Best place to eat in Italy so far! Their typical dish is unbelievably delicious!! The way they prepare and combine their cabbage, pasta, cheese and pepper are from out of this world! Would recommend it for sure, worth most detours.
my sister and i enjoyed a lovely dinner here on our visit to tirano. we bought 2 pasta dishes, the braised beef and a side, each was absolutely delicious and we would be excited to come back if we are here again.

simple, unassuming restaurant one of the best meals we have had so far truly a hidden gem every dish was lovely! we loved the buckwheat pasta, lamb chop, beef fillet, tiramisu and espresso every dish was so good we just ordering price is very reasonable too
Great traditional food, with a lovely atmosphere, A1 service to round the evening together. Highly recommended. Being italian and finding authentic flavors that taste like home cooking is always hard to find. This place definitely delivers.

Wow what a find,the service was spot on and the food was fantastic and the outdoor seating area in the square was peaceful and relaxing. If you are in tirano come here for great food and service. Lovely and helpful staff
We had to try the local traditional dish of PIZZOCCHERI VALTELLINESI , Buckwheat tagliatelle with potatoes, Savoy cabbage. Very good. Service was excellent, we had a lovely table outside in the square. Enjoyed the meal. Great prices too.
Little hidden gem we visited for dinner in Tirano. The menu had a great selection as well as several traditional local Valtinese dishes which I did try and it was vegetarian too! The wine selection was outstanding and the ataff, service and entire dining experience was exceptional.
We, from New Zealand, visited here 2 evenings in a row and enjoyed 2 fabulous different meals with a focus on food typical to this region. Friendly service with explanations of the dishes, plus a taste of local wine. The trattoria is obviously popular with a range of people, local and visitors. We arrived at 7 pm, just as they opened in order to secure a table. I thoroughly recomend this family run ( for past 2 years) trattoria.
We had lunch here today and the waiters were all super friendly and the food came very fast and was delicious. The white house wine was also excellent. A super stop for those waiting for the Bernina Express!
On a pretty piazza in old Tirano, this trattoria served one of the best pork fillets we have ever tasted - each dish was very good (the porchetta with potato and cabbage was also winner) but the pork was amazing! The hardest working maître de EVER kept a sharp eye on the needs of diners as he constantly rushed from the kitchen to the piazza and back all night.
Absolutely phenomenal lunch! We came here after a morning on the Bernina Express. The owners were very welcoming even though we barely spoke Italian. Pasta was phenomenal, and the beef cheek was the most tender meat I’ve ever had. Side bread was a bit stale, but everything else was great.
We had delicious home-cooked dinner here after a long Bernina experience trip. Qualitative and reasonably prized. Note that in Italy tips accepted only in cash

Excellent steak and pasta dishes, I had the Fiorentina steak, I totally recommend it. The attention was also amazing, if you are around Tirano, you have to to stop at Gagin!
We found the restaurant as an advice from TripAdvisor. The menu card is only in Italian, but the waiter was very friendly explaining what options we have. The meat on the hot stone is an absolute recommendation! And if available, the dark polenta also. That was a nice evening and we felt very welcome! Thank you!

Amazing restaurant, We ate there twice during our visit to Tirano. Tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms and amazing lasagne. Also tiramisu was great. Service is impeccable.

I ordered tagliatelle venison ragout and lasagne. I had high expectations after reading other reviews but both were nothing special. The lasagne was also burnt on one side. Restaurant doesn’t offer tap water and sells bottled water instead. It also charges 2 euros for the bread basket with four stale bread in it which wasn’t mentioned upfront. I saw the waiter reusing the baskets from other tables without changing the bread which is very unhygienic. Lastly I ordered a tiramisu and the sponge fingers were hard. I’m not sure if this is another method of making tiramisu but it was quite weird having to hear the crunch everytime I scoop the dessert. Taste-wise, once again nothing special. Service was lukewarm.
