Opinions de Mazatlan Susanville
We had an amazing dinner tonight. The food was fresh. Customer service was top notch. The drinks were really good. The chicken mole is my favorite
Went here for my birthday dinner. Service is friendly and quick. My husbands favorite super spicy dish is the Diabla (sp?) shrimp. Super spicy and yummy. The lunch combos are super affordable and portion sizes are generous. Highly recommend for a quick, affordable Mexican meal.
Their shredded beef is the best in the business! Never a bad meal at Mazatlan Grill! I eat here every time I visit my parents!
Authentic Mexican cuisine. You won't go away hungry, or broke!
You simply can't get a better meal, at the perfect price, with exceptional service, anywhere else in town! Family friendly. Great for preordering company lunches. Excellent at catering.
As a Celiac who has an extreme eating disorder the manager and staff have been such a comfort to me in their exceptional food industry knowledge about gluten allergies. Theirs is the only restaurant in town I can patronize because of this, there efforts. Their staff are very kind as well. Well done!
Went there for lunch and had the beef carnitas. Food was good with good portions. Service was also good with good customer attention. My date got the wrong drink but this was not an issue. All in all a good meal with outstanding company.
Oustanding authentic mexican cooking, family-run, full service bar, friendly staff, prompt service..
I love their food!!! But I got take out and they still are the best and why I always choose them for Mexican food
Good food here. Ladies were nice. Cousin Sammy Uriarte lives here. Caltrans Regional manager is retired too. Sammy , Mark, and Alex were kissing my wife more at my Dad's wake than me. They like blondes too. Too many beers.
Deliciouso! Cinco estrella. Surprised me to find this quality of food in or around Susanville. If you haven't tried it, you should. The quality of the products used is excellent. Shredded ALL white meat chicken, tender carne asada. The beans and rice are average but topped with lots of cheese so that's a plus. The restaurant is clean and the restrooms are as well. Staff is friendly and quick.
This is the best Mexican restaurant in the area, for at least a 100 mile radius. It tastes great ample quantity and quality. Friendly staff with great smiles. Looking forward to next time
Very good! And that very kind police officer in the mirror, allowed us to carry on to this fine restaurant, without getting a ticket for a traffic violation. My old man was hungry 😂 so we bought his meal of course, and the other two officers that joined him and three meals to go. They didn't know! It was still cheaper than having to drive back from Olympia WA for traffic court! So we went back to the casino hotel and put $20 in the machine and got $450💖 that's karma for you 💖 gotta love susanville CA 💖💖
Great Mexican food with great staff food is always good atmosphere is always good and we always leave full with leftovers in a great mood.
Mazatlan Grill has excellent Mexican food. The waitress we had today was exceptionally attentive. She took our order promptly, checked on us frequently during the meal and was very pleasant. She made our dining experience a pleasure. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Have had the New York steak there twice, and both times it was great. Also excellent are the breaded shrimp, camarones mojo de ajo, pollo a la crema, and their burritos. This place is a regular for us.
One of the few places to eat in town. As we were passing through we stopped in and place a small order. Although my order was initially wrong, the waitress took the time to make a correction with the kitchen staff and quickly replace our items. Would definitely stop back again.
The food here is really good! I don't like real spicey food, so while it may not be some people's definition of Mexican cuisine, it's perfect for me! I love the salsa...I eat it with my chips, then pour it over the enchiladas! Plenty of food at very reasonable prices, too.
Really great food! I had the steak fajitas and they were delicious! I also have to eat gluten free, so eating out is sometimes a bad experience for me, but I didn't get sick so I am extremely happy.😊👍🏼
Great Food Great Music
Really good food, flavorful and large portions! Good prices!
Food is delicious! Hands down best Mexican Restaurant in town.
Food was delicious. Two styles of salsa for the chips. Chips were fresh and crunchy. Whole pinto beans creamy and rice full of flavor. Enchiladas were served with plenty of sauce.
Great food always go to whenin Susanville
The food was very good. The portions are fairly large. They have a lot of staff, so that the customers can receive very good service. Our waitress watched our table and refilled my water glass Everytime I emptied it, right away. The prices were reasonable. The restaurant has good decorations. The bathroom was clean and we'll stocked with supplies. We enjoyed our dinner and time together.
Chicken al le creme is my fave! So good! Great portion sizes, friendly staff, best margaritas!
Really great food, the fajitas and enchiladas are my personal favorites. The bar nice and has a decent selection. The salsa put at the tables could use some work, like smaller more edible pieces with thicker sauce, but the flavor is fantastic, their chips are good too. What stands out most is the service, the service here is always helpful, friendly, and kind. If you're in the area give them a try. You'll be pleasantly surprised.
Impressively fast service. The meal arrived in only slightly more time than it took for me to wash my hands. I ordered shredded beef mole enchiladas and my husband ordered beef tacos. We both found our meals to be tasty and enjoyable.
The chile relleno was cooked perfectly and sauce wasn't too watery and had a good flavor. The carne asada fries had a lot of meat and cheese and the fries were crispy. Margaritas and beer selection had multiple sizes to choose from, service was great and food prepared quickly.
When I first ate there, the food tasted fine at first, but as I went there again, everything else tasted better! From chicken tenders (which I buy sometimes; yes they have those here!) to cheese enchiladas, everything else time by time had gotten significantly better!
The Mazatlan Grill really is a hidden gem of Susanville. The staff was incredibly friendly, and we only waited for maybe 10-15 minutes for our order. I definitely recommend the Mazatlan Special. (See picture). Perfect spread of shrimp, carne asada, and chicken. Rice beans and tortillas too. The meat was tender and juicy, the shrimp was perfectly grilled with a delicious butter sauce. So tasty that I ate every bite!
I'm so happy!! Just moved up here from Sacramento County and have been looking for a Mexican restaurant in this area with tender, flavorful Chile Colorado. Found it!!! Beef is slow cooked and tender, with just the right amount of spice! Staff is attentive and polite, quick service. Thank you!
Best Mexican restaurant I’ve been to in a long time. I travel a lot, and I’ve been to MANY Mexican restaurants. This one takes the lead, I’ve been here twice already. The portions are big, staff is fast and efficient, and everything tastes fresh. I got the tacos and the meat is so flavorful. They sprinkle fresh cilantro and onion on top with lime and it tastes so good. I didn’t expect much from a restaurant in a small town but if you’re hungry and passing through Susanville, eat here!!!
I read other reviews on yelp that made this place not worth stopping. It was worth it after I took a chance. The asada plate I ordered was great tasting and the Cadillac margarita strong.
Me and my grandma came by while travelling, the service here was amazing! The food was great and they really cared for our needs. They also keep everything clean, which we really appreciate. I would definitely reccomend if you need some good food and a nice place to spend time with family. :)
Yum! Excellent food and reasonable prices. Lots of seating area and a separate large area for private parties. Very clean inside, bathrooms included. Waitress was nice and efficient and very attentive. 3 large meals, a large nacho platter and chips and salsa all for $53. Wish i had remembered to take pictures. A little more parking would be nice but worth the walk if you have to park a few doors down.
Good food people that run it are nice, enjoy the dishes the three amigos.
We went there for the first time last night and we both ordered something different but were both very happy with the food. The staff was very nice and our food was great served in a reasonable amount of time. We will be going back.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Mazatlan Grill Inc. is always a solid choice. The food is fresh, flavorful, and comes out hot, with generous portions that actually leave you satisfied. Service is friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable—great for a sit-down meal without feeling rushed. Consistently good food and a place I’m happy to come back to.
I gave this place a try after a coworker's recommendation. Staff were nice, the food hit the spot, and the cocktails were great for a postwork dinner or if you wanna come here for a casual get together.
Oh my goodness the bestbfood ever. I always get a chimichanga and never in my life had I ever had an amazing one. The least was magnificent loved it highly recommended 👌 👍 ❤️❤️
I came into Susanvill for work and a co-worker suggest the Mazatlan. This was some of the best Mexican food I've ate in a while. I got a plate with a chimichanga, tamale, and chile relleno. It came with beans & rice, some guacamole, and chips & salsa. My favorite was the chimichanga 🤤🤤🤤.
Excellent service amazing food parking is a little hard but worth the food best place in Susanville
Ohmygoodness this is a gem of a place in Susanville. Their menu items are so affordable. My husband tamale plate would have been $20 plus anywhere else and it was only $14. Very sweet staff, good Mexican food. We will stop here again.
Service was top-notch from the moment we entered. Greeted and served by everyone! The food was fresh and delicious, authentic Mexican food! The cocktails were refreshing.
My all time favorite place for a delicious Mexican meal. Servings were so big was almost embarrassing. Taste of everything single thing we ordered, from the drinks, to the chips n salsa, to the meals, were outstanding. We were too full to even think about desert. Lol. Service was friendly, helpful and just made us feel very comfortable. This will be a regular place for me and mine to visit as soon as I get moved to lemmon valley. Location is perfect, as u have to pass right by it to get to my son's house. Was a amazing experience for sure. Not 5 stars. I rate it at a 10 or above. Nice job Mazatlan grill
I don't know how you do laundry but this is how I do it...The Mazatlan salad is to die for. It's big and yummy. It's enough for lunch, dinner and a midnight snack. I love going here. The service is great and the girls are warm and friendly. They know what I want as soon as I walk in the door. 2 salads a beer and a 10$ tip was 40$. Worth every penny
We stopped in late upon arriving in Susanville for a quick overnight stay. Mazatlan was the only thing still open and our fingers were crossed for some decent Mexican food and a good margarita. Imagine our delight when both (Wet Tacos with steak and the Pork Chili Verde) were exceptional, along with the chips, salsa, and staff. A definite do-over on our way through next summer!
Funny place. Can't say I've ever had sweet and sour sauce in a burrito before, but I also can't say I didn't like it. Service was very slow, however. Make sure you have plenty of time if you go here.
Ventured up to Susanville from Reno to get away and grab some lunch. This place ranked pretty high for locals and there were a lot of cars parked nearby. We decided to give it a shot. The food was as good as most Mexican places in Reno, and around most towns. The service was very friendly. The prices were more than fair. Beer served cold, margaritas delicious. Meals were served quickly considering all the tables were full. It was good and we will be back next time we are in town.
The food here is always amazing, every time I come. Normally the servers are great, this time this guy was a little creepy. I don't have a name so its not like it matters but he kept getting uncomfortably close to us. Like basically sitting in our booth with us. I dunno, it was very strange.
Stopped in to try their food again. The shredded beef chimichanga tasted very good with small "salad" of lettuce, guacamole, tomatoes & shredded cheese (no sour cream for me). Also ordered a margarita on the rocks. Great flavor! Dessert was churros w/whipped cream on the side. They tasted amazing with the mix of cinnamon & sugar, drizzled honey, chocolate & caramel sauces. In addition to their free chips and salsa appetizer, I left feeling *very* full. Great service as well. Waiter checked on me but wasn't annoying or rushing me.
Very friendly and helpful staff. The first time i ate here they got my girlfriend's and my orders wrong. The second time I went they got everything right and it was delicious. If you eat here, definitely try the apple chimichunga....it's amazing.
Decent place to grab lunch or dinner. They serve average Mexican food and have all the common entries on the menu. For the most part all the staff is helpful and nice. The restaurant does need some remodels, there are a few spots in the ceiling that are falling down due to water damage, the carpet is in need of replacement and the restrooms are not the nicest.
Reverse racism? Subtle but apparent, at least to me, by a few of the staff.
Went for lunch on weekday. Not too crowded. The restaurant was clean and drinks were quickly brought to table along with chips n salsa. I really like a thick salsa and this was very watery. The food was good, and no complaints, but needed just more oomph or flavor. Mexican food has to have some oomph! However, the portions were nice in size. The waitress didn't come back except to bring the bill which was disappointing. My friend has been here a few times before and recommended. I'd go back and give it a 2nd try.
Is a mom and pop type establishment that was on the bigger size. Was clean and tidy facility. Service was a tad slow but adequate. Server wasn't the friendliest person around, but pleasant enough. I had the sausage breakfast burrito and was pretty tasty. Would eat here again if in the area.
While traveling through Susanville CA, we decided to stop at Mazatlan Grill for lunch. The parking is a little tight but manageable. We were seated quickly and drinks ordered soon after. Mazatlan Grill has a good selection of Mexican fare and is reasonably priced. The wife had shredded beef flautas and I ordered Chili Verde. Both dish were flavorful but had no spicy heat at all. While we enjoyed the meal, some spicyness would have made it fantastic. The interior is getting rustic but remains clean and maintained. Will stop here again.
Food was good had great options for all budgets, but our server wasn't the best. Had to get up twice to find someone to help and she was sweet and kind. Very quiet and could easily feel like you're yelling or over hear others conversations.
The food was good the portions of the main dish were hiker friendly. I wish it was more than a normal size spoon of sour cream and guacamole served with such good sized dishes. Chips were satisfyingly crunch and salsa was seasoned not spicy. Mountain Town pricey unfortunately but good community.
I always get food to go, so I can't say much about the atmosphere of the restaurant, but it seems nice when I go in to pick up my order. I do find it odd and not of general practice to have a customer try and remember their order number when calling in instead of using ones name like the majority of the restaurant world. It's dumb🙄 Their food is decent but not the best Mexican food I've had. Their chips are terrible. I don't know if they use old oil or what, but I threw them in the garbage. While I like the chicken flautas, they need to fry the tortilla better so that the flautas are not soggy by the time one gets home after a quick 5 minute drive. Nothing worse than soggy flower tortillas that fall apart while trying to eat. Their rice is decent, but their refried beans are bland. The bean and cheese burrito is common. They need a variety of melted cheese on top; It would add flavor. Maybe even some fresh parsley and parmesan sprinkled, too. Their portions in general is pretty good. Their prices are a tad expensive; but everything is anymore. I am glad to see they finally marked their parking lot with parking lines because in general; their location is terrible and the parking lot a nightmare when entering and exiting. For a small town, Mazatlan is pretty good. Fix the time they spend frying their flautas and enhance their wet bean and cheese burrito with toppings to enhance flavor, and I'll give them 5 stars.
Had the Three Amigos. Pretty good. I am a shredded beef taco fanatic and base my rating of a Mexican restaurant off of them. I unfortunately didn't see shredded beef on the menu so I had to try something else. Im not disappointed the dish was delicious. If they would have had shredded beef they might have recieved 5 stars.
Cheese enchilada was sprinkled with cheese & I mean almost no cheese. Salsa was watery. Rice was good. Waitress were pleasant.
Mazatlan is good for the price. Ironically, the best thing I have found on the menu is the New York Steak. I've had it several times and it's always cooked perfectly. It's nice that they offer American food for picky kids. They offer a special menu for light eaters which is nice as well. The guacamole is pretty good and the chips are fresh. I have not been too impressed with other menu items, but I am from Santa Cruz, so the Mexican food in Watsonville has me a bit biased and spoiled. My boyfriend loves their chicken mole, enchiladas, and asada tacos. My roommate loves the super burritos with shredded beef. They are huge. It's the best Mexican food I have found in the area. The staff is friendly and they keep it pretty clean. The booths are a bit uncomfortable though. They get really busy between 6-7:30 and the parking lot is small. Overall, I'd recommend it for lunch or a casual dinner. Just don't expect a lot of seasoning and you will enjoy it.
The food is good or at least the rice and guacamole was I asked for no cheese or sour cream, due to an allergy, in my burrito asked before I left. Only to drive 45 minutes home and cut into my sour cream and cheese filled burrito. They were nice enough.
The decor is old and dated. I mean really dated. Some of the booth furniture is torn and worn. The food is ok but not going out of the way for. It costs a lot to eat out so I think you should get your money's worth. They are in a small town so their competition is one other place and Taco Bell. Some people really like the place. It just didn't seem a 5 star place.
As always the food is delicious. And again as always the service is extremely slow, and only sometimes friendly. Wasnt too bad tonight but it's not the service that will make you want to come back...its the fact that this is the only Mexican food in town. At least when you do manage to get it good.
Food acceptable, though I thought the mole sauce and rancho beans were from a can. The service, well, no so good. No intro of "I'm your waiter". Slapped the food down, threw the ticket at us and didn't even say thank you after we paid. I bet he thinks we are crummy because we did not leave a tip. A tip is earned, not entitled. Would not eat here again simply because of the poor service.
The service was bad for us. We seen a man come in after we did and he seemed to know the people working there. Ordered his drink and food and he had in about 15 mins. When we got there we was seated and ordered our drinks, they took about a few minutes to get there not to bad. When are drinks came we ordered are food and eat on the chips and dip. I ran out of drink had to go to the cash register to get a refill. And we waited on our food for 55 MINUTES to get the food.
Some days there's fast service. But most of the time it's really slow. The people that work there are really slow at getting drinks and extra napkins. I feel like they rush me to eat and get out. Not very good vegetarian options or vegan options.
Food ok. Waiter brought me the wrong order. I asked for water and we never got it. Waiter did not check in on if we needed anything else. They took forever to give us the bill. Not impressed.
I usually love eating at Mazatlan Restaurants but this one was an exception. I had chicken mole. The chicken was hard and had no flavor to it. The mole sauce was good but did not eat it because of the poor quality of the chicken. We ordered the grilled chicken plate for the girls and once again same issue with the chicken. It was the same chicken they used for the mole! They are the rice and beans with chips. The cóctel de camarón was good with a good portion size. Staff was friendly. Clean bathrooms.
Bring your own salsa and seasoning. Blandest least effort Mexican food ever. Ignore all these reviews saying it's authentic Don't get me wrong. The food is eatable. It wasn't bad by any means just disappointing Salsa was a joke, go buy boby Salazar salsa. Seriously boby salsa is miles ahead Chips were alright? The nachos were well nachos? No notable flavors stick out. No noticeable spice not even a dash of jalapeños or an attempt to sprinkle seasoning at the last second. The shredded beef was just beef and tasted like it. Used shredded cheese they melt over the chips. Micks uses actual nacho cheese sauce and seasonings No horchata or any aqua fresca, which is a sign it's not authentic. If you want Mexican food and havnt actually tasted real homemade (or even somewhat decently prepared) Mexican meals do yourself a favor and go anywhere else. If you're spicing up the eating out I guess give it a try? But any meal made in 10 minutes either you got lucky with them already having everything prepared (doubtful) or heavy microwave use.
Do not order a Margarita! I think it was a mix of Lime Gatorade and maybe a touch of tequila. Typically you can always count on a decent margarita at a Mexican food restaurant but not here. Churros were yummy though.
Food was terrible the meat in my burrito was still cold and there was flys in the restaurant while we were eating are dinner the salsa was very bad like water down salsa with no kick to it I do not recommend this Mexican restaurant to eat at service was bad also with kids running and screaming and the parents did not do anything to discipline there kids we just leaf the restaurant.
My experience was not a pleasant one overall. The waitress when asked if they had Aguas frescas looked at me like dear in head lights and said she didn't know what those were, mind you the entire staff looked of Hispanic decent. The basic rule to judge a Mexican restaurant for a Mexican is : how's the chips and salsa. ...they were bad. I'm usually one to stick the mild salsa however I tried both and I could not differentiate between the two. They lacked taste, texture and spice. Looks alone had me question it and my taste buds agreed it was probably my least favorite salsa I've had in my life. With the salsa in mind I elected the item I thought would be least likely to be messed up ...carne asada tacos. I was wrong they can be messed up as well. The corn tortillas were clearly heated up in the microwave and had a faint taste of butter, the meat had decent taste to it however it was cold and the onion and cilantro on top were diced in fairly large chunks not typical for tacos... I was very disappointed with the food to say the least. However the place was clean and the staff was friendly.
I thought it was better the last time (a couple years ago), my Carnitas didn't seem to have any seasoning and was more fat & scrap pieces than chunks of meat, $75+ for 3 people w/o alcohol drinks. And saw a couple of them (server & someone else) staring at us. I asked if we could get ice cream with the deep fried apple dessert and never bothered to follow up with me. I can only guess they thought something rude for my food and service, even though I was not? Nobody in the party was. Perhaps because it was late, but at least 1 person came in after us. I would be hard pressed to eat there again and to be treated like that!
I am so disappointed in Mazatlan. I ordered the Chimi meal and this is what I got. A small burrito cut into 3 pieces with melted sandwich cheese over it. They didn’t include the side of guacamole I ordered and paid for. Last time I ate there a year ago the food was so good. I wouldn’t recommend this. Over 30$ for this and a margarita which was the only decent thing about this meal.
Seriously, worst meal of my life. My water-like chili verde tasted horrible and had chunks of gelatinous fat attached to the pork. Licking a hogs hoof would taste like a gourmet meal in comparison. If you want better tasting food, go to the frozen food section of the Susanville Supermarket.
If I could leave 0 stars I would. A month ago we ordered a platter of rice and beans and two sides of salsa for a party, and we decided we wanted to again for a party today for my dads birthday. We ordered over the phone and had the entire order repeated to us. Keep in mind we already knew what the price would be because we ordered this a month ago. We get to the restaurant to pick it up and had an argument with the lady at the front, she claims we didn’t order beans. How in the world would a platter of rice and two sides of salsa cost $58.72? It wouldn’t. When we ordered it last time it was $58.72 for EVERYTHING. All we asked was to please be given the beans as well because we paid for it and she kicked us out because she said we were wrong. Never coming back here again. Food is mediocre, management is the worst I have ever experienced. 10/10 do NOT recommend.
Drove here coming from Oregon? Was very hungry! I ordered beef fajitas and molcajete? Well? Our waiter took for ever to take our order when we got our food. Food was like microwave preheated. That was not fajitas or molcajete! If you are looking for Mexican food! This is not the place! Oh and my fajitas has a sweet seasoning on it. Who eats sweets meat fajitas not me 😉 will not ever eat here again
Food is good but service really sucks. We've been here twice and both times I have to get up to get something, waiter did not come around once to check up on us. They are kinda rude. I think this will be the last time I co.e here.
We ordered 133 dollars in food and they charged us $733 dollars. After saying they refunded the money a week later we have not received our money back. The food given to us was cold on top of that and our family is out 600$ because they cannot tell the difference between a one and a 7 we will never go back do not recommend.
Burrito with a side of bug? There was a nat in my burrito. Had to get another one. Was seated 30 minutes before or server checked on us. Another server who was absolutely wonderful bought our refills, meal, and got us the new burrito. Our server was rude, never checked on us. Terrible experience. It was NOT BUSY. Or server didn't come speak to us, ask how our meal was, refill our drinks.
