Best fish/shrimp and chips I have ever had!! Great quality seafood, cooked perfectly and reasonably priced. Super friendly service(even before my mishap)… I left my entire purse after a long day of moving and didn’t realize it until an hour and a half later. When I went back an hour after closing there was the sweetest note on the door saying “ I have your purse don’t worry, here is my cell number” I called and he was out with his family but offered to come back after he was done. He met us at 10:30 at night, just to get my belongings back to me!! It’s people like this, that still give you faith in humanity. Thanks a million Hector. That was above and beyond. Forever grateful

First time that I've been here and I am thoroughly impressed. I was greeted with a smile and the cashier had a very friendly demeanor. My food was prepared fresh and it was perfectly cooked. I didn't have to ask for tartar sauce or vinegar because the cashier offered it to me. The decorum was exactly the way a fish and chips establishment should be. I loved it Service and product like this is very hard to come by. I'll definitely be coming back.

Have you ever walked by a restaurant and the smell was so good you just had to check it out? Well that was my experience last night. Food was delicious. Cocktail sauce tastes homemade. They have daily specials. I ordered the 2 of fish, 2 shrimp, 2 zucchini and chips. It was incredible

updated 9/2/25 They are called Alaskan Fish and Chips but they are just as good if not better than H-Salt. We always come here and they never disappoint. We always get Fish and Chips, Shrimp, and a side order of Zucchini. One of the few true H Salts around. if you like fish and chips than this is your spot. They get busy spuraticaly but you'll get your food in 10min.

Classic fish and chips! It's been years since I've had fish and chips. My husband and I happened to be driving by and saw Alaska Fish and Chips, so we stopped to check it out.. I'm glad we did. It was delicious! We would definitely come back! The place was clean the food was good and the people were nice!

Simple fish and chips, but done consistently. I got the London platter and the fish was made to order. It took a while so I had to wait, but they were good. French fries were good as well. Reminder that they ask you if you want salt so ask them for salt. When you're sitting down you get malt vinegar, ketchup, salt, and hot sauce if you ask. Make sure to ask for hot sauce. Interior is kind of hot, so ask for iced water. The fryers are always on because again, everything is made to order. They have heat lamps, but because people come in consistently there's a lot of food turnover, food getting to customers before the food gets lame under the heat lamp. Slightly cramped so if you've got a lot of items on you e.g. bookbags, backpacks or such it can be hard to sit down and move around. Ordered Combo C to go, but because it was sitting in a bag for some hours it got slightly mushy. Had to reheat in air fryer/convection oven. Reminder that this food is best served hot and fresh, if you need it to go, eat it sooner rather than later. You don't see the Combo C in my review because I ate it, lol.

Have yet to try everything on the menu; however, the fish and scallops are perhaps our favorite items so far. Of both times I’ve had it, the batter was fresh and you can tell the oil was not old! Golden and crispy as it should be. Will try this more often since we recently discovered it!

But, again if like me, you say screw the budget and order up some tasty seafood deep fried to the perfect crispness. On to savor the flakey white fish that melts in your mouth. I had driven by a few times and finally stopped and ordered. It's small, appeared clean and has a few tables for eating there but I opted to take it home. Including me, there were four others ordering yet the staff handled it beautifully. And staff that night was two people only, the woman taking & assisting filling orders and the cook. They deserve Job Well Done kudos! My order was delicious. I ordered a combo with scallops and shrimp. I was bummed to be informed their combos didn't include a drink. I would have to purchase it separately. They offered drink in cans, bottles etc., but I decided I'd have something at home. Once there, I opened up my food and wow, just as I remembered! The scallops were my favorite. Not overdone, just sweet and tender. I recommend this H. Salt and hope they continue with much business.

I went here on Fri July 19, 2019. I ordered the 2 piece fish with chips. Food was made to order, so it was fresh, as was the oil it was cooked in. Cashier was friendly. Cook greeted me also - same cook for as long as I can remember & I've lived near this store for 25.5 yrs. Unfortunately, they no longer use the malt vinegar of old & in my opinion, that & the batter made it "H. Salt Fish & Chips" rather than "just fish & chips". While the food was good, it just wasn't the same.... I've seen reviews from a few years ago complaining that they re used the oil. We used to go here a lot. Then one day I went there several years ago & the food was terrible. Different batter or re used oil or both? This is no longer the case. The only problem now is that the malt vinegar just isn't up to par.

This place can use some updates. There’s seating for you to eat but nowhere to wash your hands. I’m allergic to shellfish and they cook everything in the same oil. This is just me I would cook my customers food in a new pot of oil to avoid cross contamination. I can therefore use the oil to cook other foods as well, just a thought. The prices are reasonable otherwise, my daughter enjoyed her food.

It's a wonderful fish and chip place. I drive Uber between San Diego and Los Angeles quite often and it's my regular stopping point. If you remember the old age salt Esquire fish and chips, it's the same thing. Different owners different name, but the food in the experience is the same. The fish is my favorite thing but the onion rings are awesome. One down point is that they charge for extra sauce. It absolute minimum they should give you a little ranch dressing with your onion rings. They're very good that way. If you want extra tartar for your fish it cost a little more also. Other than that the food and the service is outstanding.

I got sick after eating half of fish and onion rings. It was so greasy that my hands were so shiny . My grandparents even complained it's blan food needs seasoning and was way too greasy we threw the food away . Fries were very limpy. And fish is over cooked and mushy . I'll stick to shooner or later restaurant for my fish and chips it's pricey but worth it
