The best Philly cheese steak sandwich. Miguel perfected the sandwich and gave me the marinara sauce on the side which I highly recommend because the sandwich is already juicy. Perfect amount of cheese that does not overpower the meat. This is my go-to place going forward. 5 stars all the way

Best hoagie on West coast! Been coming here for over 40 years and still just as good!! My go to is pizza steak which includes grilled steak, onions, mushrooms, and marinara sauce. Caution... Let it air out for a few minutes before macking down because can be pretty hot! Love this place although not the prettiest of places.

Absolutely delicious! Double cheeseburger came in a hoagie and was extremely filling. great bang for your buck and delicious. Good tasting meat a good amount of melting cheese and very fresh vegetables. I recommend and I will definitely be back to try there Philly cheese steak.

Old school philly cheese steaks, the Great Western Way, the food is delicious fresh grilled to order and they have a heartfelt sandwich that comes out - always piping hot with amazing cheese and chopped steak! Onions, tomatoes, green peppers, all the options are there including a mushroom swiss. Chips, thick fries, cocoa cola, I've been so many times over the years and it has been consistently delicious and savory. Cheeseburgers and fries as well, and I really like the guys that work there, they always treat me very kindly.

This place is very small, has been around since my childhood but I never tried it. Well I have wasted time because the sandwiches are amazing. Big portions, fresh, hot, and delicious. If you have never tried it here please try it. If you love cheesesteaks, onions, and pepers... you will not regret it.

One of the greatest.... Been eating here since my School days, walking & getting off of the bus on my way from school. Fresh bread sitting at the door daily, on the way to school. Mushroom Cheese steak w/ extra Mushrooms, Chips, Homemade Lemonade, & don't forget the Pepperchinis & Cherry Peppers. It's a must to go there before leaving out of the hood.

I can't believe this place is trying to keep its reputation. I worked there 47 years ago, a great laid back place , returned to the place 5 years ago, still the same, was just there on Sunday the 27th of August and had the worst possible experience, rude from the get go, I simply wanted to change a item on my order and received a eye roll and was told to wait outside. Couldn't pay for my order, Sorry but something must change. I truly loved this place.

One of my favorite spots to get a Philly cheesesteak which is all I get here. Very friendly people working. I like to get extra meat, to balance out the meat-onion ratio. I'm sure the rest of the food is delicious as well, but I'm stuck on the cheesesteak. Prices are good. Seating isn't very comfy, but it does add to the Venice vibe.

Excellent hoagie sandwiches served by friendly and helpful staff. Great place to pick up sandwiches and take to a favorite location or home. Needing a quick lunch, seating is available in an outdoor patio. The food is great, but not the place you’d want to go out for a romantic date. Good place to get together with friends for lunch or early dinner.

If I could give this place a million stars I would! The gentlemen who I assume own and work there are just the most incredibly sweet and smiley guys, it always brightens my day when I’m in the neighborhood and can stop by. On top of just always impeccable service the food is damn delicious! It’s seriously one of my favorite, if not my favorite burger’s of all time…the white american cheese with the crunchy lettuce, onions, and mayo on a hoagie bun is serious perfection. I will go to this place anytime I’m in Venice, if you’re in the area you should definitely check it out!

Always love going here. The Staff is very cool, and customer oriented. My older Daughter went in last week, and not only did they greet her like old friends, they were humbly grateful to hear that their food was just as great as she remembered! Her husband was very impressed too! We, as a family , love you all and have for over 35 years.

Came to eat and reminisce from the old days, did not disappoint! Hoagies were on point and the fresh lemonade was a perfect companion. Introduced the fourth generation of our family to one of our favorite local spots.

Fantastic cheesesteak as well as cheeseburger sub - and that's all they do. Not even fries for sides, just chips and some sodas. But there's something to be said for focusing on a few things and doing them well, and that is absolutely what is going on here. No frills, this is basically just a stand with a couple tables outside (no service though) but really, it's exactly what it needs to be. The dude working when i went on a Tuesday in July was super friendly and helpful in deciding which cheesesteak my friend and i should get. You can tell they are authentic and the quality shines through in the taste. Definitely get some marinara on the side, even if it sounds weird! It was so good I'm getting it again tonight 🤤 (just a few days later)

My uncle Lou… always showed me the best places to eat around The L.a. area and this was one of them! Locked in my memories, the pizza cheesesteak. It’s been 10 years + since I’ve eaten here but I was passing through had to get one! He taught me to leave the sandwich open to cool down, a pro move…they’re fresh off the grill and retain the heat for a while don’t burn ya self!

Truly the greatest Hoagie in California. At 45 I've had my share of Hoagies. None compare to this one. Been coming for almost 18 years from Rancho Cucamonga/Fontana area since I was introduced to this golden gem. Quality and consistency in the flavor has never been compromised. Happened to be in the neighbourhood so thought I'd give this a try. Initially planned to keep it simple with the standard cheese steak but the service guy upsold me to the hoagie with peppers and mushrooms. I'm very glad he did: the sandwich was delicious and the best cheese steak I've had outside of Philly. Marinara on the side and peppers are recommended, especially if you like spice. I'll be back😄

My brother told me about this place he told me it was the best Cheesesteak place in La Los Angeles. He's told me many times before and I haven't had a chance to go and happened to be in the area. I called him and to where it was and it turns out I was like 10 minutes away. I wasn't disappointed. This place is great! A fat sandwich for like 10 bucks. I couldn't be happier. I was with a friend and he was ecstatic about it also. Definitely gonna come by again next time in LA. It's worth the trip.

Okay first of all hands down to the food. The food hit me good. I've been around SAMO to Venice all my life and always missed this spot. Nonetheless, today was the day to finally try it out. While I was doing street photography along my way, I finally made my pitstop. And Yes! Finally that lemonade I HIGHLY recommend it! Too damn good. Not sweet not sour. Just right. The mushroom cheesesteak was hella good. Definitely coming back for the double cheeseburger I was recommended to try. And yes they are hella welcoming.

Probably the best cheesesteak I’ve found in the LA area. Super hot when served and worth burning your mouth for. You can add jalapeños or serranos to the filling if you want it spicy. The overview says cash only but they do take card as well.

This is one of the best places to eat in Venice let alone west side the same two gentlemen it’s a nostalgic place much like you’d expect to go through to a drive-through with your convertible impalas and it brings back that feeling, this is the place to be this summer The grill is tight, but it is good grilled onions, mushrooms, peppers, cheese, steak, man, toast the bread on it. This place is good and they know how to do it too. It’s authentic cooked to your liking every single time. get here early is busy on the weekend.

Went to this place today. Totally under-estimated the size of the sandwich. In hindsight, it probably would have taken two of me to finish. The steak was thinly sliced instead of chopped. Mine came with onion, cheese, and tomato sauce. It was steamy hot, to the point that the gentleman serving my food had to repeat the warning “be careful! It’s very hot. Don’t burn your mouth!” twice. Thanks to him, my tongue was saved. Great sandwich. Great people. Great atmosphere!

Authentic cheesesteak sandwiches and hoagies. Love this place! Some visitors may remember when this location was called 'Pup and Taco' and you could get 5 chili cheese dogs for $1. If you look closely you can see where the building was designed to look like a hotdog in a bun.

Just go and you will have no regrets!! Very small place so you will get to know your neighbors!! The food was outstanding and you didn't leave hungry either. We go back year after year - when we leave the Jacob Javits Center during the auto show.

Not much atmosphere here, unless a shack in a parking lot is your thing? The service is good, just a guy, a counter, and a notepad. You order, they write it down, the cook kooks it. The sandwiches are pretty good. It's not a real Philly style cheese stake, but good none the less. The meet is thin, but not too thing, (it is sometimes a little grisly, but usually not so much). The bread is really good, the cheese is nice and provolone gooy, but I di not dig the tomato sause on the sandwich. If that's your thing, then there you have it, but not for me. The parking lot is miniscule but free. This place has been around forever. The prices are par for the corse, and it's the only stake sandwich shop nearby. The sandwiches are not bad, not great, but sorta better than just ok. If you're in the area and want a quick, handful of meat on a bun, stop on by and give it a try.

Having eaten hundreds of Philly Cheesesteaks in Philadelphia it’s always difficult for me to find one outside of the city that I love and would crave again. This is not one of those places. The cheesesteaks were good for LA but I don’t think I will be eating here anytime soon. The service was quick and prices are fair but parking was a bit annoying. Worth it to stop at for a quick bite.

I love this place! It's been around for years. It's a small hole in the wall but the hoagies are big and will fill you up. AND now they take credit card payments!!! Fyi they don't serve french fries which is a bummer but they have potato chips as a side choice. Can't go wrong with any of the menu choices!!!

I never had a cheesesteak with the tomato sauce like this. I’m not a huge fan of tomatoes but I like to get things as they are intended when I try it the first time. It was damn good! I’d probably go more basic next time since it was very messy. The lemonade 🍋was 10/10

I’ve heard great things about this place for years and decided to finally give it a try. Great amount of food and very filling. The first bite I felt like it needed something, but as I got towards the middle it got better after tasting the cheese. The marinara sauce was okay, not a fan as a dipping sauce. Solid place though, but I don’t think I’d come back.

The food was good, but skip the marinara sauce. The Philly Cheese was tasty and so were the peppers at the service counter. We found plenty of parking and the service was great. I would eat here again.

Growing in Venice- all my family members enjoy this place. It’s an institution for our city. The food quality is great, these old recipes stand the test of time. I miss the Old timers behind the counter. It’s a shame how the service is shawty now. Treating my wife poorly just for asking if the order was ready/ it wasn’t even busy to stress over orders on the line. Customer service positions is not for everybody but, considering you work there- Learn to be professional at your job/ especially to our women. I will Consider this a random incident but I really wish the owners get a handle on the staff training. Make them understand we/ the customers make your pay check possible, if you don’t care about that- go work in a warehouse where your smile doesn’t matter.

I really wanted to love this spot because it’s an icon in Venice and I love it’s history. But when it comes to the actual food/experience, I was quite underwhelmed. I hope this place stays open forever because it is a landmark at this point, but for me, I would not come back. Hoagie was decent, but missing some flavor.

Great hoagies is the reason to go here. I love the cheese steak w/ peppers and mushrooms (hold the tomato sauce)! Love the grilled onions! They're set up perfect during the quarantine. Just call in the order and it's ready for pickup in 10 min.

2 people can easily split a sandwich and be equally as satisfied. I dont usually shy away from B-ratings but I would only go here if it was convenient. The Tomato Steak was good with onions and sauce. Meat is well flavored. Depending on the time of day it could take a while to get your food. Very small place with minimal staff.

Ordered a cheesesteak. 30 mins go by. No cheesesteak. Walk ins after me got thier food. Well that was my lunch break waiting and smelling cheesesteak but my break is over. Thanks and happy Father's day.

The hoogies are pretty great! It was my first time trying it and I wasn't disappointed but I wasn't amazed either. The quality of meat is very good but I feel as if it's missing something. I got the bell pepper cheesesteak but I needed some sort of dipping sauce;it would have definitely wpuld have gave it a better taste and not their marinara sauce. The hoogies are big and definitely will fill you up. I also think it a bit overpriced if you add extras, what I did love was their homemade lemonade 🍋 So refreshing and not too sweet it was perfect. Would I go back? Probably not because it's a bit far for me and it's not worth the drive but maybe if I'm in the area I would.

Been passing this place for years. 2025, decided to try because I was in the area. Honestly I have had wayyy! better. I can say that the flavor is there. Bread inside was soaked. Out side bun a little hard. It’s one of those places you just try once for the experience. I personally will not be back. Also the place is behind the times. Never incorporated fries to menu as well. $17 for a 9” hoagie. Better known as a Philly cheesesteak with mushrooms.

Vibes was dope, service was great but the sandwich (the steak) wasn't seasoned much. I had to add sweet and tangy bbq at home. Expected more from the reviews.

Their portion was pretty big for their price and the taste wasn't bad exept it wasn't actually anything special like what the other customer was telling me becauae it was just a Philly cheese steak sandwich with mushroom in it.

It’s always a hit or miss depending on who takes the order. We always say “just meat and cheese” for the cheesesteak, no onions or sauce. But it’s been inconsistent which makes us not want to come back even though the food is delicious.

1. Steak sandwich: The onions had a burnt metallic taste which totally all set the sandwich. 2. Hoagie: if you know anything about the taste of a South Philadelphia hoagie this is not it. The hoagie/ SUB had a decent taste but it just wasn't South Philly all in all it's still worth a try.

This was my first time coming here. Friends and family have always said that it is very good. Unfortunately my sandwich was not. I received nothing but a mountain of vegetables in my sandwich and wondered where all the meat went. I got a thin slice that looked like a pancake. If I wanted lots of vegetables I would have ordered a vegetarian sandwich. Won't be returning back here anytime soon.

Unfortunately not good. Very poor quality steak, no fat. Not sumptuous. Dripping wet sub that tore apart the roll. This is not an east coast cheese steak nor steak and cheese. Kinda dry steak in a roll wet with some kind of juice. People were nice but sub wasn’t good.

I called the place an order over the phone when I got there it was incorrect and then the cook and his attitude proceeded to lie to me and told me that I would lie to him about what I ordered the cook was very unprofessional and I will not be returning
