Opinions de l'Om 'd Fer Sant'Ambrogio di Torino
A modern restaurant housed in the ancient 11th-century abbey castle of Sant'Ambrogio, commissioned by Barbarossa, respecting the ancient walls. The setting is truly evocative, and the dishes are truly tasty and beautiful to look at. Tradition and innovation combine flavors. The artichoke with mortadella mousse and the toma cheese ravioli are truly delicious. The risotto with creamed pumpkin, prawns, and cocoa crumble is fantastic, as is the Fassona beef medallion. The desserts are fabulous, especially the creamy Moscato zabaglione. The prices are more than in line with the quality and the dishes. We will definitely be back to try other dishes.
For our wedding lunch, we entrusted Francesco and Lucia with the planning, and it was a wonderful experience. Helpful, kind, and incredibly professional, they turned our vision into reality. The dishes were impeccable, both visually and tastefully. We and our guests were thrilled. Highly recommended!
I had dinner here with my wife. High-quality food from a well-constructed menu. Friendly and helpful staff, beautiful location. The desserts were also delicious. Digestion (a less bucolic but important aspect) was uneventful. Fair prices. I will definitely return and bring more people.
The best choice I could have made for an anniversary dinner. An intimate venue, meticulously maintained and clean down to the smallest detail. Excellent quality ingredients for tasty and satisfying dishes. Extraordinarily friendly staff. A magical evening, thank you. We'll be back for the view, because yesterday, between darkness and rain, it was the only thing we couldn't enjoy.
A charming location, impeccable service. We were recommended an excellent wine, and the food was excellent both in appearance and taste. Friendly and very professional. Congratulations!
The location is simple but very well-kept, a quiet restaurant with discreet and impeccable service. The 5 stars are primarily for the dishes, which are truly meticulously prepared and excellent. Special mention goes to the poached egg with fava beans and cocoa...a spectacle. Compliments to the chef.
Restaurant in a renovated old building, with a well-prepared and surprising menu. The service is constantly attentive. The price/quality ratio is very good. A highly recommended experience.
An intimate, very elegant restaurant with impeccable service, and the food is fantastic. It's my favorite restaurant. 💖 I have dietary restrictions, and the chef always manages to prepare variations that suit my needs, all without sacrificing the flavor and elegance he brings to his dishes. I highly recommend it 💖💖
A very charming and unique place nestled in a mountain village. Nice atmosphere. The only flaw is that some of my friends went in person to ask if there was room while I was rushing to call and was told there was no more room. My friends said yes, there was room. All evening until the end of dinner, the place was only a quarter full. That's not a good presentation. Otherwise, the atmosphere was nice and welcoming, and the food was excellent. Compliments to the chef and the friendly guy who served us. Anyone who happens to be in the area should definitely go there once in their life.
Exquisite food and dessert
While I never give five stars to my first meal, I found this restaurant to be a very pleasant surprise. The location is beautifully renovated, the service is prompt, courteous, and with a touch of humanity that never hurts, and the cuisine is excellent and reasonably priced. The wine list emphasizes local products. Highly recommended.
If you want to eat well, quality food, and enjoy a quiet meal, this is the ideal place. Highly recommended.
Restaurant review. Om 'd Fer is the result of a well-done renovation of an ancient medieval castle, located in the center of Sant'Ambrogio and right on the road leading to the Sacra di San Michele. The location is beautiful, offering a beautiful view and the contrast between the stone and the glass; the dining room is warm, and the tables are well spaced. We were also very pleased with the food: beautiful selections, good-quality ingredients, and excellent preparation techniques. The appetizers are the highlights, with refined flavors and perfectly harmonious pairings; the first courses are also excellent and balanced in flavor (just a few concerns about the quality of the shrimp used); the second courses are also good (with the exception of the pumpkin fondue, which we didn't particularly enjoy). The Barbera is also excellent. Overall, I'd give the food a 4.5, with a fifth star that I don't feel comfortable giving for three reasons: 1) The service was courteous, but detached and never smiling, almost intimidating (more than one diner pointed this out to me). 2) The portions seemed too small for some appetizers and main courses (all the first courses were fine). 3) At a table with 10 seats and a €400 lunch, they charged a one-year-old €2 for the mere use of a stool at the table: it's like "getting lost in a glass of water." Note: If you bring a cake, you'll be charged €1.50 per person for cutting it.
Nice interior and nice food. Worth a visit
I ate well, the raw materials were of high quality, the menu was innovative, the service was a bit detached, the location had great potential, but I have to make a point... the website does not specify that to reach the restaurant, there is a steep climb, I did not have any inconvenience but if there had been a person with some difficulty with me... it would have been a problem, I advise the owner to mention this when booking.
This review is about the rooms, not the restaurant. The rooms are on the lower floor. Ours was very spacious, simple but clean. There was no television. I would add an extra lamp on the second bedside table because the overhead lights were definitely too bright. The bathroom could use a renovation. The location on the Via Francigena is excellent.
