We had slices (and spaghetti for the kids) and were quite impressed with the quality, friendliness of the staff, and decor; AJ's is one of best pizza places we've ever visited! Great work!
Affordable and Delicious pizza, order at the counter. Minimal Interaction with staff.
Fantastic pizza, available by the slice or the entire pizza, with a great outdoor seating area. The staff was very friendly and took care of our needs.
At AJ’s you can either order a slice or full pizza, so everyone can get what they want. Order and pay at the counter then sit and wait for them to bring your pizza to you. Very chill and family friendly environment. We haven’t been disappointed yet, all the pizza tastes so good, our favorite being the Meatball Parm.
We often go to AJs for a quick late night bite on the weekends. The pizza is always so good. We've had the chicken bacon ranch, BBQ chicken, margherita, and their version of a combination ( it has a lot of meat on it so we took a few off). It doesn't matter the flavor, the pizza is always on point. We even eat the crust ( if the crust isn't good we won't eat the ends). My son loves the pepperoni bricks too. The staff is always so friendly and service is fast. They have a shuffleboard table in the corner so we played while we waited for the pizza.
AJ's is one of my favorite casual downtown restaurants. They have great pizza, they have a balanced ratio of pizza dough to sauce to cheese/toppings, huge salads and their garlic knots are always great. Lots of speciality pizzas, but if you just like cheese and pepperoni they do that well too. Always good service and fun atmosphere.
For my first time here I love the food and an amazing experience everyone was kind
This pizza ........holy hell....looks amazing.....tastes amazing. New York style pizza... Costs me 16.46 after tip. Slices bigger than Sbarro. I am so glad I stopped in. The reviews were so right. Always eat local! I'm in town from St Louis for a few days and couldn't stay in the hotel room so I was wanted to walk around and love pizza. Saw the place and Checked the reviews on Google before I went in.
I got a meatball canzone and it was really good. One of the best canzones I've had in a long time
This pizza place sells a huge variety of pizzas and you can buy by the slice too! The single slices are huge and the crust has the perfect crunch.
Our favorite pizza place in Manhattan! My daughter loves the garlic knots.
Great date night place, very welcoming and honestly all the food is spectacular 😁
Best slice of pizza in town.... and the knots are worth going for by themself too. The patio is really cool too
Pizza was good as well. Lol The staff was amazing. It was my first time there and service was more than good. Will definitely go back when I return to work there again.
Great place! We love the food! We love about an hour away but have been driving over about once a week. Parking can get difficult so we try to go when they first open or between 2-4. I wish they offered speciality pizza by the slice on Saturdays. The specialty pizzas are a must try!
Location and the pizza are incredible. I really enjoy being able to relax downtown and know that I can just walk down the street and grab some pizza any time I want 😋. The other thing I didn't know is they have the best salads in all of Manhattan! They allow you to substitute by removing and adding anything you desire. My personal favorite is the Bay ridge without the pepperoncinis and olives and then adding chicken, bacon, and eggs ❤️
Excellent pizza with high quality ingredients. The dining area is nicely organized with lots of room and a great staff. I highly recommend AJ’s in Manhattan.
Nice staff took my order and did fantastic. I was in town visiting friends and we were downtown and hungry slice of NY pizza in Kansas with beer...yes & yummy... Did order from front counter- got my food and it was piping hot after a short wait. My order was accurate and I definitely will return when in the situation of hunger and in the area. I really felt valued with my interaction with the staff. They were pleasant and smiling....that goes a long way! Thank you again for being awesome. Respectfully, Bryan Yukon Oklahoma
A nice visit on a cold Kansas night. My wife and I shared a small order of Buffalo Wings, and then we each had our own large slice of pizza. The slices weren't traditional NY Style pizza, but they were hearty and filling none the less. Oh, we both also had side salads, which, again, were hearty, filling, and tasty. The beer menu was appealing also, but maybe next time. Next time I'm in Manhattan, KS I will gladly stop by AJ's again. I strongly recommend them.
Came in here on a whim to try this place out. Intended to be a carry out order, but showed up earlier than anticipated. Sat down and decided to grab a drink. Turned into eating my dinner and having a couple more. Enjoyed the conversation with the bartender and those at bar. Pizza was tasty at bar, next day cold out of fridge, and reheated in the oven. Will try to make it back to this facility and grab another pie and good company!
Aj's pizza is a great local place to grab some pizza. They have a great atmosphere to hang out and talk to family or friends. I had the chicken bacon ranch pizza and it was amazing! The garlic knots are also buttery and garlic-y! I would definitely go back for either a slice or a whole pie. They also have a nice selection of alcoholic drinks on tap and bottled.
One of our favorite pizza places in MHK. Great for take-out and also dine-in. Also recommend their cheesecake 💖
Such amazing pizza! My wife and I each got a slice and shared a side salad which was more than enough for us. A little garlic bread roll came with our salad and it was absolutely amazing. Apparently they make them into sliders with pepperoni and cheese. Next time I go I'm going to ask if they'd make them with Canadian bacon, cheese and some white onions for me. That'd be an amazing lunch! The staff is very friendly and even brought out a bowl of water for our dog!
The BEST restaurant in Manhattan, KS. Hands down. I’ve been a couple times, but I recently ordered the large spinach chicken alfredo. The pizza crust was crunchy but perfectly cooked, and the sauce was creamy. Their ranch is the best I’ve ever had! Definitely recommend trying this place out. I will always visit when I’m in the area.
The classic pizzas and the pizza bricks are amazing! Definitely a wonderful environment for some casual dining.
Since I have been stationed at Fort Riley this has been a solid staple. I love the pizza, it has a chewy new york style crust, and the salads are a great deal. Usually my wife and I eat for under 20 dollars and have plenty left over.
One of the best pizza joints in Manhattan. All of the options that I've ordered has been great. Highly recommend if you're craving pizza.
Pizza delicious, subs amazing. If you haven't gone already I'm judging you. The meatball sub is honestly the best meatball sub I've had. It's also the most messy but my stomach was happy and hey there's napkins. If you get a whole one make sure you are hungry. The bun gets lathered in like this garlic butter. The meatballs are seasoned so well and are Hella juicy. The marinara sauce- thick and delicious. The cheese? Stringy and needed. The Pizza crust is chewy and has a nice crunch. The amount of sauce and cheese ratio is excellent. We got the meatball parm pie. If you cant tell I really love their meatballs. Had the meatball sub and sat down outside. It was on a Saturday afternoon so the wait time was long! But so freaking worth it for that food. The pizza was ordered to go on a Wednesday Night and I ordered it drove there and it was ready. 15 minutes. So that was perfect! Parking on a Saturday or Friday is hell I do not recommend trying to park at their designated space on those days. Weekdays tend to be easier. But Friday and Saturday? Forget about it park a bit aways and just walk there.
Great parking, great food and great staff! Was working out of town in Manhattan and everyone I spoke to raved about this place! Now, I get it! I’ll be working there again this week and plan on visiting again. GREAT Pizza! Definitely a must go!
This was a wonderful pizza place! The food was piping hot and the calzones we got were stuffed full of toppings. The flavor was spot on and is now a new favorite place for us to stop when we are in town. The bathrooms were clean and the staff was friendly. Can't wait to come back soon!
AJ’s NY Pizzeria hit all the right notes quick service, friendly staff, and hot, flavorful slices with that perfect New York–style crust. We tried the Hawaiian Delight, Pizza Blanco with Spinach, and Manhattan Margherita, and each one was spot on. The sauce was amazing...rich, a little sweet, and full of basil flavor that ties it all together. Honestly, if you come to Manhattan and don’t eat at AJ’s… did you even go to Manhattan?
We love pizza so when we were in Manhattan, KS we read all the reviews to find the best pizza in this town! AJ's Pizza had the most positive reviews on GoogleMaps, so we tried it. AJ's Pizza was very good pizza. The garden salads were big and very fresh and the ranch dressing was very good! The staff were very helpful and friendly. The place was pumping when we arrived and the atmosphere was great. Our family loved the pizza! We will be back to AJ's Pizza the next time we are in town!
Get the garlic knots!!! I like to get the individual slice with a couple different toppings. The calzones are good also. The cheesy bread has good flavor. The staff is friendly but sometimes it’s hard to hear then when it’s busy and crowded. Tonight, we were sitting at the table tonight and a young worker came over to restock the napkins, it was a very odd interaction. She literally leaned it within 6 inches to our face and didn’t say excuse me or anything……. Just very odd….
Nice local pizza place. Single slices are LARGE. Our eyes were a little bigger than our stomachs, we ordered several slices of different things we wanted to try and ended up lots of leftovers. The BBQ Chicken, 18th and 8, Big Apple and Hawaiian were good. Our daughter got the grilled cheese and enjoyed it as well. She barely finished her slice (she's a pre-teen). It was pretty busy, but we didn't wait very long. Staff was excellent and helpful. The NYC theme everywhere was cool, but the pizza was more brick oven type. The thing that really surprised us was the affordability. We'll be back the next time we're in town for sure.
Good place and setting. Can choose to eat inside or out. Pizzas, pastas, calzones and sliders are create your own. Few choice of things to eat but plenty of ingredients! P.S. tried it again, and the food is quality. The cheesecake is one of the richest I've had. Could not finish it in one sitting. Delicious
AJ's is always great, my local go-to for pizza. Love the atmosphere there as well, staff is always friendly and prompt.

This place is amazing! It has a lot of options, the side salads are big, and the prices are terrific! We all had side salads and all the pizzas can be ordered by the slice.

Got the margherita pizza with additional toppings at lunch and ate on the large outdoor patio. Some of our part also got a salad. Everything was delicious
We ordered the calzones which were excellent and the garlic knots which also were good. The girlfriend normally doesn't dip her stuff in marinara but she loved the sauce so much that she couldn't …
For new york style pizza its as close as you can get being so far from the source. Will say it does have a good flop need a bit better cheese pull solid crust. Will say some of their other pies are also pretty good!
Cool place that serves a decent pie. The lack of use of a pizza oven is the only reason it gets 4 instead of 5 stars. If you expect NY style, it's expected it's done on a flat steel pizza oven, not a conveyor belt oven. The smooth metal adds the best crust treatment. These guys miss that one element which is huge.
So the pizza is really good and the atmosphere is great, but the napkins are SO small and that kind of really sucks! I request they invest in some larger napkins so I don’t have to use 20 napkins for just one slice of pizza
I really feel like my pizza could've been cooked longer. The white sauce was quite flavorless and I was disappointed there wasn't spinach 😋. The bricks were quite good and properly cooked. The cashier was also very helpful and nice.
Good pizza at a resonable price. They had several beers on tap including the Lagunitas IPA which is one of my go to beers with pizza. They offer table service after you order at the counter. If you go with your family like I did it is cheaper to go ahead and order a full pizza rather that buy by the slice. My family of four ordered the Large Hawaiian pizza and we all ate our fill and even has one slice left. They have a nice patio and plenty of window seating to sit and people watch.
Local Tastes Great Sometimes, its great to try something that’s not the run of the mill or part of a restaurant chain. At times, you have to shake up your taste buds to something new. AJ’s NY Pizzeria did just that. After work, I decided to give this local shop a chance. I ordered one cheese brick stuffed with pepperoni, and one slice of Chicken Bacon Ranch pizza. The brick arrived fresh from the oven served with a side of sauce. Let’s just say next time I’ll order a set of four! The pizza slice was satisfying not only in taste but in size for the money. Those two items filled me up. Overall: I will return, not only for more bricks but to try the BBQ Chicken Pie.
Menu is very vast and unique. I had the hardest time deciding which slices to get. I settled on the grilled cheese pie and jalapeño popper. Both excellent choices. Had the toasted ravioli also. Very reasonably priced, excellent customer service as well. I generally look for pizza whenever visiting a different city and AJ’s did not disappoint. That’s the reason both pizzas have been bitten, lol.
So let me start by saying it's a college town. It's at the edge of that part of town verses smack dab in the small tight streets. The staff were very friendly . Now it was slow when I came in so not sure how they are when it's a game night or weekend which I'm sure they are slammed. Now Hunter took my order and was so helpful and informative and didn't let my eyes be bigger than my stomach lol. Jackson was friendly and listen to me chatter and explain about the RFTW (comes to junction City every May) . Friendly open environment and family friendly. My food smelled great and looked great. I'd give 4.5 if they existed cause my only complaint was the sauce was a tiny bit too sweet for NY style and tiny bit off spice level wise. Other than that wasn't burnt bottom and folded (the NY style test!) the inside was nice but the outside patio was great on a beautiful weather night. Music and lights all around. A mural on the wall to see and people watching ability. There's parking on the back and front sides. I can't compare to other 'local' pizza places in the area but I'd recommend AJs to anyone no matter who you are! I took a video of the outside and the patios and street since not much on Google but seems to need to be cut in half it's too long. Will add later
Pizza was pretty decent. Sweeter sauce, so if that's not your thing, know that going in. The staff was... a mixed bag lol. I asked for silverware and was told just "no". I thought she was joking as I'd literally just watched her walking with some, so I explained why I needed it. Then she finally explained that they didn't have any clean (which happens, it was just off-putting the way she answered initially). Super cool looking place, though! If you want pizza that isn't a chain restaurant, give this spot a try. Not crazy priced, decent food, and neat decor.
Love the pizza! Always worth the wait, but do be prepared for a short wait. If you're ordering carry out I would recommend calling. I have not had good experiences ordering online. Just collected a pizza tonight without my toppings but sadly didn't check until I got home. Also when going to pickup, plan to arrive early because you will wait before someone can serve you to pick up. Edit: business reached out to let me know they're updated their online ordering process soon, so that's really great to hear! Dude was great to talk to and solution oriented. Great business!
The garlic knots were delicious and so was the pizza despite the pizza sauce being a bit sweeter than what've I liked to be. The calzone was delicious and it was worth the 15-minute wait. The inside is decorated like a NY-subway station sort of since the staff will bring out signs with NY street signs to mark your order if you dine-in.
This is a counter service pizza shop. Pizza is available by the slice or the pie. It has a ton of topping options at a reasonable price. The food was great, fast, cooked fresh. My wife and I enjoyed our lunch very much
Had lunch at AJ's. I knew when we got out of the car we made a great choice! We could smell the pizza immediately. We had a half "8 & 18" and half "Hawaiian ". So good! It came out quicker than I expected and we were happy. Sitting there smelling the pizzas while hungry built the anticipation. The pizza was so good. Staff was friendly, the place was clean. They also have a large outside dining area. I recommend AJ's and would return for sure.

Cool place, garlic knots were good, but could’ve done without red sauce on a chicken bacon ranch pizza.
I went in this restaurant several months ago to pick up an order. I was ignored. Another customer came in and they went to help him. I said I was here waiting. The only think I could say is- it was because of the color of my skin. I wouldn’t not return to a place whose staff doesn’t want to serve minorities.
So, not my favorite pizza place, but I've only been there twice. The garlic knots are excellent, very large and buttery, and a decent price. The pizza is ok, inconsistent on taste. The crust is crispy and very plain, which I like. They have a decent sized menu and a nice, casual atmosphere. It's located just across from the mall on the west/Poyntz Ave side and has a large shaded outdoor eating area.
Pizza was ok. Staff was friendly. The whole place was clean. Two slices and a fountain drink was 14 before tip. They do slices of any of their pies. It seemed odd that they would have every pie on the menu available every day. Turns out they can cook them a slice at a time. They have pre-made doughs with sauce on them in big racks visible. It is probably efficient that way, but it certainly affects quality. I will likely not go back, but if someone invited me there, I wouldn't turn it down. If your in the mood for a single slice of a very specific pie, this might be your place.
You order at the counter. I asked how the drinks worked since I have never been here. She said they are all the same. They ask you if you want to tip when you pay. I opted to tip and when our pizza was brought to the table we asked for ranch. The waitress then brought two tiny containers for a table of 5. We asked for some more and she was awfully sassy. I can see why they ask for the tip ahead of time. The food was good but the service is not great.
Not quite NY style pizza. Maybe with a Midwest twist. But it was good. The sauce was ok, service was adequate
Pretty mid pizza. I mean there really isn't a good pizza option in Manhattan so AJ's is really the only choice. sauce is sweet which i dont personally enjoy but the rest of what they offer is good …
Very aggressive asking for tips even on carryout orders. Very tacky and weird. The pizza is average at best. Pizza in Manhattan is all fast food quality.
Came from out of town to visit family and stopped in this local shop. Nice atmosphere but by far the worst pizza I ever had. The crust was comparable to frozen Ellios pizza from the market. The sauce was horrible. We also ordered garlic knots by far the worst garlic knots ever. This place has the right atmosphere and they are welcoming but the name shouldn’t have anything with NY in it. The owner needs to go to NY and taste real pizza.
Tastes like cardboard. Rather have a tortilla with sauce and cheese
Everything was reheated and the pizza crust was too thin; it was mostly cheese and sauce. Very disappointed.
I'm here and super disgusted by the absence of masks, hand sanitizer, and generally anything hygiene related (by both post and PRE COVID standards). If I didn't have hungry, tired kids with me I'd have walked out immediately. Food looks fine, but the BBQ Chicken Pizza tastes like pre-cooked frozen-aisle grilled chicken with KC Masterpiece dumped on it. Icing on this cake was complete disregard for the shuffleboard rules and allowing 2 sniveling, unmasked pre-tweens to play the game without adult supervision; all this AFTER I had denied my own children because I wouldn't be able to supervise. I wish I had more hands, so I could give this place 4 Thumbs Down. Would be better if it was still a shuttered Schlotzky's.
Dont eat here if you like food with taste. Thank God they sell alcohol because you have to be drunk like most of these customers were to eat this mess. Horrible food. No taste. Left hungry. Refused to give a refund on all the food we couldn't eat. How do you refund $10 for a $12.99 order of wings?
Blue cheese was one of the toppings I picked. A few cold bits were put on my pizza after it was already cooked. Besides that, the pizza was not good in general. Easily the worst pizza I have ever bought at a restaurant.
The pizza is horrible. Not sure what style they are trying to capture but it's a complete miss. Their dough is soft and chewy, their margherita/cheese pizza is horribly drenched in so much garlic (and I love garlic) that it overpowers anything else. They should learn to make pizza before selling it. Easily the worst pizza place in town.
