What a neat place! I had the dinner version of their beef skewers. The vegetables were perfectly cooked. Al Dente. The highlight of the meal for me was their fire oven baked chocolate chip cookie. I am posting a photo of this most amazing creation. I sat at the bar across from the oven and watched my cookie baking. It was served with vanilla ice cream and fresh whipped cream with a chocolate drizzle. This cookie all by itself makes a return visit a must!
I live in walking distance and thought I'd try the asian nachos. Had something similar at a popular joint in Hawaii and these Nachos were just as good. Also they had a good selection on tap, the Chimay hit the spot for my Friday night relaxation. I'll have to come more often and try out more.
Really tasty selections. The pretzel came with 2 delicious sauces a honey mustard and a garlic onion cheese. I also got the pesto shrimp pasta. It was a flavorful walnut pesto that came with a good amount of shrimp. The dried tomatoes that were in it added a nice sweetness and acid.
Don’t you love it when you try someplace you’ve never been and you love it! That was our experience we had a child who loved his pizza and 3 adults who found it hard to make a choice but ended up so satisfied with their meal and want to come back again. The service was awesome, attentive and fun, the atmosphere was laid back and peaceful even with tv’s turned on to Dodgers baseball and football games and the food was fresh, well prepared and delicious. We felt prices were very reasonable and being able to order half plates kept us from feeling stuffed when we left. I will certainly be back next time I’m in town and I’m certain my family who lives here will be back many times. Thanks for a great meal and evening.
The service was fast and friendly even though there was a bit of a dinner rush! We ordered pizza, chicken Caesar salad and a chicken mushroom sandwich. All of the food was delicious and fresh. Highly recommend
This place is the best! Vanessa is such a nice person and gives the best service ever! I recommend The Abbey Burger, it is the best burger and when I ate it, the tomatoes were perfect. I eat at a lot of high end places and this places burgers go toe-to-toe with the really high end restaurants.
Lived in SoCal all my life. Seal Beach is one of my favorite places to hangout. I've always walked past The Abbey on the opposite side of the street. When my nephew visited from Idaho, we walked by the Abbey one night and he wanted to go in. We did and we're greeted by this really friendly guy who cleared off a table for us. We looked at the menu and ordered. The food was fantastic and the background music was awesome. I couldn't believe that I had never eaten, or even been inside this place before. I first took notice of it when Mark McGuire was doing some soft advertising for it on TV interviews. Now, it's one of my very favorite restaurants in Seal Beach! Love it!!! And, my nephew loved it too! :D
Nice place, friendly, helpful service. Really good burgers and chicken sandwiches. They play 90s music, which is a nice change from what I'm used to. Fun place. Juicy burgers, so try not to wear it!
We love this place! Johnny made us feel like a regular and served up great cocktails and food. Get the chicken pot pie (if they haven't sold out) or a brick oven pizza. Too bad we missed Tommy who was out cheering on the Packers, but we'll catch him next time.
We ate here on Oct 14th. Heidi was our server and she was fantastic. We were able to sit at the only outside table and it was perfect for soaking up the cozy beach town atmosphere. Pizza and beer were A+. We look forward to returning.
THE BEST sweet potato fries I have ever eaten! Ordered the happy hour sliders and they were perfect for dinner with the fries. My kids enjoyed the pizza, too. Great service, fun atmosphere, and a short walk from the beach and our hotel.
Our first time here: we got a gift card from a friend. I ordered the salmon BLT: yummy! There are other things I'd like to try next time, as well as some of their other beers. We had a great meal, great service, then a relaxing stroll to the pier. Very nice evening!
This place is amazing. We frequent the abbey whenever possible. Great food, great staff. Follow my account for true unbiased reviews
Service was amazing! Fast and very courteous. Went here on a business trip with a coworker and we each got a personal pan wood fired oven pizza and it was delicious. The sauce was slightly sweet but not distracting and the thin crust was perfectly crispy. Had a couple glasses of a red blend that paired perfectly. The atmosphere was conducive for having a conversation and not too loud. I will definitely be coming back here again the next time I am in town on business.
Great little neighborhood pub and grille with woodfired pizza and a great beer selection as highlights. Liked it on my first visit and have grown to love it -- the vibe, the people, the service, the food. Located in the heart of old town Seal Beach, this is a well-kept secret by the locals.
Fantastic! The fish and chips was really good. Fam also liked the pizza and the tacos.
My husband and I didn't realize but we came for happy hour, it was after 2:00. We each got the 805 beer which was fantastic. We got the discounted meals. my husband got the sliders ($9) which were delicious and I got the buffalo chicken and french fries for $6 happy hour price. we enjoyed our food and we'd come back if we lived in the area.
The Abbey is a delightful find in Seal Beach. We loved sitting outside and eating and meeting the people and their dogs on the patio. The inside seating is good with a nice Cheers-style neighborhood bar. The service is excellent and the servers were perky and helpful. I ordered the healthy artichoke and spinach salad. The dressing was excellent. My husband enjoyed the turkey burger. We highly recommend this hidden gem.
This place was AMAZING!! I don’t rate often, but I felt this place deserved it. Me and my mom shared a small pizza (Brussel sprout and bacon) and chicken pesto sandwich. It was delicious to say the absolute least. The crust on the pizza was thin, crisp, and the slices weren’t too big. The sandwich’s ciabatta bread was fluffy and buttery, which was the perfect balance for the large piece of chicken. And I just have to add, as a ranch girl, both dishes were so good I didn’t even use my ranch.
Love the atmosphere at The Abbey in Seal Beach of a Main Street feel with stores and restaurants on either side. Everyone seems happy. The food is fresh and you can find healthy dishes. The homemade soups are amazing. I will be coming back to this place as much as I can. I love soups. 🥰❤️
Super awesome menu and all of the trimmings you could want. Comes with great beer, great wine, stone fired pizza super quiet atmosphere, etc. Even if you don’t want pizza, you can’t go wrong with the rest of the menu.
Hits the spot every time... their party melt is the best i e ever had. Great way to start a laidback Wednesday cause it's Wine Wednesday all day... Just got back and had the best patty melt of my life...
Seriously the BEST BURGER in Seal Beach. Great beer and wine selection, but the staff and their welcoming culture are really what makes it worth every returning trip. I love the Asian Nachos as well as the pizza/salad combo. Can't go wrong at The Abbey and I love their outdoor dining options now.

Kassandra was an excellent waitress Emma the hostess was very helpful excellent teamwork overall. I'll be back again thank you keep up the good work
I work around the corner been able to eat here a few times. I usually sit at the bar. Sometimes I feel like the bartender can read my mind. I've tried the fried chicken sandwich, sausage pizza which they roll the dough and put in the fire pizza oven. I've had the burgers and like a child the buffalo chicken tenders with fries. Everyone here is friendly and the food is great bar food. I'll definitely be back for more
Really great Happy Hour, everything was delicious: quesadilla, garlic bread, and tacos. All great with friendly service.

The only reason for my 4 star rating is because of the drink selection. They only have beer and wine... the server was so delightful and so accommodating! The Asian nachos were beyond delicious!
Cute little local place. Seemed like a lot of people knew each other. Tight quarters. Hard to have a conversation. Waitress said it was her first night there. We couldn't tell. Knew the menu. Very knowledgeable. Ordered clam chowder, pot roast, and chicken pesto pasta. The clam chowder came with bacon on. We told the waitress later that you should probably tell people it comes that way. Some people don't put bacon on everything. In fact, we warned the couple that sat next to us that it came that way, and they ordered it without the bacon. Hubby raved about the pot, roast, mashed potatoes, and vegetables. He even told owner later that the vegetables were cooked perfectly. The chicken pasta could've used some more sauce and vegetables. Overall, it was a nice dinner and will come back. Probably on an off time so it hopefully won't be so noisy.
Great place to watch your favorite sports team! Lively environment - engaging locals. Friendly staff (thanks Keri) Delicious pizza, Mr. Wonderful enjoyed his burger, good selection of beer and wine.
Fun, local place. Good place to get the local vibe, enjoy a meal, and relax. Staff are attentive and friendly. Innovative menu combined with standard California fare. Good draft beer selection, bar and tables, and TVs and sports. Limited outdoor seating. Good for a casual date, solo date, and everyday meal. Check them out.
First visit, recommended by a local Seal Beach business, glad we went here. I had the meatloaf sandwich, on the “special” menu. Nice thick slice of meatloaf, served hot, chewy Parmesan coated grilled sourdough bread, mildly spicy sauce. The fries are the skinny ones, just average. Very good, friendly service. Would give this place 4.5 stars, if I could. Clean restroom. Recommended.
The service was quick and our waitress checked in with us often. Fish tacos were good but tortillas were dry and tough. The pesto chicken pasta was tasty and my friend loved it.
Popped in for a quick app n drinks sesh. Some of the clientele is grumbly, but once you get past that them, it's a good place to chill with a couple IPA's and apps. We had the streak Asian nachos and bang bang shrimp. Both were tasty little apps and went well with the drink by DIPA's. We will be backe to try some more of the menu. Definitely give this place a try.
Lunch in Seal Beach Came here for lunch with the family. Sat outside in front off the restaurant. The Abbey can accomadate 25 outside with About 30 inside including the bar area. I only saw 2 servers who were super busy. They worked well together.... The owner you should thank his or hers lucky stars having employees of this caliber. Everyone knows many do not want to work.... The food was great and worth coming back again. I had the Philly steak.. My wife had open face hamburger. My sister-in-law had the house salad. All were happy with our selection. Everyone should come by and pay their respects to our servers. They were hustlers working their tails off to satisfy their customers on a Sunday!!
Very good burger. We were sharing and the kitchen split it for us with no extra charge. Server was exceptional. Lots of beer choices.

This is a perfect place on Main St. A very busy/popular place. I loved the potato soup and the wedge was awesome. The lettuce wraps were lacking. I also have tried the tomato basil soup.
The Abbey is usually an excellent experience. Although a bit disappointing this visit. Ordered a supreme me pizza. Not very good. Blah. Boring. Little flavor or character. And skimpy toppings. Like they were rationing. Nonetheless what saved the experience was the pale ale & the consistent excellent service. Avoid the pizza. Stick with other menu items. You'll be fine.
Went here with the family, not a long wait but when we were seated waitress was cold and quick to address the table next to us she was not friendly and not welcoming at all. The other waitress with the blonde hair who was waiting another table was more attentive which was nice. However she just made our whole experience uncomfortable so we won't go back or recommend it unfortunately. Server was shown as AM F on receipt but she was a older lady with tattoos.
The atmosphere was nice the food was good but a little over priced based on my portions, I ordered the Beach Sliders, they were tiny and needed some seasoning. Overall they were okay but not mind blowing. I was starving and 2 won't cut it if you're looking for a serious meal. My fiancée got the Buffalo Ranch Crispy Chicken Salad. It was okay not my cup of tea but if you like salads then this one is for you. Probably won't be coming back to dine at this restaurant based on this first time visit.

the best larts about this place are the location and the atmosphere. They also have a decent selection of beers- if that's your thing. The neighborhood is quaint and a shirt distance to the pier lined with shops perfect for unique gift buying as well as touristy trinkets. The food was ok. Nothing imoressive. We had tuna melt, a burger, side of fries and the vegetarian bowl with the portabello mushroom. i asked for no squash (it makes me gag). They gave me squash. lots of squash. The server didn't care, didn't make it right. Overall, a cute, hip place for a couple of draaanks and bar food. Don't go there if you're a foodie expecting to be wowed or cared about.
