This is a great laid-back restaurant. It appears it doubles as a sports bar but has great food as well. We came for the all you can eat crab legs and we're also surprised with how good the side dishes were. We had great service from Geo who was constantly checking up with us to make sure we have plenty of food and drinks. We will certainly be back.
Great restaurant with a Awesome atmosphere. Gio was a great waiter and the kitchen staff cooked the crab legs perfectly. Drove from Palm Harbor to try this place and will be back to try other items on the menu.
A friend of mine and I went here for the unlimited crab legs! I will say, I was a little skeptical due to the cost, $65 for unlimited (2 hour limit), but it was worth it! We both ordered some margarita, which were delicious, and they starred us out with some shrimp (choose hot or cold, comes with the crab) and basically unlimited sides. Tried the rice, which wasn't great, but the chowder was delicious...hint of spice. But, I saved as much room for the main event, the crab. It was delicious, very hot, and our server was very attentive. I'd gladly come here again to try out some other seafood items on the menu.
This is a return place for sure! Great servers friendly environment. The quantity you get for tacos is worth what you're going to spend here. Drinks are also exceptional!
I was on the hunt for Taco Tuesday but stumbled upon the mouthwatering delight of Fajita Wednesday instead! I almost kept this hidden gem a secret because if everyone discovered the amazing BOGO fajitas, I’d never find a table again. But let me tell you, the patio is an experience in itself! Don't miss out on this place. You won't leave hungry.
We went to the surf shack for taco Thursday. I had a shrimp, fish, steak and blackened chicken taco. There was a really good selection of tacos and the food was excellent. The service was also great. The margaritas were good too. We sat outside and it was just the perfect evening. We will definitely come back for taco Thursday again.
Today we came in for all you can eat crab legs and it was a fun brunch! Our waitress was very nice and attentive and entertaining! Everything was great! We had the grouper grilled, and the all you can eat crab legs
came for all you can eat crab legs! Great price, salad, bread bowl with lobster bisque was included for 55.00.. can’t beat that! All the food is high quality and delicious.
My first time dining at Surf Shack Coastal Kitchen and I will definitely be going back. I had the grouper which was amazing! The food was excellent and well priced. My brother had the fajitas and he said they were excellent. I want to try the tacos on my next visit. It was a Friday night and we had no problem getting a table. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual. Our server was also good. I absolutely recommend trying it out.

As a Saturday night solo diner, I ❤️ dining at the bar. Zach had just the right timing combination for service blended with conversation & started me off with the night's drink special. I enjoyed the all-you-can-eat 🦀 and 🍤. I chose jicama slaw, pretzel bread, & roasted/fried potato chunks as sides. Jicama slaw is my new favorite. Definitely end your meal with the cookie dough canolis to go. I was too full and they warmed beautifully in the microwave as a bedtime snack.

I’ll admit, I came in pretty skeptical after seeing all the low reviews but I’m so glad I didn’t listen to them! The food was actually really good. The crabs were fresh and flavorful, and the steak fajitas hit the spot. Service was on point too. our server was friendly and attentive. Honestly, don’t let the bad reviews scare you away. This place does not smell like a toilet (I promise 😂). I left full and happy, and I’d definitely come back!
Food is of good size and tastes great! Service is excellent.. harder and harder to find good service but they did very well. They have good deals. We went on Sunday when kids eat free but we didn’t know that until the waitress said something so I feel like we got a free meal for sure. The things I didn’t like is that the fajitas didn’t come with guac and also no beans but it isn’t a Mexican restaurant so I can’t fault them for that especially when it’s so cheap and so good.
Very good seafood. All you can eat crab legs on the weekends are a great deal. Crab chowder was good and so were the peel and eat shrimp.
The bartender was phenomenal, and their buffalo appetizer and fresh grouper sandwich were excellent. They even have fun video games to entertain you. It's a cool and relaxing spot to enjoy some great food.
My daughter had just flown into town and she loves crab legs so we decided to stop at Surf Shack on the way home. We were not disappointed. My daughter doesn't eat carbs so instead of ordering two one-pound dinners with all the extras like fries, bread and slaw, we just order a single two-pound dinner and split it. Our server told us it would be four clusters of legs but when it came out, it was actually five clusters. In addition to the delicious crab, it included very good breaded style fries, a large pretzel bread stick and some of the best slaw I've had. Our server even brought some beer cheese dip to go with the pretzel. One thing I need to mention is that the crab dinner prices were $5 more than the menu shown on their website so they really should update that. But even so, the prices were very good. My wife had a steak taco and a bangin' shrimp taco, both of which were large and tasty. Service from Alyssa was excellent and there was live entertainment from a group that played a great selection of 60's and 70's folk rock. We'll definitely be going back when we're in the area.

I decided to give this place a shot since I was over here in the area. Driving for Uber and food was pretty good. Atmosphere was great. They do offer. All you can eat crab legs. There was a guy that looked very well in tuned, so I assumed they were good too. The bartender he was pretty cool. He did have some recommendations. The staff seemed pretty laid back and nice. It did take me a little while to get seated when I came in. Cause the girl was no where to be found at that moment, but besides that it was a pretty good place.

With a name like that you’d think fresh & tasty. Well, what a disappointment. Food was heavy, bland, grossly rich, & just ugly, but at least the server was nice (although you clear a table who’s left most of their food untouched & don’t ask about it?). It was a ghost town when we went & now we know why. It’s sad really. Great location. Terrible execution of the menu. I mean, how do you mess up basic tacos? The egg rolls sounded like a good bar food style idea, but the texture of the chicken inside was like dry canned tuna paste. In fact, there was a note of fishiness. Aside from the egg rolls, none of the food was hot. Maybe the only thing worth it here is the AYCE options but not something we eat so won’t be returning. Feels like at one point maybe this place was really good with cool Sunday Funday vibes every day but has probably gone downhill over time. It felt neglected. On a positive note, ginger ale was delicious & they have a nice outdoor patio with TVs & there’s an arcade game room situation next door that you can access from inside with a hospitable bartender.
Surf Shack Review: Good Vibes, Mixed Dishes, Stellar Margaritas Surf Shack in Tampa Bay had its ups and downs on our Thursday night visit. While the atmosphere and service were great, some dishes fell short. Highlights: Dee, the bartender, was a star! Friendly, attentive, and a margarita magician. Her creations were undoubtedly the highlight of the night. Fun, casual ambiance: Surf Shack lives up to its name, offering a relaxed beach vibe perfect for a laid-back dinner. Mixed Bag: Queso blanco: The texture was gritty, suggesting a pre-made mix or improper preparation. It wasn't the best representation of this classic appetizer. Tacos: While generally tasty, they arrived lukewarm, impacting the overall enjoyment. Dee's recommended filet mignon taco was the clear winner. Temperature: Serving slightly cooler tacos was a letdown, as warm fillings would have significantly enhanced the experience. Overall: Our experience at Surf Shack was decent, primarily thanks to Dee's excellent service and the vibrant atmosphere. However, some dishes missed the mark. If you prioritize friendly service and strong margaritas, Surf Shack is worth a visit. Be mindful of potential temperature inconsistencies with certain dishes. Additional Tips: If you visit, ask for Dee and try her margaritas! Consider going on Thursday nights for a livelier atmosphere. Opt for dishes less susceptible to temperature issues, like the filet mignon tacos. I hope this revised review accurately reflects your experience and provides helpful information for others considering Surf Shack
There wasn't anything special about this place but there also wasn't anything terrible about it. It was just...okay. I stopped in for lunch and there was only 2 other customers there so if you want a place to eat by yourself on a weekday, this is it. There was only one server who seated people, took orders and served food and drinks. She was pleasant and attentive. She brought out chips and salsa that were cold and stale. I ordered a sandwich that tasted amazing but for some reason the sandwich fell apart completely. I took it home and ate it piece by piece, Overall, not bad but nothing special.
The service is extremely slow but very friendly. AYCE Snow Crab is the reason we go. Crab is hit or miss in regards to fresh boiled or been sitting under the pass. When it's fresh from the pot it's amazing. Can't beat the price though. Refills took a long time to arrive, including the sides. There were 3 of us eating AYCE and the restaurant only had I shell cracker per table. Kinda frustrating. Bathrooms are sloppy, not necessarily dirty but water all over the men's restroom. Overall, if you want AYCE Snow Crab at a reasonable price this is the place to go.

Everything we ordered was really not good. The crab legs were overcooked and possibly not fresh. Rubbery shell, stringy meat that you couldn’t get out of the legs. The jerk chicken and shrimp tacos were ok at best but not great and basically just a mess of ingredients packed into a tortilla to try and make it have flavor. Service/waiter was excellent though but the venue basically looks like a rundown bar that serves greasy and way overpriced food. We live nearby and wanted to give it a shot. Unfortunately we won’t be going back. No idea how this place stays open and the restaurant next door had to close down which was significantly better. I assume they do well with alcohol sales.
We have eaten here quite a few times. Food was always good. Tonight we went in and found out that they did away with bogo for fajitas. There was a new menu. Some items were removed. They also raised the prices. I ordered the steak fajita. My husband had the chicken fingers basket. His was hot and good. My meal usually came on a sizzling platter. Not tonight. I asked why it wasn’t on the sizzling plate and she said they must have forgotten to do that. Meanwhile another couple ordered fajitas and theirs was on a sizzling plate. There was a lot of oil on the dish. The steak wasn’t tender like it was before. The tortillas were very small. I have never seen tortillas that small. There was only one server. There should have been another server to help her. They were busy and she waited on all the tables by herself. Because of this, service was very slow. We were disappointed with the changes.

My friend and I went there for dinner. We ordered queso dip and crab legs. The queso dip was good. However when the crab legs came out they tasted awful. They appeared to have been frozen, over cooked and possibly re heated. They tasted very dry and old. We did not even finish our 2 orders because they tasted so bad.
Unfortunate. Forever they had a very tasty deal on Wednesdays. BOGO fajitas. We did this very frequently and enjoyed it. It was apparently decided by some new owners that they are no longer doing the fajitas special. As a result this place is dead on Wednesdays now. ( and most nights ). The service is very very very slow and the food is really very basic and average. Prediction : this place will meet same fate as Mothers ( gone! ) who started thinking a 22$ price on a Tito’s martini was fair for the area. Good luck new owners. So many on the Westchase area are purposefully boycotting you now as a result of your Fajita greed.
