Easily top 5 meal in Valencia. We ordered the sepionet (grilled cuttlefish fish with parsley garlic oil), Valencia mussels (in a savory and watery broth), patatas bravas (with a dollop of garlic whip) and a glass of vermouth and tinto de Verano. Everything was delicious. I would recommend this same exact meal.

This place is just perfection. You can patiently wait to get a table or you can opt to slide on up to the bar and order your dish of steaming hot mussels. Dunk chunky pieces of bread into the broth, pierce the sweet plump mussels and eat them. Toss the shells onto the buckets on the floor. The Patatas Bravas here are uniquely served with a spicy tomato sauce and a dollop of garlicky aioli on top but honestly I didn't care about the sauce at all. The potatoes were perfect on their own. Crunchy crispy on the outside, pillowy on the inside, they had a unique texture that became an addiction. W normally don't order Patatas Bravas but Jorge our bartender told us to order it. He also recommended the cuttlefish omg. Perfectly grilled tender with bites of sea salt, it disappeared very quickly. Wash it all down with terrific white wines by the glass. Finish with the house vermouth. Divine.

Let’s start with: Oh my god. So very tasty food. Service is Spanish, don’t expect instant friendly love - it takes time to get a smile but as a Finn I respect such genuine friendliness instead of ingenuity. This local tapas bar has been open since 1918. Didn’t see a single tourist inside but I’m sure there are some at times. But let’s get to the point. Food. Amazing from first small tapas bite to bigger main dish. Little fish, beans, Russian salad, fresh tomato salsa, pepito Valenciano, Sepia. Top taste & texture. My personal highlight of Valencia.

This place has hands down the BEST POTATO BRAVAS in Valencia! Katarina was our server yesterday. This was a return visit and we ended up taking two servings of the Potato Bravas for a party of four. Their aioli is great, and the tomato sauce is SO GOOD, that we ask for a serving on the side. The drinks are also great, according to two people in our group who had them. The house drink/wine or whatever it’s called is a vermouth I think. It was so good that the person took seconds! The sangria is good, but it’s the house wine that is the star! This bar has been open since 1917, so over a hundred years. No wonder, it’s a beautiful interior- a cross between a pub and a really lovely bar. Beautiful tikes, even in the bathrooms. The toilets, a flight of 9 steps up, including a little landing, are clean and conveniently big, unlike many popular places. It’s the food you’ll go back for- oyster fritters, beans, a fish tapas and … all of them!

Great authentic tapas bar! We ordered four plates of tapas which was plenty for two people. All of them were delicious. I can especially recommend the mussels for which the place seems to be famous. But the squid, fried fish and even the fried potatoes were amazing too. Service was great and made us feel very welcome!

Primera visita a La Pilareta, un establecimiento tradicional y centenario en Valencia. Pedimos clóchinas, ensaladilla rusa, patatas bravas, croquetas de mejillón, montadito de longaniza y montadito de morcilla. Las clóchinas nos decepcionaron un poco, especialmente teniendo en cuenta que es un local especializado en ellas. Lo mismo nos ocurrió con la ensaladilla rusa y las croquetas, tapas bastante normales que no nos llamaron la atención en especial. Sin embargo, las patatas bravas nos parecieron excelentes, y la salsa estaba muy bien lograda. Los montaditos fueron, sin duda, lo mejor de la comida: sencillos, tradicionales y con buen producto, exactamente lo que esperas cuando pides estos clásicos. Servicio rápido, precios razonables y un ambiente auténtico.

Fuimos en busca de un sitio típico con comida valenciana. Y acertamos. Muy bonita decoración, sitio con solera. Atención lenta y no muy simpática, pero con corrección. 1/2 de Esgarra muy buena pero un poco pequeña. Las clóchina muy sabrosas, pero si quieres mojar pan paga 2€ más. Muy buen ambiente.

Como siempre que venimos todo perfecto, comida buenisima, no le pongo las 5 por que sentarse en una mesa es complicado y hay que esperar bastante. Mejillones, pescaditos, patatas bravas, sepionet y 3 croquetas súper buenas y sabrosas. Volveremos seguro otra vez.

Hacía muchos años que no iba y, es cierto, el bar sigue como hace 30 años. No pedí cloxinas porque son mejillones. El calamar a la romana chicloso, la ensaladilla buena, La cerveza cara.

He ido varias veces a La Pilareta y cada visita me sorprende por lo bien que mantienen la esencia de un bar tradicional valenciano. Los mejillones en escabeche son espectaculares, bien aderezados y con ese toque justo de acidez. Las habas en temporada son otro imprescindible que no me pierdo nunca. El ambiente es autentico, ruidoso pero con encanto, y la barra siempre esta animada. El unico punto que les restaria es que a veces el servicio se colapsa cuando hay mucha gente, pero es comprensible dado lo pequeno del local. Recomendable para quien quiera probar tapas valencianas de toda la vida.

This is one of the little charming tapas bar in central Valencia with a long history. We love the small plates we had & the vermouths we consumed. Also love the way they keep the traditions up by having the food waste troughs there. The cuttlefish fish was insanely good, so was the huge croquette looking Pepito Valenciano.

This restaurant was adviced to us as a good seafood restaurant. To be honest the mussels were good (small portion) the rest was ok .

La Pilareta siempre ha sido un referente en la ciudad de Valencia, bar centenario famoso por sus clochinas valencianas, vermú, etc. Un local que mantiene la decoración de antaño, azulejos de pastilla negra, madera y una barra de mármol. Un local que trae viejos recuerdos y quizá por eso la última visita fue decepcionante, clochinas sosas y aguadas y la cerveza cara. El ambiente regular, el local es pequeño y no dispone de aire acondicionado, la limpieza mejorable, el personal desidioso, falta cuidar los detalles, no nos pusieron servilletas ni pidiendolas. Creo que se puede mantener el encanto del local, preservar los elementos arquitectónicos originales que le dan carácter y buscar un equilibrio para modernizar y mejorar ( por ejemplo con la climatización).

Elegimos este local porque me fijé en sus reseñas y la mayoría eran bastante buenas. Lo ponían como un centro de refer ven la ciudad de Valencia, sin embargo nos defraudó bastante. El servicio algo lento a pesar de que no era hora punta y habían muy pocos clientes, además les vendría bien ser un poco más simpáticos. En cuanto a lo que comimos…estaba aceptable pero nada a destacar. Las raciones algo pequeñas. En definitiva, me imagino que este local tuvo muchos años de gloria pero ahora está demasiado dirigido al turismo.

El servicio bastante regular… Las clochinas?? Tendrán la fama, pero sin más. Id a Galicia y probad los mejillones y luego comparáis… Las raciones poco abundantes. Las croquetas de clochinas con poco sabor. Los pescaditos normales. El esgarret bien. Los montaditos normalitos. Tendrá la fama, pero muy sin más.

No tienen una carta muy extensa de comida casi todo son tapas. Llegamos tarde a comer Estuvimos de visita en museos por la zona en Valencia y la verdad es que me esperaba más gente por el tipo de establecimiento que era. Yo especialmente para comer, soy “especialito” ya que según qué verduras como pimiento, cebolla y otras no me gustan. Pero con el compañero que fuimos coincidimos los dos en qué no acababa de satisfacernos. Me refiero a que el estilo “quids” 80ero español no acababa de recordarnos los sabores y los recuerdos de la época. En algún momento sentimos como si sobráramos porque los camareros parece que estaban deseando salir y mira que preguntamos antes de sentarnos si la cocina estaba abierta. Nos contestaron que no había problema que estaba abiertos 24 horas. Un bar de tapas y ya.

Volvimos después de 25 años y el local no ha cambiado, parece q se paró el tiempo. Servicio camareros con nosotros fue atento y rápidos. Cervezas caras, creo q ahí coincidimos todos. Y los mejillones (clochinas sólo entre abril y agosto que sepamos de Valencia) sosos y muy hechos. De todos modos nunca está mal pasarpor allí y tomarse una caña y probar sus otras tapas.

Hemos ido dos personas aún bebiendo refrescos, no vino ni vermú, el precio nos ha parecido elevado para raciones pequeñas. Las bravas las recomiendo, aún que pedimos dos raciones porque la primera nos supo a poco, de hecho pensaba que eran medias raciones. El pescadito frito nada crujiente, los mejillones con regusto a chorizo (supongo que su receta es así).

Came twice in two days. Night one really good service and excellent food. Night two the service anything but acceptable. Tables didnt get cleaned, service was extremely slow, and unfriendly. Waiters where making out during service. To the owner: While we were there several people sat at tables but left because they were un-attended. Overall good experience

Long queue, had to wait for about 1 hour to get my table which was actually promising. I don't mind queuing for great food. It's ok, nothing mind-blowing. I'm sure their produce is fresh. Somehow it was lacking overall punch in the flavors. The sepia was a bit on the chewy side. The mussels were actually plum and juicy just the soup was very peppery. I guess that is their signature taste. I really wanted to like it. Was just not my taste. But for sure it was freshly made and served quickly. The croquettes were creamy and crunchy, golden brown yet lacking flavor. And for sure I couldn't taste the mussels. The olives were great! Overall it's ok. By no means is the food bad. Was it worth waiting for 1 hour? No. Would I eat here for a quick bite? Yes. The waiter was efficient and worked like a machine but I never saw him smile in the 2 hours I've been there .

Es un bar pequeño, con pocas mesas, pero el camarero de mediana edad es bastante antipático y maleducado. Aunque le des las gracias cada vez que te trae algo, ni te responde ni te mira a la cara. La comida es básica, sin destacar, y el sitio está bien ubicado, cerca del centro. Sin embargo, la actitud del personal arruina un poco la experiencia; da la sensación de que les molesta atenderte. Un simple “gracias” o una sonrisa harían mucho por mejorar el trato y las ganas de volver.
