Excellent food. I haven’t been here in many years. Surprised to see that they actually improved their business in a time where most businesses are cutting costs, lowering quality, and becoming sadder. The hot bread, yogurt appetizers, cold pitchers of water that didn’t taste nasty like 90% of restaurants were a great start. Then the food was actually excellent. Portion, quality, and taste were excellent. I’m Persian and I know what good kabobs are. It’s rare to get anything worthwhile anymore when you go out. I have to admit I was surprised that they do such a good job here. I am looking for are to going back. Only blemish was my rice was a bit undercooked that I was surprised about given how well they did everything else. No one in my party had the same issue. So, I’ll write that off. I had the mixed ground kabobs and both beef and chicken were delicious and perfectly made. The choice of half rice and salad is great with a salad that is very nice while you still get a lot of rice.

If you’re seeking an exceptional Persian dining experience in the Bay Area, Chelokababi in Sunnyvale is a must-visit. During our recent visit, we indulged in the Shish Kabab—a delightful skewer of marinated filet mignon, bell peppers, and onions, grilled to perfection over charcoal. The meat was incredibly juicy and tender, bursting with authentic flavors that transported us straight to the heart of Persia. Accompanied by fragrant saffron basmati rice and barbecued tomatoes, the dish was a harmonious blend of taste and tradition.   We also sampled a variety of other meat dishes, including the Kabab Koobideh and Joojeh Kabab. Each was expertly prepared, showcasing the restaurant’s commitment to quality and authenticity. The Kabab Koobideh, made from marinated lean ground beef, was flavorful and succulent, while the Joojeh Kabab featured tender chicken fillet pieces, marinated and garnished with saffron—a true Persian delicacy.   The ambiance of Chelokababi is warm and inviting, with elegant decor that enhances the dining experience. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, providing excellent service throughout our meal. It’s evident that Chelokababi takes pride in offering authentic Persian cuisine, making it a standout choice for anyone craving traditional flavors in the Bay Area. Whether you’re a connoisseur of Persian food or new to the cuisine, Chelokababi offers a memorable dining experience that delights the senses. Highly recommended!

A True Persian Delight! Chelokababi is hands-down one of the best Persian dining experiences I’ve had in a long time! From the moment I walked in, the ambiance transported me straight to Tehran—beautiful décor, warm lighting, and that distinct Persian hospitality that makes you feel like you are in Persia. Now, let’s talk food—the Persian slider was a total standout. Comes with 4 servings juicy, flavorful, and packed with authentic spices, it’s the perfect bite-sized burst of Persian flavor. And the Joojeh Kabab? Absolutely melt-in-your-mouth tender with that perfect char and subtle saffron marinade that leaves you craving more. Everything was fresh, aromatic, and clearly made with care. Whether you’re new to Persian food or a longtime fan, Chelokababi is the real deal—both the taste and the vibe are unforgettable. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Excellent Persian food. High quality, huge portions and very flavourful. I get the beef koobideh and chicken koobideh plate and my husband loves the shish kabob. The meat is sooooo tender it’s quite amazing. Rice is fluffy. Masto mooser is thick and creamy. They often have Tahdig if you ask for it. I love this place!

A unique take on afternoon tea with delicious bites but smaller portions. I made a reservation for a Saturday at 2pm via Opentable. They require a $10 per person deposit to make a reservation and refund after your visit (FYI my refund was initiated 3 days after our visit). Be aware they add a 22% gratuity regardless of your party size. To start, I ordered saffron tea and my mom ordered royalty. The saffron tea comes in a typical sachet, however, royalty came in a beautifully plated pile of ingredients that you add to your teapot to steep. While a fun concept, my mom's tea was not steeping well and was very light in color so we had to call over the wait staff so they could add more ingredients to my mom's teapot. The tea came with 3 savory items: smoked salmon bites, olovieh (a Persian chicken potato salad), and spinach filo with cucumber yogurt, and 3 sweets: raspberry scone with clotted cream and fruit jams, Persian love cake, and noon chai with chocolate and fresh strawberries. There was also a palate cleanser in between of a mango drink and some additional pistachio dough desserts at the end. The food was all delicious though I was treating this tea as a late lunch and was still hungry afterwards. If you also prefer to treat your teas as their own meals, I'd recommend supplementing it with one of their other dishes.

Great Persian restaurant with a cozy, inviting ambience. The menu is extensive, portions are generous, and everything I’ve tried has been consistently delicious. I’ve been here several times and never left disappointed. The murgh koobideh is my absolute favorite, perfectly seasoned and always cooked just right.

I absolutely loved the interiors of this place it had such a timeless, vintage charm that transported me to another era. The ambiance alone makes it worth a visit! The food was delicious with generous portion sizes, and our server was incredibly courteous and attentive throughout the meal. The menu is quite extensive, offering a great variety of options, and the wine list is massive definitely a treat for wine lovers. The tea menu is also great and the presentation is gorgeous the dessert was also amazing. Highlight of the meal was Sultani the meat was very tender. A lovely spot for a relaxed meal with great service.

Persian restaurant with beautiful decoration, ornaments and dishes! Cuisines are authentic, fresh and delicious. Portions are standard with decent amount. Good selection of beverages. Veggie section stands out with pleasant options. The gentleman host was very welcoming and helpful. Service was quick, responsive with attentive waiters. Free parking lot get filled up quickly but still manageable. Reservation recommended. Good for couples, kids, seniors and groups.

The restaurant has a classic vibe and tends to be quite crowded. The wait time for food was almost an hour, which is pretty long. Prices are on the higher side. The food tasted good—I especially liked the dough (yogurt drink), but the medium cup was priced at $7.50, which seemed a bit much. I had the barg kebab, a dish I’ve tried at several other restaurants, but here it was very thin and seemed smashed. Parking on weekends is also challenging.

We came for afternoon tea at the time of our reservation, there were plenty of tables available. We were greeted quickly but then waited ~10 minutes for someone else to check us in and seat us. This was annoying and unexpected given the reservation policies specify that reservations are for 1.5 hours, creating the expectation of efficiency. We then sat for another 10-15 minutes before our tea orders were taken, we were never asked if wanted anything extra, and the first food from the fixed menu didn't arrive until ~40 minutes after our reservation time. The tea room is beautiful, the place settings, dishes, decor, and lighting are lovely (so is the rest of the restaurant). The herbal teas came as a plate of fresh and/or dried ingredients that steeped in clear pots, which created a lovely effect as the color deepened. We had to ask for cream twice to go with the black tea and got it eventually. The food was good and felt plentiful, though individuall portions are small it all added up to a filling, tasty service that lasted ~2.5 hours (from our reservation time). The afternoon tea service has a lot of potential. The herbal tea is special and unique, the space and dishware are lovely, the food is thoughtful and yummy (clotted cream! salmon toasts! mango palate cleanser! spinach pies! mini cream puff!). Hopefully the service will tighten up, guests will be seated upon arrival, food will arrive promptly, and restaurant policies will be followed or adjusted so that if expectations are set they are also met.
