Excellent food and service. I was expecting average food, but they greatly exceeded my expectations! The pork belly is the best! Deserts were the best my family and had in a long time - California Lime Pie and The Landslide Cake.

Stopped in the restaurant for a late lunch after hiking at Salmon Creek. Beautiful views and good food. Enjoyed the burger and some coffee after while walking the grounds. Unfortunately it was chilly the day we were there otherwise we’d have loved to enjoy the outdoor seating!

My sister and I had a great experience here! We stopped on the way back from Hearst Castle. The service was great and food came out fast and was delicious, the waitress was super friendly and helpful, and the views were phenomenal. I would definitely stop here again.

if you want a romantic weekend with your special person, I highly recommend Ragged Inn! Hotel was clean, great customer service and food too. In the middle of forest and sea. Stunning views!

The Creme Brûlée French toast was so yummy!! The views were amazing and service was prompt. I'm very glad we decided to head up there while on our vacation. They have a nature trail, it is a bit rough to get down, but worth every second!

Clean and friendly staff. Food was fast fresh and the quantity was great! Limited menu but variety was nice. There was something for everyone and the view was amazing! A really nice, quiet and uncrowded spot to dine.

Beautiful place along the coast, nice ocean view. Good service and good food. Price was good also. We got 2 kids order with drinks, a great beet salad to start. My wife order scallops and I order duck, also a glass of wine and a beer. We finish our dinner with a smore cheese cake. Everything was delicious. And we spent 150 with 20% tip. We thought price was fair.

Great place to stop on the way up or down highway 1. Cafe was closed so we went to the dining center for a coffee but ended up getting dinner. Server was very friendly, polite and cheerful. Branzino and crab cakes were great. Food was a little pricey, but given the location and ambiance, it was expected. They have amazing indoor as well as outdoor seating (with umbrellas and heaters). Don't forget to check out the little coy fish pond! Amazing views all around! A solid 5 star experience and would def come here again!

We had a very pleasant lunch. The outside patio was open and the sun was shining with no wind. The clam chowder was delicious! We took a little walk around the property and enjoyed the ocean views!

Very cosy restaurant! Stopped by here for lunch, and ordered their burger, which was recommended by the staff. Added American Cheese because a good burger must have cheese in it. The burger was very tasty, and easily one of the best burgers I've eaten in US. It goes really well with beige/pink sauce (not sure what it was). Would recommend!

We went here for lunch after the Piedras Blancas lighthouse tour. It is such a beautiful place! We chose to sit on the outdoor patio to enjoy the lovely weather and views. The chicken sandwich was amazing!! We walked the grounds afterwards to check out the lookout spots over the ocean. We also went for some coffee at the little coffeehouse and that was great as well. Our only complaint was about the service. The hostess and waitress both seemed like they hate their jobs. They didn’t do anything rude, they were just miserable looking…dunno, maybe just a bad day? Either way, I’d still recommend the place because of the views and peaceful atmosphere.

I'm surprised by the low reviews of this restaurant .... this place is fantastic! We came here for dinner after an 8 mile long hike in the Big Sur wilderness and were blessed with a fresh, hearty meal. Let's start with the atmosphere! The entire restaurant is covered in glass, so the breathtaking views of ragged point - the foamy ocean waves, the precipitous sea cliffs, the golden bluffs of the Silver Peak Wilderness - hit you from all directions. The service was very good. Our waiter took our order right away and our food was brought out soon after. Saving the best for last ... the food was FIRE! I got the chicken achiote. The chicken was perfectly tender and the risotto was delightfully creamy. My mom got the fish & chips and thought they were delectable. The halibut was extremely juicy and the fries were warm, crispy and not at all greasy! What really impressed us was how fresh our food was. After a long, exhausting hike, our meal at Ragged Point Restaurant was a welcoming and nourishing end to our day. We 100% recommend this restaurant for any occasion!

What a great escape! Gorgeous views and great food! Perfect for a weekend getaway or in need of getting out of town for a bit. Short Ribs-really delicious served with mashed potatoes and veggies Mango avacado salad- 👌 They also had gluten free bread, huge bonus points for the wifey

Have been back several times due to their exceptional breakfast! Their fresh bread, biscuits, and jam are the best I’ve tried from anywhere in the world. Before that I’d have said that Canada had the best breakfast, but not anymore! The egg dishes are great and so are the side potatoes. The cafe au lait is great and the soy chorizo is a must try too. We always take the detour (due to road closures) on the way to Big Sur 😁 due to the great views and serene setting

We had dinner at Ragged Point Restaurant and made it just in time for sunset! Starved, we ordered fresh oysters, the filet, and ribeye. The ribeye was HUGE and perfectly cooked. Everything was mouthwatering! High on a cliff top, the property is gorgeous with indoor and outdoor seating, and just steps away from stunning views of the Big Sur coast where you can sit and watch a stunning sunset! They also have a firepit area where to host live music. Need a break from the road on your Highway 1 road trip? Ragged Point Inn is right next door.

Eating there was delightful. The weather was perfect, the staff excellent, the view (we ate outside) quintessential Big Sur. There’s a short path around the cliff top with more views.

First off, you must go for a walk on the grounds and see a unique view of Big Sur! We did and we loved it! Lunch was great with three of us ordering the fantastic fish and chips! One of us went for a generous side of tasty sweet potato fries...all at very fair prices and in an amazingly beautiful restaurant. We will be back for sure!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Ragged Point – Amazing Breakfast Spot! Ragged Point served one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had. The eggs were fluffy, the potatoes crispy, and the veggie omelet full of fresh flavor. The sourdough bread with butter and homemade fruit jam was incredible. Everything tasted homemade and fresh. The staff were super friendly, and the ocean view made it even better. A must-stop!

We were seated immediately, the restaurant was pretty busy despite being off season. I ordered two appetizers: crab cakes and mushroom bisque. They were excellent. 4.5/5 My son and I ordered the ribeye for dinner and it was exceptional. It was served with a bourbon demi glaze along with asparagus and a potato 5/5 . My wife had shrimp diablo pasta. They were also good - the shrimp was perfectly cooked . 4.5/5 We all agreed this place was a solid /10 - since they’re already close to a 5 star, I’ll vote 4 star since they’re not a 5/5. The service was exceptional. The waiter on staff was the only one there - he was swamped yet we were greatly attended to. 10/5 for him, he was excellent.

Amazing spot for dinner. The views were breathtaking, the staff extremely accommodating. The appetizer steak skewers made for a delicious light dinner, paired with the wild mushrooms soup and a salad.

One of the best stops along highway 1. Good food, great views. Enjoy a coffee and shop or have a fun filled meal with family. Great ambience, choose from indoor or outdoor setting. Awesome food, great service. The Mediterranean platter was awesome and clam chowder was authentic. Salmon was fresh and cooked to perfection. Only complain the fries could have been better

Beautiful dining area, great service and food! I ordered the street tacos and they didnt dissapoint, for $15 they have a lot of meat, good cheese and were very filling. Took a second order to go and had those while camping. I recommend the OJ since its super fresh and not diluted at all, if you dont mind some pulp. The scenery is peaceful and really breezy, the ocean views are a few yards away.

What a great hidden gem. Nestled in a forest like environment, it's quaint and homey. The restaurant and coffee bar are excellent. Great staff and service. Good food and coffee. Gas station on site. Lots of parking. Great views. Walk around and see the sites including the beautiful ocean.

Although we stayed at Treebones, this restaurant was a surprise highlight of our trip! We were looking for restaurants in the area (there are few) and came across this one. The inside of the restaurant is very unassuming with a somewhat sterile feel, but the outside patio is perfect. I’d recommend sitting out there for sunset. Loved all the salads and the fish was delicious! Crab cakes were pretty tasty too. After dinner, we walked down toward the beach. Views are incredible. What a gem!

I rarely provide reviews, but the breakfast we had at Ragged Point was outstanding in every way! The coffee was d'lish, the bay shrimp, spinach, mushroom, swiss cheese omelete with half of a perfect avocado on top was memorable, and yummy potatoes, fruit, home made jam! The portions were very generous and the settling was charming and beautiful. It should be noted that they stop serving breakfast at 11 a.m.

Wow talk about amazing scenery. The drone shots really give you a vivid view of how beautiful the scenery is. The staff was friendly the clam chowder was to die for, The spinach salad with pomegranate, blueberries and balsamic vinegar dressing was fresh.. It’s only about 25 minutes north of Cambria on Hwy1 but certainly worth the drive.

We got a rosemary scone, vanilla coffee bean cake, and two lattes. The price was pretty high. The scone was amazing, one of the best I have had. Although the coffee bean cake was good, it was not an $8 slice. That was a rip off. Latte was nice and creamy. Nothing to write home about. The bathrooms were as bad as highway truck stop bathrooms. Looked like they haven’t been cleaned in a week.

Food is not bad, but not what i expected from the description. Mushroom bisque was a lil watery and a ton of pine nuts kinda threw me off, crab cakes are pretty good, pasta had quite a bit of raw onion, the halibut was a lil bland so the sweetness from butternut squash puree took over... leeks are also undercooked, giving it that onion sting. The short ribs, which are actually beef ribs, is the best dinner entree. The ribeye skewers are pretty good too. Oysters came out raw, even though the description said it was supposed to be torched, but not bad in taste.

A brautiful stop along the Pacific Coast. Great choice of fresh food. Lovely views of the ocean. A nice nature trail with picnic tables under the trees. You can even walk down the cliff on a very steep walkway to get closer views of the crashing waves..Public restrooms and beautiful landscaped grounds.

I didn’t expect much due to the bad Google reviews. However our food was quite good. I had clam chowder in a home baked bread bowl, my husband tacos with 2 sauces. We also had blue cherry cake which was just ok. We sat inside because it was quite windy outside. The view was still great. The restrooms outside are indeed very dirty, use the indoor restrooms instead.

This was a great find for a lunch on our road trip. It had a very unique menu. The staff was very friendly. But dang, the flies! They tried to deal with them by placing the spinners on the table but that doesn't help the ones swarming your face. If they could resolve that issue, this would be a great little place.

We came here for Sunday brunch, as well as breakfast a couple days later. This place is beautiful! The views of the ocean are stunning. Prices actually aren't too bad given the view/location, pretty standard restaurant prices. The chorizo eggs benedict and the carne asada chilaquiles with red sauce were both DELICIOUS! Highly recommend. The brisket hash wasn't really a hash, more just a little pile of meat with eggs on top. The flavors were good, it just wasn't what we wanted/expected. The crab cake benedict was the whole reason we went back the second time, and it honestly left a lot to be desired. There wasn't much structure to the crab cake. I don't know if maybe it was soggy from the spinach or what, but it was kind of a bummer. Overall, it was good enough to where we'll come back when camping in the area. Pro tip: if you're going to hike down to the beach, do it BEFORE you fill your belly. The hike back up was rough with a belly full of eggs benedict!

Purchased dessert and a croissant sandwich from the coffee shop. It was exactly what I needed at that moment. The croissant was buttery, crispy and cheesy. The lemon cream pie was like cheesecake.. delicious. It is a little on the sweeter side. There was live music when we got to the location. That was pleasant.

We enjoyed our stop off at Ragged point. The view from our outside table was spectacular and seeing the little hummingbirds sitting around was great! The food choice was a little limited but what we had was tasty. Would recommend a stop here if in the area.

This was a nice restaurant. I was grateful it wasn't overpriced because of the location. I had the salad with shrimp and the key lime pie. The salad was awesome. The key lime pie was just ok. It was nice that it wasn't overly sweet, but it had little to no key lime flavor. The customer service was interesting. The young ladies that worked there handled everything except for picking up the check. Are they not trusted to do so? Idk. I just found it odd. The grounds were beautiful and definitely worth walking around. If you are on a long journey and need to stretch your legs or let the kids get some energy out, this is the place. It has a field with trees. There is also beach access where you can walk down a bunch of stairs. It looks as if it's not for the faint of heart. At the bottom there is a black sand beach.

Driving up PCH highway we made a stop here for lunch. The food was decent but for what we got the prices were a bit expensive. The area is really nice being so close to the ocean and the grounds were well maintained but I am not sure we would come and dine at this place again.

We came here on a Sunday in June around 1 pm. We were seated fairly quickly and the young lady who was at the front wasn't too friendly, she didn't acknowledge my comment about not knowing which door to come in through. When she seated us and we said thank you, we just got a "mmhmm" it's not really friendly but it's not extremely rude either. Maybe she was having a bad day, I don't know; but that's something I would hate to see happen in my restaurant. It's a terrible first impression for the customer. On the other hand, the other waitresses were much more friendly. We ordered the Brisket Hash and the Acai Bowl from the brunch menu. Food was okay, nothing spectacular or super special about it. The presentation of the food was great but just judging off of the taste it was okay. The brisket is pretty plain but mixed with the brussel sprouts and other veggies within the hash it was alright. The Acai Bowl according to my kid was average and the biscuits were good. The biscuits went well with the jelly, butter and I think it's a honey type dip that came with it. Overall my experience here at the restaurant was decent, I didn't come in with high expectations but it's a restaurant that serves some interesting dishes and the prices are pretty fair in my book. Maybe the Sunday brunch menu isn't for me. So I might come back to try other things on the menu the next time around. But the hostess up front definitely needs to work on her customer service skills.

We had the Oysters on the half shell…DoNot get them! Both of us got sick!!! They were not cleaned properly and we had mouthfuls of shell pieces!! Both of us got sick that night and had digestive issues! The crab cakes were delicious! And the Caesar salad with shrimp was excellent!

We came for lunch yesterday. The staff was just fine but I guess it could be better. We ordered Ragged Point Burger and Banh Mi. Both were not good in a way that the Banh Mi did not have any Banh Mi flavor or taste. The burger was so bland even after put together with the bacon and stuff. The chef needs to be replaced or the menu. Not worth the price

Arrived here around 10am to get gas and take a break during my one day road trip. The restroom was terrible beyond any description. The restaurant food was okay; service was good. Several vegetarian options available. I personally like the lotus flower pond by the outdoor dining area

P
Patrick Donnelly

The food was mediocre. Crab cakes were done with salsa and beans for some reason, which just didn't work. The soup was thin, but flavorful. The osso bucco was tasteless and the accompanying risotto was so mushy it was like oatmeal. The pork chops were pretty good but the broccolini was bland. The deserts, no matter how decadent, tasted old and not fresh and just boring. We paid a total of $180 including tip for dinner for 2 and we both agreed we would have been just as happy with some frozen stuff from Trader Joe's. The service was pleasant and efficient and the atmosphere was enjoyable.

P
Phil Ortiz

This should be a 5 star rating. What is making this a one star is something personal. I forgot my bag, left it hanging on the seat. I really enjoying the atmosphere, my pie (amazing!!) Apple and blackberry...so good and homemade. I had a great conversation with Erin (the guy that sold me the pie). Said our good buys (leaving my bag hanging on the chair) and after 30-45 minutes out. I receive a phone call from an elderly couple that tried to turn the bag (my bag) to Erin...his demeanor was one of no concern and said just leave it there and they’ll be back. Fortunately for me; they were proactive in finding me and called me; we met up and I received my bag. A blessing in disguise. Lesson...make sure you grab all your stuff before you leave...because if you don’t, this staff member isn’t too concerned nor his counter part “Dulsa” she wasn’t very helpful at all. The pie is amazing!!

This review is for a lunch meal and at the sit-down restaurant. Traveling along the coast from Morro Bay on CA HWY 1. Need to find a spot to have lunch. Perfect timing that this place came up. Got seated right way and I ordered the Mediterranean salad. Was a good portion, fresh ingredients with the right amount of protein (shrimp). If I were going to go back, I would recommend it. The ambiance is like dining in a greenhouse with a patio deck available. Very welcoming and pleasant service staff. Plenty of free parking and restroom are very clean. Ragged Point is more of a complex; it has an Inn, convenience/fuel station, art gallery/gift shop, coffee shop/snack bar, and burger shop (which was closed). Based on this experience alone, I would have given them 5 stars. However, read on. We continued our drive up the coast and did some hiking. Knowing that we would stop here for dinner, because we had such an enjoyable meal for lunch. Boy was this not the case. We were totally disappointed. Seated right away, but took a long time to for someone to take our drink order and meal order. Staff are over worked and seem and confused. We saw some people seated after us get their orders in before us. If we had other options, we would have left. But remember you do not have a lot of options on CA HWY 1. Ordered the Pork Chop, It was supposed to be a Iberico Tomahawk, it wasn’t, it was a regular pork chop (be it was a good size). Supposed to come with Apple-Potato Hash, I received regular mash potatoes. Supposed to be Grilled Broccollini it was raw broccoli. When we did get our drink order in earlier, I requested a glass of Chardonay, never received it, but also didn’t get charged. The menu does state the pork chop “(cooked medium)” mine was questionable (as a matter of personal preference I never send anything back, I've been known to box it up and cook it longer at home, rather than sending it back). I noticed two other dinners send their steaks back because it was undercooked. This meal was not worth the cost or time. I would not recommend you dining here. However, do stop, because of the views are wonderful.

Posting a review for our second visit to Ragged Point Inn Restaurant. Our first time was great, we had both a breakfast and dinner, the quality of which was surprisingly good. On our most recent trip, however, we had a shockingly bad experience. We reserved a table for 6 people about a month in advance for Thanksgiving dinner. We called to confirm those reservations again about a week in advance, and at that same time, received an e-mail advertisement inviting customers to join them for a special Thanksgiving dinner. When we arrived at 6pm, we waited 5-10 minutes before any hostess or server even appeared. When one did, she informed us there were no inside seats left. I questioned how that was possible if we'd reserved over a month in advance, and she replied 'everyone else reserved as well'. Which obviously isn't helpful since 'everyone else' was seated and we weren't. After another 5 minute wait, the hostess informed us they might have a table available in 10 minutes. This was puzzling since there were literally two empty tables in the middle of the restaurant in full view from the entrance. They did find a table, next to a window (not one of the two empty tables in the middle of the restaurant), and it was another 10 minutes before a waiter or waitress approached our table. That waitress seemed surprised, and took our drink orders only. Another 5 minutes passed and an older gentleman asked if we were ready to order. Most of us ordered the Thanksgiving meal special. It came out fairly quickly, but one or two meals came out well after, and were incomplete. The Thanksgiving meal special (which was approximately $60) was inedible. The meat was gristly with lots of fat. The green-beans were undercooked, and the stuffing looked as if it had been poured dry onto the plate (rather than moistened or actually stuffed in a bird). The gravy was cold. Two other tables (on either side of us) complained to the waiter about the meal and refused to pay. To the waiter's credit, he said they would not be charged. We also politely told him that that the Thanksgiving meals were horrendous, and he, without question removed them from the bill without argument (as if waitstaff and anyone else already knew what they were serving was not something they could seriously charge anyone for). Throughout it all, there was no manager present. The hostess was incompetent and the food was atrocious. Maybe they sent regular staff home for the holiday and brought in a temporary team for the special holiday dinner. Whatever the reason, it may have been the worst restaurant experience we've had in 10 years and ruined a holiday meal (for which it was too late to organize anything else). I strongly recommend avoiding Ragged Inn Restaurant based on this, particularly for any special event or holiday.
