To us, Classic California old school restaurant..just a great, fun place for food and drinks, we felt alittle bit like we were stepping back in time to when you went to a restaurant that made your evening, we appreciate that.. Busy, bustling at dinner hours, parking can be alittle tight finding a spot..but looking forward to going again on our next visit!!!

We love the atmosphere of this place. I want to give 4 stars for the food, but Mexican food in LA can be so amazing. What's nice is that lots of the dishes are more baked than they are fried, so it doesn't feel as unhealthy as some Mexican diners can. But the staff are outstanding, the margaritas terrific, and the art and cool lighting and history make this a place we love.

Saw this restaurant on TV and just had to go there. Service was great and the food so fresh and delicious. We arrived just as the finished decorating for Christmas. I recommend the lobster Enchiladas with a peach margarita.

Casa Vega had excellent food, and nice service. Definitely deserves a better rating, as the food was really excellent. We will definitely come back when in NOHO.

L

Amazing service wait time, even though we did not have a reservation was short. The atmosphere was beautifully darker for Christmas. The absolute best enchiladas Mole I’ve ever had and the drinks in the bar. I had a Paloma that was out out of this world, but the best was the weight staff. She was so attentive and so kind and so excited that I ordered the enchiladas mole!!

My wife ate here often when she was younger. I became interested after reading the article about it in the New York Times. It didn’t disappoint.

Amazing resturant, and the food is incredible, as is the service. Best quesadilla ive had in my life.

Dark and authentic, this is exactly the place I wanted it to be, and so much more. Staff that seems to have been working there for decades, decor and setting that is so old it is new again, and food that is genuinely delicious and served on fire-hot plates. They recently revamped their menu and have many interesting and delectable cocktails. This is a great spot for a date or special occasion.

Casa Vega is a great go-to restaurant for friends, dates, families, and more. Their food is amazing! They have great chips & salsa and also offer flour tortilla chips that some people love. Amazing tacos (as seen in photo)! Anything you order here will taste delicious. The service is great with friendly servers. Plus, don’t forget they offer a great happy hour for both food and drinks! I believe it’s M-F from 3-6. 10/10 - keep it up Casa Vega!

Really nice Mexican food! Chips and dip to start, nice margaritas and the food quality was great, and the portions were huge! The atmosphere is loud but it’s comfortable!

Sat at the bar with my friend. The bartender was so cool. He had great suggestions. We just had appetizers & drinks. I will definitely come back for the dining experience soon.

My first visit last night,, it was amazing,, the service was so attentive to all our needs, friendly and so polite. There was 5 of us, We all ordered 4dishes each, and they explained it may be longer to ensure it would come out together and hot. It didn’t take long at all,, (waited longer at other establishments for meal for 2) Every dish, was hot and so tasty. We can highly recommend this little beauty. Having an adult with disabilities and my mother with sight impairment. Our young man (waiter) engaged with them both so well and the layout was spacious allowing for sensory needs and movement to be met.

We passed by this spot and wanted to stop by to get a margarita. My husband ordered a carnitas burrito and chicken taco. Great taste and great service.

I started with the Tarantino Margarita—and I was hooked from the first sip! It’s officially my go-to margarita for all future visits (and there will be many!). I recently moved to the area, and this spot has quickly climbed to the top of my “must return” list. My husband ordered the cucumber mint margarita and loved it. We kicked things off with chips and salsa, which totally met my standards—perfectly salted chips and just the right kick in the salsa. Now, here’s the only problem: I devoured so many chips that I couldn’t finish my house burrito! It was delicious, but next time I think I’ll try the fajitas. I kept sneaking bites of my husband’s fajita vegetables, and the flavor was phenomenal—definitely didn’t help my burrito situation. LOL. All in all, I’d absolutely recommend Casa Vega. Some reviews mention it’s pricey, but I don’t think it’s any more expensive than other quality restaurants in the area. The food and drinks were excellent, the service was friendly and efficient, and even the valet was great. You get what you pay for—and here, it’s worth it.

Casa Vega is classic L.A.! If you have seen "Once Upon A Time In Hollywood", you know it's got that classic Hollywood vibe. I went on a special day and got amazing BBQ tacos, but you can go any day and get amazing tacos and classic Mexican deliciousness!

This is one of the best Mexican Restaurants in the LA/surrounding area. I know there are plenty of food truck and small restaurants that are equally as amazing but the history, ambiance, and service are worth a short trip over the hill. Inside is dark and brooding, like every old noir film you've seen- the minute you step into the dining room or bar you feel whisked back into another time/space or Hollywood movie scene. The food is always a hit, never a miss. As someone who can rate a place simply by their chips and salsa, I was immediately excited to order my main course as I knew it'd meet my expectations (or more!). You can't go wrong with the food here but my favorite are the old school enchiladas with rice and beans. As someone growing up with authentic Mexican food, rice and beans are also nit-picky items for me and they both pass with flying colors. The Taquitos are equally awesome. If you have a pet, they allow them on the back patio but I believe it's only during certain hours. When we happened to get there last time and had our small dog, the patio was still about 20 min from opening yet they escorted us back and let us wait with chips, salsa and a beverage. Super kind and cool.

They accommodated my vegetarian diet! I got a 3 course with soy beef substitute... so delicious, I ate everything! The drinks were delicious! Highly recommend the Cadillac Margaritas, Jalisco Old Fashion, and Ginger Lemon Paloma. Black bean flautas were great to share as an appetizer for two people... so crispy and tasty! Highly recommended!

K

Every time I eat here I am left completely satisfied! So far everything on the menu is great. I usually have the enchiladas or the taquitos plate. Their Jaimaca is very very good. Chips and salsa are included. Also try the guacamole. They added a patio after COVID which is a nice change from the dark inside. We enjoy eating both inside and out!

Casa Vega is a Mexican restaurant that has been operating in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles for over 65 years. Casa Vega is located on Ventura Boulevard and is one of the longest continuously family-owned restaurants in all of greater Los Angeles. Casa Vega’s roots go back to famous Olvera Street in downtown Los Angeles. Rafael “Ray” Vega opened Casa Vega in 1956 after being inspired by the success of his parents’ earlier restaurant, Café Caliente, which operated on Olvera Street throughout the 1930s. Casa Vega serves authentic, delicious food and drinks in a warm and festive atmosphere.

From the moment the valet opens your door, you're greeted with such warmth and hospitality that you feel like you're their honor guest. The outdoor patio area is perfectly concealed and covered in beautiful chic white paint that harmoniously blends well with a bar covered with beautiful Mexican decor. Creating the perfect scenery for amazing Mexican cuisine. The atmosphere, as a whole is reason enough to stop by.

I used to come here all the time, but it has been so long. Casa Vega did not disappoint. INCREDIBLE toasted Coconut Margherita. The tostada was as well. Yum! Loved they had a soy beef substitute. Service was awesome. Can't wait to go back.

The Mexican food here is always fabulous. It's really hard to decide what to pick from their extensive menu. During COVIID they are working hard to see that their customers and staff are safe. They've set up a huge tent in the parking lot and have socially distanced tables, so you have a real feeling of comfort. Bravo to the owners and staff, they're doing a great job

We used to go to Casa Vega frequently years ago, and it had kind of gone downhill. I’m pleased to say that tonight’s visit was exceptional! We had the Baja shrimp tacos, a chicken quesadilla, and a Tarantino Margarita, and everything was AMAZING. They’ve got new cute dishes and glasses, and the place was decorated so cute. We will be back soon; don’t hesitate to go!

I had an amazing dining experience at Casa Vega in Los Angeles! The atmosphere is classic and cozy, and it was so cool to sit in the same booth that was featured in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Our server, Dillon, was great — attentive, friendly, and made great recommendations that made the meal even better. The food was fresh and came out quickly. Highly recommend Casa Vega for anyone looking for a true LA dining experience with great food, excellent service, and Hollywood history!

I really had a good time with my friend and the staff was very helpful. The food was really good and the margaritas were very good. I noticed that they served the margaritas on their original Margarita glass, which a lot of establishments do not do that anymore. To me presentation is very important as well as the quality of the drink or food. You must try it. Enjoy!

Amazing gem of the valley and a quick sneak down from the Hollywood Hills. Casa Vega not only has great drinks and food, but excellent staff and atmosphere. Great spot for a bite alone at the bar. Got a good tequila recommendation from the bar staff also. Will return. 10/10

I absolutely love Casa Vega! It's the second time I've eaten here in the 2 weeks I've been in LA! This is just a beautiful place where when you enter, not only do you step back in time, but your in a little world of your own. It's very busy, so I recommend making reservations! The nostalgic art work, wrought iron medallions hanging and the beautiful lights make it a fabulous little world to hide away in and eat delicious food!! The staff is always lovely and the food is fabulous! I see why this place has been popular for so many years! The landscaping around the restaurant is gorgeous! Huge cactus, olive trees and succulents surround and frame the Spanish architecture.

This is a charming restaurant with great service and a welcoming atmosphere. My friend and I went for an early supper so it was not super crowded. We sat outside and it was just such a fun, relaxing, pretty vibe. Waitress was so gracious and friendly. Very good food too!

This restaurant and bar is 70yrs old, started by a man and wife team, now handed down to the children. A legacy restaurant. It has been well maintained, and has a fun vibe. There was an hour wait for a table so we ate at the bar. I ordered a la carte lime rice and Chile relleno, mocha hete. So good! And of course classic margaritas !

Incredible, authentic Mexican in LA. Simply the best! A cozy, family run establishment that I’d been dying to visit for years and it certainly lived up to the hype. From the delicious margaritas to the cheese enchiladas, the entire experience was amazing. Can’t wait to come back!

Best authentic food I’ve tasted in awhile! The restaurant’s interior is beautiful to say the least, and the food is just as delectable. I choose to have a burrito, but as I was eating my food I watched a table nearby order house made guacamole. The wait or mixed it up right in front of them and it was amazing to watch! I loved this whole experience, the only thing is that the entrance can be a bit hard to find 😂

CASA VEGA, ES UNA CASA DE ESPERANZA PARA MI! Circa 2009 to 2012, I lived a couple of blocks away from Casa Vega and I was a regular. I'm back in the Valley and the first place I went to, on my first day back, was to Casa Vega! Food and atmosphere are still great! Service still fantastic! Tonight I forced myself to eat (I've had a loss of appetite, since The Villain announced he wanted a divorce) . I ordered the Chopped Taco Salad. It was just what needed! I ate every bit! Unlimited homemade chips and salsa, are still on menu and such a treat! They have a new brunch menu, which means, I'll be back for brunch very soon!

No wonder the Kardashians frequent this joint, redesigned by notorious loudmouth former Bravolebrity back-stabber trout lipped Jeff Lewis, CV reigns supreme w classic barrio Mexican style food enhanced a-la chicken bouillon. Portions are great, drinks are strong, mood is get-down-to-eat vibes. The decor is giving me cute date night. We started off w their chips n salsa where we dipped into the salsa like kids doing their first cannonball into their pools. I had the fajitas and Greg had the Chilli verde burrito. I accompanied my dish w grilled jalapeños and it sealed the deal. Nothing makes Mexican food taste better than chargrilled jalapeños w each bite. Enter food coma. Thank god for the margaritas to snap us out. This place warrants many many visits.

The food is excellent! We always have great service. The margs are wonderful. It is a little cramped when it gets busy, but it's worth it. I love coming during Christmas time and it's all festive inside. Valet parking

Great drinks and vibe. Amazing service, great margaritas, and the food is awesome. I went with the family and we had the shrimp burriito, elóte, and lots of other items. The Mr. Vega margarita is my favorite margarita. Just a great spot. It’s a true classic and worth checking out.

Celebrated my 36th birthday here, and I had such a wonderful time along with the fambam. I truly appreciated that they had veggie options because I'm the only vegetarian in my family. I had the cheese green enchiladas, and the food was authentic and delicious. Their alcoholic drinks are also delicious, I had the From Dusk Till Dawn. The decor inside and outside emphasizes celebration, it was the perfect place to celebrate one more year on earth. This is a must if you visit LA.

A restaurant with a long history and amazingly good food and drinks. Tables can be pretty tight in there but service was quick, and staff was very friendly and knew the menu pretty well (at least Jordan did). I'm already looking forward to dining there again.

Food: they serve great Mexican cuisine here, and I recommend trying the combination, burrito, or especiales plates. They have red booths and the restaurant is dimly lit, providing an intimate venue. Parking: the restaurant has a private parking lot behind the building. The entrance is accessible from both Ventura Blvd. and a small side street on Fulton Ave. Tips: they have a brunch menu, and happy hour is from Monday through Friday from 2:30 to 6 p.m. They serve micheladas and margaritas and provide complimentary thin tortilla chips and salsa. Outdoor seating is also available. They are cashless.

Already my favorite Mexican food place in the Valley, and maybe all of LA. Just moved in nearby and this place is a great benefit to the neighborhood. From the friendly service, the amazing drinks, the solid Mexican food!! This place has it all, wrapped up in a time warp back to the 50’s. I wish there were more vegetarian and vegan options. Tofu in a fajita skillet would be amazing - wink wink smootchy face.

Originally opened in 1956 Casa Vega is certainly one of the more famous Mexican restaurants in the valley, and I would say one of the better ones. It has a lot of connections to movies and shows so a lot of people know about it even before stopping in. It is a bit pricey compared to other Mexican restaurants, but not by that much. They don’t have self parking, it is valet only but there are plenty of street metered spaces available surrounding the restaurant. We were able to find one right out front for a 7PM Saturday dinner. Our server was extremely polite, was very fast with a drink refills, and overall he did a great job. They have a very large menu with pretty much all of the classics on it. I started off with the Chile Con Queso Soup, and it was honestly really good and very cheesy. Next we shared the Chicharrónes and we both especially liked the verde sauce that came with it. We also ordered the table side Guacamole and as expected it was really good and went fast. For my entrée I chose the Carne Chile Colorado and really enjoyed it. It’s been one of my favorite Mexican dishes since childhood so I have had it tons of times. I switched to flour tortillas which I feel is a better combo with the steak. It had great flavors so I would order it again next time and would recommend it. Overall a solid and famous Mexican restaurant with great ambience in the valley. I don’t go to the valley often, but would certainly stop in again next time I am up that way, and would recommend to anyone who is close by as well.

CV has been a staple for a long time. Great food, great drinks, great vibe all around. The food is usually really delicious but recently hasn't been as good as it should be (especially for the price). Overall, I love coming here and hope they keep everything high quality like it's always been!

This is hands down THE BEST authentic MEXICAN food. The fresh salsa was amazing with a hint of spice. We drove over an hour to get there. The atmosphere is dim but pleasing to the eye. Our waiter wasn't the most friendly and follow through guy, but the food made up for that. I’m a vegetarian and I ordered the Enchiladas Ranchero and my boyfriend ordered the Carne Asada. Oh and the Cadillac margarita was top notch for sure! I cannot wait to go back! AMAZING!!! This place should have 5 stars for sure!!!!

Iconic spot in LA did not disappoint. We really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. The service was lacking, but its so hard to find places that take great care of their patrons. Were only asked if we needed more drinks once and never did receive our water refill that we asked for. After asking for boxes and the bill 3 times, we finally received them. Fun location and venue, amazing food. We would return.

This place is historic and is also absolutely one of my favorite places to visit a close friend of mine and I decided to stop here and we had to have the quesadillas. He got his mistake and cheese, but I had to add jalapeños to mine and I didn’t regret it. The service was incredibly friendly and always very classy. You’re always greeted promptly when you walk in and of course, if you have an extra $10 the valet parking makes it worth it. I had a wonderful lunch here. I’m gonna come back and try some more stuff but I am absolutely going to make sure this place knows I am super thankful for the great service an amazing food!

This San Fernando Valley landmark is legendary, serving up the valley’s best Mexican food and beverages since 1956. I’ve eaten here for 35 years, always left happy. The Carne Chile Colorado is my all time favorite, but everything is good. The atmosphere is classic Hollywood watering hole, the margaritas are exceptional. I highly recommend. Happy Trails!

What a fantastic lunch. Antonio was our amazing server and Fernando, Crystal and Abraham provided service as well. They were great people, professional, caring, knowledgeable and friendly. We started with drinks. My wife had a frozen margarita and I had a Cadillac margarita. Antonio mixes a great margarita. We also had the guacamole which Crystal made at tableside. For lunch my wide had the three taco plate and I had the Carne asada platter. Abraham brought out the food and it was prepared and presented quite nicely. I also had a glass of Mandala De Dios Los Muertos on a large rock. Antonio is a terrific bartender and has a fantastic demeanor. The ambiance is positive and authentic. Highly recommended.

Literally one of the best traditional Mexican restaurants I have ever been to. I’ve never had one bad dish there. Love the drinks too! Every time I come to LA I come here. I bought one of their hoodies too cause I like it so much. Everything is homemade!

I’ve been here twice, both times had a great experience. The food is delicious and always hot and fresh. I personally haven’t always been the biggest fan of Mexican restaurants that are on the “fancier” side because I feel they sometimes lack the authentic street-food taste that my favorite Mexican dishes usually have. This place is an exception. The flavor is good and both times we were provided great service. The churros are to die for, and the nachos were delicious. The strawberry frozen margarita (we had one once with the gummy worms) is also a highlight and a must have for a drink. Definitely will come again for a great atmosphere and delicious food.

I have been here a bunch of times, it’s right down the street from me. I always order the lobster enchilada and table side guac. Food does take a while to come out. Normally I am so high and drunk from so many margaritas that it doesn’t matter. It’s not the best Mexican in town, Mexicali is better but this is where Leo and Brad went…. So I go here now.

I’d give it 5 stars except I think it’s overpriced. Great food, great margaritas... but overpriced by several dollars. It’s been here forever and they do things right, but it’s Mexican food and doesn’t warrant the exorbitant prices.

One of the best, tasty and juicy burritos I've tried. The portion is huge even the margaritas are enormous. The service was excellent and fast.. definitely value for money. You have to try PS: "Once upon a time in Hollywood...."

Went there for the first time for my birthday lunch on a Sunday right when they opened at 11:30AM. Sat in the booth next to the one Brad Pitt and Leo DiCaprio sat for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood as that actual booth would have been pretty tight for the 6 of us. Of course had to try the Tarantino Margarita, and it was very good. Ordered tableside guac. Not only is it fun to see it made in front of you, this was the best bites of the meal. I got the chicken mole, which was ok. The rest of my family were pleased with their food, but I can't remember nor did I take pics of what they got 😅. The room with the booths was very dark, but I enjoyed the ambiance. We were pretty stuffed, so didn't have much room for dessert, but the restaurant was nice enough to give a small flan for my birthday. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience and would love to go back with other guests and family.

T
Thaís Stella O Delgadinho

Food was amazing, the ceviche on coconut is fantastic, but dessert was definitely not what I was expecting, the tres leches cake I thought was going to be moist and soft, it was almost hard to cut with a spoon so it was not soft at all… the presentation is terrible is a piece of cake badly cut and just poured on the plate like a cake made at home, and for the price I thought was going to be a big piece but it isn’t.

M

Went on a Saturday night. I asked the waiter about the steak burrito vs the carne asada burrito and apparently they had run out of steak. Then we were told they had run out of black beans and it's barely 8:00. How a restaurant that's been in business since 1956 runs out of steak and refried beans is simply way beyond me! No words. The food and drinks that we had were delicious and the vibe in the restaurant is really chill. I'd still go back.

My wife and I came here for lunch today. I made reservations off OpenTable just if they were busy. I parked on the street since it's free parking for 2 hrs on a Sunday. I called ahead to check about the parking, they said the parking behind the restrauant is valet only at all times. The entrance is on the side of the building. When I walked inside, the place is kind of dark but not so bad. We got seated right away but it took the waiter a while to come to our table. He was the only one working the area we were seated so I understand. My wife and I started off with a coke to drink. We then put in our orders, I got the burrito and the waiter asked if I wanted chesse and salsa on top which I said sure why not. I didn't know until the check came that it was an extra fee, it would've been helpful if he told me that but I saw it was also on the menu on top. My wife got the Enchiladas Pollo Mole, our food came out quick. I thought my burrito was alright, they give a decent amount of Carne asada inside. My wife thought her Enchiladas was good but said the chicken wasn't the best. The chips were kind of dried and stale, we thought the salsa was good. The men's bathroom is also small with only 1 small and 1 urinal station with no privacy wall so be aware. We most likely wouldn't come back but it was a good experience trying this place.

Is Casa Vega touristy? Yes. But that’s probably the reason why you are there so you shouldn’t be shocked at it being busy, rushed service, expensive, etc. I thought the food (while overpriced) was great! They have all the classics and any of their combo plates make a great meal. We started off with the Tostada Chiquita, which is kinda like a taco salad on a tostada? It was worth going back for by itself. The restaurants decor is classic and really makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. Service was good, but a bit rushed. We never had to worry about drink refills or plates being removed. I would come back in a heartbeat!

Casa Vega nails the nostalgic California-Mexican atmosphere—it’s dark, moody, and wrapped in that old-school charm that makes you feel like you’re stepping into a Quentin Tarantino frame (which, let’s be honest, you probably are). It’s got just enough kitsch to feel authentic-ish without crossing into parody, and that’s exactly what I come for. The margaritas? Excellent. Strong, balanced, and flowing. The service? Also excellent—friendly, efficient, and on top of the chaos, even when the place is buzzing. It’s a fun, high-energy spot that’s perfect for a night out with friends when you want some throwback LA ambiance and a good buzz. Where Casa Vega stumbles is the food. It’s not bad, it’s just… underwhelming. You’re paying a premium for the scene, not the salsa. The dishes are fine, but they don’t really outpace what you’d find at your neighborhood spot for half the price. So yes, go for the vibe, the drinks, and the memories. Just manage your food expectations and you’ll leave happy. Four stars.

My friend and I had a blast at Casa Vega. The atmosphere is lovely and upbeat. We got serenaded at our table by a live performer, which added to the experience. The food was good, not great. I ordered the Casa Vega bowl with steak, and my friend got the spinach enchiladas. There were plenty of gluten-free options, and the restaurant was safe with cross contamination. Be sure to make a reservation in advance. Overall, a fun night living out our Kardashian dreams!

This is a great Mexican restaurant with a great menu and a wide selection of cocktails and drinks. The food honestly tasted really good and had a well balanced profile with one exception. There was no spice in any of the food or salsas and it was the one thing that would have made the meal amazing. The ambiance was classy and romantic. It was quite loud in the restaurant from the conversations people were having. The staff was nice and service was fast.

Yes I came here just to be a tourist. I had already eaten just before getting here. I just wanted to sit at the table from the movie once upon a time in Hollywood. Probably not the most professional thing to do but I'm quite sure it happens here a lot and I'm also pretty sure they've benefited from this being a set location for the movie. Server was friendly... when she was there.

👎$20 for a single Casamigos and soda? 👎 They don't serve Horchata? 😳 Totally unimpressive, I was excited to visit based upon all the glowing reviews. Complete let down. ➖ Completely over hyped place. Below average Mexican food. Quality of food reminded me of Casa Bonita in Denver, Colorado. Yuck. Would not be competitive back home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Bottom 10 for sure

J

Been coming here for about 15 years now. It used to be our favorite Mexican place, but it feels like the last 4 years something has changed. Unfortunately the portions have gotten smaller and of course the prices have gone up. We are a family of four and we don’t drink alcohol. Our last trip there ran me about $130 for four entrées, no desserts and no alcohol. Pretty wild. The quality is also not what it used to be. Honestly, we just consider this place to be average now. Although the atmosphere is great, and most of the staff is pretty good. We live about 45 minutes away though and while it used to be a no-brainer for us to head down to have Mexican food here, it is now one of those things that we don’t even feel like the drive is worth it anymore.

The notoriety of the restaurant attracted me to visit. The restaurant is famous and has been featured in several films, most recently Quinten Tarantino's "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood." The restaurant was busy and they were able to accommodate us without a reservation. Although, the person at the front did tell us "reservations are customary." The atmosphere is dark, and ominous. The bar is lit with cute white lights. Kinda fun. However, the service was poor. No table settings, we had to ask. It took forever to place a drink order. The tortilla chips seemed store bought along with the salsa. The meal was just ok. Nothing special. Carne Asada was very chewy. Beans were watery. Three stars for the atmosphere and it's famous!

We were are group of five. In different plates, the chicken needed to be cleaned from fat. My quesadilla upset my stomach and way too much dust in a very dark room. The server was great. The lunch expensive for what we had. Thank you but never again

I’ve wanted to visit Casa Vega for a long time since it’s considered a legendary spot. Unfortunately, after tonight’s dinner, it feels more like a one-and-done experience for me. Parking is valet only, unless you’re lucky enough to find street parking on busy Ventura. When we arrived, no one greeted us while we waited, and when the hostess finally came over, there was no welcome — just a question about party size and whether we had a reservation. It’s a small thing, but when you’re used to basic courtesy, you notice it. The ambience is cool — classic, dimly lit, with that old-school vibe. Food was mixed. The albondigas soup tasted a bit salty — maybe it had reduced too much by the end of the day, or maybe it was just my preference. The fajitas, on the other hand, were surprisingly bland. A positive note: they weren’t overcooked like they often are elsewhere. The cuts were large, not too much onion (which some may like), but also not much chicken either. The guacamole had a slight sour aftertaste — not overpowering, but noticeable enough to feel like it wasn’t freshly made. Our server was excellent though — attentive and pro. Great service from him. One more thing: the menu print is quite small, which makes it hard to read in the dim lighting. Also, the payment terminal comes with a tip percentage pre-selected, which feels a bit pushy. Overall, I’m glad I finally tried it, but I’m not sure I’d come back specifically for lunch or dinner. I can only assume Casa Vega continues to thrive largely because of nostalgia.

I feel CV's reputation and history isn't being held to that degree as of recently. The atmosphere was charming with cozy vibes and plenty of christmas decorations. Otherwise, since we walked in, we were hardly acknowledged by the wait staff / lack of hostess. The guy talking to us was very apprehensive about seating more people because there was no table available but it was an hour till close. It seemed he didn't want us there. The server we got was meh... he asked the basic questions of what we wanted. Food was fine but I'd say about $8 overpriced. At one point we asked for more chips and the guy said, "uh... let me check if we have chips..." as if a Mexican restaurant that serves chips too every take should ever be out. It was more eagerness to leave his job and shut the place down. Anyways, don't care to go back. The food is nothing grand or unique.

The place wasn't well set up and the dim lighting made the menu hard to read. Two different tables sitting by us had to use their phone flashlights to see it, which in turn led to bright lights being in our faces while we were trying to look as well, which didn’t make things easier. If you're going to have a nighttime ambiance, there should least be better lighting. The food and drinks were good, but I can’t say the same about the service. The waiter wasn’t the most personable. So if you are thinking about going, keep that in mind.

The host asked if we had a reservation, and he told us 20 minutes. Took 5. Told the next lady in line, and an hour... place is DARK! It's hard to see. I think it was red leather booths. Waiters were in tuxedos, minus the jacket. We got a basket of chips. They did not refill it. Iced tea had passion fruit and tasted like perfume. My daughter got a carnatas burrito, large, and tasty. I got chicken Fajitas, pictured. There is not enough chicken to make 3 tacos. Also very bland. Needed salt and seasoning. The waiter got busy & it took a while to pay the check. Interesting experience overall.

It was awful. The worst, most bland guacamole I ever had. Service was awful.. people who came in afterwards were served their food promptly. We were there for an hour and a half.. boyfriends food was awful as well. Very bland. Manager came out to apologize, stating that they had a catering order pop up.. that's why we had to wait so long.. so our $120 check was only $60. But they got the check wrong. Cucumber margarita was good.

Had came here before and was blown away by the service and drinks. Our server Jesus the last time around was nothing short of amazing , attentive and kept checking on our table for drinks and anything else we might have needed. This time around we came expecting the same high quality service and attention but oh boy were we wrong . Our new waiter sat us down and didn’t bother to look our way for quite a while after getting our first drinks . We sat back and watched the tables next to us get stellar service and attentiveness while ours was barely even on the radar. I had ordered a burrito not knowing it was a “wet” one and wasn’t informed. All while the gentleman next to me ordered the same thing minutes later and was fully informed it was a “wet” burrito. Not a huge fan of wet burritos btw. We finished our drinks not to long into our meal and was never even offered another one. Now I don’t mind tipping well for excellent service, but honestly did not want to leave much this time around. Don’t know if we were biased due to our ethnicity or our age but if you want a good tip I feel you should actually work for it and make the experience wonderful unlike the one we had. Not coming back again.

What happened to Casa Vega?! Used to be a great place come hang or get take out. Now you can’t even speak to a live person when you call to place a takeout order. We tried ordering take out from some automated system lady that did not take down our order correctly, so then we went into Casa Vegas to order and the staff was unpleasant. For $113 order I would expect there to be more accurate order taking and a somewhat decent experience.

We visited this restaurant this last Saturday afternoon and sat at the bar. We had TERRIBLE service from the bartender! Then, after giving him a $20 cash tip, he DECIDED TO ADD ANOTHER $10 TIP TO OUR BILL AFTER WE LEFT FOR A TIP!!!! Dishonest, food was so-so and the service was awful!!

We ordered steak fajitas, and the meat was tough and rancid tasting. It looked like the steak was boiled. They replaced it with chicken, but it was not authentic as it used to be and not worth the price. The service was good. Should have gone to Ernie's or Tequilas where the food, drink, and atmosphere is consistent after all these years.

We used to go Casa Vega in 60s and 70s. Came back and was VERY DISAPPOINTED!!! The food and service were absolutely terrible. Whoever owns and runs the restaurant now clearly does not care about the food quality. Won’t be back ever again….shame on the new owners for destroying a true landmark of Los Angeles.

I recently dined at Casa Vega and had an uncomfortable experience for the first time in 25 years. When I arrived, Carlos, the bartender asked me to provide my credit card before being seated at the bar. What struck me was that none of the other guests around me were asked to do the same. I understand that some restaurants hold cards in advance for certain reasons, but it was never explained to me, and the inconsistent application of this policy made me feel singled out and unwelcome. I came expecting good food and hospitality, but instead left feeling disrespected. If this is indeed a restaurant policy, it should be applied consistently and transparently to all guests. If it was a staff decision, I hope management addresses it to ensure all patrons are treated fairly and equally.

Our server forgot about us twice and probably left. After we got the appetizers and 20 some minutes later I had to get his attention to order food. We had finished the appetizers completely and pushed the plates away too. After we were done eating the main meals there was about half hour later at least I was wondering when they’re going to come with the check. We just sat there waiting until I got another server’s attention and he helped us pay the bill, starting with 18% tip in the machine too. I waited another few minutes after paying and never heard back from our server or a thank you or apology or anything. The sad part is we were there with a reservation made for a very special occasion and made me feel very upset and frustrated. Last time I came it was a completely different experience.

Stopped by after a late comedy show. No wait to be seated. We ordered carne asada nachos requested add on extra meat with additional charge, ordered Jamaica agua fresca and pineapple jalapeno margarita. However after taking our order our waiter never returned to our table and we never received our drinks ordered. Service was poor and our nachos with extra meat fell short. Authentic Mexican cuisine is not what I would rate this restaurant. Canned enchilada sauce was used for our nachos and food was a disappointment. I do not recommend Casa Vega for authentic Mexican food.

This used to be such a wonderful restaurant. I have been coming here for 35 years. But now the food is terrible. They had such great consistency with their food and service for so many years and in the last five years we have stopped coming on a regular basis. We show up once in a while, hoping things went back to normal, but they have not. It has just gotten worse. The refried beans are no longer creamy and hot with melted cheese over them. They are cold with a little bit of cheese sprinkled over them. I'm sure they were from a can. The chili Colorado is no longer delicious. It's so sad and disappointing. Especially when you go out to dinner and spend over $100.00.

I am so disappointed. I have been going to Casa Vega for 40 years. I literally grew up there. I'd say the last 10 times or so that l've been there, it hasn't been very good, but I keep giving it another chance. This time, I'm done. I will never eat there again. The prices have gone sky high, and the food has gotten worse. They changed the enchilada sauce and the chicken is just a pile of mush, and the top was burned. The rice is always cold. The margaritas now come in a small glass with an added decanter of warm mix. The ice always melts and the drink gets warm. The staff acts like they are doing you a favor to seat and serve you, and you can never get anyone's attention. They rush you in and out - they actually gave us a time limit for our meal! It was my go-to, full of memories. This time was the last straw. They have lost my business, which I'm sure they don't care about one bit.

The ambiance was cute with Christmas decorations but the service left much to desire . We sat and watched our drinks sitting on the counter for at least 10 min, we didn't get them until about 20-25 min after we sat and watched our server hug and fraternize with other people while we waited. The drinks and food did not make up for the lack of adequate and attentive service. For the price point it definitely didn't feel on par with quality of service and good. The burritos are tiny and we left still hungry but didn't want to bother on a rainy Monday with 3 empty tables around us

Casa vega Save your time and money! For having such of a noticeable image in LA and understanding and having tasted solid authentic Mexican food all over LA, this place does fall short with saying that the authenticity has been sacrificed for just for the dollar. But after saying all of this, The drinks were an absolute dream. I haven't tasted a proper well long Island in a while and this place killed it.
