Opinions de Lo Scoiattolo Via Pizzo Scalino
Very good, with many traditional dishes on the menu. Recommended if you're passing through Caspoggio and want to try local cuisine. The staff is also very friendly.
A truly beautiful place; I think it's one of the nicest places I've eaten in a mountain town. Friendly service. The food was very good. They also have pre-made menus with various dishes. I recommend ordering the ragù, which is always delicious in the mountains. For a dish, wine, and dessert, we paid around €25 each. We'll definitely be back.
A cool, sunny October day, a nice warm lunch is in order. Lo Scoiattolo welcomes us to its lovely veranda overlooking the mountains. We begin lunch with taroz and sciatt (perfect, piping hot and soft inside), followed by tagliatelle with fresh mushrooms and a minestrone. Also available are blueberry gnocchi with chanterelles, steamed mixed vegetables, and barley and grain soup. Excellent service, very fast (despite the busy restaurant), friendly, and reasonably priced. We'll be back (also for the homemade desserts).
Nice non pretentious restaurant/bar/gelateria.
A restaurant where a fresh, youthful, colorful atmosphere welcomes you with warmth and the friendliness and kindness of the staff provide the backdrop. The food is excellent and the menu is varied. The service is fast and precise. The bill of 60 euros for an appetizer, 2 first courses, a second course (all plentiful), and two coffees, a beer, and a water seems good to me and in line with the quality of the dishes. We returned a year later.... It did not disappoint expectations. The walnut tart is exceptional!!!!!!!!!
Inexpensive just amazing mountain food . Gentle and attentive service. Highly recommended
The food here has decent quality and big portion. The price is very reasonable.
A truly lovely place, with low prices for good food and very attentive and fast staff. The place is welcoming and has a great view. They have child seats (although a little uncomfortable), and dogs are welcome with a muzzle. There's also wheelchair and stroller access. The food and desserts are very good; if we ever pass through this city again, we'll definitely be back.
Lo Scoiattolo is a must-try every time we're in the area; we've already explored the entire menu. Several first and second courses are worth a try, but especially the Tzigoiner (called Zigonia here, beef and pancetta rolled on a wooden stick) and the tagliatelle with venison ragù, unforgettable. The risottos are also good, as are the Sciatt, pizzoccheri, and cured meats, especially the bresaola. The place may lack a mountain atmosphere, but it's well-kept and clean, and the outdoor garden is lovely in the warmer months. The staff is always very friendly and knowledgeable. A guarantee.
Very good
The best of Caspoggio!

Although we hadn't booked for lunch, we managed to find a place for two on the veranda. Warmly welcomed by the friendly and helpful staff, we ordered two appetizers, a first course, and a second course, all of which were delicious and looked inviting. The only thing that left a bad taste in our mouths was the dessert, as the frozen products were incomparable to the dishes we'd sampled at lunch. The value for money was more than satisfactory. In total, we spent €55.
Very nice
The quality/price ratio is truly exceptional, considering it's located on the main street of Caspoggio. The service is punctual and fast, and the waitresses are kind and helpful, even when it's busy. I disagree with what some reviewers have written about the atmosphere: in my opinion, however, the place is quiet, pleasant, and clean. The menu is varied, as is the selection of wines and beverages. The desserts are exceptional... I had a truly excellent strudel, made with shortcrust pastry (not puff pastry), according to the original recipe... The only real flaw is that it has little to no "typical" about it: if I were to take you there blindfolded, you'd have a hard time guessing you were in Caspoggio, or even in the mountains. This drastically lowers my rating, considering that, both in Caspoggio and in the surrounding villages, there are plenty of truly traditional restaurants. In any case, I'd recommend it for a quiet, well-priced evening.
We've been customers of this restaurant for generations, a place we've always enjoyed, and we chose it once again for a family lunch. Unfortunately, the experience was so bad that we were forced to leave without even sitting down. We had our Chihuahua, weighing less than 3 kg, with us, kept in his crate, properly locked and tied up, both with a normal leash and the one provided with the crate. The dog wasn't loose, wasn't bothering anyone, and wasn't posing any danger. Despite this, we were prevented from having lunch because the dog wasn't wearing a muzzle. Absurd, considering that muzzles aren't available for such small dogs (we're talking about a "little thing" weighing less than 3 kg). I repeat: the dog was in his crate and tied up. The result? We were vigorously removed from the restaurant simply because a dog measuring 20 cm and weighing less than 3 kg wasn't wearing a muzzle. In past years, we've always come with slightly larger dogs, and there's never been a problem. After this kind of treatment, I don't think we'll return, and it's a real shame, considering we were loyal and devoted customers. Despite modernity and accessibility, this kind of behavior is intolerable, especially in a place where tourists bring in work and money. A truly disappointing experience.
