Update — I first gave this place a 4 star rating due to the pollo pibil… but I’ve been back twice more and Meztico has come to be one of my favorites in town. Yes I got the ceviche de salmon again but I love it for the service and the atmosphere just as much. Professional service in a beautiful room. Looking forward to cominn back! …. I walked my dogs past this place for months, and marveled at how empty it was for such a gorgeous space. I'd say "we have to try this place", but I'd read mixed reviews of both the food and service. We went as a table of 4 last night, and the result was pretty good. First, the service was impeccable. Our waiter (wish I'd gotten his name) was attentive and clearly well trained, in terms of his plating and presentation skills. The captain checked on us multiple times to make sure everything was ok. The cocktails are diverse and well-prepared. The panela cheese appetizer was kind of boring, but the ceviche de salmon was one of the best dishes I've had in a year in Mexico. Fantastic! The mains were a mixed bunch. My wife's sopa azteca was good but not great; the tacos de friol tiesos were good, the camarones coco were great. But my pollo pibil asado was disappointing. "Pibil" implies a technique to me; that the chicken is actually slow roasted in achiote. This was plain roasted chicken served with achiote sauce. Not bad, just not as I expected. The menu offered numerous other good-looking dishes, so I'm sorry I ordered the chicken. The "rol de romero" dessert is outstanding and unlike anything I've tasted before. I'd go back (for that ceviche dish if nothing else).
Excellent choice for breakfast; they accept reservations, which makes things easier. The service from everyone is very good. The food takes a while to come out, but I suppose that's due to the number of people at my table. Even though there were a lot of us, we only had one server, but he managed to provide good service and was quick about everything. The dishes are very generous and offer good value.
Try the breakfast / brunch. Chilaquiles are tasty, coffee is good too. They have a nice kids play area :)
Amazing variety of grilled meat and Mexican delicacies, beautiful place!
Value for Money. Excellent and best service in whole of Mexico. Super tasty food, like the Filets (tenderloin), heated on the salt stone, just melts on your tongue. Cocktails are high quality, fresh and not too sweet or sour, just right. Highly recommend this place as i have not experienced any better service and food before.
it was just perfect from the beginning until the end. The waiters were extremely friendly and almost reading our wishes. Some of them spoke perfect English. The drinks were super good and food even better. Defenitely new favourite restaurant.
A good place to eat mexican food, the place is not crowded and has great prices for the quality of drinks and food the serve. All that I tried was tasty, and the atmosphere of the place allowed me to talk and have a good time with the customer I took there.
The restaurant has a clean and sophisticated atmosphere. It's spacious and airy. Despite being on a main road, it's difficult to park, and there's no parking lot, which is why I'm giving it a minus star. There is valet parking, but it's hard to find. So I often park nearby. Another reason I'm giving it a minus star is because the staff were slow to notice us, or a little intimidating toward customers. This could still be improved. The food is delicious, but the meat dishes may not be as good as those at other restaurants. My favorites here are the ceviche and shrimp pasta; the flavors are to suit Japanese palates, and the shrimp were very large and fresh.
The place has a great atmosphere, is spacious, and well-ventilated. It has a playroom, which is fantastic for going with children. The staff is incredibly attentive. The portions are generous, some even large enough to share. The downside: starting with the parking, it's a nightmare. There's valet parking, but it takes forever to pick up and drop off because there's no space. The tortillas were pre-packaged, which detracts from the overall experience.
Avenida Carranza is probably the most popular street in San Luis Potosi. Every Sunday the avenue is closed down to traffic allowing joggers, walkers and dog lovers the freedom pass through the street and enjoy the views of some of the old hispanic architecture, the park, the churches and most of all you can see alot of the restaurants available for visiting. For most of the year we’ve been passing through the street noticing that Meztico would open at some point. The place looked pretty interesting from outside. Lovey esthetic. They were playing music on the inside so whenever you walk past you get more intrigued about what this place would be.We were anxiously awaiting the opening. When we eventually got the chance to visit we were pleasantly suprised on how it looks on the inside. The decor is rough and earth with dimmed lighting. Looks pretty perfect for a nice fancy dinner with your special someone, business partners and even your family. Coming to the parts that matter, the menu is pretty typical Mexican premium restaurant. They offer your main cuts of meat, fish, tacos and ofcourse a desert offering that includes tres leches cake. The service was pretty average for this being a prime restaurant. Food came quick but but was missing that something special that would put it apart from others. We started with the bone marrow tacos, which came fast but were overcooked and dry. A sign that it was pre made and left i. The oven too long. Along with that we had the crab salad, which as you can see is a tiny fried crab on a big bed of salad. The crab almost have zero meat but fried crab shell tastes good. Would have appreciated 1 more crab. Overall the salad was good For mains we opted to share the speciality which is the “cabrito al pastor” grilled goat meat. It arrived next to a salad and nothing else. The meat was a little overcooked dry and a little tough. Kind of how you would get it if you made it at home in the oven. The meal felt incomplete it needed a side dish and sauce to go with it to make it worth the price you pay. After cutting away the bone and fat not much meat was left to enjoy. At that point we were really looking for something special, trying to connect the anticipation with something real. We ordered the rib brisket barbacoa. It arrived wrapped in a banana leaf was juicy and tender. This tasted amazing and finally something we could recommend, and was in the end their saving grace. Our wine was the Bons Ventos red, probably the highlight of the night, which is sad because its the one thing that was not made there.
