La Ruggia is a fantastic spot for fish lovers – so good that we came back a second time during our stay in Varigotti. The mussels were outstanding, full of flavor, and the burrata-stuffed anchovies were just as impressive. The tuna tartar tagliolini was out of this world, and the devil fish was also excellent. On our second visit we had to order the mussels again, and also enjoyed the fried calamari with carrots and zucchini, which were light and delicious. For the main course we shared the catch of the day (dorado) for two, perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. The meal was rounded off beautifully with a tiramisu that was excellent. Both the beer selection and the white wine we had were also very good and paired perfectly with the dishes. The setting couldn’t be better – right on the beach, with the sound of the waves and a view of the sunset. Service was friendly, helpful, and very accommodating. Truly a memorable dining experience and highly recommended.

At La Ruggia, we enjoyed one of the most memorable happy hours of the trip. The terrace, with its breathtaking ocean views, set the stage for a truly elevated experience. We sipped hand-crafted cocktails that were as beautiful as they were delicious, made by bartenders who were both professional and genuinely friendly. The vibe was relaxed yet refined , a five-star experience in every sense, where the service, setting, and drinks all came together in perfect harmony.

Amazing location looking over and almost on top of the beach. The staff were very friendly and not overly attentive- good knowledge of local wines, which was great. The food did not disappoint at all, delicious pasta, fresh fish, and tasty home made desserts.

To start the view and the people were amazing. They serve a lightly fried bread with veggies in it before bringing out the meal. We had the mussels and a pasta. These were amazing and we did not leave a drop as everything was incredible. We stopped on a road trip. Definitely worth it!!!

Had lunch as a group. Service was lacking, food mostly of a good standard but Poke Bowls are to be avoided - made of American fish and bland fish.
the service is not satisfy us, the waiters were not taking care at all, took 20 mins to order , even though we were just in front of the bar
Last night we spent 140€ for a three people dinner. The fish patties as starters were okay, only I suspect they were reheated, as the cold veggie cream soup that came with them helped corroborating. They arrived very quickly, as did the disappointingly tasteless tuna, dispelling many doubts about the freshness of the dishes. The white wine was sugary but accompanied well the second courses, if it wasn't that my bass filled was already splashed with the water of its own cooking, making for a soggy, kinda sad piece of fish. Decorating the dish were some artsy doodled 'commas' made of what we discovered being ketchup sauce. This was probably the lowest moment of the dinner. Obviously It didn't sit well with any of the accompanied dishes. At last the tiramisu came, but instead of the classic coffee and liquor the biscotto was floating in a dense bitter liquid that I failed to recognise nor appreciate that much.
Very unfriendly and unprofessional staff. We've never got a table here even everything was empty. Even though we were asking for any time to return until midnight they didn't offer anything. Foreigners should definitely stay away from here, seems to be gatekeeped for locals. Even of the people who have been here, I have not heard much good.
I don't have leprosy, that I know of, but as a solo diner, I was treated as if limbs were falling from my body, as leaves from a tree. I went to the restaurant next door and was treated as if I was cured. In a sense, I was. I was cured of the disease of the short, balding, disrespectful head waiter at La Ruggia. Pity, I'm here for 2 weeks every year, and I tip 20pc everywhere...well, not here, of course.
70% empty tables, 5 reservations on the list and still no seat for young couple
