My favorite vegan Chinese place. The sweet and sour pork is my favorite. Chow mein is fantastic!

Wonderful spot! Food is always fresh and super tasty. Orange and sesame chicken are the best!! And I’ve never tried such juicy wontons. The owner is very kind and attentive, we always enjoy the conversation with her. She remembers her clients and it makes us feel so special. Free books of wisdom :)) Highly recommend Garden Wok!!

The food here is delicious but even better is the staff. I love that it's just a small family-run vegan restaurant. The food is easy to customize (with gluten-free options) and always comes with complimentary tea when you dine in. Prices are really decent for the amount of food that you get and the dinner special is the best deal (and yummiest variety of food for one sitting). Spicy eggplant with tofu is the best dish, made perfectly every time. Fish and bamboo also excellent. Definitely recommend!!

Traveled from Oxnard and stopped by for something to eat with my cousin, he's vegetarian so here we are, and I'm so glad we are. For those who don't know, Chinese do not use the word vegan to indicate "no meat, 100% vegan", they always use the word vegetarian because that's what it is to not eat meat, so be assured that everything here is vegan. Even though I have allergies to chicken, not to mention a fear of it because of the allergy, I went ahead and tried the mooshoo chicken with my cousin.. Delicious! And so was the rest of what we ate. Appetizers and all.. Definitely coming back. Worth the drive.

This has to be the best vegan Chinese food in LA. I take all my vegan and non vegan friends here and everyone loves it. It's a mom & pop shop that I hope stays open and in business for many years to come. They serve great food and the place feels like visiting relatives. The kind that love to feed you and don't ask too many questions.

Oh boy! Super friendly service, and the food was superb. These are the freshest, most delectable wontons I’ve ever eaten. Yummy fresh buns, fresh veggies in lovely sauce. The Thai iced tea was also especially good. Service wasn’t the fastest until we got to order, but it was SO worth it! This was our first time and we will be coming back - this might be our new favorite vegan Chinese place in LA.

I've been vegan for >2 years now, and my parents are participating in Veganuary this year too! We checked out this place on our way back from LA to Bakersfield on New Year's day. We ordered lamb with snow peas, shrimp with vegetables, orange chicken, and kung pao duck. Everything was flavorful and cooked well. I wish I could find some of these mock meats more readily in the supermarket so I could try to make some of this at home! Will definitely go back if I'm in the area! N.B., they were only open for takeout at the time due to COVID

I had an incredible experience at Garden Work Restaurant! The food was absolutely amazing – every dish was bursting with fresh flavors and beautifully prepared. As a vegetarian, I truly appreciated the variety and creativity in their menu. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, making it the perfect place to enjoy a delicious, plant-based meal. The staff were friendly and attentive, adding to the overall wonderful experience. I can’t wait to come back and try more of their fantastic dishes. Highly recommend to anyone, vegetarian or not!

The friendly and delicious GARDEN WOK is an excellent, family owned, Taiwanese, vegan restaurant. All the "standard" Americanized Chinese dishes are served. When I bring my meat eating friends they are always surprised, "This vegan stuff tastes like regular Chinese." Garden Wok has been voted LA's best vegan, Chinese restaurant, many times. Owner and Chef Hsiueh Chiueh's (aka Sherry) menu includes analogs of fish, chicken, beef, and pork. Both brown and white rice are available. And, of course, a pot of Jasmine or green tea. Our server, Bill, is friendly and knowledgeable. You might begin your meal with Sizzling Rice Soup. It's a warm, delicious broth, containing vegan shrimp or chicken, tofu, carrots, broccoli, seaweed, and, of course, sizzling rice. Soup is served family style (bowl with 5 or 6 serving), or as a large individual serving. Then, add a couple of appetizers. The Chicken Drumette has a crisp crust and a soft,"meaty" center. This unique, specialty is served with a sweet plum dipping sauce and, if requested, spicy Chinese mustard. (Try mixing four parts sweet plum, with one part hot mustard, for a sauce with a gentle warmth.) Bursting with flavor, Cream Cheese Wontons are a flower shaped pleasure. A blend of vegan cream cheese, spinach, minced water chestnuts and white pepper are wrapped in a wonton skin, then deep fried. A flower emerges with opening petals. Pull apart and enjoy. Among their menu selections is Beef or Chicken With Pea Pods. These delicious dishes includes carrots and water chestnuts. A garlic sauce completes the entrees. The off-menu, Mongolian BBQ, a mix of thin, slices of vegan beef and minced veggies, is stir fried, then finished with a brown garlic sauce. It's a sumptuous pleasure. Servings are large. There will be leftovers. What would a Chinese restaurant be without something to take home? You'll be hungry later. STUFF: Prices are moderate. Parking and Wi-Fi are free. There is wheelchair accessible parking, tables, and a gender-neutral bathroom.

Service was fast and the food was so good! It's all vegan the owner assured me. I had the beef and broccoli and hot and sour soup. The price was very reasonable as well. Definitely coming back.

Came here on a whim, and so glad we did! Dear Vegans and Vegetarians, you’ve found your Chinese food spot. We’ve gone a couple times now, and really love the taste and flavors, the service (the owner is a gem), and the vibe is like a blast from the 90s in the best way.

The atmosphere is again fairly drab. Do not expect to be impressed by your surroundings. Overall, however, Garden Wok is worth visiting for the food alone. You will leave satisfied and your wallet won’t be hit too hard thanks to reasonable prices.

Best vegan Chinese food I have had in SoCal! They got American Chinese food style and authentic Chinese style dishes. Highly recommend the orange chicken, it is made of fried mushrooms. Chinese meatballs with spinach tastes very authentic.

Had a fantastic meal here! I ordered the vegan cream cheese wontons and crispy fried tofu as appetizers - both were absolutely delicious. My daughter loved her sweet and sour chicken, and I had the vegetable chow mein with my crispy tofu added in. Everything was so fresh and flavorful. The wontons were a perfect balance of crispy and creamy, the tofu had an excellent texture - I tried to learn how (family secret!), and the vegetable chow mein had good flavor. Highly recommend Garden Wok!

It was the first time I had vegan food prepared like that when I was younger and although I have been to many places that prepare vegan meats now I still love coming back. Their mushroom orange chicken is amazing. I personally don't taste mushrooms and has an amazing crunch. Come try it and you won't regret it.

I have recommended Garden Wok to many friends and of course relatives. Our very favorite restaurant. Going Tuesday with a special friend also my previous boss. Had a fantastic meal here! I ordered the vegan cream cheese wontons and crispy fried tofu as appetizers - both were absolutely delicious. Garden Wok has been on my list for a while and I finally had a chance to sit down and try their food and they did not disappoint. In fact they really impressed me. I've had occasion to try vegetarian versions of dishes at other places that have left me feeling "meh". This was NOT the case with Garden Wok. Every item I tried was delicious and had a great flavor! Their "chicken" drumettes were phenomenal and are a must have when I return. While the rest of their sampler platter didn't blow me away, do not think the spring rolls or wontons were less, they each had a wonderful complexity and taste. The Orange "Chicken" I tried was fantastic as well. I usually dislike having the sauce on the top but here the sauce was fantstic. Not overpowering at all and really complimented the perfectly fried "chicken" to provide a fantastic meal. Whether you are on a vegetarian diet or just want a fantastic meal, Garden Wok has you covered.

She consistently receives the stuffed chicken for sure, and Among several other dishes I can’t remember right now, she’s not even vegetarian and loves this place. Go check it out, people! DO NOT VISIT!! Food was okay. The owner cum waiter was very rude, extremely worst service. She was passing snarky and rude comments. She took away the plates without even asking. She demanded more than deserved tip for the terrible service. Don’t ever go to this place, you will not be able to eat the food in peace even if it’s good.

I had the intention to bring the meal back to them But my time is more important on a Sunday. Quality over quantity is never a priority here.
