Very nice cozy restaurant with great vibes and delicious food with top of the line service. The cacio e pepe and the Saint Ambroeus ravioli were both excellent. For the dessert you must get the gianduia (thank me later). Our waiter Alvaro was very professional and accommodating and made our experience here amazing.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Sant Ambroeus – Southampton, NY 📍 30 Main St, Southampton, NY 11968 🍽️ Cuisine: Italian Café · Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch & Gelato 💵 Price Range: $$–$$$ (Pastries and coffee ~$5–9, entrées ~$16–25) 🕒 Hours: Daily; coffee and pastries from morning, full menu through lunch & dinner I love Sant Ambroeus—it’s hands-down my favorite spot in the Hamptons for breakfast. The cozy café vibe, friendly staff, and quality Italian offerings make every visit feel special. On this visit, I had their house-made gelato, which did not disappoint—rich, creamy, and perfect for a summer morning or afternoon treat (). Their breakfast menu is amazing: classic cornetti, flavorful panini, fresh fruit parfaits, and elevated café drinks like cappuccino and hazelnut lattes . Whether I’m stopping in for light pastries and coffee or lingering over eggs Benedict or a tuna panini, it’s always a relaxed, enjoyable experience. The outdoor seating is lovely on nice days, busy with both locals and visitors, but never chaotic . ⸻ ✅ Highlights • Authentic Italian pastries (try the chocolate cornetto or almond cornetto) • Quality espresso drinks & gelato—hazelnut and mint chip are my favorites • Fresh, made‑to‑order breakfast & panini selections • Friendly, attentive service—always a warm welcome • Charming outdoor seating—great for people‑watching or a quiet coffee break

The food at Sant Ambrose is beautiful! The service was spectacular and our waiter had a lot of good suggestions he recommended. I tried the beet and avocado salad, and it was absolutely outstanding. Beautiful wine list as well.

Perfect coffee and peach tart! Stopped by Sant Ambroeus Southampton and had an amazing experience. The coffee was absolutely perfect—smooth, rich, and just the right temperature. The peach tart was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully balanced. A perfect little treat in a lovely setting!

It doesn’t get more authentic than the cuisine at Sant Ambreous. There’s not a dish, pastry or coffee that isn’t perfect here! Love the Southampton location. But again the consistency among all locations is great. Pasta dishes, Branzino, pastries, dessert and the atmosphere will WOW you each time. Madison Avenue and Southampton locations are extraordinary to say the least!

Excellent Italian restaurant with a true spirit of the south Hampton. Excellent decor matching the quality of the food and the service. Very friendly and customer oriented stuff. Not cheap, but this is Hampton after all. We were so lucky to get the table, so due to the high popularity reservation is highly recommended. Inside and outside seating is available. And did I mention huge variety of deserts?

Simply excellent, from service to decor to food. We were there for lunch and the staff at Sant Ambrose Southampton made it a wonderful dining experience. They are attentive and very good at recommending their specialities. We would like to give a special shout out to Remi, who was very warm and made us feel so welcomed. Thank you for making our dining experience an exceptional one, Remi. We had such a lovely time we forgot to take photographs! We highly recommend their ribeye steak

This place is absolutely exquisite and just the kind of establishment you'd expect in Southampton. Besides excellent and attentive service, the food is simply outstanding. We started La Burrata with caramelized figs and honey that's just as delicious as it sounds. We also had The asparagi freddi, the calamari gamberi è capesante, and the carpaccio di tonne and needless to say we were very satisfied. For my main course, I had the tagliatelle con gamberi, funghi e tartufo scorzone. The mixture of the shrimps with the truffle was the perfect complement. And for dessert? Tiramisù which was divine. Zero complaints for this restaurant and will come back again.

I had only breakfast here but the avocado toast was definitely the best I’ve ever head. The bread was absolutely delicious, like a sourdough with sunflower seeds on outer part. The decor and atmosphere it’s a great addition to the whole experience.

Incredible Italian restaurant. The wait staff is incredibly friendly and the pasta was impeccable. While this restaurant is all over Manhattan, we discovered it while in the Hamptons. I generally use cacio e Pepe as a litmus test for how well a chef can make their pasta and this one was up there!! Their gianduja hazelnut dessert was to die for. I’ve heard that all their desserts are incredible

Sant Ambroeus in Southampton is one of my favorite places to eat when I’m out east. The atmosphere is calm and elegant, but still comfortable. I’ve been for both breakfast and lunch and everything I’ve tried has been great. The pasta dishes are always fresh and full of flavor, and the coffee and pastries are just as good. Service is friendly and professional, and the whole experience feels well put together without being too formal. It’s a perfect spot for a relaxing meal, whether you’re dining inside or sitting out front. Always a solid choice.

On of my favorite restaurants. Have been coming here for over 20 years! It is simply the best. The food is always amazing. The people are great and it is such a part of the community. Stopped in for tuna tartare recently!

Accidentally stumbled across this place when needing a mid afternoon recharge and was pleasantly impressed with their coffee. Skip the Starbucks and come here. The espresso was excellent. This place is straight out of Italy. The pastry selection was extensive and we sampled many items.will definitely drop by again when I am in this part of the world.

From the authentic Italian accent that greets you upon arrival to the service ,the experience was spectacular and our waiter had a lot of good suggestions . The food was excellent as well as the atmosphere. We have made it our favorite restaurant to frequent weekly. Bravo to the staff.

I been going to this restaurant last ten years and it is my favorite all time in Hamptons, however last couple of times things has change, specially the servers and managers terrible attitude, its like their doing you a favor by serving you, I asked for a glass of wine they just ignored me from manager to server, maybe Casa Lever, employees should go to train them how to serve a table, I hope upper management can realize and change things soon.

When you walk in you instantly notice the bakery and and all of the beautiful baked goods. The staff is very nice but not very attentive to the tables. They never came to refill our water and it was difficult to hail them to put more Parmesan on our pasta. The various pastas are phenomenal and the sauces are terrific. However the truffle is very bland. The desserts are awesome, especially the tiramisu. Overall, the prices are a lot higher than the rest of the area but food is representative of that value. Would only recommend to New York’s elite.

Fabulous service, cuisine and atmosphere. Referred here for the cappuccino ( Delicioso ) We decided to get something light to hold us over until dinner. Soup and salad hit the spot. It was exactly what we needed. Lovely experience indeed…

Last minute reservation at Saint Ambroeus in Southampton. To start, the olive bread was delicious, and the Dolomiti Pilsner was also very nice. She ordered the fish special, which was a Red Snapper with Zucchini and Onion. The snapper was very nice, tasty and cooked to perfection. I ordered the Fettuccine alla Bolognese, which was also tasty, and the perfect amount of pasta. All in all a delicious meal for two.

Service and atmosphere was really good but I was expecting much more from an Italian Restaurant. Tried a popular cake and it was just a regular birthday cake. Gazpacho was delicious.

Great food with good serving staff. The managers are less than friendly and need a lesson in customer service. One manager almost ran me over rather than to step aside and let me (the customer) go by ;on my way to restroom).

The food has been suffering a bit throughout the years but it’s still a staple for Southampton. It’s very expensive for what you get but it is tasty. Best bet is to stick to the gelato bar, pastries and coffee. Oh, can’t forget about their hot chocolates in the winter. Those are killer.

Not as good as the East Hampton location. Service was off, ordered a bottle of Pellegrino and they didn't bring new glasses or limes. Ordered eggplant parm, it was delicious. Caesar salad good too. Still one of my favorite restaurants, I think they were having an off day.

We visited this café after reading several positive reviews and were looking forward to enjoying a cozy atmosphere, delicious coffee, and quality pastries. Unfortunately, our experience didn’t quite live up to the expectations. First, the prices were quite high for the level of service and overall quality we received. While we don’t mind paying more for a great experience, the value just wasn’t there in this case. We ordered lattes and desserts, expecting them to be freshly made and nicely presented. However, by the time our lattes were brought to us, they were already lukewarm, which was disappointing. As for the desserts, they were not brought to our table at all—I had to go and carry three plates myself, which was a bit awkward and inconvenient. What made it even more uncomfortable was that I had to stand at the door with my hands full, waiting for someone to open it so I could bring everything to the outdoor seating area. It felt disorganized, and there was little attention from the staff once the order was made. Overall, while the location is nice and the café has potential, the service and attention to detail need improvement—especially given the pricing.

Long time Sant Ambroeus customer in the city ( Lafayette and Perry ) and UES . The quality of food is the same totally . However the service was HORRIBLE . Had to ask the server for salt , for bread , for filling my glass up every time even though the place wasn’t busy . At the end he left and I waited a while ,almost like begging them to give me my respected check. Ruined everything .

Food was very good but service was very very slow. We were there for lunch on a Wednesday, not busy. The head waiter was "disinterested". The other servers were fine. The pastries in the front looked fabulous.

Went for breakfast. Coffee was great, food was good. Quality was a bit undervalued based on the price. Service was not the best for a place this pricy.

J

The food and atmosphere is good. The service is polite but very slow. We waited over an hour for sandwiches and a pasta. We were in South Hampton for dinner and two days later East Hampton for brunch. Review is true for both.

I only went there for breakfast. The croissants had an indistinct flavor. Quite good the fans (a sort of sweet). The cappuccino was acceptable. The staff was inattentive (a coffee was left to cool down on the counter). The price was excessive.

First time here not impressed. Service was excellent! The ambiance and the presentation was great but the flavor and quality fell way short. Had the tuna tartar for a starter which was good. The bread was ok surprisingly thier olive oil is really good but the main entrees were both equally bad. The linguine alle vongole was way way to salty and so much parsley chopped way to big. I was picking leafs out of my teeth. (See last picture)The rice in the seafood risotto was under cooked and the sauce tasted like it was from a can of Spaghetti O's. The seafood its self was good except for the shrimp which was over cooked. It seams like they invested all their money into ambiance and presentation over food quality. They need to invest in an actual head chef instead of line cooks.

We got an outdoor seating which is nice and we can enjoy the weather. However we were disappointed with the dish portions, we ordered cacio pepe which is so tiny for $34, even the bolognese was much bigger than the cacio pepe so it doesn’t make sense. Food was bland and nothing really stand out. Service was bare minimum as well.

Great place to come to come if you want to wait an hour+ for your food to come out. Food is good if it ever gets to you.

Very disappointed with dinner last night. Bread was stale and cold. The burger was so dry, bun super dry and without any flavor. We also ordered the Shrimp risotto special. We asked for salt bc it had no flavor. The shrimp had a very fishy taste. We had the chocolate mouse cake for desert. It was stale and tasted like the inside of a refrigerator.

My family has been coming to Sant Ambroeus for over 10 years, but the service has gotten exponentially worse with each visit. I want to share details of our most recent experience on Friday, 9/12. We had a 5:30 PM reservation. We spoke to a person at the desk in front of the alley who told us he would be right back to seat us. The restaurant and alley were nearly EMPTY—over 50 empty tables—yet we waited outside for 30 minutes. He never came back. There was a customer seated outside who was visibly uncomfortable for us as she was witnessing our wait. She suggested I go inside, I did, and the only person I saw was a bartender who was understandably busy with three customers. I waited for a waiter to come out and explained we were looking for a host and had been waiting for 25 minutes. Instead of helping, he got defensive and said, “It’s not my fault—I’m not a host!” That response was incredibly rude. I wasn't blaming him—I just wanted someone to help us. He eventually went to the back and said, “The wait staff is having a meeting. I think they should come out soon.” LIKE WHAT?! We just want to sit down. He then pointed to a blonde woman inside and said we should talk to her. I motioned for her to come outside and told her that my 70-year-old mother and I had now been waiting for 30 minutes in front of an almost EMPTY OUTDOOR restaurant. We were finally seated—with NO APOLOGY, just a brush off, “I’m not sure what happened.” Mistakes happen, I get it. But not even acknowledging the issue with a simple “I’m sorry” is unacceptable. A sincere apology—not excuses—would have gone a long way. To the owners: You should know that the service at Sant Ambroeus has been steadily declining. This was a final disappointment after a few other incidents over the summer. We also frequent Casa Lever in the city and have never experienced anything close to this. Chef Giuseppe is PHENOMENAL, and the front-of-house staff there are always warm and professional. The stark contrast in service within a restaurant group is baffling. Did you forget the restaurant/food service industry is, at its core, a HOSPITALITY business?! If you can’t be hospitable, you’ve lost your way.

All dishes I ordered didn’t have a special touch of a good chef - they were below standards. Hamachi was soaked in oil which overpowered and took away from the taste of the yellowtail, plus served with pieces of pistachios which made a strange combination - again taking away from tasting the unique flavor of the yellowtail. Then beef carpaccio was made out of roasted meat and tasted like a ham - not like a classic raw beef carpaccio and in addition was missing a touch of flavor- the cheese didn’t make up for it and if they would follow the classic tradition serving it with capers and lemon - you can’t go wrong with it, they tried to be different , but failed. The dessert - flourless chocolate cake was nothing special and the tea was not served in a proper way - in order for tea leaves to open up and release the flavor and strength, they have to be poured by a very hot water - and I particularly asked for my tea to be very hot, but the tea was served warm , colorless and flavorless. I was hungry and ate everything , but I will not come back to eat here again. My waitress didn’t like my comment about the tea - she made a face , which was not professional, but I still gave her 25% tip. High prices do not guarantee special food and service, I left the place with unpleasant aftertaste. There are other very good restaurants in the area.

Overhyped, overpriced, and underdelivered. Waited 30 minutes for an ‘iced latte’ that looked like an iced black espresso—bitter with coffee grounds that sank to the bottom. Nothing like the smooth, milky tan it should’ve been. Tried to swap it, got sass instead of service, and was sent to wait another 30 minutes. Left the awful drink on the counter and walked out empty-handed, $10 lighter. Plenty of places in town deserve the hype—this isn’t one of them.
