Our absolute go-to when we lived in the area. The best Japanese curry I’ve had period, with a katsu that came out perfect every time I got it.
Tasty food. Ate here twice in one week. Teppan Pork Curry was delicious and filling. The Spicy Pork Belly Miso Ramen was also very tasty although the pork was a bit chewy compared to most ramen I've had. Service is great and I like the ambiance.
First time here. Menu offered curry and ramen choices. I chose the veggie (broccoli and tofu) curry with brown rice. Large portion came out quickly and was quite tasty. Plate included a small salad. I will definitely be back.
I'm not a curry expert but this place is delicious. I haven't had a bad dish here yet, and the prices are pretty good . Perfect size plates for people who are hungry and for small groups of friends. The spice level of the food is on the lower side, so if you're looking for a super kick of spice this place isn't for you. If you do want more spice or spices then you can just ask and they will gladly give you more. There is also a pretty good sake and beer menu to choose from , and they won't break the bank while doing so. We come here occasionally with groups of 4-5 and with food and drinks it's roughly 15$~ per person.
In our experience we had quick service and tasty Curry. We had the medium just in case but I think we could've gotten the next step up, we like spicy. The chicken katsu was crunchy and juicy, and the veggie Curry ramen had a very tasty variety of veggies and yummy Curry soup. Definitely worth visiting again when I'm in town.
Great tonkatsu ramen! The noodles were nice and chewy, just the way I like them. The broth was really good, and it had a generous amount of side items included. I was also able to try their curry, and I did enjoy it! I'll be coming back again to try out some other items on their menu! Expect a small wait, but it'll totally be worth it!
This place is downright delicious. I highly recommend the chicken katsu curry plate + a ramen to share for two. The chicken katsu was so juicy and perfectly fried and the curry sauce was mild, almost a little sweet, and was full of comfort. I also had Tan Tan ramen but would probably try a different one next time -- maybe classic miso. The staff was friendly and passionate about their food. The restaurant was also empty so it felt very intimate. Highly recommend!
This place is super cute! Service is quick and food is good. We got the chashu buns (appetizer) which were like Chinese Peking duck wraps with chashu that was a bit dry. The chashu in the chashu teppan ramen was great tho! It’s definitely really cool how they use the teppan with the curry pour over!
Amazing curry. I got the hamburger teppan curry with squid ink added to my curry which was definitely worth it. They bring the curry out on a cast iron skillet with a layer of egg omelette around the rice, and then pour curry on top of the egg. The rice and meat portions are super generous, almost to the point where I wished I had more curry to eat it with. Honestly the best curry I've ever had, and service was on point too.
Our go-to spot for Japanese curry. Best in SF! The crew are always nice and friendly. We’ve never had a bad experience.
So yummy, I love the ramen here it’s to die for. It’s got a very specific chill vibe and for San Francisco it’s relatively cheap. We got two ramens, an order of rice, chicken katsu and an egg. In total (not counting tip) it was only 37 dollars.
The area is a little hard to park but the food is quite good. Would be nice to have some salad with the meal.
Hit up this Japanese spot in Burlingame and it was honestly such a solid choice. I ordered the Cherry Blossom sushi roll and the Pork Teriyaki Rice, and both were on point. The Cherry Blossom roll was super fresh — it had this perfect combo of tuna, salmon, and avocado with just the right amount of rice. The fish was buttery and smooth, and the whole thing was topped with this light drizzle of sauce that gave it a nice kick without overpowering the flavor. Really clean and balanced. Now the pork teriyaki rice? So good. The pork was tender, juicy, and had that caramelized edge from the teriyaki glaze. It came on a bed of fluffy white rice that soaked up all the sauce — every bite was flavorful. The vibe in the place was chill too — not too loud, staff was super friendly, and everything came out pretty quick. Definitely a spot I’d go back to.
Went for lunch and was seated quickly. The pork katsu w/curry and egg tasted great too!
This is definitely the place everyone should go to get their Japanese comfort food. I can’t stop thinking about meal after I ate it for the first time. I ordered the fried chicken curry hot plate and it was so delicious. The spice level is very mild. I ordered medium spicy and it wasn’t very spicy at all. The curry tasted so rich and delicious. The agedashi tofu and seaweed salad were also very fresh and everything was perfectly seasoned.
Very calm lighting and atmosphere, very pleasant I loved it. Food is delicious, you can make the curry spicy which is great: Service was lovely. All around ten out of ten experience. Will be coming again!
Authentic ramen with a creative twist - serving curry and ramen in the same bowl! My friends got the curry ramen but I got the "California" ramen, basically a deconstructed sushi roll with crab, seaweed, avocado, and cucumber. Udon noodles had amazing texture, slimy but with a nice al dente bite. Didn't have to wait long on a Friday night, quick in and out.
I've been to a lot of ramen places, this place is definitely in my top 3. Great selection of ramen that both taste great and authentic. They also have a great selection of japanese curry and bubble tea. It's a bit on the small side so might be crowded during lunch.
This place is so cute!!! We came in on a Saturday at lunchtime and I was surprised to see no one else in the restaurant 😢 only two people went in for pickup But other than that, the ambiance is cute and the place is very simple. The curry was pretty good and it's a one of a kind way to eat it with a stone plate. It was really enjoyable because the curry and rice stayed nice and warm for the whole meal! I think that was the best part. Will definitely come back again
Fumi Curry & Ramen is a really nice local spot! Their service is quick and attentive, and the food is super flavorful and satisfying!
My favorite restaurant in SF. Period. This is my go-to place to take friends that visit and nobody has been disappointed yet. Their curry tastes unique and packs plenty of flavor! It has to be THE best curry I have ever tasted. I never get tired of coming here. Order any of the Teppan curries. The skillet makes it that much better!!!
Excellent Japanese curry spot! If you dine in, the spectacle and flavour of sizzling teppan curry can't be beat. I got the chicken breast katsu which was quite tender and certainly delicious in the egg-curry sauce. The crispy rice at the bottom of the teppan is also a delight. The only criticism is that the chicken maybe could've been brined before for flavour but that's being picky. Ordered takeout curry rice before and it was really solid, good portions!
Fumi makes a tasty teppan curry rice. When my fish katsu teppan curry $15.50 arrived, it was sizzling. The waiter poured the curry sauce on top of the iron pan activating that aromatic curry smell. If you take away the razzle dazzle of the sounds and smell of a teppan, it is still a good Chinese kitchen Japanese curry. I can't speak for the ramen though. For my teppan curry, I wish there was an option to add carrots, fukujinzuke (chopped daikon, eggplant, lotus root relish), potato, string beans or onions of the curry into the sauce like the curry houses in Tokyo. Fumi got the thick consistency of a Japanese curry correct. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Good job waiter and kitchen staff.
The teppan curry is amazing with crispy rice and concentrated curry sauce! Could easily have been a 5 star place in Tokyo. Definitely get it one level hotter than you think. It's mild.
The best Japanese curry in the city

Fumi is perfect comfort food. Their teppan curry is absolutely the thing to get!! The hamburger (delicious mix of pork and beef) is on point. I like getting it extra spicy just to add a bit more flavor.
Best food I have ever had you must try the chicken curry rice. It‘s has to be the best on the menu! If you know you know

Not the best Japanese curry that I've ever had (though I've , been lucky to taste some straight from Japan) but definitely tasty food for the value. The dishes are very hearty and comforting. Very friendly service and comfy, clean ambiance! I'd definitely come back.
Quick and friendly service. Large space in the back for groups. Flavorless Spicy Miso Pork soup. I want to try the regular pork but am scared to spend another $20 for flavorless soup.
Dan Dan Noodle is flavor-packed, a rich spicy broth coating every slurp of ramen noodle. On a separate visit, the Curry Ramen was mostly on point: rich broth, chewy noodles, portion size. But as ramen’s simplicity often requires nothing short of perfection, a few minor flaws can seem bigger than what they are. Cold vegetable add-ons should have been dipped in boiling water prior to garnishing, pork katsu should have been served on bone dry plate to ensure crispiness of bottom layer. Nevertheless, despite these minor shortfalls, this cozy outpost is worth considering a neighborhood go-to, at the foot of Bernal.
It's a homey place. There aren't many Japanese places that serve curry. The pork katsu was crispy. There was egg under all the sauce too on a hot plate. The Ramen had a pork base, corn, bamboo shoots, pork belly. I added an egg for $2. I always love bamboo shoots so I wish there was more.
Decent broth, good toppings. Chashu is a touch dry and sliced very thinly. Noodles were a bit soft and floppy. Presentation was nice and the service was quick. Sides were cheap and delicious, try the garlic broccoli.

Review here is only for the curry, we have yet to try their other dishes. I'm a huge Japanese curry fan and it's hard to find curry specialty houses around here. Their curry isn't the best I've had, but nevertheless hits home when I want that warm comfort food. We usually get the hamburg steak - the hamburg itself is okay, pretty juicy but not the most flavorful. It's more of a patty than a real Asian hamburg steak. So overall, do I wish it was a little more authentic/tastier? Yes. But it's my best bet in SF, so I will still go if I want to eat Japanese curry.
A generic ramen restaurant. The food was solid, we ordered one of the udon soups and a seaweed salad (we didn't try curries). The interior was clean, the food, prices, decor were exactly as expected. I liked the long opening hours. Nothing more, nothing less; nothing disappointed, but nothing stood out. I will come here again if I am specifically looking for Japanese food around Bernal Heights but probably not otherwise.
Fun idea to make the curry teppanyaki style. Get that camera ready as the waiter pours the sauce and the curry sizzles in your face. Unfortunately the chicken katsu was nothing amazing. I think the hot plate added a slight burnt flavor to the sauce, which I didn't prefer. You can blacken your curry for $2.50 but I wouldn't recommend it. It tastes the same and all you'll get is black teeth.
