Opinions de La Pagoda Varese
Ottimi piatti, cucina leggera. Personale cordiali e disponibile. Un piccolo parcheggio interno, oppure raggiungibile dal grande parcheggio dell'ippodromo di Varese (100 m)
The scampi tastes so so so good. But the decoration is a bit outdated.
After changing management 15 days ago, I returned for dinner tonight and I must say I had a really good meal. Friendly staff and quality fish.
I've been going to this place for over five years now. The fish is always clean and fresh... the sushi is well-cooked, both in terms of the rice and the portions. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly (you might find it a little awkward the first time, but you'll soon get used to it). The best dishes here are 1) uramaki/sashimi 2) spring rolls (truly top-notch) and ravioli, and 3) the grilled soybean paste (another must-try). The best part? From the first time I ate there until now (I had dinner on New Year's Eve), it has never disappointed me. It's a constant among oriental restaurants in Varese, and I definitely think it deserves a spot in the top three in the province. And one more thing: the dinner menu from Monday to Sunday is €22 per person, undoubtedly among the lowest... if you're a fan of these cuisines, you absolutely have to try it.
I've known this restaurant for over 20 years, and despite the fact that they've been under new management for some time now, I still consider this place one of the best Chinese restaurants around. They also now prepare sushi freshly for anyone who wants a mix of Chinese and sushi. The only slight disappointment was the temperature inside the restaurant... honestly, a little too cold, considering you're sitting at a table. The food is excellent and the prices are quite reasonable. They also offer takeout. 10++ The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I'll be back soon to try their Chinese food.
Generous portions, unique offerings, a relaxed atmosphere, perfectly digestible, high-quality dishes, and reasonable prices, plus public parking nearby. This place definitely has everything it takes to be one of the best of its kind in the Varese area. Highly recommended and definitely worth returning to.
It's a nice place
We often go to dinner in this very characteristic place with some friends, with whom we share a passion for music. Excellent service, efficient and punctual. Fresh and very good sushi, varied menu excellent for all palates. I highly recommend the tighel loll and the buttelfly loll which are truly heavenly, if you then serve them with the rosetta even better (very nice waitress). If you haven't been there yet, pop in because it's a magical place that warms your heart and sends you to heaven faster. Yes Yes pagoda Yes Yes.
Location (9): A quaint and welcoming place with high-quality finishes, an open kitchen, and a glimpse of the skill with which these little gems are assembled! Service (10): Quick, punctual, and precise. Welcoming staff, the first impression is of having been there before, a homey atmosphere. Everything says "make yourself at home." They seem to have known my tastes forever! Menu (10): Immense, imaginative, perfect. You start carefree on the first page, jotting down your every wish, and when you think it's enough, you realize you're only on page three and the imagination isn't over. Great classics and fantasies, all spread across many pages. Not at all disorganized. Account (10): World hunger, bay bay. At such a ridiculously low price, being able to get so much in terms of quality and quantity is shocking. I think I'll be back soon, especially since, inexplicably, there's never anyone there...
For lunch, you can choose the all-you-can-eat option for €12 or €9.90; the difference is the variety of the menu. We went for lunch during the week and chose the €12 option. We ordered three rounds, each consisting of several dishes. You can order as many rounds as you like. The food, both Chinese and Japanese, is very good. The staff are friendly and the service is fast.
Best
Posto accogliente anche se con pochi tavoli, si può scegliere tra menù alla carta o all you can eat. Si può mangiare sia sushi sia piatti caldi tipici della cucina orientale.
The food is more than decent, obviously the quality is well-proportioned to the price. The service is poor, but not because they aren't friendly or helpful; they're short-staffed, and between preparing food for home delivery and serving at the table, it's a bit confusing. Still, it's not bad.
The location isn't the prettiest, but it has a small parking lot, and another one 100 meters away. We go there every time we're in Varese because the food is really good and cheap. The fried foods are excellent and very light; the fried chicken is superb!
Management must have changed; the dishes were excellent, even the raw fish. On the contrary, some time ago, under the new owners, after the longtime owners Giovanni and Angela made it one of the best in Varese, the quality had deteriorated. Very close to home, I reserve the right to give another star on the second try. The staff were courteous. Takeaway experience.
This restaurant doesn't exactly invite you in, both because of its location, right on a busy intersection, and because of the somewhat run-down building. I ate well, especially the Chinese cuisine. The shrimp and vegetable udon was excellent, although a few more shrimp wouldn't have been bad. The bamboo chicken and mushrooms were also excellent, and the grilled ravioli were excellent. I tried the sushi, mostly salmon and shrimp, as is customary in Italy, with little tuna and nothing else. The fish is fresh, but real sushi is something else entirely. I recommend the Chinese cuisine.
The management recently changed, and it's now in the hands of two young people who do practically everything themselves! While the food served is good, there are a number of issues that penalize the business, especially at a delicate time like a startup. 1. Slow service: in an all-you-can-eat restaurant, you always expect speed when it comes to being served. In my case, just coming to get the order sheet took half an hour (there were only three tables occupied). 2. Not all ordered dishes were brought, even though they were marked as done on the sheet. The staff's courtesy is excellent, and the food overall is good. I hope the aspects listed above improve.
I've always limited myself to home deliveries, so I can't give it a higher rating, but I give it a full rating based on what I've tried. Excellent food, generous portions, and great quality. I can't find the Sale e Pepe Shrimp I eat at their place anywhere else.
A nice place on the outskirts of Varese. Friendly staff, fast service, and a clean place. The only drawback is the parking, but there's one nearby. The Chinese cuisine is very good, with a good variety of dishes, both sushi and Chinese, some very delicious. Some had a little too much salsa for my taste, but overall it was good. We'll definitely be back!
Foreword: I can give at least one star, but if I could, I'd give it a good MINUS 4-5 STARS!!! Whoever writes "fresh fish" in the comments has probably only ever eaten Findus breaded fish fingers, and shrimp that's anything but fresh... Anyway, I'll leave this comment after, alas, the second order, which I should never have placed. I'll start by saying we NEVER RECEIVED the first order. First call: we're at the address, we go down but NO ONE is there. Second call: we're at the traffic light and our tire's flat, but NO ONE is there. After ten minutes, third call: our order was delivered right next door 😳... HUGE DANCE AND FASTING. 😑 But today we're trying again, confidently. We ordered twice the wrong amount of shrimp, and on top of that, they were caught directly from the sewer system because the taste was exactly that, freshly stored... Suggestion: change management again, or focus on steamed vegetables, maybe that's better, or hire competent staff!!! GOODBYE 👎 I'm sorry I ordered from you, it won't happen again... 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
Not a positive experience. I went with my family for dinner on Saturday, influenced by the positive reviews I completely disagree with. It's not sushi, but rice—lots of rice—wrapped in a thin layer of raw fish. Nothing like the Japanese restaurants in the area in terms of atmosphere and food. Just seeing the place, both inside and out, is enough to understand that we're not there. I've been accused of bias, so I'm convinced to go in, even though I've made a reservation. There was only one table set on a Saturday night... the smell of fried food was nauseating, and the owner was dishonest, initially bringing plates full of rice and almost nonexistent fish, and then finishing with a plate of fresh tuna cut into chunks, inedible. We left something behind, nothing significant, and you never do that, but it was disgusting, like the tartare, which was listed as one type on the menu, and then they brought something similar to mush with pink sauce... disgusting. The lady was pre-emptive, and in my opinion, she did it on purpose. When it came to the bill, she asked for a €10 surcharge for not having eaten everything. Obviously, it wasn't paid. We love sushi and frequent restaurants like this. Although it's inexpensive, I don't recommend it. I saw that they do a lot of takeout, so maybe they're more competitive in this sector. The fish was fresh, anyway; we had no problems. When we left, having not paid the €10 surcharge, they mumbled something in Chinese that I think wasn't good. Next time, I'll follow my instincts, not my preconceptions!
Let me start by saying we've been regulars for a long time. But as soon as the restaurant reopened in the yellow zone, the service was unbearable!! Two hours for lunch!! And in the end, they even wanted us to pay for just the drinks... well, we'll never go there again!
