Excellent restaurant in every way from the service, the entertainment, to the delicious food everything was unbelievable. I had such a great time that I returned several times just to either eat the food or drink the delicious Mezcal. I highly encourage you to try this place when you are in town. Excelente experiencia gastronomica. Para abrir la experiencia hicimos una degustacion de mezcal, agua miel y posh de cacao Kmuami nos recomiemdo una entrada de guacamole + tacos de la casa. Plato primcipal pata de cerdo + una ranchera + queso fundido. Todo 10 puntos, eramos 4 personas y nos encantó

Fantastic bartender – really knows how to craft great cocktails. I tried drinks all over Tulum, and this was definitely one of the best experiences. The staff are really friendly and even offer karaoke experiences. Good laugh. Highly recommend it.

It was a great experience, the best meal of this trip, the grilled Tuétano is perfect, the Aguachile Oysters, could not be better, and the grilled fish of the day, it was perfect. It’s not in a privileged location, but I repeat its food is the best I ate in Tulum in four nights.

We visited this place twice during our stay in Tulum. It was pretty close to our hotel, so we decided to give it a try. We tried a lot of different fire-grilled dishes and all of them were delicious. They also have a nice selection of oysters. The staff were super kind and professional. The atmosphere is great and they had Cuban-inspired live music on Saturday, which was a treat. I’m a bit surprised they don’t have more guests every night, as it’s a really cool spot. A bit on the pricey side though.

Found it by looking for a place that serves fire roasted octopus. It did not fail us. Grilled to perfection. My wife has the fish tacos. Again outstanding. The decor.was awesome. They continually went through with smoking Copal which was relaxing. It’s on the main road so easy access. Service was wonderful.

Admittedly we were skeptical at first of this location but after three recommendations and a first glance of the beautiful setting, we were so glad we ate at Escama. Vibe is modern but totally Tulum. Edgar was our server and you couldn’t ask for more enjoyable service with constant spot on recommendations. Our party of 4 got the bone marrow (decadently savory); shrimp tacos (melted in your mouth with a little bite); pork shank (very generous); grilled chicken (tender and succulent). Wine selection was nice and better than most but a little pricey. But the service was everything you might want when visiting a spot like Tulum. Add Escama to your list of things to do.

Hands down the best meal we’ve had in Tulum. Unbelievably fresh seafood, unique preparation, and exceptional service. The whole grilled fish and lobster were perfect, green ceviche with apples was a great spin on a classic, and even the green side salad was refreshing and unique. Not to mention the top notch cocktail program and wine cave. Would put this at the top of your list!

We’ve been here twice now. First tine for dinner and the second time for lunch. It was a great foodie experience. We really enjoyed the tacos, bone marrow, facile and the meat. Second time we were here apparently the chef (chef Jesus) himself made our food. We learned that after we pointed out that the food was even better the second time. Overall, we had a great experience and the food was so good they we had to come back. The only complaint I really have is that during dinner, the music was a bit loud.

You get what you pay for. Great experience at Escama. Very laid back, but lively atmosphere. We enjoyed two drinks (one each), the wood fired bone marrow tacos (super delicious), and two pan de muertes (also very delicious). They have a real wood fire that emits a beautiful aroma across the outdoor seating area of the restaurant. Had groovy, chill house which adds to the silky smooth ambiance of moody lighting. Overall was a very pleasant evening experience and would definitely come back again!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Escama Restaurant in Tulum and it was a truly unforgettable experience. The restaurant is located on the beach and offers breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed, perfect for a romantic dinner or a special occasion. The menu features a wide variety of seafood and traditional Mexican dishes, all made with the freshest and high-quality ingredients. I started with the chips and guacamole and it was incredibly fresh. For the main course, I had the rib-eye tacos along with the grilled fish tacos which were cooked to perfection, tender and flavorful. The service was excellent, attentive but not intrusive, and the staff was very knowledgeable about the menu and the ingredients. I highly recommend Escama Restaurant to anyone visiting Tulum looking for a unique dining experience with great food and service.

What can I say!? Everything from the ambience, the service and the food!!! Oh wait, I can’t forget the cocktails! My friend and I came for the Yucatán ceviche, the guacamole w/ crispy pork belly and the shrimp soup twice in less than 24 hours. If you’re coming to Tulum looking for a place to eat and vibe… this it!! They have indoor and outdoor seating. Ohhhh and they have HOOKAH! I’d definitely recommend! 10/10!!

Honestly, the #1 outdoor bar that I would recommend in Tulum. The staff is amazing all around, including Aranza at the “door”. We honestly were not going to stop here after having a long day in the sun and she reeled us in with a great smile and welcome demeanor. Christian was our bartender and was AMAZING! Super talented and very passionate about mixology. We had to come back for a second time during our visit because it was so good. ALSO, they have a wine room named Cardamomo that is temperature controlled with an exceptional selection. If you get a chance, stop for a drink here at the very least!

Visited Escama in Tulum, Mexico and here is my intake Place looks nice and well designed for a bar/restaurant, with outdoor open seating. Hospitality: I was greeted at the door , waiter was super nice and friendly. Recommended few items on the menu and drinks. Good job and keep up the good work. Food: Ordered the guacamole appetizer because I love the freshness of Guacamole in Mexico. Came in a oversized bowl which kinda threw me off a little bit. It could be done a smaller one , not sure the purpose behind it. Tuna Tostadas were OK, I've had better for less price. Presentation was beautiful. Tuna tasted plain. Tostada was not fresh and crispy like it supposed to be. Dessert: work on bringing in some local desserts not just American. I ordered the Carrot cake, the icing is plain and too buttery. Ambience, was boring for me although it was 5pm. A place like that should have better music. I would expect a ready open restaurant with that style. Cons: Bring Off or mosquito repellent, I had to move on the inside glass room. Restaurant has limited parking, so better come in Taxi or walking distance if you are staying by close.

The food and the waiter were amazing. The venue and music were great. The only reason for 4 stars was that the washrooms were terrible... When paying 1000+ pesos a person you would expect the toilet not to leak when flushed (center stall is the only usable one)... The food: The octopus and steak pasta are must trys. The marrow bone is delicious, as is the fried squid. The squid comes with a delicious tzatziki sauce. If you like spice ask for the spicy salsa on the side our waiter recommended it and it really elevated the octopus. The drinks are pretty good (7/10). I would recommend passion fruit over the guava. The service: The waiter was the only one working and was serving a number of tables but he was attentive and friendly. Definitely visit this place for the food but pee before arriving!

Fuimos a cenar, el lugar está lindo, la hostess nos ofreció distintas opciones en sus dos áreas para sentarnos, elegimos afuera y está muy cómodo, recibimos muy buena atención por parte del personal en asesorarnos para nuestra elección de cena. Al momento de pedir nos comentaron que solo había un postre, pero lo entendimos ya que por el clima hay poca gente en Tulum; tardaron un poco nuestros alimentos para ser ensaladas pero estaban muy ricos, al inicio de mi ensalada había un cilantro (pero bueno quizá pensé que podia estar ahí por ser mix de verdes) pero llegando a la tercera parte encontré un pedazo de chile, lo cual notifiqué a quien nos atendió y se disculpo por le inconveniente, después se acercó para ofrecernos un cóctel gratis en alguno de sus otros establecimientos lo cual fue atento y cordial pero al final ya no me quedaron ganas de seguir comiendo.

The live music was good. We went there only for drinks and hookah. The wait for service is questionable, could be faster. The server was nice, the drinks are good and the hookah as well. We atmosphere is great.

Servicio muy leeeento, precio/beneficio está muy caro y las porciones muy pequeñas, No vale La pena. Te obligan a dar mínimo el 20% de propina, eso también está mal.

El lugar es muy bonito y bien decorado. Pero las porciones son chicas, mi marido ordenó la arrachera que en la carta decía claramente 300 gr, no eran ni 200 gr en realidad. Y los precios elevados. Lo peor de todo fue la pésima atención. En primer lugar, no nos brindaron ningún tipo de entrada mientras esperábamos los platos, ya que es un restaurante y no cuesta nada al fin de hacer más corta la espera. En segundo lugar, empezaron a esparcir por todo el ambiente una especie de madera quemada que echaba muchísimo humo, lo cual fue muy molesto (ya que tenía un olor muy desagradable) y de mal gusto, no tuvieron en cuenta preguntarnos si eso nos molestaba, solo.nos dijeron q era para espantar los mosquitos. Una falta de respeto total hacia el cliente. El olor a quemado quedó impregnado en mi ropa y en mi pelo. Y tercero, lo peor de todo, al retirarnos, se acercó el mozo q nos había atendido, diciéndonos que la propina q habíamos dejado NO LE ALCANZABA. Siendo q a pesar de la mala experiencia dejamos propina. Un descaro increíble. Falta de respeto y de educación. PESIMO TRATO. Espero que esto les sirva para cambiar estás cosas, ya que cuando uno es turista espera ser bien atendido.

El lugar era muy prometedor, llegamos y para ser sólo dos mesas el servicio fue muy lento, después de la larga espera llegaron nuestros ceviches, muy mal preparados y en mal estado, no estaban preparados como lo indicaba en el menú, al preguntarle al gerente nos comentó que la cocinera era nueva, pero eso no tiene que ver que los ingredientes nos estén frescos. Al final sólo nos descontaron un ceviche, pérdida de tiempo, no lo recomiendo. Espero que esta reseña los ayude a mejorar.
