One of those hidden-almost-imperceptible spots in Campos Eliseos-Polanco area. Delicious tortas, any of them. The same recipes and the same amazing service since my first visit there (1997). The fact that it operates inside a Miscelanea adds to the legend and romanticism.

Tortas a la plancha I've known these tortas for many years. It's a peculiar place because it says Tortas la Samaritana on the outside. It's also a small shop, but I think they've done better with selling tortas, and people find them very well... there's a great variety, and I'll leave a photo of what's available and their prices... I especially like the Milanese with leg and Manchego cheese. There are tables outside where you can eat your torta. They seem expensive to me, and they're not very big. The problem is that they're in Polanco, and that might be why they're priced that way. 80 pesos a torta seems steep to me.

The tortas are okay, just okay, nothing special. This place is an old shop; I was told they've been selling tortas for over 50 years. I'd call them basic. In Mexico City, there are countless places with better, bigger, more varied, and much cheaper tortas. I think if you live in the area, it might be an option in a pinch, but don't go out of your way to eat here. The place is run-down and not very clean; it's a pretty basic shop. Tortas start at $55, and the recommended one with breaded steak, sausage, and Manchego cheese is $80. Try them, and you probably won't be back for a long time; they're completely forgettable.
