Love it here! The Tavern is poppin' on Thursday nights since it's college night! Super fun spot with tons of stuff to do, yummy drinks and even tacos out on the patio for when it's getting late and you're needing some good, drunk eats.

One of my favorite places to eat in Ventura. The happy hour food specials are half-off from 5-8pm, an amazing deal. On Friday and Saturday nights there are live music acts, and during the weekdays you can play table tennis, pool (on two tables, one is upstairs) or head outside for a bean-bag game or two...

The Tavern is a bar and grill that was originally a house built in 1912. It has a few little rooms to hang out in and the best outdoor drinking area in town. There are pool tables, Cornhole, and they just got a giant connect four. They open every day at 5:00pm, except Sunday when they're open for brunch at 9:00am.

One of the coolest and most unique bars I've been to. Definitely my favorite spot in Ventura. Tons of rooms with different games/instuments/decorations to appreciate. The drinks were great as well. I've been here a few times and it's always been one of the highlights on my Ventura trips.

Old school dive bar in a Victorian mansion. Several rooms, and a large outdoor area are available. Food is great, and the bar selection is good too, but be prepared for downtown prices.

This bar has the best atmosphere of any bar I've ever been to! So many different experiences to be had in one place! You can party like you're back in college, relax with a scotch by the fire, shoot some pool or dance your heart out. With everything this bar has to offer, it makes the higher drink prices worth it!

A very cool Bar. It is an large 2 story old wood house. Hardwood floors throughout. Great music with a very large wood patio in back. One bedroom is now the pool room. The family room is where the large old main bar is. Lots of cool stuff on the walls, lots of couches to sit and chat with new friends. I highly recommend this cool place.

Historic landmark building converted to a restaurant/bar, with lots of space, quiet rooms for lounging, billiards, and a huge outdoor patio for mingling with new friends.

I like this place had a great tume but my biggest complaints was last night we went for the first time to this place... my husband and my bestfriend fiance we're wearing baseball caps and we're told they needed to remove them they had no problem doing so but when we walked in we saw all types of guys wearing ball caps... not cool of your going to tell one person to take it everyone should

You can't beat the Tavern for the night life in Ventura. If you are looking for the most popular and best time you can have at night on the weekends, this is your place to be. They have a wide selection of there own cocktails or you can request your own. They sometimes have DJ's on the weekends, but its pretty hard to find info on who is playing that night(You kind of just have to get lucky). Thursday nights are great for the college crowed. They have a somewhat limited selection of some basic, sometimes well stocked classic bears and liquors.

Cool scene. Many different rooms to hang out in. The live music was ok, but they should have shut off the house music while the band was playing. It's super confusing when 2 musics are playing at the same time.

The main bar at the Tavern is now a separate bar called Jezebel something. It features a bizarre mish mash of girly decorations, flower wallpaper, fruffy furniture. Maybe people want that but I much prefer the old beat up roadhouse feel. The back patio is still the same (which is the main attraction) and the front yard is looking better and now has seating which is nice in the summer.

We have fun every time. I drink wine here because I know what I'm getting. It's seriously vintage, but the patio is amazing. Fun!

I enjoyed my trip to California this weekend! I was hanging with some buddies and we all decided hit up The Tavern. I was not disappointed at all, I will definitely be coming back whenever I’m in town. Also Fernando, I think that’s what he name was .... he’s definitely a cutie and took very good care of my friends and I. Make sure you treat him well I expect to see him there on my next trip.

Very cool local spot, a historic Victorian house converted to a tavern with 3 separate bars, great outdoor seating and lots of different spaces to hang out. Whiskey selection is really great, tap selection is hit and miss but they usually have something local and Jordan's cocktails are great as well. Lots of character, check it out!

Bar hopped into this place, spoke to one of the security personnel and they have recently renovated the place. Love the concept of the different rooms inside. Patio definitely the place to hangout as they have literally open bar and movie projected on a wall. Love the vibe and the tacos smelled great

Always a great time with a great vibe! Prices are very fair for a real hotspot in Ventura! Gets extremely crowded on weekends but that's a lot of the fun though! There's always live music or a DJ as well! The tacos are great as well! Recently the bathrooms have been really messy so watch out for that!

One of my favorite places in Ventura for nightlife. Wonderful space for having fun with some friends. The have good food and drinks with the music being not too bad compared to the other bars around. I am looking forward to my next visit.

This is a really cool spot there's a lot going on in this pot but definitely very impressive I haven't tried the cruise but the drink selection was good and they have games up to certain hours. I would definitely bring a friend that has not been here yet it'll be a memorable night for them.

Came to visit out of town and had a jersey and and hat on, the guys upfront wouldn't let me in unless I took them off. Drinks were ok priced.

Overpriced drinks, hipsters everywhere, and decor that looks diseased. Don't be fooled as the food here is just to satisfy inspectors. This place is a bar. The staff are nice and the patio is large so that's the only reason to not 1 star.

Place is way too hipsterish for my tastes. Drinks are also rather expensive. On the positive side, it's pretty spacious with outdoor patio drinking.

The vibe is great! If you can afford it. They do a good job of maintaining a safe and clean please with good music, but 14$ for a mixed drink plus tip is (college student) not worth it. Great place for one hop on a night, great place to stick around if you have the money.

Really loved this place - felt like a upscale House Party - with each room having a unique atmosphere and feel. and multiple bars - if you go here, walk through each room and go upstairs and outside on the huge open space. we went on a Friday night and at 10pm it wasn't too bad, but by 11:30 they had a band and it got much more crowded - still a good time - will be back

didn't go. i haven't been there... .the web site has no club/ show info. what's the show cost/cover...show times/dates. dress code. size of the club, dance floor. parking. etc. ??? ..no one is driving 2 hours on show night to find this stuff out. if you book bands like Tommy Castro your web site has to be up to snuff... nuff said. hire a real web master. new clarification... maintain your own web site...not email or go somewhere to hunt down info.

Was with a friend that always raves about this place. We both were really disgusted with the photo booth. We're both teachers and as leaders of young girls this just isn't acceptable. Adult world especially. She put it well. It just doesn't match the place at all. Are they trying to attract perverts that poison girls and get them alone in there? Sketchy and weird! Heard that it's falling apart and going down hill and this is a tell tale sign. Trashy and degrading. Please change it and put something cool and edgy that doesn't make this place look like a prostitution house haha

I don't know why I keep going back to this place. This place has the worst bar service and the patrons of this bar are even worse. I feel like I'm in a speedy club. They did change the front bar area to a "speak easy," but there is no speak easy about it. Theain reason why I give this place one star is simple: fix the restrooms situation! They have porta potties! The lines for the restroom are so long, people leave and go outside to pee in the bushes. Seriously. It's what the bartender told me to do. This place is bad.

This place is such a 80-20. 80% very inattentive staff that doesn't seem to know how to tend a bar, and quite a few really unpleasant people. But 20% of the time you chat with a cool person or you can hear the music and it makes you forget what a chaotic mess you're in. $16 pre-tip for them to clumsily get 1/4 of your drink on the bar and they can't even fill the water dispenser after an hour(+?) for their patrons

I waited in line for over 40 minutes with a group of friends. By the time we got to the front of the line, the security singled me out and said "Get out of line. I don't want you here." Considering I was not intoxicated nor was I behaving poorly, I proceeded to stay in line not thinking he was referring to me. As I approach the entrance, he mentions it again. Finally, my group started going into the venue and I was the last one to get my ID checked. The security came up to me and said "I told you already. I do not want you here. Leave. We have other people to let in." Since it wasn't worth my time to argue with him considering the fact that he was being very hostile towards me, I ended up just leaving. Profiling at its finest. Will not be returning here.

This bar is unsafe for women. Two of their security guards have been using this bar to prey on women. My friend got hurt and we've heard from several others. Please be careful. There are a billion better bars in the area.

Single person restrooms equals loooong waits to pee. If you leave the establishment they won't let you back in even though advertised hours indicate still open. Second time I was told to leave because I blew out a couple candles.(i hate fire) Bouncers are ignorant. Very hostile environment. I've been bar hopping the past 15 years or so, all over the globe I might add. I'm extremely passive and have never been in a fight my entire life. This is the first place I have experienced hostility from the staff and have been asked to leave.... twice. Ive been more welcome in countries that don't even like americans. Maybe the bouncers at the tavern are just scared of me, intimidated by someone that dwarfs them.hahahaha I'm more than proud to be an American and serve this great country with pride. Unfortunately the Tavern staff treats people like furniture. I am ashamed to admit the Tavern is a part of our homeland.

Just Waited 45 minutes for an undercooked burger & fries & an overcooked unedible chicken sandwich with raw bacon. Definitely won't be back & really want my money & time wasted back. Thank God the garlic fries were ok.

So tonight I went to Tavern for the 2nd time, when I went to buy a beer for a friend I had my phone on me and as soon as I got the receipt I put down my phone on the bar and signed the receipt. I went to go take the beer to my friend and as soon as I noticed I lost my phone (within 30 seconds) I called my phone and it was ALREADY OFF. I looked EVERYWHERE .. at the bar (I even went to the bartender TWICE to ask if anyone returned a phone, they said no) I looked between the seats of the couches and under the couch TWICE it wasn’t there. (EVEN THOUGH I NEVER SAT THERE PRIOR TO LOSING IT) I went looking for the people that were around me when I lost it, they didn’t have it either. I got home and used Find My iPhone on my brother’s phone, apparently it was still at The Tavern. When I got back to The Tavern AOAS it was behind the couch. That’s doesn’t make ANY sense to me WHAT SO EVER. The place is sketch and so are the employees. The manager himself was being a sarcastic “sincere asshole” after I told him that I wasn’t even sitting on the couch. I’m NEVER going back there again.

Asked for an IPA "bartender" said $7 gave him a $20 bill and recieved $7 in change?? Black and white striped shirt with a red beanie on 12/28 around 1am, hope you get fired for trying to STEAL money from customers. Just because you "think" people are drunk doesnt mean they are, I'll never come back and I hope this reaches more people to OBSERVE the way these people handle your money. Terrible service. Whole staff was rude. Waited in line for 30 minutes at the bar while a bar back with a nose piercing walked by my friends and I multiple times with eye contact and still paid us no mind then a group of girls walk up and he immediately tends to them. I proceeded to ask him what the reason was and his response to me was “ leave if you don’t like it” then to top it off he asked my friend standing right next to me if I was his friend in a disrespectful way while rolling his eyes. I will never go to this horrible place again and would HIGHLY RECOMMEND ANYONE AND EVERYONE DO THE SAME!!!

My family took me there on my birthday we had kids with us and thought it was a restaurant. We were told we could go in but had to go in the back . We went through the empty rooms and to a empty back were people were hanging out found a table to be met by the manager to tell us it was too late for the kids to be in the restaurant that it was turning into a nightclub. Left the restaurant to find what look like just a few men just hanging out in the front yard no one seemed that professional or new the restaurants policies on children within the restaurant bar found staff very unprofessional unimpressed disappointed by the decor.
