It’s always a long waiting line here but it’s worth it. A yum yum brunch will open your sleepy eyes widely. 🤤 The waiters are very friendly. Love the daily homemade jam. 🍓🫐

It's a must have when you visit SF. The community feel to the place allows you to get to meet other diners. We were lucky enough to sit with the owner and chewed the fat with him and his friend. Was expecting a long line and there was only a couple ahead of us.

Stopped by Mama’s as we walked the area (San Francisco Telegraph Hill and Washington Square). We passed by initially due to a line of patrons waiting for seats. On our return, there were a couple tables open so we went in. Appeared to be a local spot, with many customers having conversations with staff. Although not a local, we were welcomed as one, and all gave their inputs and feedback, whether that was best seats available or favorites on the menu. We got seated in a great corner booth. For food, we went with specials off the menu: Seafood benedicts and Trio French Toast (One of each Swedish Cinnamon, Cranberry-orange, banana walnut breads). We also tried the favorite Mama’s smoothie. All orders were delicious! The overall experience was great, staff were friendly and food was excellent! Definitely recommend. Note that the menu shared in photos was from the 1950s and a memory lane item on the walls.

Lovely restaurant for a brunch! The quality was good, we all enjoyed our food. The servers were super friendly and they took a great care of us. We’ll be back for sure! Just to let you know, there was a line in a Saturday morning, but we waited almost 30 mins only, so plan for it if you are are in a rush.

This is an excellent place for breakfast. The freshly made jelly on toasted sourdough is excellent. I loved the northwest omellette with smoked salmon and capers. The eggs Benedict are also delicious. We enjoyed eating outdoors and enjoying the lovely weather. The staff were all very friendly and courteous.

The line was worth the wait! We didn’t have to wait long, maybe 20-25 minutes. They have a great system/ flow in place to keep things moving. Breakfast was phenomenal! We got a berry & banana smoothie, egg & shrimp benedict, and the French toast sampler. Go here in you have the chance! Absolutely recommend!

My friends and I had a Sunday morning brunch here and we LOVED it. Mama’s on Washington Square is an iconic historic gem in SF. They had their very first menu on the wall and it was so interesting to see inflation in action. The food was good. Atmosphere was very welcoming and cute. The service was very fast. They do not ask/charge for tips :) The only downside was the line to get in. We were probably waiting for 20-30 minutes.

WE WERE SO LUCKY!!! My wife and I were scooting around on Saturday morning looking for breakfast. I've always know about Mama's but the line outside was always a deterrent. By chance, we passed Mama's and there was no line. My eye jumped off and went inside. I parked my Vespa and she came rushing out telling me that there was a table. Awesome!!! It was my first time eating here. I've know of it since the 90s and finally I would be able to enter. The restaurant is very SF and very tidy. The staff were super nice and very attentive. The coffee was pretty decent too. I had the French Toast sampler and my wife had the breakfast sandwich. Both items were excellent. Thanks for a wonderful time this morning Mama's!

Visited Mama’s on Washington Square for brunch and was honestly very disappointed, especially considering how much we paid and the long wait. The overall food quality was below average. The French toast was overly sweet and the bread didn’t seem cooked properly — it still tasted eggy inside. The desserts were excessively sweet and not balanced at all. The vegetable sandwich was extremely basic and disappointing; the bread wasn’t even toasted and it felt like a cold, rushed sandwich rather than a proper dish. Given the waiting time, price, and food quality, the experience was a total letdown. I wouldn’t say the food justifies the hype or the cost.

Great spot for brunch in north beach! The line moves quickly but can be confusing- line up outside and they’ll call you in when ready. Then line up at the counter until it’s your turn to order. The menu is spread across several spots and it can be difficult to read with the guests, staff, and shelving in the way. You order and pay before sitting down. Sometimes there isn’t a table so you need to find a spot to awkwardly stand while the staff tries to get around you. The food itself is good! Nothing crazy. I love the pancakes. The omelet was good and had tons of bacon inside. The real standout was the homemade jam. It’s phenomenal! I could drink it. Worth a try if you’re in the neighborhood.

This place was a real treat in San Francisco. On a busy Sunday morning, my friend and I waited about 30 minutes in line. Like many restaurants in the city, it’s a bit small, but they have the menu posted on the window so you can decide what to order while you wait. Once we got to the front of the line, we moved to the cashier and waited a little longer to place our order. After ordering, we were given a number to put at our table. We shared an Italian scramble, French toast, and a breakfast sandwich with sausage. Our food came out in about 15 minutes, though the sausage took a little longer because they forgot it at first. From the first bite, we were happy—the food was full of flavor, the bread had the perfect texture, and the French toast was just sweet enough. Overall, the meal was fantastic, and I highly recommend this spot. The food was great, and it really captures the vibe of San Francisco!

I genuinely don’t get the hype… Been here a few times, but the wait line is always long, the price is outrageous, and the food is just mediocre brunch. I pass by here every morning and really want to understand the hype, but I just don’t get it 😶‍🌫️

My dining experience was underwhelming. After a 30-minute wait, I found the food to be quite bland, and the bagel was noticeably dry, suggesting it wasn't fresh. While the atmosphere was charming and the server was welcoming, the food's quality didn't align with the price point. I wouldn't recommend waiting in line for this experience.

*Day 2* ⚠️️ I wish I had never seen the customer washroom facilities on my second day of the visit. The route to the washroom is through their kitchen and on to an alley. The route is extremely unpleasant and exposes how messy/dirty stuffs behind the beautiful restaurant front. You then seriously start to question the hygiene standards of the entire food making process. As paying customers, I think we are entitled to at least half a decent washroom experience in addition to the food we consume. Therefore, with regret I can only give 2 stars, which is a real shame. I strongly hope they will remedy the washroom experience. *Day 1* Two of us went here for breakfast and had a fabulous time. The staff who welcomed us were very polite and friendly. We ordered some coffee, sausage omelette with sourdough bread, and buttermilk pancakes with seasonal berries for our breakfast everything was really tasty and filling (good portion sizes). They also served us some homemade jam, which was really tasty. Thank you.
