Highly recommend putting this hidden gem spot to the top of your list! Come for the Chongqing noodles and stay for everything else! The house spicy braised beef Taiwan noodles offer a warming and spicy broth with Sichuan peppers, and firm wheat noodles, tender bok choy, and a marbled braised beef that melts in your mouth. The smashed cucumber salad swimming in a spicy sweet black vinegar and crushed chili sauce will cool your palate and leave you hungry for more! The sweet and sour spare pork ribs are delicious savory side that are bite size and unctuous. The house made pork and cabbage dumplings are delicate and stuffed with plump and juicy meat. Everything we have had is a delicious! The staff is incredibly kind, hospitable, and welcoming. Large spacious patio is great for big groups and families as well! Very kid-friendly too!
This place is tucked away on Park Street and is definitely a hole-in-the-wall restaurant that serves no-frills Chinese food. The atmosphere is quiet and casual, making it a comfortable spot for a low-key meal. One of the must-haves to order here is the cucumber salad. We also tried the zhajiangmian and the braised pork over rice bowl, both of which were very tasty with a lot of flavor. What I appreciated most was the portion sizes; they're satisfying without leaving you overly full. The service was really good, with staff who are very helpful in guiding you through the menu. The restaurant recently changed ownership, which seems to have improved the overall experience. The pricing is very affordable, especially given how expensive eating out has become these days – this place offers the best value. I'd highly recommend it for anyone looking for a tasty and affordable meal while craving Chinese food. A few things to note: street parking is the easiest option in the neighborhood
Got the spicy beef noodle soup + century egg on tofu. Also got dumplings in chili oil on the side. The food hit just right and I definitely think this place is a hidden gem. They got the perfect chew on the knife-cut noodles and the owner's decades of practice definitely can be tasted from the flavorful broth. Mind you, most noodle shops around town have a very bland or run-of-the-mill broth, but they take their time here to make it right. The owner is also very cordial and offered free vegetables when I said I love eating bok choy. Definitely would recommend checking this place out!
A hidden GEM! The food is incredibly fresh and flavorful - all hand made noodles, dumplings - everything from scratch. The owner Monica let me try her delicious cucumber salad and beef. She was so warm and personable, her family has been in the restaurant business for years. I’m surprised this place isn’t constantly packed. She even customized my soup to make it spicy 🥹🫶🏼 I found a new staple spot and will be bringing my family here!
My wife was out of town and the kids were with the Grandparents and I had a craving for Chinese Soup Noodles, so after researching I decided to visit Chong Qing Noodle House. The restaurant is no frills, almost having diner vibes to it. Service is very friendly and responsive… Now to the food… I ordered the Crushed Cucumber with Garlic to start and the Pickled Veggies Shredded Pork Noodles with Medium spice. The Cucumbers are a 10! So good and would triple order it. The noodles are a solid 9! The noodles you can tell are freshly made and the broth is solid. The spice covers up a lot of the taste, which is a bit of a shame because on its own I think it would be very good. I’ll be coming back to try other offerings as the food is authentic and tasty!
This place is absolutely delicious, waitress gave us recommendations and told us what was good, and she was completely right. The Taiwanese braised beef noodle soup had extremely tender beef and was absolutely delicious. The star of the show was definitely the noodles though, they were fresh and chewy. Absolutely delicious
Wow. Just wow. Authentic & delicious!! Hand made noodles and just so much more. This spicy cucumber salad was so good we even dipped the dumplings in the sauce they came in. Chef was super nice and recommended a few items. Friendly, affordable, FIRE! I’ll be back
Finally a good Taiwanese place in Alameda. The beef soups are excellent, but really their hand pulled noodles are what make the soup dishes real stupendous. The woodear salad or the cucumber salad are perfect t cold parings to go with the spicy soups. Big outside area that is great for warmer months when they run the BBQ and cozy inside eating space as well. One of the best restaurants I’ve been to in Alameda
Their beef noodle soup with the hand made noodles is delicious. I happy I finally tried this place and it’s so close to me. The wonton in chili oil is also delicious. The food is fantastic.
Without a doubt my new favorite Chinese restaurant in the Bay, and I’ve thoroughly explored Oakland & SF Chinatown! We got the #8 (Taiwan beef brisket noodles) at the highest spice level (it’s really not spicy at all) with their hand pulled noodles and oh. My. Goodness. AMAZING!!! The vinegar in the broth was PERFECT, I didn’t need to add my own seasonings whatsoever. We also got the fried pork and chili won tons which were also delicious! I’ll definitely make the drive down here as often as possible!! Super happy to support this new small, local business. Also shout out to the service, because it was some of the best I’ve gotten in a long time. So kind!
This place is so good! The noodles are so good, great texture and size. The beef was tender and flavorful and so was the pork. The soup was very good I recommend going spicy if you like the heat! Even with the restaurant being busy it was great and personable service. The tea was good and great energy. Highly recommend the crispy pork as well. The serving size was so good that I still had leftovers! 太好了!
Food A+, service A++. This was our second time here. Great experience both times. The food was super delicious, and the service was amazingly friendly. Lydia was so friendly, she listens to you, understands and help you to have the best experience. Some dishes are really spicy, let them know if you do not like too spicy. My dishes were perfectly well balanced. I highly recommend this family friendly restaurant. We will definitely going there again.

Fantastic foodie spot!! The noodles tastes homemade and had excellent texture and was cooked perfectly. The broth/soup is incredibly flavorful and you can vary the spiciness level!!! Me and my baby mama LOVE the unique slight numbing sensation that you get from the sichuan peppers and the AROMA is amazing!!!! The beef was also super tender and so flavorful that it had my baby mama still thinking about it, hours after we had already left lol. The staff are also really friendly and our food arrived quick, hot, and FRESH. We had a 2 month baby with us and the staff were very kind and understanding. I rarely ever tip 20% but they earned it, IMO. I knew the moment I walked thru the doors and smelled the delicious aroma of the noodle house, that these folks ain't playing around about they noodles. 10/10. Im coming back asap. This is REAL chinese food. Im STILL thinking about their noodles rn😋
This place is a hidden gem for anyone craving authentic Taiwanese noodles. My husband and I have tried other noodle spots, but nothing compares to the fresh, handmade noodles here. I used to be loyal to the beef noodle soup, but the assorted vegetable noodle soup has won me over—both are packed with flavor. We always go for the thick noodles, which add a satisfying taste to every bowl. Everything we’ve tried has been consistently delicious, with rich, savory broth and genuine Taiwanese taste. Parking can be a bit tight on the street, but there’s a convenient lot right across the way. Give this place a try and see for yourself—you won’t be disappointed.
The spicy broth here HITS the spot, like the broths in Asia, which is typically hard to find in the Western world. The owner was so sweet, and the food came quick. The decor and vibe is also really authentic. I can't quite put my finger on what that je ne sais quoi is, but you really do feel transported to Asia for hearty, soul-warming bowl of noodles. What a hidden gem.
I had the spicy beef noodle soup and spicy chicken wings. The chicken wings came out hot and fresh - they were absolutely delicious! The beef in the soup was delicious and tender, and the noodles were the perfect texture. The broth though, was the absolute highlight. It was rich, deep and spicy and I'll be thinking about it and reminiscing for days.
There are very few places that compel you to write a review…not out of obligation, but because not doing so would feel like an injustice. To describe Chong Qing as “a gem” or to say “the food is great” is to profoundly underestimate what this place offers. This food is transformative. It reaches past taste and into memory, identity, and emotion. For a moment, you feel as if you’ve stepped outside of time, like you’ve always belonged to the culture that created this cuisine. There’s a sudden, quiet pride in the generations who perfected these flavors, and an unexpected sense of connection to something far older and deeper than a meal. Then you come back to yourself and realize you’re sitting in Chong Qing, a modest restaurant that somehow manages to infuse history, culture, and soul into every dish in a way most places can only aspire to. This is not just food you enjoy. It is food you experience. Come here. Try it. This place deserves to be felt.

Overall 6/10 (where 5 is average and 10 is the best meal I've ever had) I got the Pickled Vegetables and Shredded Pork soup noodles and a Fried Tofu. Unfortunately the grill wasn't on for skewers (I dined early before dinner rush). Pickled Vegetables and Shredded Pork soup noodles - Broth wasn't that flavorful and looked and tasted a little like boiled dumpling water (which isn't necessarily bad). There was a lot of sesame oil and was too salty - Noodle texture was the saving quality. Great chew. Fried Tofu - There was a lot of tofu in each piece which was great. - It wasn't seasoned well. Quite plain; there was a sort of sweet soy oil at the bottom of the plate but being that it's fried tofu, it wasn't a great mix.
The service was unmatched. The staff was so kind. They saw us with our little one and offered us a little bowl of dumplings on the side. The quality of the Taiwan beef noodles was flavorful and packed with a beautiful balance of noodles and meat. It was a tad bit oily but its nothing unexpected. Their spicy wontons were also really tasty, especially with the vinegar and chili. Overall, the quality and portions were respectable.
I wandered in around 6 PM on a Sunday, finding ample seating and a calm atmosphere. But don't let the initial quiet fool you; within minutes, the place was packed to the brim. Clearly, I wasn't the only one eager for a quality meal. Streamlined Menu, Big Flavors The menu is refreshingly simple, spotlighting a few well-executed dishes. I opted for their most popular items: the Beef Noodle Soup and Spicy Wonton. Wonton: No Hype, Just Flavor The wonton is an immediate standout. Whatever you do, don't skip the broth. It adds layers of flavor, turning each bite into something special. Beef Noodle Soup: More Than Meets the Eye The soup doesn't hold back on portion sizes—loads of chewy noodles and tender beef make up each bowl. While the dish brings a bit of heat, it's not overwhelmingly spicy. Just enough to get you a little flushed by meal's end. Come Hungry or Bring a Friend You get a lot of food here. Consider splitting dishes if you're not super hungry. But if you're like me, you'll already be planning who to bring next time. In short, this place is worth the buzz. I'll be back soon, and I'm bringing friends. If you haven't tried it yet, you're missing out.

Decided to try this place. Nice & bright. Booths not very comfortable, you can't sit back, because you won't be able to reach the table. Food is okay, had soup bowls of noodles with brisket. Noodles themselves were good, had a nice texture to them. Ordered Five Spice Edamame....got them, but NO spices at all, just regular boiled edamame. Wanted to order items off the BBQ list...NOTHING AVAILABLE! Server not very pleasant!!! I did asked about the edamame without the five spice. The cook (maybe the owner) came over and was kind enough to bring us a complementary dish of cucumbers which were good. Food took awhile to get. No greetings once walking in, took awhile to place order and it was extremely loud in restaurant.
