Quetzal Bar

This charming bar and restaurant not only captured our palates but our hearts as well. Elliot and Andrea serve up some of the best cocktails I have had in all my travels and they do with such love and enthusiasm that this has now become our favourite go to spot in Tulúm. The Macaroni and Cheese dish is one of my favourites… deliciously creamy and flavourful but honestly, you can’t go wrong with any of the selections from the uniquely imaginative and creative menu. Quetzal is a real gem with great vibes; do not miss it!!!

If you get to spend a hour or like us, multiple hours on multiple days, you are very very lucky. The pedigree of the owners is really insane (see my pics below) and it shows, but in such an unpretentious, cozy cool little food/drink laboratory kind of way. They are just straight up the nicest people and the food is cheap and fantastic Mexican pub style to soak up their world class cocktails. Happy hour is from 5-8 at 100 pesos! 100 pesos for the best dirty martini I’ve had outside of maybe London/Vancouver at the top bars for 4 x the price?? Shut the front door. To get to watch a couple that is so passionate about working together and about the products they deliver to their patrons, honestly it felt so lucky. It will be a regular haunt on what will be annual pilgrimages to Tulum.

This was the best bar we found in our entire time in Tulum. Elliot was so helpful and welcoming we wish we had found it sooner. It’s a must if you’re in the area for some drinks and some food. It was really good value for money and you can really tell the entire drinks and food menu has been put together with love and care

An incredible place to grab a thoughtful, inventive cocktails and a bite to ear. The drinks are all interesting, unique but very approachable. I ended up drinking the full specialty menu by the end of my trip and they were all tasty and as described. Off menu classic drinks were also wonderful. They had a specialty red velvet negroni special on, which was exceptional. The food was also great and very reasonably priced. Honestly can’t say a bad thing about Quetzal. The owners and staff were all very welcoming and helpful. They have a depth of experience and high standards for their product. You can tell they care, have fresh, seasonal, and local ingredients. Everything you could want as a customer. Service was at a high standard. Can’t wait to come back and hopefully they’ll have a deserved Bib Gourmand recommendation too!

What a fabulous restaurant/bar. The food is outstanding, all fresh and made on the day, tasty and creative menu. The drinks are on another level, both alcoholic and non alcoholic. I was in Tulum for a week and a local friend recommended Quetzal. We ended up here 5 or 6 times for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Lastly, the owner and staff are great and speak English also. Definitely a hidden gem. Don't miss this when your in Tulum or near.

My wife and I really enjoyed Quetzal. Its a little hole in the wall but it offers a unique experience. The food and drinks were amazing and very unique. Definitely recommend anyone to try especially if you like trying creative drinks. The staff is amazing and the atmosphere is really chill. They have cute table games to playwhile you enjoy your drinks and cute merch!! We will definitely come back

This place is just amazing. The cocktails are so delicious. The owner know how to pimp the classic cocktail. I'm a fan of espresso Martini but his drink is the Best drink i have ever drink in my life honestly! Wow! And you have to try the signature cocktail el meringues! It taste like lemon pie! This place is a legit hidden gem in Tulum. Hidden because you might miss it when walking by, as it’s behind a row of 7-8 ft trees. We went here 3 times in 3 days because we liked it so much. The staff treat you like family, the happy hour deal is unbeatable, and the food is awesome. The chile relleno torta was 10x better for 10x less price than the meal we had at an upscale beachside restaurant. Definitely spending more time at Quetzal next time we’re in Tulum!

Incredible in so many levels! We had 2 signature Negronis that were fantastically crafted and served. To begin with, we had the delicious and tasty fries with a unique home made ketchup and mustard. Later we learned that all the dressings, pickles, garnish and sauces were made from scratch by the owners, so you could feel the love at every bite. My wife had the flank steak tacos and she said it was incredible. I tried the stuffed chile torta, which truly blew my mind! It tasted like a mothers hug at every bite, I was enjoying it so much i didn’t want it to finish it! Congratulations to the team, specially to Andrea, the talent behind the amazing food and to her husband, who was the greatest host.

This place was one of the highlights of our time in Tulum. Elliott is a mixologist extraordinaire and his cocktails are genuinely some of the best I’ve ever had. Andrea and family make the tastiest Mexican comfort food, which was so delicious we had to come back a second night. What a pleasure it was to experience the gifts of Elliott and Andrea who are so welcoming and clearly at the top of their game. Do yourselves a favour and just go.

If you’re anywhere near Quetzal, do yourself a favor and GO. From the moment you walk in, the staff makes you feel genuinely welcomed — warm, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable. The service is beyond. Every recommendation felt thoughtful, every interaction sincere. You can tell they truly care about the experience they’re creating. The cocktails? Carefully crafted perfection. We went back multiple times during our trip (which says everything), and each visit was just as consistent, delicious, and memorable as the first. Not a single drink missed. The Bengi Bongo with mezcal was absolutely phenomenal — smoky, balanced, layered, and dangerously easy to sip. And La Jaula quickly became another favorite — complex, refreshing, and beautifully presented. You can taste the intention behind every ingredient. My partner and I genuinely loved everything about this place. It became one of the highlights of our trip, and we’re already looking forward to coming back. Quetzal isn’t just a bar — it’s an experience.

Hubby and I spent 2 weeks checking out all the local (and touristy) haunts around Tulum. We enjoyed our time at the beach, but our favorite bar/restaurant is hands down Quetzal! It is owned and operated by the sweetest couple who have done a tremendous job creating a welcoming, local bar with meaningful food, ambiance, and the best service in all of Tulum! Prices are on point, and the cocktail selection is plentiful. Go check them out, we cannot wait to return to Tulum, and more importantly, to see our new friends at Quetzal!
