Very delicious and affordable sushi house! It's a small place with a slightly limited menu compared to other sushi restaurants but still very much recommended! Loved the spicy lobster roll! Service is fast and nice area.

This is my go to sushi spot on my lunch break. The staff is very warm and treats you like family. I recommend any of their dishes. I usually get the best box of the day, or the sashimi sampler. Would give 10 stars if possible.

I’ve been going to this place for years with my family, friends, and dates. I have never been disappointed. The service and quality of sushi is amazing. Each fish (especially the nigiri) feels like it melts in your mouth and all the specialty rolls are amazing.

With literally thousands of Japanese eateries crowded in the east bay, it's rather amazing that Angel Fish still holds its place without losing its touch. With literally thousands of Japanese eateries crowded in the east bay, it's rather amazing that Angel Fish still holds its place without losing its touch. The service was above average. The Sushi was fresh and delicious. However we chose this restaurant because of a Groupon. When we arrived we were informed they do not work with Groupon. Not a problem, Groupon refunded us, and gifted us $10 credit. It was just a small disappointment to not have a restaurant honor their commitment.

Food here is awesome. The happy hour menu gives a decent discount and worth checking out, especially for sharing a bunch of appetizers. Sashimi and rolls are especially good. Parking is plentiful and easy.

We visited on a Sunday night and were surprised at how busy they were. We were warned that they just got slammed and the food may take a while. They also told us they ran out of rice. You're a sushi restaurant - how do you run out of rice? If that happens, you walk next door to safeway and buy some more. H and I shared tempura, the seared tuna salad and two very small rolls plus a few rounds of sake. The food was fresh and delicious but the portions are getting smaller while the prices are getting larger. Understnd the economy is changing. It was yummy but not much food for $80.

Best sashimi and miso soup I’ve had in a long time bar none. Came back to Angel Fish the next night for their sashimi and miso soup. The difference was staggering. Their miso soup came out tasting like plastic and was not hot. The house sake was hotter than the soup! I told the server this and she took it back but did not offer an alternative, or even a “try again”. Their sashimi was a good portion, but was not the same top quality that I had at Bluefin the night before. All in all I’m sorry to say I’ll probably only go to Bluefin Sushi Thai the next time I’m in town.

It was dry and didn't have much flavor. The end of one roll had nothing but lettuce and what I assume were shrimp legs that were burnt and had no meat. I picked them out. The mixed tempura was just okay as well. I will not be coming back.

My family has been here a few times now as it's close to our house. We want to like it but have been disappointed every time. The food is ok (typically we get teryiaki meats and simple rolls), but we always feel like it's too expensive for what you get compared to other sushi restaurants in the area. They like to serve potato salad instead of rice with the meals which is very strange, and the meats often have lots of gristle and skin. I don't think we'll go again any time soon unless they change owners.

First I just want to say, I have been going to Angel Fish since I moved to Alameda (almost 20 years ago now ) because it was my and my family’s favorite sushi spot. Which is why I’m so sorry to leave this review after so many years of loving this establishment, but our experience today was very very bad. We left feeling worried we might have food poisoning after not even being able to finish our food. We ordered a bento boxes and the tempura shrimp was cold on the inside, my son said his katsu was rubbery and he wasn’t sure if he should continue eating it. The sushi rolls we shared (spicy tuna and rainbow roll) not only looked as though they were not fresh, but were warm and just tasted off. When I came in February this year, the food was already feeling off quality-wise but I hoped it was just a day they were short-staffed. Today was an indication that something has fundamentally changed. I can honestly say I would not have gotten this sushi for $5 dollars if I had seen it at a grocery store and that I’ve had $10 grocery store sushi that tasted and looked fresher than what we got today (Our bill today for 3 people was ($100+). I hope to see this change soon as I would love to have the old Angel Fish, that I and my family have loved for so many years, back. As of now, the quality of the food is not only not worth the price, but is genuinely concerning.
