Opinions de Mary's Pizza Shack Sonoma
Bar tender/Server was great! She really took care of us and gave us our space at the same time. She made a great Old Fashioned, helped us out with our wine choice. Always happy with Mary’s pizza.
First time! We will be back during our stay in Sonoma. Erin are server was great! 10/10 recommend This restaurant has great customer service from the servers to management to ownership. Me and my wife received better service at this pizza shop than we do at “fine dining” back at Ohio. They also gave us an ice cream come randomly at the end, which solidified me going through the extra steps of two factor authentication to leave this review. 👏👏 Great job Mary Pizza Schack!
We had a short trip to Sanoma and just wandered in here for lunch. Wonderful service, super welcoming and friendly, especially the manager. My wife even got given a small bowl of soup to try as a side. This was our last meal in the States and probably the best! Thanks guys
What an absolute treat it is. Great food great drinks
There's very little options for vegans in Sonoma. We stumbled upon Mary's Pizza Shack, they had vegan cheese and vegan options. This is lovely to see. The pizza was so good that weekend forgot to take a picture until the end. Rhw service is great. This place has been around since 1959. Come enjoy the chill atmosphere!
I ate on the porch by the warmth of the open fireplace. The Grain Salad is a new menu choice. It came as I ordered, with no cranberries. It consisted of a large bowl of greens with a generous scoop of grain, chopped nut, and chickpea mixture in the center, small chunks of feta cheese, and a delicious, lemony dressing. The crunchy grain mixture was flavorful and added a great texture. It was the best salad I’ve ever had!
We love being able to sit in the inside/outside area by the fireplace. I love their salads, my husband loves the spaghetti and giant meatball and my daughter and granddaughter love their pizza. The servers have always been nice and last week one of them was so kind to bring a dish of water to our dog who was in the corner under the table. Very considerate! Grateful to be able to have dinner out...!
Had a bomb meatball sub but be warned there is so much meat that it's more like two open faced sandwiches. It was delicious and amazing! The minestrone soup was amazing! Never had minestrone quite like it and it was great. Service was also on point. This place was all around awesome!
Whenever I am at Sonoma Square, and I am hungry, I choose Mary’s Pizza Shack. Exceptional value, great food, and great service. Mary’s never disappoints!
I enjoyed eating dinner at this Mary’s Pizza shack with my family. The food was good, hot when it was served. The service was great, friendly employees, attended to every needs of my family. The facility was clean and set up for a comfortability of all patrons and provided for a comfortable atmosphere for dining.
Visiting Sonoma for the first time and found Mary's inviting. Not knowing the restaurant and getting great initial service about the menu, I asked our server Nineveh if this was a family owned business and if she was part of the family? She was not, although her attention was fantastic! The meatball sandwich was a fulfilling meal and small pizza was delicious. Reasonably priced and relaxing environment sitting outside near the fireplace. A true 5 star experience!
We stopped here because we didn’t want to spend an arm and a leg at other restaurants in the square. We got three meals each out of a lunch menu item! They come with a soup or salad as well so this is for sure the place to go to stretch your dollar. The food was just okay but satisfied my empty stomach. They have indoor and protected outdoor seating as well.
Great family dining and game night pub.
Excellent pizza and great service with outdoor seating right on the community square. We got the thin crust vegetable pizza and the house salad with housemade Italian dressing. The pizza tasted very fresh with a nice crisp in the crust. We shared the salad which worked well as a starter for us and we liked the house Italian dressing. Overall, a nice casual meal on the square for as reasonable a price as you're likely to find in town. We would definitely return.
Mrs. Marie accommodated us like none other. After already closing down my son was crying outside for food and water, Marie didn’t hesitate to walk to the back and call some shots for us. We left so grateful and so appreciative. On top of that the food penne was great! Happy 4th of July ! Thanks Marie.
The food was good. We ordered a large pizza, half Mary’s and half Hawaiian, for $35. While it wasn't the best pizza I've ever had, it was decent, though the crust was quite thick. The wait time for the pizza was reasonable, and the restaurant wasn’t crowded. We also ordered a full loaf of bread for $20, which was a lot of bread! We ended up taking most of it home. The French fries were $6 and came in a small portion, suitable for an individual. The restroom was clean. Parking was easy with a 3-hour limit on the street. There’s a playground in the front crossing the street.
A perfect slice of pizza & ancient grains salad. The pizza was cooked well, crispy & flavorful. The salad was packed with walnuts, cranberries, feta cheese & arugula. The inhouse Italian dressing was just right too . The bar staff where I sat was attentive & cordial. The sports channel was playing Stanford vs Syracuse football game. Nice vibes throughout. Parking in the area has a 3 hour limit but free.
This very unpretentious, kids friendly, informal place to get good meal while enjoying Sonoma plaza. My pizza was pretty decent and Prosecco was bubbly just right. Everything was simple and enjoyable. Great place to have fun with kids and feel like home.
Mary's Pizza Shack is a great place for awesome pizza and homemade pasta and ravioli! Their customer service is excellent and the atmosphere is very relaxed and Mary was such an amazing host who showed me how to put a pizza box together let me and my wife compete against one another to see who could make the most! Thanks for a great dinner experience Mary!
Great sandwich and the house salad is okay. The outside seating is very nice. My plate is empty because the turkey sandwich is in my tummy. Great service.
Absolutely amazing food here! Red sauce is one of the best out there & the meatballs are so delicious your tongue will slap your face!

Today after lunch I had to tell Francis & the amazing Mary's crew thanks for doing a wonderful job keeping the Mary's recipes consistent & delicious. We have been going here & many other Mary's locations in Sonoma County for at least 43 years. Few restaurants achieved & maintain such high standards! Well done everyone! 💜
We've driven by these before, but never stopped. In historic Sonoma, it was awesome. Great food and service. We'll go back soon.
I love to go down for happy hour and the people are super friendly and the food is amazing. You won’t go wrong on anything you order.
My 93 year old Mom wanted pizza for her birthday dinner. She requested Mary's, which anyone from Sonoma County knows it's great. I haven't been to the Sonoma Location. It's atmosphere is great. I recommend popping in for a drink & Pizza, although, they do have many other options. I've enjoyed the Chicken Parm, meatball sandwich... You will find something you like for sure. Enjoy!!
Went here pretty late on a weekend with 8 other people, our waitress was a younger lady who was so nice. I ordered the cheese ravioli with marinara sauce. After while when everyone else was getting their food brought out, she had came up to tell me that the kitchen had accidentally made my order with the creamy sauce. This was perfectly fine with me but she insisted she would also bring what I originally ordered in a to go box for me to take home with no extra charge.

I highly recommend the cannoli dessert. I really enjoy the dinner combo of chicken parmesan in homemade marinara sauce with delicious fettuccine alfredo along with a Mary's signature dinner salad with blue cheese dressing. The pesto bread sticks are a great starter too. Service is excellent just like the food.

This pizza place was excellent. I was initially hesitant because, with all the variety of “pizza” in the world today, a more basic “meat and cheese” pizza sounded boring. However, the quality of the dough, spices, and ratios of ingredients on each pie was great. Somehow the whole was more than the sum of the parts. The pitchers weren’t a great deal though, since it was priced at about 4 glasses but filled only 3.5-3.7. Overall great. Will return.
Marys has grown on me the 4 years we have lived in the area. Recently, I have taken such a liking to the Turkey bravo. The pizza is decent. It's not East Coast pizza but decent.
Toward the back of Sonoma Square, my wife and I discovered a Mary's Pizza Shack beckoning us to stop by and enjoy a delicious lunch that only they can provide at an affordable price with generous portions. Their signature salad and fresh baked bread have no equal. We opted for their classic spaghetti and giant meatball meal. A wonderful sumptuous experience in a great location, that we want to experience over and over again.
Our host sat us quickly which was greatly appreciated, but he looked like he was having a rough day. Our server was warm and friendly. We ordered a medium pizza and a spaghetti with giant meatball. The food was delicious and well worth the price! Will definitely return.
First time visiting an American Italian restaurant. I really enjoyed my chicken sandwich and Margherita pizza! Server was really nice. Loved the old skool decor and atmosphere.

A very cozy and a history rich old restaurant. Food was very very fresh and hot. Loved the ambience and they had a happy hour on drinks and half price in appetizers. A very friendly staff.

The Bad News: This place used to be our family go-to for a good meal. But over the years the menu has changed significantly, and the quality has declined. The service has been awful since the pandemic started. The Good News: I recently learned that Toto (a relative of Mary who has a pizza named after him) is the new owner, and he plans on returning some of the previous menu items. I pray that the quality and the old Mary's standards are restored. My Request: Please use more meat in your Giant Meatball and cook it thoroughly!
A staple in Sonoma. I’ve had the pizza a few times and always leave desiring a bit more. They could be a bit more generous with the toppings (prices for a two topping large are right around $27-30) and there just doesn’t seem to be much seasoning. Crust is actually ok. The pasta needs salt for sure but...they don’t care salt. A bit odd. Pro move is to grab a few pizzas Togo and sit in the square.
I hate to say, but we had a generally disappointing experience here. The service was great, which earned a couple points, along with my meat patty which was good, but the salad my wife ordered as a meal was ultra basic and probably cost $2.50 in ingredients. An iceberg lettuce salad with some canned mixed beans, a slice of tomato and a couple slices of salami, isn’t really impressive. It was a lot of food, you won’t walk away hungry, just not necessarily satisfied. I hear the pizza is better. Stick with that if you’re going to order here.

I ordered takeout and the pasta and salad arrived without a fork to eat the food. There was no place on the online form to request utensils. Heads up if you are in a hotel.
It's iiiight.... No foldable slices and the pep was definitely off the meat rack kid

Door dashed a medium half and half pizza. Came to 50 dollars. It came super small and super dry. Barely any sauce. Will be ordering from Mary’s on hwy 12 from now on or round table. Although round table medium sizes are a lot bigger and less priced.
Been going to Mary’s for many years. Last night the dinner was an absolute shock. Food and service very poor. Ordered a salad and hamburger and both came to the table at the same time. Hamburger was over cooked and dry. The waitress put the food on the table without any condiments and walked off. Empty appetizer dishes remained on the table throughout the meal. Water glasses remained empty the entire meal. Bathrooms are filthy and need to be serviced. Very disappointed in the whole evening.
Insulting and poor service. I understand the Covid 19 restriction and pressure and all - however, first the chef made a mistake with our pizza by adding chicken to the veg pizza. We accepted the mistake and waited for another one - after 50 minute wait, we got the pizza - this time the key ingredient- tomatoes were forgotten and then they added raw tomatoes on the top. I also asked the server to not box the pizza and bring it out in a plate - yet they ignored my request and boxed our pizza. On my further complaint and request for the chef to come out and apologize- nothing was done by the server just took the pizza off the bill. We left without the pizza with an absolute insulting and poor response experience.

Christmas Eve, 9 people,, reserved two tables on patio by the fire 3 weeks advanced. Went over the details on the phone to make sure we could get these table at 5:15. Showed up. Empty restaurant pretty much except our tables. We were on time. We are only eating here for the fire and tables. Kids, old people, Christmas. They had erased our reservation. We showed an email confirmation. It took about 15 minutes for the manager to show up and he was incredibly hostile. We showed our reservation and he was obnoxious. So, we can't find anywhere else to eat at that late date and it took them 30 minutes to give us a table on the patio away from the fire and views of the lights. The rudest experience in a restaurant. We ate the original Mary's when she was alive and it was a good restaurant. It just keeps going down hill. No apology, no free drink, no comped appetizers. Just hostility on Christmas Eve toward a multigenerational family with a reservation. The staff were obviously afraid of him too. Yuck to this place. Our waiter was very nice. They asked me to reach out to them after the review. I did. Never heard back.
