I have been a regular customer of Dinosaur Barbeque for many years and have always been extremely satisfied with the food and service. During my most recent visit I had a draft beer at the bar for which I was charged $11.90 which I think is way too high. Now I know why the bar was mostly empty.

Nice place for brisket with a lot of sides

This restaurant is handicapped friendly with a very easy ramp to walk on, and the seating was easy to get into and walk out of. The staff were incredibly kind to find me a table even though I was a walk in, made me feel like a person. The food was fantastic, I ordered the chicken wings and ribs combo, and the Mac and cheese side was perfect. Next time I hope to bring my family and would recommend anyone check out this local favorite when in Troy, NY.

Originally from Syracuse, NY and now living in Southern California for the past 8 years.. Dino BBQ is a must stop when visiting our family in NY. Their Troy location is one of our favorites with great views of the Hudson River. Whatever you order, you can’t go wrong at Dino!

If you are looking for good food and drinks (diverse menu) around the capital region this is your place. We tried the spicy shrimp and Dino Putine for the appetizer and got the Combo meet as the main course. For drinks I had the tropical sunrise 🍹and I loved it. If you’d rather something stronger like my husband get Dino Margarita :)

Just as good as the Harlem location we know and love, and our server Nia was the best. No salt potatoes unfortunately, but we didn't miss them. Well, maybe a little.

Sitting on the bank of the Hudson River in Troy, this restaurant is a popular family place to eat delicious BBQ dishes! We enjoyed the BBQ pork Bowl with mashed sweet potatoes, collard greens, cornbread, and a tossed salad topped with a deviled egg! The dessert menu was concise but offered decadent choices! Peanut butter pie with chocolate cookie base and silky cheesecake with a caramel drizzle.....both out of this world! Enjoy!

ok First and foremost EMMA was AMAZING!! The knowledge she has on guiding me on the extra charred wings was spot on as I've traveled everywhere and I live food! I've been to Buffalo and all over south. These wings are the BEST EVER! I ordered the 1/2 Family meal with two sides which is always on point! Best ribs ever. Everything here is good. Deviled eggs, fried green tomatoes, beans... everything. I'm a long haul trick driver and get bbq all over the country- Carolinas, KC, Texas... Dinosaur is by far my favorite.

I'm lucky enough to work near the Troy Dino and go there for lunch every week. The prime riverfront location has always been a restaurant of some kind, but the arrival of Dinosaur BBQ was a game changer not just for the food but for the economic boost and legitimization of downtown Troy as a premier walkable city. The Memphis Pork Sandwich has ruined all other pulled pork sandwiches for me. The Mr. Crisp chicken sandwich is the best chicken sandwich in Troy. Both can be occasionally botched by too much sauce, but when they aren't too mushy they are glorious. The fried rice is so good I rarely get any other sides. It is a must try. My office has holiday events there and the spread, service and vibe are always great.

Had the pick 2 platter. Ribs and brisket.....excellent choice. The ribs were delicious and the brisket just melts in your mouth. Service was great. Visiting from Canada and would love to have this restaurant up there.

We love Dinosaur BBQ! This is my 4th? visit to Troy. Always get the wings. Devil’s Duel was very hot, but not over the top. Brisket is amazing. 1/2 chicken was fantastic. Mac n cheese was wicked cheesy 😀 Saranac Root Beer on tap. Just go.

Discovering Dinosaur BBQ in the Capital Region a few years back was a great find. Been here many times and have always enjoyed whatever I have ordered. From the ribs, brisket, chicken to the Cuban sandwich and the sides to match. You cannot go wrong with anything that you order. The ribs are tender and seasoned/smoked perfectly. It's hard to choose your sides because they're all so good, my favorite sweet potato, mac/cheese and cole slaw. This Dinosaur location is conveniently located off (87) and (787) and has some nice outdoor seating with great views of the surrounding area and the Hudson River. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. They also have a nice selection of beer on the tap and specialty drink menu. Plenty of parking. Check their website for events.

Amazing BBQ and sides! Try the 2 or 3 meat combo platter for a great variety. The BBQ fried rice and simmered greens were fantastic. Great location also right on the river. Will be back when I'm in the area.

We’ve been to the Syracuse location and parking is a nightmare, the parking lot here on a busy Sunday was a breeze so very grateful for that. Will definitely come back!

Situated right by the Hudson River, the stunning views enhance the meal. The food is absolutely delicious, especially the brisket, which is perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. Overall, this spot offers a wonderful blend of great food, beautiful scenery, and excellent service. Highly recommended!

Awesome! Finally got to try Dinosaur BBQ. I had previously tried to get in at the Syracuse location for my birthday with friends, however, there were no tables left and more than 2 hour wait on a Friday. This time around, on a Wednesday evening in Troy, I got lucky. I arrived slightly after 5:00 and found parking with no problems, was greeted by a friendly host staff and was seated instantly at a table overlooking the river. The service was excellent and the food was delicious! I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with a side of stewed greens and a side of Harlem potato salad. The pulled pork was perfect, not too dry and drizzled in their house BBQ sauce. The greens were more than flavorful and the potato salad was some of the best I have had. The restaurant had a warm, low-key atmosphere and definitely started to get busy just before 6:00. I would definitely recommend and I know I will be back!

Having heard about Dinosaur Bar B Que for years when visiting a friend in the area we had dinner there. Going in at about 5PM on a Friday evening in April. Most of the bar was full but someone was paying and leaving so we got three bar stools. Our bartender was great. She made us Ranch Waters (muddled lime, tequila, club soda). We ordered a dozen Bar-B-Que chicken wings, six Wango Habanero, six Jerk Glaze. For dinner I had Cuban sandwich (Mojito pulled pork, grilled ham, Swiss, pickles, Weber's Horseradish, Mustard, on a pressed roll) with 2 sides (BBQ beans, Fries) $18.50. I like Cuban sandwiches and this one was delicious. Parking lot didn’t have any open spaces and other cars were driving around the lot waiting for someone to move. While waiting for a car to pull out another car cut in and took the spot we were waiting for. My wife noticed a sign that said “Public Parking” which goes under the bridge to a public parking lot that was mostly empty. Next time we will just go there to park and not even try to park in the Dinosaur parking lot. We didn’t notice that there are a few EV chargers in the public lot until we went back. The next time it would be nice to sit outside on a warm summer day looking at the Hudson River.

I had the cat fish. It was great. Tasted great with fried light coating. Came with 2 sides. I picked the greens and the rice. Both had great flavor. Did not order anything from the bar. So, cant judge the drinks. My wife and granddaughter were both very pleased with there meals. Very busy place. So plan on waiting for a table. Tough to find parking at the time we visited.

Ordered takeout while staying in the area for work. Deviled eggs were phenomenal, the brisket was fork tender, and the jalapeno sausage and sides were delicious. Would definitely recommend this slot to any BBQ lovers!

Late afternoon on a weekday, parking was a little tricky in their lot but successful. My fiancé and I ordered the sweetheart special for two along with the combo for 2 meats and 2 sides. Our waitress was very pleasant and attentive. The place looked clean and it was nice to be able to look out the window onto the river while it rained on their tin roof, it was definitely a cozy vibe for the rainy day. My fiancé was offered a couple samples of beer to help him decide. The amount of food we ordered was more than enough for the two of us. The sweetheart special comes with a full rack of ribs and 3 sides; our intention was to have leftovers! I tried the pulled pork first which is usually my favorite, then onto the brisket which was perfectly seasoned and sauced, lastly onto the ribs which melted in my mouth of they were so good! Some of the meat and sides are heavy on the vinegar so be cautious if you have a sensitivity to that. Our waitress made sure to check on us and bring refills accordingly. Overall, everything was amazing!

So good I had to go back twice during my brief trip! I loved their brisket and pulled pork, and their mac n cheese was pretty good. I wouldn't get their whipped sweet potatoes again, but that's just me! Beautiful views of the river, cozy atmosphere. I want to come back soon!

What to say about Dino? They have the brisket, pulled pork, etc… all decent. HOWEVER, whichever way you go with your main dish order (ribs, beisket, combos, catfish po’boy…even the burger is great), I highly recommend the pork and beans and mac n cheese sides. They are so good! Also, you are gonna add the deviled eggs and some wings (3 or 6 wango is the move) for an appetizer. Thank me later.

To be honest, I am from Texas so, BBQ anywhere else has been disappointing. This was not bad... The smoked chicken, deviled eggs, and the hot wings were some of the best I have ever had. Another surprise was the draft root beer, absolutely amazing. The brisket, pork, and cornbread were good. However, the sides were ok at best with the cole slaw coming in last. Someone was a little heavy handed with the vinegar and forgot the sugar, salt and pepper. As a happy little accident, they brought us ribs with our order instead of the chicken we asked for so, I have a midnight snack to look forward to. The BBQ sauces were good, pretty close to a Texas style sauce. The habenero sauce tasted like habenero but, had zero heat. The regular and garlic sauces were good. Overall, a great night out with good food and beautiful company.

OMG! Some of the best food I have ever had! I had the chicken and ribs, and my daughter had the chicken and pulled pork. The food was sooooo good! I didn't care for the mac n cheese but that's just because I don't like mustard (I can't hold my pickiness against them). The meat was perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked, and the portion size was ideal. I can't wait to go back!

We make it a point to stop at Dinosaur BBQ whenever we’re heading up to Vermont for a ski weekend. The space has such a cool vibe, the food is consistently spot-on, and the fried green tomatoes are hands-down our favorite. A reliable, delicious stop every single time.

The food was absolutely delicious due to spot on seasoning and BBQing techniques. I am curious what type of wood is used to cook the food. The pork belly, exceptionly tender, smoothered in Koren BBQ sauce, was the most amazing I've ever had. The atmosphere was cozy with picnic style tables and a view of the Hudson River. Plus, who can get enough of that cute little dinosaur in the bow tie logo. I can't wait to go back and try another dish.

The food is consistent and delicious. But I want to also speak on the calm and clear professionalism I witnessed at the bar from the bartender and her manager (gentleman who came to the rescue) dealing with a bar guest who was loud, obnoxious and had only been there a very short time. Was handled efficiently and with such grace. 👏 P.s Get the Mac n cheese!

Wonderful food and space! The ambiance and layout of this location is top notch! Even though it was filled with people it wasn't loud. Views through the beautiful building and out the windows were lovely! We love our food so much. Every dish. I wanted to share a review that includes the drink menu and the sauces. Great looking place with awesome food. I'm from Georgia and I always hate how hard it is to find good barbecue in the north, but this is it. The staff was friendly and fast and the food was top notch.

The Mansion at Rebecca's Fountain recommends their catering services for events, or Guest staying at our rental. We are always blown away by the quality of the food. The pulled pork and brisket were tender and flavorful, and the sides were just as delicious. We highly recommend Dinosaur BBQ for any event, or just a casual dinner out with friends and family. The family meals are a great value with very large sides. Be sure to try the Peanut Butter pie!

If I could of given more stars I would have. Emma was our server and what a doll she was! Our first visit to Dinosaur Bar-b-que and we will be back! The creole deviled eggs are a definite need to try. We sampled pulled pork, brisket,ribs and wings and decided on the ribs! We really enjoyed our experience.

Delicious barbecue offerings. The service was excellent. It was a casual place that appeared to be a local favorite. We were just visiting from out of state and it was our first visit. I would definitely go back because it was a winning combination of great food, service and atmosphere, especially if you like ribs and barbecue options.

Dino BBQ simply never misses. This location is beautiful- right on the Hudson river with a huge outdoor seating area. I got the three sliders and they were all delicious. Service was great and the food came out very quick

I've only went twice, but it was great both times. Went with my friends and we had a good time. Good service staff made the visits very welcoming, especially thankful for them allowing to split the bill a for quite a few people. The food is pretty good for the costs. It has a nicr view of the river too. My friend loves the steaks here and always gets it. It looks pretty good.

Ordered a smoked turkey and sides for Thanksgiving (for 12 people) and I was absolutely impressed with everything. One of the most delicious turkey’s I’ve ever had, incredibly juicy and tasty. I will definitely order again next year! Pickup was organized well (with free hot chocolate!) with reheating instructions for everything in the order.

I visited @dinosaur_bbq about a year ago, a time when beef was still new to me and I was just getting accustomed to other meatier meats. Don’t think I could really enjoy it the first time. Since then I’ve fallen in love with the diverse flavors and various meats, and I’ve definitely acquired a taste for it (thank you Jesse hehe) I literally live across from Dinosaur BBQ now and we decided to go on some random Wednesday (which btw, it was PACKED) But I fell in love with everything I ate. I had the combo meal: brisket, pork belly, and pulled pork. It comes with two sides and I chose mashed potatoes with gravy and mac n cheese. I also discovered a new love for baked beans!!! And of course, that cornbread. ugh. delish 🤌🏼🤌🏼 The food was a 10/10, so freakin’ delicious. Vibes are amaze with patio seating or indoor, and the staff are quick and kind. My partner and I had traveled from New Hampshire to RPI to bring our grandchild home for spring break. This was our first visit to Dinosaur BBQ and after our meal it will definitely not be the last. Everything we had was well prepared, perfectly seasoned and totally delicious. I could have made a meal of the deviled eggs alone. Best I have ever had. The perfect meal. Im not that big on BBQ, but the pulled pork sandwich I got was to die for. Mac and cheese was also scrumptious. It was about a 20 minute wait, and it was a bit hard to get the servers attention at times. Additionally, it seemed like even though there was a wait, there were a bunch of empty tables. Perhaps they are just a bit understaffed. Regardless, I think it’s worth the wait.

This time we decided to try it and we are so glad we did. The food is delicious, but the service was outstanding. Our server, Taylor, was one of the best waitresses we have ever had. She did an amazing job. We look forward to coming back next year!

Went back to Dinosaur one last time before heading back to Va. Everything was good to go, BUT, was a bit better the few times. The fried green tomatoes were good but different from last time. The same with the brisket. It didnt have that defined smoke flavor like it normally does. Still good though. The BBQ Fried Rice was a bangin🥰. I wish I have discovered that before now. Ribs and chicken was on point. If I had a complaint it would be the collards. Their flavor was "ok" . The vinegar to sugar flavors kinda clashed. Didnt quite marry, BUT I am really not a collards person. (cabbage) I would still place my same order again.......Oh the cornbread is banging

Yesterday ( Friday night ), my boyfriend and I decided to try this place for the first time. We had reservations and they sat us quickly. We had the option of indoor, or outdoor which was nice. We decided to sit outside, it was a beautiful view! The service was a little slow but still amazing! We went at a very busy time, so not upset about the time we waited. The food was so delicious. We started off with the new southern charcuterie, which was so good! They give you just enough to taste all the goods, but not fill you up before dinner! I then ordered the chicken cheese steak with 2 sides, ( Mac & cheese + chili), and well I took most of that home. But it was all so very delicious, my boyfriend got the brisket tacos.. I was not a fan but he absolutely loved them! I just did not like the charcoal taste.. but to be expected with slow cooked brisket. Drinks were also very yummy. My favorite was the pink & lemonade, then I tried the blueberry lemon drop which was a little too sour for my liking but still good, then I had the donkey punch. If you are looking to have good food , with good service & good atmosphere than I suggest going here. Very wonderful spot ! 😊

Great restaurant! They have it all: great food, good tables, good atmosphere, good decor, nice views, great service! We had a brisket and bacon sandwich, BBQ chicken, fries, fries with gravy (excellent gravy), mac & cheese, and corn bread. Good portion sizes, too. Loved it. We walked from the Best Western hotel across the street. (photo note: the chicken breast is on a side plate bc it came out of the smoker after the other pieces on the plate. The meal came with 2 legs, 2 thighs, and 1 breast, plus 2 sides.)

if you are showing someone troy for the first / only time or are a first time visitor, go here. good view and vibe on the river with excellent food. prices high but in line with current times. cubano was fantastic. indoor and outdoor seating; making a reservation not the worst idea. service slow and inattentive but there were a few large groups and only 3 servers. all in all a good experience and recommended.

Great large restaurant with nice bar and lots of TV's to watch the games. High tops and regular tables in a warm cozy inside. Great welcoming service from all the staff. The BBQ ribs and brisket were super flavorful. Good chili, wings, and poutine! Nice selection of brews and cocktails. Definitely a lot of choices for everyone, so a return trip is a must.

Admittedly, I did not eat, but the person I was with did and his food did look good. The deviled eggs looked amazing. Good bar selection of liquors and beer. Very nice bartenders..1 in particular who has been with them for about 13 years.. Place was crowded and there was a wait. I went for bar seating so no wait for a table. They do have outdoor seating so evenings would be nice outside by the river.

Well rounded consistent bbq spot. Service at the bar was excellent. -Deviled eggs, seasoned well. -1/4 chix thigh, juicy. Great flavor. Rendered skin. -Sausage, slight spice, juicy. -Brisket, tender. if you make sure there’s fat in the bite it’s ok. Without its dry. -Cornbread, served without butter or honey was disappointing. -Mac n cheese, seasoned well, nicely cooked Mac wasn’t mushy. -Potato salad spot on. We decided to go here for dinner on a Saturday evening and it was a 45min wait for our party of 2. We were seated at a nice booth by the back windows overlooking the Hudson River. This is a large bustling restaurant. They were quite busy but our waitress took great care of us. Food took awhile to come out. We ordered the Combo meal with 3 choices ( 2 ribs pork bbq, jalapeno beef brisket, and cold ¼ shrimp boil). We picked mashed potatoes and Cole slaw for the sides. The ribs were really good but the beed brisket we got was half full of fat. The shrimp was good. It was enough food for 2 people. We also ordered the large fried green tomatoes appetizer. The service was good, the riverside location was spectacular. The place was busy, the parking lot was crowded; I had to drive around a bit before a spot opened up. I got the to-go beef brisket and 1/4 chicken plate, with two sides -- mashed potatoes and gravy and coleslaw. The coleslaw was excellent, the rest was okay. I was disappointed in the portion sizes. The chicken thigh-and-leg was surprisingly small. I guess my recent trip to Texas and eating smoked beef brisket there has set the bar too high to really rave about Dinosaur's food. Like I said, it was okay. And, being "okay," it was a little too pricey for me to want to go back.

I was expecting more flavor but left disappointed. The high reviews are definitely deceptive. I ordered the combo meal with 3 meats and 2 sides. The meats included ribs, pulled pork, and brisket. The two sides were mac and cheese and smothered greens. The enjoyed the ribs. They were seasoned and cooked well. Everything else was lacking. The brisket was a bit dry and had no flavor. The pull pork was okay if you smothered it with bbq sauce. The mac and cheese was clumpy and needed some creole seasoning or sumthing. That smothered green was swimming in vinegar. It was harsh to eat. The corn bread was dry. The only saving grace for this place is the friendly staff, water views, and good appetizers. I would recommend the deviled eggs and wings. Everything else....eat with caution.

Food and service was good... except for the fact while eating @ the bar with friends we noticed that the male/female bartender with a winter hat on ,this persons pants was hanging down off the ass ... perhaps maybe a hygiene make over would be appropriate while customers are eating and drinking... can't believe management allows that !!!

So we went on a Tuesday it was very busy around dinner time over an hour away. The drinks were not carbonated the soft drinks. The staff was very busy but courteous. The food took time to come from the kitchen. It was worth the way it was hot, seasoned and flavorful, you would have to ask for condiments for plain burgers for children or fully cooked sandwiches for those who do like bleeding burgers will go again to see what other day of the week atmosphere is like

The food was only okay. If you're a bbq fan, stay away, but come in for the fried food and other offerings. Steak was overcooked, but the seasoned butter on top was delicious. Steak wasn't bad overcooked, but it wasn't anything amazing. My brisket was very dry, not cooked low and slow. Should pull apart with no effort, but it definitely required me ripping it apart. Wasn't shoe leather, but definitely not something I want again. The Mac was Okay. The Veggies were tasty. Cornbread was the only thing I refused to eat. The View of the river and the draw bridge is absolutely gorgeous and the staff was very friendly.

Stumbling into Harlem with friends at 7 PM, this American BBQ place really didn't live up to my expectations. Prime Brisket: A popular recommendation. The meat was grilled until very tender, but not very juicy. All the grilled meats were extremely salty, only slightly alleviated by the Original dipping sauce. The sauce was primarily tomato-based, but lighter and more tangy than regular tomato sauce, with a hint of spiciness and smokiness. Pork Belly: It was served with crunchy pickles, adding more flavor and texture, and helping to cut through the oiliness. St. Louis Rib: Extra $2 for adding to a combo set meal. The ribs were bone-in but grilled until almost falling off the bone; the layer of fat clinging to the bone was satisfying--truly the most perfect part. Pulled Pork: Personally, I think this was the best dish. The pork was grilled until tender and flavorful without being overly salty. Shredded and mixed with the Original sauce, the texture became moist, and the flavor was even fresher. Syracuse Style Salt Potatoes: Simply seasoned with salt, butter, and a touch of chopped herbs--super fragrant. Potatoes can't be bad. Side Salad: I chose a red wine vinaigrette to dress the herbs; there was probably no more whiter dish in the world. As "Uncle Roger" said, white food tastes like sad. Fresh Squeezed Lemonade Strawberry: It was quite sour for most people, but I really liked it~ The water here was a bit unpleasant to drink, with a noticeable chlorine taste, so you might want to order a beverage instead.

Highly overrated barbecue restaurant. This restaurant was really hyped to me so I wanted to try it. One day I decided to take my wife there and try and it was the worst bbq I have ever had. We had the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer to start. The green tomatoes were lightly bread which was fine but the tomatoes were not fried long enough and I could tell the tomatoes were not ripe. For the entree I got the three meat platter with pulled pork, 1/4 chicken and brisket all of which was smothered in the house made bbq and taking away from the smokey bbq flavor that the meat should have. The mac and cheese had Cajun seasoning like everything else and way too much of it. I have had a lot of bbq in my time and this place had none of the good qualities like other places did. Unfortunately I do not recommend this place and think it is a big tourist trap. Upstate NY does not have good bbq.

This food is extremely disgusting. The macaroni and cheese taste like glue and the collard greens are overly seasoned with the wrong ingredients. The cornbread isn't moist enough. The thing that was decent was the catfish and the ice tea. This is coming from somebody who grew up eating real soul food. Try again. Oh and the waitress was lovely.

We visited Dinosaur after a recommendation from a friend. We stopped our way back to the Albany airport and had incredibly high hopes based on the reviews. What we found was very lacking. We started with a 45 minute wait on a Sunday afternoon at 2:30. Whatever - we had time. It smelled good and the takeaway counter was busy. The vibe is a little confusing but I don’t usually go for vibes- I go for service and food quality. Both of these fell short. For the record, our drink order was placed about 10 minutes after we were seated. Our food order about 10 minutes after that. From the time we sat down until we walked out it was 1:43 of table time (I’m utilizing text message time stamps to confirm this, I didn’t time the restaurant). It took nearly an hour for food to arrive after being ordered. Again- we had the time, but I was beginning to sweat it a little because we had a flight to catch. I personally ordered the Tres Niños as it seemed like the best way to have a sample of their major menu items. For the record, there is sauce on the table- so when the pulled pork and brisket came out sauced I was caught off guard. Despite the sauce, both items were very dry and didn’t have a ton of flavor. They were just, bland. Also, as someone who can be very particular about sauce, I didn’t love what they were doused in. The ribs were a little better flavor wise but they were VERY tough and there wasn’t a pull from the bone experience. Both of my side dishes were cold as if they were plated when the order came in. I was kind of defeated and at this point just wanted to know where the bill was. That took about 10 minutes to show up after being asked for. In total we saw our waiter 4 times - none of which included drink refills. Disclaimer over my disappointment: We are a family that has experienced incredible barbecue from all over the South/Southeast. Our expectations are very high. I typically taper expectations in the Northeast and Midwest for barbecue but this place was hyped up to the max. Overall- the cost, the food, the service- none of it met the expectations we had based on the information we were given.

I don’t ever leave reviews, but I felt it necessary to warn others. This place just flat out sucks. First - The Food: Zero flavor and dry as hell. Mac and cheese sauce is gritty, noodles are undercooked. Beans had chunks of fat in them. Brisket so dry it might as well have been beef jerky. I’ve had better pulled pork from a crockpot. Wings so over charred they were basically charcoal briquettes. Not to mention, what self respecting BBQ joint serves their meat with sauce on it!? Trying to hide their inferior smoking methods. Second- the service: A 45 minute wait for a table of 4 at 2pm on a Sunday. Ok fine. Got sat and then took 15 minutes for our creepy server to come over and then another 15 minutes for us to get our drinks delivered and order our food. Food took almost an hour to come out. Never got refills on our drinks, never asked about apps or deserts, wasn’t offered a box to take anything home (not that I would have anyway). The only good service we received was the girl working the hostess stand. She was friendly and attentive. Third- the place itself: Gross and dirty. Literally mouse traps under the benches in the waiting area. Floors and tables sticky. Finally - Food safety is obviously not a concern at this restaurant, because I am currently writing this review from the porcelain throne as something I ate here has given me food poisoning. You could not pay me to eat here ever again and thank god I don’t live anywhere near this dumpster fire. I am actually amazed that this place has as high of a rating as it does and over 5k reviews. Like, do people in Troy, NY just not have standards or tastebuds? Bottom line: Avoid at all costs

I had an extremely disappointing experience at Dinosaur BBQ in Troy on Valentine’s Day. First, it took over 15 minutes for our waiter to even acknowledge us and ask if we wanted something to drink. That’s a long time to sit there without so much as a greeting, especially on a special occasion. When the waiter finally came over, she asked for my ID. I’m 30 years old and very clearly look my age. I didn’t have my physical ID on me, but I did have a clear photo of it on my phone, which has worked at other establishments in the past. She refused to accept it, which I understand may be policy — but the way it was handled felt unnecessarily rigid and unfriendly. To avoid letting it ruin the evening, my partner ordered a drink, and I took a few sips from her. Shortly after, a manager approached me and said he had been watching from across the room and saw me drink. The interaction felt confrontational and uncomfortable. Instead of handling the situation calmly, he immediately framed it as though I was jeopardizing his liquor license, which felt excessive given the circumstances. The tone was accusatory rather than professional. At that point, the experience had become so unpleasant that we decided to leave altogether. The atmosphere felt chaotic, the tables and surrounding areas were not very clean, and the music was overpowering and distracting rather than enjoyable. Overall, what should have been a nice Valentine’s dinner turned into a frustrating and uncomfortable experience. I understand policies are policies, but customer service and how you treat people matters just as much. Unfortunately, this visit left a very bad impression.
