I like Asian food, this has a combination of sushi and Thai all in one restaurant. Sushi is made toborser and fresh as can be yet my reason for going is the Customer service, friendly atmosphere with a cozy feeling. Food was delicious and many options on menu plus mochi ice cream!
This is a great little neighborhood restaurant. There were some regulars who knew the staff, it feels very homey. I like that they have a choice between Thai food and sushi. We got the Kamikaze, Kitajima and Crunchy Rolls. Service was excellent and our food was delicious!
I recently dined at Kitajima Sushi & Thai, and it was a delightful experience. The ambiance was welcoming, with a cozy and modern decor that set the perfect mood for a relaxing meal. The sushi was outstanding, with fresh ingredients and beautifully presented dishes. The sashimi was melt-in-your-mouth good, and the variety of rolls offered a great mix of flavors and textures. I particularly enjoyed the chef's special rolls, which were both creative and delicious. Service was attentive and friendly, with staff eager to provide recommendations and ensure a pleasant dining experience. The prices were reasonable given the quality of food and service. Overall, Kitajima Sushi & Thai is a fantastic spot for anyone craving excellent sushi and authentic Thai cuisine. I highly recommend it to sushi enthusiasts and Thai food lovers alike.
This place is hands down AWESOME! The sushi is so delicious, we had the Bangkok, Salmon Lemon, Dragon, Kitajima, Philladelfia and the Alaska roll, all ingredients tasted so fresh. My hubby I are oversized and was very surprised that their sitting was very accommodating for peeps our size and very comfortable. The atmosphere is very chill with dim lighting and quite and the staff are very polite and attentive. We will definitely be coming back to this awesome place.
Great Sushi spot, will have to be back to try the Thai. Sushi was very fresh and tasty, the Bangcok Roll was one of the highlights of my visit. The environment is super chill and the staff are very respectful and attentive. Highly recommend this for a relaxing sushi food coma. The prices are worth it.
Have eaten here frequently in the last few months and have tried both the sushi and Thai food. Both are really delicious . I highly recommend the restaurant. They have a lot of weekly regulars, which is a great induction that they're food and service do not disappoint.
The ingredients are fresh. The menu offers a good variety of Japanese and Thai dishes.
This is a great choice for sushi. Photo shows a more than ample portion for the price. Definitely recommend this place.

First time! Great customer service! Food was amazing!
The sushi quality is great and the staff is awesome. Very friendly and welcoming. I also love the other menu options they have, like Thai food. So yummy!
Came here on a cold and rainy night. I've never been to a combination Sushi AND Thai restaurant however we took a chance, calling ahead to make a reservation. What great food!!! We ordered and devoured their sweet, sour, hot and spicy seafood soup along with fresh Sashimi and Pad See Ew with Beef. Totally satisfied and happy, the meal overall was a very good value. We will be back :)
Great quality sushi. They have the paradise roll. It is rolled cucumber with sushi wrapped inside. They also have amazing Japanese scallop sushi. It is a nice family restaurant. It is a Sushi / Thai food. They have great beef bowls for those who don’t like sushi.
Always consistent. Best Thai in Tustin. Always get the pad see ew with pickled jalapeños. My son loves the CA & spicy tuna rolls. Mango with sticky rice is a real treat when available. Friendly service, the server, John, is THE BEST! Love this place!!!
We love Kitajimas, the sushi is exquisite. We visit very often and bring friends that don’t eat sushi but love Thai food. It’s a very friendly and respectful place. Best Sushi and Thai food in Tustin💖
Holy yum! Best sushi in Irvine!! Since the hubs and I found this place, we are now officially addicted and with their awesome happy hour along with fresh sushi, we come at least once a week!! Soooo good!
Came here for my birthday! Chef Rudy hooked it up entertained us the entire stay and introduced my sceptical husband to sashimi which he loved! Everything Rudy served us was delicious. Staff was also very nice and attentive.
You can't really beat this place! They have great service, sushi quality is the best around and overall price makes it affordable. Wicha, Rudy, and Super T are legit come check them out in action, you won't be disappointed. -the BMW guy
This place rocks! Don't let the looks from the outside fool you. Great food, great value... especially during happy hour. Check out the FA roll. Beers cheaper than at Costco! Cheers!
My family has been going to Kitajima's for at least 8 years since the late Mr Kitajima and Angie were owners and since the change of ownership. It is by far the best sushi bar when including, food, price, and people! I often try other sushi restaurants when I travel out of state and out of country, however, I have been spoiled by Kitajima's, and so far, nothing else compares. Most other restaurants are too expensive, too impersonal, or just not that good.
Great service. Sashimi is as fresh as any other Japanese Sushi spot. The Thai food is good and flavorful. My only gripe is the use of canned mushrooms vs fresh mushrooms in their yummy Tom Yum and Tom Kha Gai soups. People who are hesitant because both Thai and Japanese food is offered should not worry. Both cuisine is well executed. The Japanese have a long history in Thailand. In fact behind, LA, NY, and Shanghai, Bankok has the 4th largest Japanese population outside of Japan.
i am overdue for a review for kitajima! my coworkers and i LOVE coming to kitajima for all the right reasons: 1) lunch special: starting at $8.99 you get to build your own combo. my go to is the california roll and teriyaki salmon, which comes with a bowl of rice, salad, and miso soup. hands down kitajima has THE BEST cali rolls! 2) service: angie is usually our server. she's the most energetic, down to earth, and sweetest person EVER! such great energy and we love visiting because of her awesome service. there, 2 awesome reasons that keeps us coming back to kitajima. i've tried the chirashi and was pretty good, but just average. overall the sushi quality is very fresh and a great spot for lunch!
The layout of the resturant is better than most, but the food there is the some of the best food I have ever had in my life. The sushi rolls there are to die for. I highly recommend this resturant.
Awesome lunch specials! Can go wrong with pad thai & sushi. I recommend going after 12:30 and not sitting peak lunch time, as service can be a little slow.
This place is amazing. Staff are really friendly. Service awesome. Food was delicious. Great Thai food and rainbow roll was 👍
I've been to Kitajima a few times, always during dinner. It's a nice and relaxed environment with great sushi selection.
This place always has great and prompt service. The food is fantastic and my team and I have never had a bad experience. We thank you for having a great establishment.
Amazing, fresh, delicious sushi and the friendliest staff in town. I've been coming here for years and won't stop anytime soon.
Rudy is hands down the best Sushi chef with the best personality :) Great Food Great Service! What more can u ask for?
This has become almost a weekly spot for us. Great option for a low-key date night or family dinner. They have something for everyone without sacrificing any taste. My personal favorites are the sunshine roll and the red curry.
I visit at least once a week. The staff is so warm and inviting. The Thai food and the sushi are great across the board.
My daughter and I love this place! Their sushi is always great, the Thai food is fresh and flavorful! The staff us efficiency t and very kind. This is one of our regular spots that always pleases... never dissapoints!
We tried California eel roll, pad see ew, and sesame chicken, all dishes taste good and with good portion. Service is quite attentive also. Big indoor dining space and friendly staff.
Had a great dining experience. Our server Bella made our visit absolutely perfect. She is friendly, polite and knows her stuff. This young lady is an asset to your establishment!!! Thank you Bella!!!
The first time we’ve came here, we were absolutely blown away by our server and the quailing of food. The second time we came we had our server Isabella, she was very attentive and sweet. Always made sure our drinks were full, and a good sport to all the dad jokes lol. Overall, this is a great business. We’ve made this place our go to!

I'll have to admit that I was concern about going to a Thai and Japanese combine restaurant but I'll have ti admit the food isn't too bad. The hubby has been craving sushi but since Im pregnant and staying away from my favorite cuisine we figure we come here so we can both eat what we crave. Since my in laws joined us I able to order more varieties.

Good Sushi, friendly waitreses. Prices are regular with some early evening specials that are worth taking advantage of.
My Sushi go-to in Tustin. Kitajima Roll is my favorite and it's their house roll. Opens at 1130 for lunch.
The fish is always fresh it's my wife and I go to spot for date night
Decent selection for both sushi and thai... I approve!
I like going to this sushi spot because it doesn't feel so cramped like other places. Service is better than other sushi spots also. I really enjoy eating their food. Only one I didn't like was the chicken teriyaki.
Only one chef in for Mondays but he was working very hard. The sushi was very good fresh and flavorful. I definitely recommend this restaurant.
Update 4-22-2023: lunch combos are gone that's a shame. Food is still amazing. I have an internal battle every visit because I can't decide between be yellow curry or the pad see ew. Either way I always get the yellow tail sushi. Update again: I stand corrected, I had heard things changed a few years ago. Anyway, sorry about that. Update: the food is still amazing. Wife and I love coming for lunch because of the combos. Where else can you get sushi, and some Thai food all on one plate. Yellow curry, pad see ew, and some fresh fish... So delicious High quality food, very delicious. Staff can be a little slow unless Angie is in the house. Prices are about what you would expect from a good sushi restaurant. I have not tried their Thai food, but they know how to so sushi.
They do sushi well here. I get their Salmon sushi and salmon sashimi. Their garlic edamame isn’t as spicy as other places, it’s ok though. I stay away from their Thai food. Every time I got Thai food here it wasn’t as flavorful as Thai Chaiyo.

Good food, good service
We went with Thai food, not sushi. We found the soup to be too salty, the Drunken Noodles to be too salty, the Pad Thai to be just about perfect, the green curry thin and unsubstantial.
I have had been here twice and both times I did not appreciate the service. Made me feel rushed and unappreciated. Although the horrible service the food is excellent . Would recommend to take to go.
We've been here twice now. Both times to get a combo of Thai and sushi. They were both ok but not great, nothing to rave about. If you're looking for good food, good service, etc, I won't discourage anyone from trying this place. But for us it's not on the "hey, let's go back!" list.
Everyone was really nice. Food was good, but the portions were weird and we didn't get tended to very often. Its definitely a more 5 star experience during their happy hour!
I'm surprised to see reviews that say the service was good. My experience was the opposite, the staff made us feel as though they didn't want us there. Very cold and rushed. Lunch combo was tasty though.
It wasn’t bad for a strip mall restaurant. The sushi rolls and Thai food were pretty decent. It wasn’t anything I would rave about though. We had pad Thai and drunken noodles and they were both OK.

Had sushi and it was just bad.
Ordered a couple of rolls and a teriyaki bowl. The Trust Me Roll had the minimal amount of eel laid on top... Also the teriyaki bowl looked like a side dish as part of a combo but it was their full size entree. Go elsewhere.

Got turned away at 9:15pm.
Food was okay, service not that good ,appatizer came after main course, read small print on the menu or bring your attorney extremely deceiving, will not go back.
I don't know what or where this is. I probably drove by this place and stopped for thirty seconds and the phone said, oh look he's stopping. Let's get him to rate it. Silly Google maps tricks are for kids.
The cooled Mussels appetizer that I ordered today upset my stomach real bad. Being my birthday tomorrow, I am really upset about it. Please make sure your food is fresh .
