The Buckshot Burger was OUTSTANDING. Two Wagyu patties topped with onion rings, bacon, and BBQ sauce. This place had a lot of activity on a Monday night. Seems like a very good place to hang out and watch a game. Lots of options on the menu. Good service. Walkable distance from most major hotels in Troy.

The Hungry Road

In town on business and did some Yelping to see what was good in the area. I checked out this place and their menu then made the decision. Here's how it went... Atmosphere/Appearance: Right off of a city street is this gem. It's got a good mixture of a dive bar and a decent pub. They were in the middle or doing some renovations so I'm excited to see what the new interior looks like when they're all done! For now there's lots of darker woods all over along with a decent bar rail right near the front entrance. Along the back wall is a very long bench seat paired with tables that you can push together to form one long one. It's a college town so it was a bit loud inside, but you kind-of expect that from these types of bars. Service: Katie took great care of us. She was so friendly, charismatic, funny and just overall brought an extra level of joy to our dining experience. Food: I saw wings on the menu so l went for it. They had a list of flavors with some interesting names. I went with the "Brother Rob Hot" which is supposed to be some super hot sauce, but it wasn't. It had a good amount of eat and great flavor, but it's nothing to be afraid of. Another flavor I got was the Buffalo Garlic Parmesan. It was delicious and my preferred sauce over the others. Next up was Medium. Medium was medium. I also got the chance to try their Honey BBQ which was a great deep, tangy flavor with natural-tasting sweetness. Last, but not least was the "Sauce of the Day" a sweet, tangy, honey-based selection. It was okay, but quite different. The wings were also big, juicy and not fried so much to where they were burnt. Their house-made bleu cheese was fantastic and went perfectly with the spiciness of the wings. Value: 20 big juicy wings with bleu cheese, celery and carrots will run you $28.00. Given the size of them and that I can get more than 1 FULL MEAL out of them makes them worth it for sure. I'd totally come back here specifically for the wings. It's a nice chill place to hang out with your friends or coworkers to get a beer, some food and take a load off for the day.

This was my first visit. Loved it! After business hours you can park in the lot across the street. Very convenient. Not really a dive or ruin pub, but really good local pub.

Saturday lunch date. New place for me. Parking may be an issue on busy days but otherwise a gem of Troy. Lovely dark wood, friendly, and cool vibe here. Staff is amazing . Food delicious. Had the legend chicken sandwich, my friend had the mushroom Swiss burger. All was cooked perfectly. Loved the bacon jam on the chicken sandwich. Come here and get treated well. 30+ beers on tap. Awesome time. Would definitely come back.

Been on the list of places to visit. Glad we did. Friendly bar staff. Outstanding food. We had the wings to start. Delicious!! My wife had the Train Wreck. She kept commenting on how tender the roast beef was. She loved it. I had the wings burger. Pretty damn tasty. The only thing I would change is the fries. They were good. But we've definitely had better. So will we go back? Absolutely.

What a great place! Staff is awesome! Food is great! And...the atmosphere is so chill! They make awesome drinks, too, and always have awesome beer and cider on tap!

We always hit the Ruck after The Palace or The Egg, or Proctors. Kitchen open til midnight, or 5 of... Not as fancy a meal as a few years ago, but we had a great burger, fancy fried chicken sandwich and a little Jamo. All good all around. Lots of great beer on rap, look up to see past handles.

We, a party of 5, arrived on a Saturday afternoon around 4:45. The back area tables were full, and the music was on. We decided to sit up front near the door where we would be able to converse and eat. Our server came right over and was very friendly and helpful. Knowing that they have quite a draft selection, we asked questions and were offered samples to make appropriate choices. We put in an order of the "wasted white man" tater tots while we waited. Our server came back with our samples and 4 or us ordered pints. As our tater tots were delivered, so were our pints. The tots were hot and delightful sinful. Covered with beer cheese, bacon and ranch dressing (not something you can order more than 1x/week) our pints were the perfect temp. We went and ordered 8 buffalo garlic parm, 8 garlic parm wings, an order of pierogies with homemade french onion dip, and a bacon gouda cheeseburger Everything came out timely and perfect temp. The burger was huge and very flavorful. Wings were big and satisfying-although the buffalo sauce was a tinge spicier than expected. The pierogies were a bit dry and hard, but the dip helped. By the time 6pm rolled around, more people were beginning to roll in, and the music was pumped up 5 notches, no joke, and we were thankful to be done. We got our bill and paid without problem. We loved seeing the Bills themed decor, as our friends were visiting from Rochester. We will be back but will prob arrive earlier in order to sample more beers and be able to converse with each other.

I’m really disappointed in The Ruck tonight. I’m a regular customer, and when I dine in, my food is always made exactly how I ask. Tonight was the complete opposite. The chicken tasted like it had been boiled—definitely not fried hard the way I requested—and it was honestly disgusting. I wasn’t asking for a refund. I would’ve been fine with a remake or even a discount for my next order. Instead, the person on the phone told me the manager said nothing could be done. That’s surprising, especially for a regular customer who rarely complains. And this isn’t even the first time my order has come out this way. On top of that, the food was so soggy that I couldn’t eat it at all. I actually had to go somewhere else and order dinner just so I could get food made the way I asked. That shouldn’t happen—ever. Any other place would fix the mistake without hesitation. If something isn’t done right, it should be corrected. The way this was handled was unacceptable. All I can really say is: do better.

We just went to The Ruck last night for dinner. The wings were not up to their usual standard (granted it was wing night), and a very uncomfortable situation with an employee brought the evening down even further. He approached the table to confirm if we needed anything before bringing out the check, at which time my father remarked that he liked the suicide prevention message on the employee’s shirt. The employee proceeded to scream profanity at my father, and came back again 30 seconds later to yell at him some more. It was extremely unprofessional, and continues to unsettle me a day after the incident. We are very displeased with the experience.

Wings soggy, food is overpriced and super greasy. Have to pass next time we are out for a bite and drink in favor of Nighthawks which is better quality and priced. Won't be back

Have made prior reservations for a party of 10 for a bills game before and had no issue. So we reserved a table for the same amount of people for another bills game since we had so much fun the 1st time. The 2nd time they wouldnt honor the reservation! The party of 10 showed up (which had a disabled 80 year old woman in the party) and we were told "sorry we dont do reservations for Sunday bills games" and I said that's impossible because we were here 2 weeks ago with a reservation. Then we were told by another bartender, oh sorry our POS system is down and we couldn't see the reservation. We showed proof we had received an email confirmation that it was in fact reserved and they still wouldnt honor it. Every seat in the bar was taken and had no where for our disabled 80 year woman to sit. Then another staff member tried to offer the shuffleboard as a table, where our backs would be against the TVs and its in the walkway to the bathroom so seats couldn't even really fit there comfortably anyway! Won't be returning here for a bills game
