Absolutely THEE best pancakes EVER! Delightfully fluffy with a perfect golden crisp. Mannn...the eggs were done RIGHT. White cooked and yellow runny. Delicious. Bacon, sausage and O'Brien potatoes I think they're called. Service by Ms. Wendy, was super cordial, as she's always ready to fill your cup or bring u a loving portion of the REAL butter. There's a LARGE container of syrup all for yourself. Mmmm. This place is divinely nostalgic - as it's been there forever, and the food quality is SUPERB! I'll b back to try something different. Thank you! 🥞🍳🥓☕🥤
The ladies here are always friendly and always willing to give advice on the meal of the day. I am a very picky eater because I never know what I want . Every time I come here they take their time with me and always offer me different menu options until I come up with a perfect combination. This is truly one of my go to spots for breakfast if you're lucky enough to catch me that early in the morning.
Staff was friendly and fast. Food was excellent and delicious. Even though their was only 2 waitresses they handled it perfectly. Highly recommend.
This is the best small restaurant I have ever been in. My grandson and I arrived in LA Saturday AM at Union Station. We took a cab to the Travellodge in South Gate. We arrived there about 9:00 AM. We could not check in until 2 PM, they had no benches outside and would not let us wait in the lobby. We started to walk down the block to the corner at Atlantic Ave. We went left on Atlantic and saw Pancake Corner. They had up a canopy outside the entrance for outside dining and had tables and comfortable padded chairs set up. We told one of the servers our problem, she invited us to wait there. This was Wendy Wade. We stayed there until 2 PM and were also served by Fatima Galindo. The owner of the restaurant, Miriam Loya was also great. All of them helped turn our stay in the LA area from a nightmare to a very pleasant and enjoyable experience. Kudos to Miriam and all of you at Pancake Corner. Gene Knox Gladstone, MO.
I really like this place. We try to make it an weekly stop on the weekends. They have one of the best chilaquiles that I have tried. Their servers are always wearing a smile on their faces. Remember to be a little patient on the weekends for they do tend to get busy. Always worth the wait. ENJOY!
Place has been here forever, very nostalgic for me and its great to top!
I love this place! I usually order the pecan waffle and it is absolutely delicious an huge. It also comes with two eggs and sausage or bacon. My waiteress is always nice and pretty attentive. You can eat here for $10 to $15. Its definitely a family environment, but they do have sections for people eating alone.
Delicious food and reasonable prices. The waitress was very kind and friendly. Definitely coming back. Very Worth it!!
Sad to see the negative reviews....but a friend took me here last week for my birthday and I had the strawberry pancakes with home fries. Amazing first time experience. Waitresses were very nice and were keeping busy!
Outstanding service with a smile. Always made sure my coffee was full they prepared my meal in a reasonable time frame. Food was top notch. Very delicious and of the highest quality. pecan pancakes were amazing ! Definitely stop in if your near by. You will be most pleased. My server was Rosa. Her outstanding service with a smile was excullent. :-)
Been going here since 1994, loved it! Great food and all the ladies are fabulous! They seem to like their workplace and are always friendly and polite, I will give them more stars if I could!! 💗🌷
This was my first time there. I wanted to eat there for Mother's Day. The place was packed had to wait to be seated about 30 minutes, so worth it. The food was great, very good serving size, bottomless coffee, reasonable price and the service was excellent.
The food is always delicious and the plates are well served. The service is always great. The only thing is, the parking can get a bit crowded.
Been a customer for over 15 years!!! Great service!!! They treat you like family! The food is delicious!!!
Cozy little place, good food, decent prices. The staff was nice and attentive. Place has been here a long time, since the 20's, so they are doing something right!!
I recommend you consider Kiara and her team for PANCAKES!
A nice and quiet area to eat at. Prices are undeniably great and the food options are good. The interior gives off of an old vintage diner which I loved!
Love the menu do, it's tasty and clean
Great food. Good service. Prices aren't bad. My husband and I ordered a waffle and hash browns. The waffle was a good size. I couldn't finish mine. The hash browns were cooked to perfection. We will be back.
Delicious food. Amazing customer service. The waitresses deserve huge tips for their friendliness. The vibe was relaxing as if you were at home so it's like a family diner. I ordered a strawberry waffle with whip cream, sausage and scrambled eggs. I have no complaint. It was clean, organized as well.
I visited this restaurant while staying at the Bicycle Hotel & Casino. What a gem of a find this place is. The breakfast was great and the staff couldn't be friendlier. I had the banana pancakes and my friend had the steak and eggs; we were both very happy with our meals. I recommend this place for its great breakfast (whether you like pancakes or not, there's plenty of options) A+
Great family environment. Tasty meals. They have free parking.
I like that this place has a variety of options to choose from the menu and breakfast is served all day. Their customer service is awesome as they're constantly checking up on customers to see if they need any refills on their drinks. Their business hours are from 7am-3pm everyday so it's best to get there early. On weekends it's usually pack and since their parking lot is small you will need to park on the street. Credit cards are accepted when you pay over $10. Overall, it's family friendly and a great place to eat out with a friend.
Great variety of food choices for anytime of day.
My mom's favorite place for a very long time toll she passed away. To share it with my niece and her husband from WA was memorable.
Quiet place to have breakfast. People were lovely.
Great pancakes. Prices are reasonable too. Parking looked a little tight but I had no issue finding a spot
Ate here as stayed in the motel 6 behind . 1 miuite walk. Food waz good coffee plentifull . Service waz quick , as not many customers at,8.30 , but started to fill while i waz there, i think spanish owed .. would recomend if in the area .
One of the best local diners with amazing prices, very friendly staff and of course delicious food. I absolutely adored the buckwheat pancakes as an alternative to normal white flour ones.
Friendly and pleasant waitresses. Our food was delicious! We had two breakfast burritos 🌯, one without cheese 🧀. They came with hash browns 🥔. We ordered a side of buckwheat pancakes 🥞 yummy good 😋 I had the waffles and eggs over easy combo with bacon. The waffle was perfect and the eggs could have had just a tad more yolk juice. Overall we were very happy with our breakfast. My grandson had a chocolate shake with whipped cream. Highly recommend. Seems they've been there a long time and I feel good supporting locally owned businesses.
I just happened to be in the area a place that I’m not familiar with so I googled breakfast places. The Pancake Corner did not disappoint and I can’t wait to go back to try something different on the menu. I ordered an additional side of bacon because the bacon was good quality bacon and delicious!
Excellent coffee and delicious pancakes. We were here on a holiday weekend and it was packed fully but the service was stellar and the food came out quickly. We were seated quickly as well. I ordered the blueberry dream pancakes with the blueberries on the side. The cream cheese on the pancakes was really good and I will have this on my pancakes now at home as well. Soooooo good. My husband ordered a breakfast burrito. He started eating it before I took a pic. so the photo of his looks a little messy. The prices are very good also.
Nice Mom and Pop Restaurant, friendly customer service, very reasonable prices, not too expensive. Of course being called Pancake corner. I had to try the pancakes.. in my opinion they were good! Tried the buttermilk pancakes, Buckwheat waffle (different flavor to the waffle rather than buttermilk, still good) and southernwest special (loved the biscuits and gravy) . Being this type of restaurant, not expecting the OMG taste, or fancy presentation. This place has a 5 star in my books.. will come back to try another thing off the menu
If you love home-like flavor, to favor local efforts, to go off the beaten path, this is one awesome little finding. Family owned. The owner is keeping an eye in details and quality and compliance control. Let's help our local businesses by honoring this lafies who work hard to deliver friendly and professional service, so difficult in these days of overabundance of regulations. Bring your good vibes. I ordered scrambled eggs n sausage (they are real eggs, not mixes brought from elsewhere). Sausage was really gooD. Coffee decent and. As you well know, i am a coffee specialist. They take credit cards but as always it is best to bring cash. At least for the tips. CCard in purchase over $10. Restroom, impeccable. Senior friendly. Parking, but it is beat if you come with ride share. Just saying. This little spot is a local legend of sorts. Family ambiance. Bilingual staff.
Food was good service was good, but the parking sucks I know the restaurant can't control how people park, but come on, people learn how to park right!!!
This place has been my go-to breakfast for 20-plus years now. Family-owned friendly service. Our server was a new-hire this morning so be patient when you go he's learning but still very courteous and friendly. Most breakfast staples (+mexican favorites, including menudo on weekends) available until 3pm!
Food was great! I had the Ortega burger - oddly doesn’t seem like Ortega chilies- more like poblano chilies (a bit spicier but I loved it!)- I asked for it on grilled sourdough bread and it was phenomenal. Our server was great! Got our order right and remembered the changes we asked for. Her English wasn’t great but it’s way better than my Spanish. My only complaint is that the booths are so close to the table you can’t take a deep breath. Also every booth has duct tape on the seats. I would definitely go back but I would ask to sit at the counter next trip.
This is a small food establishment with a small parking lot but I think it's worth the try. In my opinion I really liked the food that I ordered, I had the green sauce chilaquiles plate with eggs. My son had the strawberry waffles with whipped cream, eggs, and sausage. We both really enjoyed our breakfast it was fresh, hot and very flavorful. I will definitely be back to try something else on their menu, yes I would definitely recommend.
4 1/2 stars. Pretty solid place. Some places offer dry tasteless pancakes, their pancakes are moist and tasty when you bite into them, I recommend the blue berry pancakes with breakfast sampler plate, the bacon and eggs were fantastic.
Food was just okay. The servers weren't pleasant. It is a cute place if you want that old school diner vibe
Food is really good and delicious the only problem is the service the two women they have getting the orders talk to each other to much and it delays them getting your food and bill. I waited 25 minutes for my food to be ready and there was only one other person waiting when I arrived so they were not busy my food was sitting on the counter for 5 minutes after the workers stopped chatting for a second my food finally arrived, after eating I noticed they were chatting again before bringing my bill. If you see 2 women talking forget it it you will get your food in 20 to 25 minutes by the time they are done chatting
Our waitress, Veronica was outstanding great service very efficient and knowledgeable about the menu she was so delightful it made our breakfast so much better. We will be going there more often.
I'm not a big fan of pancakes but I still attempt to try new recipes from restaurants where I go. I tried them here and there is nothing that makes them stand out. I did love their enchiladas norteñas, which are topped with an egg. They were really quite yummy and not spicy (which I'm not a fan of spicy food). Small local location, with small occupancy seating, and small parking. I would come back here to try other items from their menu.
Food was ok. Order was wrong but I ate it since I was starving. Coffee had a very bitter taste.
The food presentation was good. The pancake taste was very salty. The red plastic cups were outstanding. The cashier double charged me intentionally it seemed, and when I questioned it, cashier double charged me yet again and then two days later after I called my credit card to dispute the charges, they had been reversed back to original.
Hi everyone. Had the opportunity to try "The Pancake Corner" with my family located in the city of Southgate/Downey. The food here is good. I had the pleasure of trying out there biscuit and gravey which was delicious when paired with coffee. The diner is a bit small but we'll worth the trip if your looking for some good breakfast. Wish I took pictures but I didn't remember to do so while eating. The only thing that keeps me from giving it a 4 or 5 syar rating is the small parking and semi small amount of seats available in the inside. Other than that I will still come and enjoy a good breakfast here.
Food was good, but it took forever for the server to take our order. Also other people that came after us got served sooner, not fair but decided to keep being patient. Food was good and that's what matters. On weekends it's full so recommend going during the week.
OMG, do they take their time to serve food and their service sucks. They took 40 minutes to serve us. It wasn't that packed, but did see that the waitress tables were spread out. Maybe management should come up with a sitting arrangement and designate numbers for each table for their servers. It's been 20 years since I served tables but back in my day there was a map one used to follow to ensure efficiency was met. Don't think they know what it means to be efficient and provide friendly customer service. On the positive side, their food did taste good and it was fresh. Not sure I would return and wait another 40 minutes to be fed. Something tells me their cooks don't know about being efficient with their time management or they just don't care. Who knows but I won't be back.
This place is alright service is a bit ehh bacon is decent the pancakes aren't bad way better than Ihop I'll give them that but I will say this the portions are small for the price you pay for not sure if it's worth the hype
Food was okay, some good (waffle, pancakes, hashbrowns, gravy itself). Some I would not order again (I'd avoid taquitos and teriyaki chicken). Prices are very reasonable. Service was okay. They were very busy so it's understandable. Parking was horrible, careful not to park in another establishment. Most appealing out of this joint was the low prices.
I've been wanting to try this place for a really long time but honestly I think it will be my first and last time the food was pretty good the service was not good and the place is so small your literally eating next to other people we asked to move to the bar area where it's more private but they said no
Service is ok, as usual depends who you get as your waiter. Got here like at 10 am, got food after 10 minutes. Needs some work, better for families. I don't think they clean they're utensils very well, so if you eat here please clean them with a napkin.
The food was bland. The food was pricey for the quality. Coffee tasted like it had been pressed through old socks. The country steak was fatty and the sauce in the chilaquiles needs work. I would have given it 1 🌟 but the waitress was courteous. The place needs to be revamped. Buy new cups and plates. I don't recommend this place.
Old mom and pop style. They have outdoor patio. Food is cheap but quality is not there. Ordered waffle, French toast, pancakes. Maple syrup was far the worst. Absolutely zero tastes of maple just sugar and grease. Horrid maple syrup. Waffle tasted more like sour though bread because it was so dense.
Where to start off... Food was "Okay". service? Non existent! My wife and I would always drive by this restaurant and want to eat there but never really gave it a shot. Today we decided what the heck and stopped by for breakfast. Upon arrival the only "greeting" we received was a "sit wherever you want". They were quick to take our food and drink order and getting the food to our table but that's where the service stopped. After about 10-15 minutes of trying to wave down our waitress, We started to wave down any and ALL waitress's that would come into the dining area and we were ignored multiple times. At one point I was asking our waiter for a refill and in the middle of me asking, she blatantly turned around and walked away is if I wasn't just talking to her. It got to a point where we just gave up and decided to ATTEMPT to ask for our bill and to go containers. After 10 minutes we decided we didn't even want to take our food home with us and walked right up to the cashier counter and once my card came out of my wallet that was the quickest service we had received in our experience here. I understand this is a mom and pop cafe but the tables were so crammed into the small dining area that you barely had enough space to sit in the booth comfortably let allowed someone who is pregnant. Not sure who our waitress was but she seemed more concerned about getting her makeup done rather than serving the customers.
I decided to take my mother here for breakfast, and my first impression was ..this place needs a lot of fixing..it pretty much hole in wall place . Their menu is ripped up, and all ..we ordered ham and eggs..(13.99) and pancakes separately strawberry topping (8.99).. I don't like the ham ..it tastes stale or old .. couldn't eat it ..eggs was just eggs and hashbrown taste little off cause of the oil they use ..like old or something..the only food I like was pancake and I will definitely not come back ..the price is not worth the food at all I rather go ihop or somewhere else where they serve fresh food ..
FOOD was basic, nothing special ( home meal would have tasted better) . You get what you pay for. SERVICE was okay. Our waitress never checked up on us. Not friendly ( greeting) rushing ( not patient) unprofessional (talking across the to a few tables down) I'm assuming the regulars who eat there EVERY Sunday. Instead of her attention on me and my order, her attention was with them. When I started speaking, she said, ("Eh??!") Like what??! Lol, very rude smh. I've NEVER had a situation like this, not even at a Dennys or IHOP or even a Tams lol. And this is why she got NO TIP! I don't know what her name is her, but she is the only señora with pounds of makeup on! Awaiting for the nightclub scene. ATMOSPHERE, it's a small restaurant , I'd say no more than 10 tables inside, but don't qoute on it . Hardly no parking, maybe up to 10 spots, sharing with another business. ( I will not be coming again. )
It was my first time eating there and dining in and to my surprise when I ordered their menudo bowl all I got was a bowl with what smelled like tap water broth and a lot of rubber meat with no maiz. When I got the order I immediately lost my appetite and decided to order their chicken quesadilla thinking they wouldn’t mess this up since it’s just cheese, chicken, and a tortilla. But when I got that order the chicken was teriyaki chicken which was really salty. The salad tasted like it was days old vegetables as well. The server was fine she took our orders well and I’m sure the staff are nice, but the atmosphere inside is also really underwhelming and almost unwelcoming. I will not be returning again for the foreseeable future. I attached a receipt as proof of visiting this day.
How does this have so many good reviews? The food has absolutely no seasoning. French toast taste like buttered toast, pancakes taste like cardboard. Extremely dissatisfied and disappointed. Never coming back and neither should you. Waste of time.
This place makes the food look so good but it tastes horrible. Service is not so great we waited over 30 minutes for our food to arrive and the only thing our server said was she can cancel our food. The pancakes are worse than a Popeyes biscuit
Waited nearly 35 minutes for two plates of eggs and toast. Only reason I stayed was in hopes that it would all be worth it but to top it off, they gave me a sorry excuse of bits and pieces of the leftover eggs you scrape off the pan. The ladies were nice, nothing against them; but I would MUCH rather wait an hour at an IHop than come here again. Terrible organization, even worse food. P.s, if you get anxiety in tight spaces, this place would be a nightmare for you. Perhaps all the good reviews come from people who go on a Tuesday morning.
Came here with my husband since we were waiting for our puppy at the shelter near by. I ordered the waffles combo with a coffee and he ordered a hamburger. He's definitely not a picky eater unlike myself and he immediatly disliked the burger on the first bite. The waffle was terrible and the scrambled eggs weren't any better. Definitely wouldn't recommend this place if you want quality food. The service was good. Both the waitress were nice and friendly and seated us quick. I definitely won't be returning. You know it's a bad restaurant if you question your own well being after eating the restaurants food 🤢.
The wait time is horrible. Took half an hour to give me my food, and even then it was missing a lot of the items. Never ONCE got offered a refill. I found myself rationing my one cup of orange juice till the end. The place is also very crammed with kids spilling juice all over the place, and waitresses bumping into you every 5 minutes. I would not go again. I'd eat much better at Jack in the Box next door. For much cheaper.
This place used to be good but today I was very disappointed. The kids menu sausage is very spicy for kids. The cooks take forever took half an hr for some pancakes eggs and burnt sausage. Not really worth it Norms and IHOP is worth the wait for the quality.
Its hot inside, food was semi cold, the parking is the Worst here. The waitress and the "manager or owner" looks like she's desperate for a husband. Her makeup and clothing look like she should work for a trucker bar. And when it came down for me to pay, the waitress/cashier took her guests check before taking mine. I said; "Excuse me I have been here waiting in front of the register and you took her over me?" And she said in Spanish "its because she's from my table" I said; "so you only help your people." She said "no I didnt say that but yes." I got so pissed off. I told my mom never again will I come here. AND there serving portions SUCK. Don't come here.
Cheese omelet had 2 slices of that cheap kraft cheese so gross. Grilled chicken salad was disappointing. The chicken was teriyaki flavored, served with pickles. Never have I heard of a salad like this. Food has no flavor thank God for the salt and pepper on the tables. Dont recommend this place at all. Not even for late nights. Just go to jack in the box haha
Great service but food was a disappointment. Had the waffle w/strawberry topping, waffle was tasteless, too dense, & not crispy at all. They need to change their batter ASAP. Overpriced for quality. First & last time I eat at this place.
Very disappointed there was no parking but we waited for one cause we wanted to eat here. Once we got a seat the lady took our order then waited for approximately 10min to get our beverages then waited for 30min for our food and it wasn't even started. Asked the lady if we can cancel the order and she didn't even said an excuse nor explanation just ripped the ticket and said ok. Like if they don't need more customers well it seems that way or probably short staff. 🤔
They were horrible very nice at the beginning gotin at 11:35 our menu by 11:40 our order was taken and our drinks were given two hot chocolates and orange juice. Thirty minutes passed and I was losing my patience but my friend was saying it wont be too long, trying to calm me down. Ten minutes still no food and it was 12:20 a waitress came and asked us if we ordered already and thats when I knew pur food hadnt even been started. We asked how long it will be and she kept saying almost ready at 12:30 we got up and went to the cashier to pay for our drinks and leave so she pulled our tag, which was still on the wheel behind three other tags and still hadnt been started. She said we didnt have to pay for the drinks which were still full but only after she rolled her eyes at us. Was so excited to try but i regret the hour spent there and hope no one has to go through that.
Rode over 5 miles on our bikes to eat here. I couldn't open my lock. Asked if I could put my bike inside the restaurant, they said no. Tried our best to unlock it, no luck. Asked again if they could accommodate, said no. There were no customers at the time. 2 hours to closing. I'm upset they would not accommodate. We went to jack and a box and Tierra Mia next door with my bike and no problem! Pancake corner sucks! No customer courtesy. Take courtesy lessons. You guys suck! I will not recommend your restaurant. Pancake corner needs new management.
So we walk in they ask how many in our party , we say 10. They sit us down bring silverware and the menus. About 10 min later Another lady from the front comes and with an attitude makes us get up and tells us she had another party waiting , they sit us down again and again they make us get up and they sit us down on 2 other tables... horrible customer service. Not going back! Rather take my money to Dennys.
Due to the pandemic, it's understandable that outside dining is limited.. The service is good. Food had poor taste, small portioned. I couldn't finish my food, I got the runs ,I almost didn't make it to the restroom. Not going back.
Presentation was not appetizing, pork chop was over fried could barely cut it, not worth the price
If I could give it negative stars I would. My son got some pancakes and when we received them they were hard as a rock and eggs cold and soggy. The steaks had only fat and I lost my appetite I threw up.
Waitress rude if you say good morning she gets mad
The parking is snug. The establishment itself is a bit suffocating not too many windows and if you claustrophobic good luck trying to enjoy your meal there. The food isn't all that great and the service is even worse! The last time I visited I went around lunch time and even though their main focus is breakfast food, they do have a lunch menu. So I ordered the chicken fajita dish that is accompanied by orange rice and refried beans only to discover that the chicken had a teriyaki flavor to it... I mean, really? Who does that? Teriyaki chicken fajitas the menu item wasn't even described as such but hey, I could at least say I've had teriyaki flavored fajitas. The waitress that served us was young in her early 20's and she had a terrible attitude. She'd come to the table to ask if we needed anything else but would forget to bring what we requested. I'm just gonna stop there. This place gets a thumbs down from me. Next!
This was my first time here. We came in because of all the reviews we were reading. As we came in we were not greeted, we were not asked where we preferred to sit. After I asked for a booth it was cleaned and we were sat down. Waitress were not attentive at all took a while to come and get our orders. They took care of every other customer except us. At this point I was getting fed up and my face showed it. By this time we noticed that the people In front of us who were already there eating where Bearly getting there order. We lost our patience at this point and decided to pay for our coffee. As the waitress got our order ticket it was behind (4) that means we would off still been waiting like 30+ minutes. They gave us the coffee on the house and we left. I was looking forward to eating here due to all The good reviews it had, but I’m never coming back. The service was awful. And it wasn’t even packed!! On top off it, they had three cooks.
Horrible experience. The waitress was so mean the minute we walked it. If you ask for anything after your order your plate she would roll her eyes at you. The food wasn’t the big issue it was mediocre but ok for what we wanted. The waitress treated us so bad for no reason. Even when she was giving us attitude we still were thanking her and asking nicely. We asked to split the tab into 2 and she refused and gave us such big attitude. We proceeded to just do the single tab because we didn’t want to argue. Save your time go elsewhere.
$22.90 for chilaquiles and disgusting coffee? The sauce was watered down with barely any flavor, and the beans were bland with the rice dry and lifeless. I’m not sure how you manage to mess up beans and rice, but somehow it happened. To top it off, the coffee was instant (confirmed by the waitress). Always wanted to try this place out. There is always a first and last
I've been frequenting this place until today. They should replace the two women who are here today. They know nothing about customer service. I'd like to know who the manager is so I can tell you what they do when they're not there. How can they make fun of the way a person from a medical school talks? One less customer, that's crazy. !!
I ordered Nutella pancakes and everything came up clumpy. The Nutella had stuff in it and it was hard to chew for some reason?? My eggs had too much pepper and it was not good. My French toast was okay but had no flavor at all. I feel like I got food poisoning. Never buying food from here again.
