is always polite and welcoming, but I’ve noticed inconsistency in the food. Dishes sometimes change without notice, the meat has seemed reheated, and some menu items were missing from the plate. This has happened at least four times, even after making a long drive to dine there. When mentioned, it was denied, but it’s noticeable, especially for regular diners. More consistency and a focus on freshness would make a big difference.
Went there for Sunday lunch. It was nicely decorated behind a grocery . The service was slow as other reviewers suggested but we were not in a hurry . However the food was disappointing. The meat was so tough for both steak and the meat in the sandwich . It's surprise to see such quality in a steakhouse
I was super excited to happen upon this very unique spot and couldn’t wait to take my wife there for dinner. When it finally happened, she was as impressed with the space as I was. We both loved the steak kabob appetizer. Unfortunately, it all went downhill after that. The server was overwhelmed with two tables. We were ill attended for the remainder of our experience. This included a “Caesar” salad that looked a little like a poor excuse for a Cobb salad, with bottled dressing on the side. Our main course came out and much of it was cold; like fridge cold. The fried tilapia was good though. 1 star for being family owned; 1 star for the steak; 1 star for being unique. It’s generous, honestly.
Portuguese Food in San Jose, the restaurant is located in the Little Portugal plaza side by side to a a Trade Right Market and Liquor Portuguese Market, you can either enter through the front or the side door by way of the parking lot. A good amount of Brazilian foods. We ordered the Bacalhau a la Braz, a mixed cod fish with spices, scrambled eggs, tiny potato sticks that resemble on texture the angel hair pasta, good seasoning served with white rice and salad. We also enjoyed The yucca fries, a good size order that came hot of the frier. The pastel (empanada) a fried rectangle shaped crust pie filled with meat and cheese was served in a basket and was another item that we enjoyed. The last plate was the Chicken a la Milanesa, the chicken was tasty and was served with French fries, rice and salad. We finished our meal and bought a few Brazilian products from the store, the market offers a nice selection of Bacalhau, Linguica, Wines, condiments and specialty Portuguese items.
We made the trip down south expecting a Portuguese restaurant, and found a Brazilian eatery instead. They have an ample parking area, and seating both indoor and outdoor. Since neither of us read/speak Portuguese, the employee was very nice and showed us the prepared foods they had. They had about five dishes (Brazilian beans with pork sausage, octopus and potatoes, pork stew, shrimp and potatoes, stewed beef) and some fried foods displayed in front. We chose 'shrimp and potatoes' and 'beef', and they both came with rice and salad. She recommended the chicken filled fried item and we tried that with some fried cod croquettas. They also have a variety of canned and bottled drinks, including alcohol. There didn't seem to be any complimentary water, so you do have to buy bottled water if you want some. We got some fresh squeezed oj. They only had one large size, so we shared one. You pay, grab your drinks and pre-fried foods, pick a table, sit down and they bring you the wet foods with the rice and salad. We think they reheat it for you because it took awhile before we got our food, which worked out well because we were done with our appetizers of fried food by the time the plates arrived. The indoor dining area was clean and neat, except for the hand sanitizer pump bottles (a lot of eateries are doing this due to covid but they r usually gross with dripping or clogged pumps) and baskets of assorted sauce packets in a basket (Mayo, mustard, Cholula packets were stuck together and didn't seem too clean) on tabletops. If you have ever been to Brazil, the pre-prepared food was pretty authentic flavorwise. The fried foods weren't greasy, and the deep fried chicken salad was well done. The fried cod had lots of bones that you have to spit out. The beef had a gamey smell and slightly sour, the shrimp was plentiful but not deveined which I dislike. The rice was a tad hard and cold, the salad greens and tomatoes were very fresh. We kept asking if there was anything else because we thought there might be something other than preprepared foods but were told they only had the above. But as we left, the table near us got fresh fried fries (lol tongue twister) so we guess there may be some things you can get freshly made after all. We would say this is more of a Brazilian eats place, not a Portuguese restaurant. While they do sell both Portuguese style food items (which they do in Brazil) and Brazilian dishes prepared in the market, it is totally Brazilian in atmosphere, with Brazilian music, a large Brazilian flag. If you have been to both countries, you will feel like you are in Brazil, not in Portugal. While they do have lots of seating, it's closer in feel to a large taqueria in a Mexican market, than a restaurant, especially since they do not make/cook foods to order like a restaurant would do. After eating, we checked out the market and they have a lot of South American items, including lots of Brazilian foodstuffs like passion fruit everything. We got a large bag of a favorite Argentinian sweet treat (yellow bag in pic) for $22.10 (ten cents for a plastic bag). We tried to take pics to show the variety of items they carry, not just salted cod, they have a large selection of alcohols as well as chocolates, frozen foods like yuca, canned fish, sauces, snacks like lupini.
My fish was over-fried, bland, and served with no sauce. When I asked for the sauce since it was too dry, they said it doesn’t come with any… The servers were distracted, we couldn’t get their attention, they talked to each other instead of checking on customers. My husband’s picanha steak had an off taste (as in past expiration “off”), too. The table next to us didn’t finish their meats either…
A place with a pleasant atmosphere, different food, quite good, the problem here is the very slow and indifferent service, we arrived and despite looking at us standing there, the waiters just continued talking, I approached the counter and the waitress gave me two menus and told me to sit anywhere The service is too slow, there is a lack of customer service. Despite the place being nice and the food good, I think the service leaves me in doubt as to whether I would visit this place again. I would for the food, but for the waiters, I think I doubt it. Apparently, they are not motivated or eager to earn more tips with good service and more return customers. BAD SERVICE
This is the worst restaurant I've ever been to. The service was terrible. I went with my wife and daughters, and we waited 45 minutes without even getting our drinks. They brought us two, but one wasn't the right one. I asked for the other two, and after 15 minutes, they still hadn't brought them. Twenty minutes after we arrived, they served drinks to a table that had just arrived, and when I complained to the waiter, he ignored me. Finally, when I went to cancel the order, the cashier wanted me to pay for the drinks in full. I wouldn't go back to that restaurant even if it were free. It was my first time there, and I think it will be my last. I hope other Brazilian restaurants aren't like this one. 👎🏽
If they serve good food I don’t know what is a good food Never again I will come this place And the food my wife the bacalhau was really bad cook smelling like was never cooked. My vegetables was really dirty. That’s why you guys are always empty always. Learn to cook and serve people better…!
