Opinions de Miguel's Café San Juan
Best Mexican food in the whole NYC very vibe cozy place and food it’s just amazing. As a Mexican i highly recommend!!!
I am obsessed with Café Miguel's café de olla. I have been chasing the taste of that Mexican coffee since first trying it in Mexico City years ago, and theirs is incredible. The brunch line can be long, but it's worth it; the chilaquiles are delicious. I have no idea how they make so many different things so fast in that tiny, open air kitchen.
The place was a delight , hands dawn the best Mexican place. The food was exactly what I was craving specially the chilaquiles with the perfect flavor …. The drinks woaaaa the ambience very home is like being in the house of grandma. So expect it to be charming and have personality. Celebrated my birthday brunch after church here. Will be back every Sunday from now on !
We had a fantastic experience at this restaurant today! We arrived while traveling, still with our luggage since we hadn't checked in our hotel yet, and Miguel was incredibly kind and accommodating. He went out of his way to securely store our bags right away, making us feel so welcome from the moment we walked in. The food was absolutely delicious and blew us away. We especially loved the tortilla soup, the quesadilla de chicharrón with its perfect spicy kick, and the chai latte, which was a delightful surprise. Service was quick and friendly, and the prices were very reasonable. Highly recommend this spot if you're in the area. It's a true gem!
Hands down the best Mexican food in the area and run by the nicest of people. I’ve been going since they opened and their food is rock solid. I’m thrilled to see they’re doing so well. This is my favorite haunt for breakfast. They start to get busy around 9:30 /10am so definitely go early if you want to sit right away. Chilaquiles is my favorite order but I’ve ordered plenty of things and there isn’t a bad bite on the menu. Cafe de Olla iced or hot is the right move for coffee (spiced (not spicey) and slightly sweet). If you have an opportunity, you absolutely have to have the flan. The back patio is a great spot in the warmer weather.
Miguel Cafe is a true Mexican gem with simple, fresh ingredients and incredible flavor in every dish. The wait can be a bit long, especially on busy weekends, but staying patient really pays off because the food is amazing and the vibe feels authentically Mexican. This is the kind of spot where you eat, enjoy, then get on with your day because they are bustling with happy customers, and it is definitely a place worth coming back to soon
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 — A Hidden Williamsburg Gem Cafe Miguel in Williamsburg is an absolute must for anyone craving a real, comforting Mexican breakfast. I tried both the chorizo burrito and the applewood bacon burrito, and they were incredible — flavorful, perfectly balanced, and honestly some of the best breakfast burritos I’ve had in NYC. What truly sets this place apart is the energy behind the counter. The woman cooking had such an amazing, warm aura that it genuinely felt like stepping into someone’s home for a homemade Mexican breakfast. You can taste the love and authenticity in every bite. If you’re in Williamsburg, do yourself a favor and stop by Cafe Miguel. This spot is the real deal. 🌯🔥
What a great find! My friend and I went on an early Friday afternoon. It was a bit packed, but we were seated indoors within about 15 mins (outside seating was also available but it was a bit brisk that day). Great service, delicious food (I had an egg dish, my friend had a quinoa bowl), and lovely specialty coffees like the cozy cardamom rose latte I ordered. Will definitely be returning here. I highly recommend checking this place out, especially if you’re in a small group. Total spent with tax and tip: $54
Delicious Mexican food with a special touch! Chilaquiles arent the most traditional way you find in Mexico but they are amazing! Chorizo burrito is maybe the best one I have tried in New York. Fresh meat, and filling ingredients. The only thing I will complain is about the waiting. So if you come on the weekends make sure you have some extra time for the line and order the food. Overall is worth coming here :)
We came here for breakfast and absolutely loved it! We had the chilaquiles and the oyster mushroom burrito — both were super flavorful and perfectly cooked. The service was great and attentive, prices were very reasonable, and the whole atmosphere (including the music!) made it such a pleasant experience. But the real star? The flan ( not pictured unfortunately) . Seriously, it was out of this world — everyone needs to try it! Highly recommend this place.
I absolutely LOVED this little gem of a place!!! I grew up in Mexico & am pretty picky when it comes to Mexican food in the US. This place nails it! Had a delicious brunch. The Huevos Ahogados were amazing. Next time I’m getting the chilaquiles. The cappuccino was me of the best I’ve ever had. Can’t wait to go back!
Nice spot for breakfast. We were seated all the way in the back near the back door, so there was a bit of a draft, which wasn’t ideal given the freezing temperatures. The latte was amazing—definitely the highlight for me. My girlfriend was a big fan of the steak burrito, while I found it just okay. The huevos rancheros were also decent but nothing special. Overall, it was a decent experience, though not something to write home about.
I waited almost an hour to get seated (on a saturday) so be aware that there’s a long wait. Had the chilaquiles with chicken tinga I was expecting something way better but i’m probably bias since I know authentic mexican food. The horchata latte was not drinkable WAY too much cinnamon they changed it for me and it was still not good. The manager didn’t charge me for it which was cool. I wouldn’t go back tbh
Amazing food, less than stellar service unfortunately. I wanted to leave 4 stars but can’t in good conscience-it took about 20 minutes for someone to take our order and then an additional 35 minutes for the food to come out; apparently there was an order mixup in the kitchen. Portion sizes for the burrito are also a bit underwhelming (photo doesn’t accurately depict the small size). Taste is there for this place though! Just maybe better off ordering takeout well in advance.
The food really was not that tasty and it was not an explosion of flavor like one of the reviewers said for the tetletas unfortunately. Still the atmosphere was amazing and our waitress was exceptionally attentive and anticipated our needs. The portion sizes were also very small unfortunately as you can see from the the photo for the tetela it's just a snack really. I may try again for a different meal but neither the tetela or hinges burrito did it. I also had a tumeric latte and that was great.
As a frequent customer at this restaurant, our most recent visit was so bad that we won't be coming back. The food was delicious. However, the female staff service was unbelievably poor. Specifically the female staff serving for backyard area. This female staff was inattentive from the moment we sat down. We had to wait over 10 minutes to get water, cups, and utensils, and only after we asked for them. When we finally placed our order, we specifically requested no cilantro, but the request was ignored and our food was served with it. Everyone in the bark yard was treated in the same inattentive and disrespectful manner. The server's lack of care and professionalism was the primary reason for our one-star rating. I hope the owner addresses this issue, as this kind of service could really hurt their business.
