We visited this place with our two little children. They speak Italian and English fluently (obviously Spanish too). The black rice was delicious, as well as the pasta with home made raggout (which is truly their original preparation and should not be confused with the Italian ragú).
It's strange to see such polarized reviews. I didn't have any high expectations, we ended up in this reastaurant by chance as we were hungry and the place we came to have lunch in nearby was closed. We were pleasantly surprised by the food - it was the best seafood paella I've eaten in Valencia and the Sangria was great, too - proper wine, a lot of fruits and water without gas - it was truely perfect. The service was not great, but wasn't that terrible as depicted - it was ok. They spoke English and we didn't have any issues paying by card. They added 5 euro for 2 beers that we haven't ordered to our bill, but when we pointed this out, they returned those 5 euros to us. I'd go again for the food and Sangria though - they were worth it :)
A good place to stop for lunch :) We ordered Patata Bravas, a pitcher of d’acqua di Valencia and paella Valenciana. The wait for paella to be cooked is about 20-25 minutes, but well worth the wait! Paella was delicious 🫶😊, the service is great, very attentive staff:) I saw negative comments about the place, but cannot say anything bad about my experience. Will be back for paella!
After lunch we really wanted crema catalana, the Spanish dessert similar to crème brûlée. Debates will rage on as to which is better but I love them both. So s quick Google search of who had the crema catalana and we were off to El Rall. It’s just a few minutes from either the cathedral or the central market. At first they wanted to only seat us if we were having lunch but that was easily resolved. And I’m glad. This was maybe the best crema catalana I have ever eaten. Good coffee to go along with it and friendly waiters. Jan 17 update: we went back today with friends who were in town and did the full lunch. Excellent paella, especially the Valenciana which had lots of socorrat which we enjoy. And again, great service from Matej ! A must visit for crema catalana in Valencia. And their paella didn’t look bad either!
Even if that square isn't the best place I would choose for a terrace, these guys make it work. We had Seafood Paella, which was great. While we stood waiting for the food, rain started. In a minute they were offering us the option to go inside in that moment or any time we would want. All the time we were there, I could see their efforts to serve and please. Even if there is work to do on the way they serve (the paella dish came in a big hot pan and they put a cardboard egg holder under it to protect the table) or they used a napkin to protect the handle of the pan, I liked it. The feeling there is like having dinner at a friend of a friend's house... Don't ask for fancy stuff and enjoy what matters. Also, the price was right.
We had a couple of recommendations for good paella from locals and this was the only place that was in the city center and open early evening (we had a small daughter and an early flight). When we arrived, we were a little bit suspicious as the waiters were trying to fish for tourists from the street with menus at hand (although politely and friendly), this is normally never a good sign. We ordered the black rice paella with seafood - it was magnificent! We also enjoyed the crusty creme brulee very much.
I didn’t want to write a review about this place until I had a chance to try out the paella in a couple of places first. So after trying them out, I have to say that this place is my favorite for the following reasons: 1. The serving staff were very friendly. 2. They provided me with an English menu. 3. They were nice enough to make an single order portion of paella for me rather than a double that is advertised on their menu. The paella is flavorful. I love the crunchy rice and part of the skin on the chicken was also crunchy. I ordered a pitcher of sangria, a plate of mussels, and a paella Valencia. To my surprise(and the staff’s), I finished the whole meal. I would recommend this place without a doubt!
First and foremost the service was outstanding!!! It was a cool night outside and they had blankets on all the seats outside. We were the only people sitting outside and they moved tables together in between 4 heaters to make us more comfortable, without us asking. Secondly, the food was unforgettable! That was the best paella I have ever had in my life! I loved both the Valenciana and the seafood! Couldn't go wrong with this restaurant. I suggest it!
A great spot with authentic home cooked Valencian cuisine. Friendly staff - great atmosphere- the food was amazing - would thoroughly recommend!

The staff was amazing, and the food too! The atmosphere is amazing, as some street singers were close Fully recommend :D
Very friendly staff . We arrive without reservation and they found a table for us.Paella was fantastic and wine also.Thank you for this evening.

I had a great experience here! Paella was nice and staff were all very friendly in Spanish, English and even Dutch 😊 they also helped me keep warm by switching on a terrace heater! The only ‘negative’ thing why it didn’t get 5 stars I’d say was that they said it was only possible to order paella for two even though I was alone, but I read here from a fellow traveller that it was possible to get just a single person serving 🤷🏻♀️ I’ll still have a delicious lunch for tomorrow, but I would’ve preferred just getting a single serving and trying another restaurant tomorrow!

Had a pleasant experience at this restaurant! Stumbled upon it during the siesta on a weekend, and despite the long wait due to a bustling crowd, the food, especially the paella and rice with vegetables and fish, was ok. The staff’s friendliness added to the positive atmosphere. Though slightly overpriced, the overall experience made it worthwhile.
The small square and the menu looked inviting enough but no, I will not return and not recommend. The Gazpacho was OK. The catch of the day fish was named Dorade, but what I got was definitely another fish (see photo), grilled totally dry and not quite tasting fresh. So even when prices are not too high, value for money is below par. All deplorable street artists seemed to have gathered here... Poor English (menu in English though). And then: only cash! Without prior warning. Seriously, in 2024 in the 3rd city of Spain. Un-be-lie-va-ble...
The food was good but the service was far from good. One of the forks on the table was dirty and when asked for replacement I was looked as asking something unkind. Of course, no apologies given. I also couldn't order a second beer and dessert for the kid as the waiter manged to ignore us for more than 30 minutes. Same with the bill - I had to go to the desk to get it paid. While we were eating a German group sat next to us, waited for 15-20 minutes to be served and then they simply left. We sited inside and it was too noise. Outside sittings were also too narrow.
The service was not good, I doubted first maybe they were busy but I just didn’t really find the staff members friendly and that is really important in my opinion. Sangria wasn’t good, no fruit, bad taste. Paella was a bit blend I would say, wouldn’t come back. It looked like a typical local restaurant, some other reviews are good, might depend on the day, idk?

We asked whether we could have an outside table; the male waiter asked us whether we were going to eat something We said “no, we only want a drink.” The waiter made a gesture of contempt and allowed us to sit after thinking about it. This is bad manners. We did not feel welcomed. Most of the outside tables were unoccupied.
I went to this restaurant with my friends after a day in Valencia. We only found this restaurant in a not so bad square (Carrer de Generoso Hernandez) and it was so disastrous. The waiter came to us and was so unpleasant and start to get angry because two of us just ordered drinks After that we want soo long to get our food, and for what ? Poor burgers, paellas with just little pieces of chicken… We are so disappointed about the quantities that we had to eat outside after ! But the worst were the prices… 18 EUROS for a little piece of paella, when the quality is equal to the one of Carrefour Market !!!! The paella was disgusting for these prices. Anyway I hope anybody will ever go to this restaurant
