Awesome brunch spot. We had the biscuits & gravy $16. It comes in a bowl with two fried eggs. That was great. The rest were bacon, lettuce, avocado tomato $16, chicken pesto pizza $24, croissant $3.50 and sliders $18. The food did take a while to come out after we ordered at the counter. They get busy during brunch hours from the spillover crowd. Next door is a brewery. After our brunch, we took a walk around the warehouses to burn off the calories. I wish we took our bicycles with us. There's some nice bicycles paths around.
Friendly spot, good music, big open space in former hangar. Pastries are top notch and food looks great. Coffee is okay. Ample parking and sunny outdoor seating available.
Yummy drinks, good atmosphere and chill staff. Went here to work with friends and ended up staying most of the day! Plenty of seating, some wall outlets, and good WiFi Would recommend trying some of their yummy pastries too :)
One of my favorite breakfast/lunch spots on the island!! Their pastries are out of this world. I always show up too late to order a toast plate (they’re only served up until a certain time), but there are SO MANY other delicious options! The veggie burger is one of my personal favorites, along with the peanut butter and banana smoothie. And the people behind the counter are always super kind and down to earth.
Quick Summary: Large variety of quality breads, pastries, and drinks, tasty food menu with seasonal and holiday specials, served in a relaxed, modern space with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Parking is easy. My experience here has been consistently positive, with friendly staff and a clean space. The baked goods: So many options! Pre-sliced loaves of bread, baguettes, savory pastries, sweet pastries, muffins, cookies, pretzels, gorgeous pullman croissant loaves, they have it all. My top favorites are the savory kouign amann, the classic croissant, the ham and cheese croissant, and the blackberry cream cheese danish. They can heat your pastries up upon request as well. The food: The crispy pork breakfast sandwich with jam on a biscuit is a real treat. It's stuffed with pork and the biscuits are so fluffy and flavorful with crispy edges. If you love the biscuits, you can get it in the form of biscuits and sausage gravy which is equally as satisfying. The wagyu roast beef sandwich is another solid choice with recently improved fries that are crispy on the outside and fluffy on in the inside. The mushroom toast is loaded, and the chicken tortilla soup with house-fried tortilla chips packs a flavorful punch. The drinks: All the tea and coffee drinks my partner and I have tried have been good. The ube latte is a favorite, and the seasonal drinks are always fun to try. I don't drink coffee, so I've tried the maple, buko pandan, and hazelnut drinks as steamers. The flavors are always spot on!
Wonderful place to get breakfast, fresh bread and pastries. It gets very busy so be prepared for lines. The indoor seating is limited but they have plenty of outdoor tables. The food is delicious. I am definitely gonna come back and try their lunch menu.
Such a good spot for lunch! The bakery dishes were so good as well. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating
Checked out Firebrand for the first time on a Sunday right before Noon. This was during the weekend of the Electrify Expo and their menu was modified because of this. They were busy and the line was long and went outside but we decided to stick with it and try them out. Had the sausage, egg & cheese breakfast sammie on biscuit. Overall it was delicious. The biscuit was very crumbly and the sammie fell apart. But the biscuit was yummy and we still consumed. Also had the Pico de Gallo Potatoes- added bacon and avocado to it. Very tasty and huge portion. Honestly couldn’t believe how large the portion was so we had leftovers. Brought home a sourdough baguette (yum!), Gruyère Pretzel Bomb (yum!), Hatch Green Chile Cornbrean Muffin (yum! And couldn’t pass it up because you rarely see Hatch green Chile items here in the Bay), and a Matcha Croissant (it was ok. I’m realizing I’m not enjoying matcha items like before). Didn’t get any on this visit, but if you haven’t had a pretzel from Firebrand- what are you waiting for? Their pretzels are thee best. Service was friendly. Plenty of seating indoors and out. Definitely will return to eat there and also bring bread and other goodies home. So glad they’re finally open!
Their pizza is not pizza napoletana if that's what you're expecting. Of course, I keep an open mind that there are many styles of pizza. Firebrand's pizza style is more focused on cheese with a nice melt and stringiness, which was appealing in its own way.
Firebrand Bread's recently opened location in Alameda is everything you expect if you’ve visited their Oakland location: beautiful interior design, fun ambiance, buzzing energy, excellent pastries and great coffee. The place was buzzing with energy, and it was evident that both staff and customers were genuinely enjoying themselves. Now, let's talk about the star of the show – the pastries. Oh, my goodness! I loved the Nutella Kouign amann- just divine! Plenty of parking. Safe place for kids with minimal car traffic and plenty of space to spread out or be loud. In conclusion, Firebrand Bread's new location in Alameda is a must-visit for anyone looking for a delightful pastry and coffee experience. The beautiful interior, fun ambiance, and buzzing energy create the perfect setting is just delightful.

Such a great bakery. I've been a customer of theirs since they opened they shop on Broadway in Oakland years ago. When we moved to the Island, I was not that enthused by the two bakeries here. A few years later Firebrand opened up on the old Naval Base and Zi was ecstatic. All their baked goods are so delectable. We've come here for brunch several times and there hasn't been anything we didn't like or that they did poorly. Breakfast sammies are filling and satisfying, or if you want something a bit less hearty but still on the savory side, their scone, herbed cheese pretzel or ham - cheese croissant fills that void. I have been happy with any of the assorted sweet pastries I have had here, ranging from their kouign amann, classic and filed croissants, danishes, and cookies. We haven't tried their pizzas or sandwiches aside from the breakfast options, but I have complete certainty they are also crafted well. We've been tried their smoothies and lattes, and those were also pleasers too, the former a hit wth kids in particular. You certainly get your value and quality for what you pay for here at Firebrand, and to top it off they have a nice outdoor seating area with lots of picnic benches and tables. I have greeted many a friendly pup and cute toddlers here so unless you're allergic to either of those, consider yourself informed!

I really enjoy the food here. The biscuits are great, the Caesar salad is top notch. The Pullman croissant loaf is inexplicable and delicious - the best French toast bread you can buy. Only downside is the lack of shade for the outside seating.
Went to Firebrand Artisan Breads's Alameda location recently, which is always a great excuse to eat more pastries! 😆 Seating inside is kind of awkward, as it's positioned around the ordering line, but there's also an outside patio. Be sure to bring a sweater, though, because you never know how much of a breeze is going to kick up on that end of Alameda. My friend went for the BLT, made on Firebrand bread, of course! I opted for the spicy chicken sandwich, and it was fantastic! So flavorful without going over my spice limit. The dressing for the side salads was quite nice as well, though I do prefer when a salad is more than just lettuce. Of course, there's also those pretty pastries! I split them with Ben later on. My favorite was probably the espresso buckwheat chocolate chip cookie, which had the right amount of bitterness for me to combine with the sweet. The matcha croissant was filled to the brim inside with a very creamy matcha sauce. Quite tasty! But you do lose the bread in the midst of that cream. The hazelnut chocolate kouign amann hit the spot, and its filling was also creamier than I expected. I'm glad Firebrand could expand to Alameda!
New restaurant alert ! After finding out about this cafe on Alameda Peeps my family went to check out Saturday morning. Big mistake...as others thought the same thing! Really happy for this new food addition on the base and with great hours and look forward to them figuring out how to manage crowds. In the mean time have lots and lots of patience! It was our fault as we decided to come knowing it was new and with a toddler and newborn no less so our party got antsy for an hour wait for food. Everything we had was very tasty though. Lots of pastries even loaves of bread if you want it. What we ordered: - iced matcha latte (I needed to add some sugar) - matcha croissant that had matcha filling inside. So good. - Chocolate chip and oatmeal cookies (crispy edges with soft middle - perfection) - avocado toast - Pork with blackberry jam breakfast sandwich with egg . Yummm. Potatoes that it came with were very crispy and tasty. Good portions as I packed half home Other things to note: - pretty awesome that they serve lunch and dinner - right across from Bladium so that crowd is coming in too - tables inside and outside. Outside picnic tables are dog friendly - parking available in the lot right out front - no changing table in bathroom (would suggest putting one in!) I know there's a spot in Oakland too - welcome to Alameda!

Their goat cheese pretzels (and very likely all their pretzels) are garbage. I was starving and still couldn't finish it. My friend got the savory Danish though and loved it so begrudgingly giving 3 stars

Wow. I don’t usually post, but today I had the worst eclair I’ve ever had. The cream was over whipped into butter that tasted rancid, and the choux pastry was soft and stale. The chocolate was okay. The cortado was actually a latte. The half and half was empty, and I was offered whole milk instead of a half and half refill. Customer service was not offered in any authentic or even inauthentic way.
Fresh food is pretty good here, but the bagged slices of bread was moldy... The bread is completely covered in mold and we havent even opened it yet.

I really like the breads and pastries here but they always seem to be out of stock by late morning. What gets me though is the incredibly rude older “gentleman” who works the register. He always seems salty when being asked a question, cuts people off when ordering, and is in general quite unpleasant to interact with. Today I asked for muffins, they didn’t have a set of six for sale but he wouldn’t sell me the individual ones unless in a $18 sandwich. His attitude in conveying this information, however, was dismissive and condescending and not fitting for a business with strong community support. The other people at the register are relatively nice, but after several unpleasant interactions, he has made it so that I will seriously rethink patronizing Firebrand in the future.

We ordered chicken fingers for my 2 year old son and we took them home. As he was eating them, I was passing by and noticed how one of them was RAW. Not even pink but completely RAW. This is completely unacceptable and irresponsible and my kid could get salmonella because of this.

First time visiting today with my family around 4:30. Was so excited to try this place as I pass by it all the time. The older man working did not want to help me. He looked upset that he had to. I told him what I wanted and he took my order and without considering the rest of my family, walks away and starts ringing me up. I was so shocked. When I asked him for another item, he had the most disgusted look on his face, and said as he pointed to the pastries - “ok, but will there be any thing else you want from here?” I was so upset. Obviously, we are a family of 4, so yes, we would all like something. I left so upset- what an awful experience. Do better, Firebrand.
