What a beautiful experience! I’ve been coming here for years. Staff are so welcoming and this is authentic Indian! The waitstaff especially Angel, are knowledgeable and will accommodate your spice level and any questions you might have. Save room for rice pudding and there is even backyard for late night eats with a chill vibe!

Hello there, I would like to take the time to share the wonderful experience I had my first time ordering food from this totally awesome restaurant! I would like to point out that my neighbors recommended me to Saffron! I am taking about MULTIPLE neighbors who were so hooked on the delicious food and amazing service! I was starving today and decided to give it a try. I called to get my food delivered at my house. Upon calling, the kindest gentleman by the name of SAIFUL is the one who took my order. I told him that I am a first time client and that I was recommended by all my neighbors who were beyond satisfied with this incredible place! He was extremely delighted to hear the compliments and then proceeded with my order. Since I love spicy food I went for my all time favorite Lamb Vindaloo! I really appreciated that though SAIFUL felt I was very familiar with Indian food he still kindly gave me heads up that dish in particular was spicy. He was extremely professional, very amicable and beyond kind! Since I’m such a foodie I’ve asked him about the portion of the rice and he offered an extra one on the house! Now that’s what I call top notch service! He followed my instructions meticulously and gave me a time frame of when my food would get delivered. I had to ask his name as I couldn’t wait to taste that food but most importantly give the greatest review as he truly deserves all the praise and recognition!!!!! As I expressed to him, I never fail to leave a review when I am satisfied with a service! His kindness truly made my day and surely speaks volumes on the overall professionalism and awesomeness of Saffron restaurant! When my food arrived, I was almost in tears to notice that SAIFUL not only gave me that extra rice but also offered some mango lassi on the house and some kind of vanilla ice cream. He truly surpassed my expectations and standards! Now I see why all my neighbors keep ordering from Saffron and highly recommended for me to give it a try! Great food, great service, and mind you this was a takeout!!! I can only imagine how amazing my experience would be when I will dine in! I honestly cannot wait! I also love that my delivery came with a little beautiful pamphlet of their restaurant! Literally giving me ideas of my next order already! The lamb chops I see on the pamphlet look mouthwatering! All in all I really would like to thank SAIFUL for his hospitality and kindness! I sincerely appreciate the undeniable great service! As promised, I had to drop a few words for this business to keep growing! I will more than definitely recommend all my friends to Saffron! A great business is always recognized word to mouth! I cannot thank my neighbors enough for recommending me to my new go to Indian restaurant! I’ve attached below a picture of the little souvenir I took from this experience!!!! Namely SAIFUL!!!!! Loved this place! They gave us a free cheddar naan which was delicious, and the prices were relatively cheap for the amount we received. I will say it’s a bit snug seating wise but 10/10 when it’s not crowded.

Such a nice and surprise finding Saffron!. I ordered Sagg Paneer. It’s the best I ever had. Soft, creamy, perfect cheese inside. I also enjoy the papad and spiced sauces too! I literally can “drink” them! The dessert, Kheer is amazing as well! Absolutely recommended! 🤩

Review is about vegetarian dinner experience. The food, we ordered, was actually good. Malai kofta, saag paneer, lachha parathas. Spice level well regulated, per requested expectation. Lachha parathas had much less shortening than we are accustomed to; but were still flaky and fresh. Coming to think of it, a healthier option than the oil dripping ones. Taste of preparations, we ventured to consume, was ideally conforming to palates in the process of exploring Indian flavors, just short of ethnically preferred bold profiles. Environment was relaxing with appealing ambient and accent lighting. Layout of ~34 diner seating, in 2s & 4s is smart, too. Well above Astoria standards. Our server was attentive and professional, offered worthwhile inputs. Overall vibe was pleasant; we would definitely recommend this place. Then, why 4 Stars: ‘Saffron’ is half-way down fine dining experience. Menu is commonplace; some signature dish, some differentiator, will elevate the profile. For a licensed restaurant, beverage offerings and pairings should probably be showcased better (we didn’t go for any spirits, though). Paper napkins don’t cut fine dining, please think in terms of table linens. We mean good, hope it’s taken in that spirit. Parking is a perpetual problem in Astoria. One should think twice before driving in. Till then, this place will be a local favorite, at best. Or, provision it.

Ambience is the best. Perfect for a date night dinner. Food taste was okay. Service was below par. Too late for everything. I understand that only one server was available. Ordered Shahi Paneer and Chana masala. It was sweet and and Chana masala was too much with tomato paste. Not authentic. The complimentary chutney and papas was good. Price was reasonable.

I'm pure South Indian. You may want to consider replacing your chef who is familiar with South Indian cuisine or revising your menu to better represent South Indian food, as I found the taste subpar disappointing.
