Opinions de Charlie's Coffee House South Pasadena
I just wanted a solid latte & this spot got it done. I just had a latte with almond milk. The flavor was just right and the temperature wasn’t too hot or too warm, just perfect. Overall a solid morning pick me up. I’d definitely come back again and try their other menu items.
I really wanted to hate this coffee shop, but the delicous food and friendly service took me by surprise. They have limited parking spots, but that wasn't a problem if you go early enough. I ordered their drip coffee and it was subliminal- it had a perfectly light aroma to it and wasn't too hot. I'm really glad they had Splenda too. 😀 Their vegetarian burritos was affordable and delicious. The area bad cushy chairs that provided a cozy reading area, I just wish the music was toned down.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Comforting vibe. Got lavender blended coffee.
Great atmosphere, staff, and decent coffee house food. Parking is usually available as well, though some of the spots say 20 minutes only. Mostly tables for 2 people. Loft (open 9-6) has a large table, and a toy area for kids. Hard to see from the street.
Hidden Gem of a businessA .. Coffee is good ....nice stop over when Biking. Def Great place 2 socialize w a friend. Very nice artwork.
Thank you Kelly for my iced coffee it was made to perfection i also loved the atmosphere really chill

Their team is very friendly. They have a nice parking space. I liked the environment. The inside look very cool. I will go there again.
Love this local little coffee shop. It has wonderful testing coffee has an outdoor patio and comfortable seats indoors the people working here are awesome. The Wi-Fi is pretty fast, which is important for work free two hour parking for every customer.
Cool little coffee shop with all the fixins. Very nice barista as well 👌🏻.
Charlie’s has a nice atmosphere, art on the wall by local artists.

One thing I love about cycling in LA is getting to experience little known neighborhoods that I probably would otherwise never know about. Case in point: Hermon. I’ve lived in LA my entire life, essentially, and have never heard of it. Hermon, as it turns out, is a super quaint little village wedged between Highland Park and South Pasadena. Charlie’s is right in the heart of Hermon. Charlie’s is a dark (really dark) roast only cafe, so the coffee is just not my favorite, but I am admittedly not a fan of dark roast coffees. The prices were quite high for the quality, which is kind of hard to justify when some of LA’s most iconic coffee shops are within walking distance next door in Highland Park.

My first time here! Yummy cranberry scone and vanilla latte ...I will return. . 20 November 2024 Good customer service truly matters. Today's 'barista' has been unfriendly and almost surly. Dude, just don't work in such a people related job.
I guess the loft is closed? Available for rental lol. Also no menu. Name your own price?

Was in the area for an appointment, so I stopped by Charlie’s to grab an iced matcha. The matcha wasn’t blended well at all and I wasn’t able to enjoy it.

Online hours says close at 4 daily. They kicked us out at 2 to close early today and didn't give us reason. Not a good look for business when they don't honor their online hours. Iced Matcha latte was mehh. Free dog treats and dog friendly. Torn and old furniture.

Not sure if place is still open. And out on a Saturday afternoon around 3:00 and it was closed sign said open but everything was off and closed
The owner is completely unhinged..she has come out of her coffee shop yelling at me saying “leave your dog shit everywhere” as I was walking to the dumpster to throw my poop bag away. I stop spending my hard earned money on her lattes and sweet treats months ago. Her lattes are horrible tasting and way over priced for the quality. I go to Jones coffee place on Mission. They are 20x better …
This is the second time I’ve had a bad experience at Charlie’s. Today was worse. A young barista was rude and unable to communicate professionally. When I asked about the food, he told me he doesn’t eat their food, and that I was speaking too low, then after the transaction assumed I said something I didn’t, which wasn’t about him and became confrontational. I was even threatened on my way out, and welcomed not to come back. Not a problem. Never again. This experience lines up with many of the recent reviews, so it clearly isn’t a one-off. It’s too bad. Good location, hope the owners figure this staff bs.
I work in the service industry and rarely leave reviews because I understand how much they can affect a small business. However, I felt the owners should be aware of this experience. The male barista with long hair, glasses, and a Wu-Tang hat was extremely rude and visibly annoyed that I came in to order coffee. I stood at the counter for about five minutes without acknowledgment while he worked on his laptop. When he finally took my order, his attitude made me feel like I was inconveniencing him by simply asking for coffee. After making my drinks, he handed them to me and then made dismissive hand gestures, clearly signaling for me to leave. That behavior is completely unacceptable in the service industry. This experience alone was enough for me to write this review.
Staff is lazy, absent and rude. He literally said “Jesus Christ” to a customer after presented with the fact that the food was terrible. Whoever is in charge of this place needs to train their staff. 20 years in the food industry and this was definitely a first.
Coffee was sub-par. I will not go back. The girl behind the counter was rude. She made 5 drinks for me and didn't have a carrier. I even asked for a cardboard box she didn't have anything. She didn't have stoppers and expected me to take the drinks in my car without anything to carry. On top of that when my son grabbed the hot drink to hold the lid popped off and burnt his hand. She didn't offer any help with my son and just looked away. .This was a terrible experience, overpriced awful coffee and a rude employee.
Walked here for old times sake and they’re closed, despite this page saying they’re open til 4. Goodbye Charlie, you used to be good
I was doing a quick stop at this coffee shop from work. As usual I try new coffee shops on the daily. I order my usual at a coffee shop a latte with a pastry or food item. To start off Latte temperature was good. The espresso itself tasted old and stale. I believe the coffee beans have not been changed to fresh ones. Very small amount of micro-foam on the milk. Meaning the milk was not steamed correctly and water used to steam tastes as if it was not filtered. I was hungry so I also ordered a Bagel. The bagel was very chewy and not fresh as if it was sitting on a bag for a while. I was expecting a fresh toasted bagel with a slight crunch to it. For the price not worth it. Overall good service and a great spot, but quality of product is very poor. The details make the difference. The potential is there.

This place isn’t anything special, so when you have a basic menu with no prices and charge 6.75 for a large latte with no added Flavor. You better be special. If you come here to work all day on your laptop and you like that it’s quite, cool can’t argue with that. But if you want a high quality coffee shop, which LA is filled with, you can skip this place, you should skip this place.
