Those chicken sandwiches are truly spectacular. Always worth a visit.
I highly recommend there beef Gyudon, Guydon is one of my favorite japanese and overall dish and they by far do it the best. happy to live across the street, the neighborhood needed this.
This place is so charming and so convenient. Everything is prepared that day and is super fresh. I’m obsessed with their spam and egg musubi. Also the owners are so sweet and always give my dog a little onigiri of her own ✨
Basing this review solely on the cauliflower katsu. It's a giant slice of delicious spicy fried cauliflower served with chips. Big enough for two or a satisfying meal for one very hungry person.
How spoiled am I to have this little shop of delights a few blocks from my front door? Onigiri, Masubi, and Katsu o my. I’d advise coming hungry or bringing a friend the portions are generous and amazingly paired with a genuinely warm and welcoming staff. Also amazing merch, really can’t say enough positive things about my local mini mart :)
The breakfast burrito is the best breakfast burrito ive ever had in my life. I could eat it every single day. Its so delicious! And you MUST get the house made spicy sauce to pair with it.
Mama Yoshi is so cute! Their breakfast burritos and sandwiches are nice and filling, their market items are fun, and they support other local businesses! Only downside is the size — it’s a little cramped in there. I wish they had more space for seating or grocery items, but that’s just what it is!
The breakfast burrito is really really good. I like the quantity of perfect fluffy pillowy eggs. I also like how consistent they are, pretty much every burrito I've ever had here has tasted the exact same. Breakfast burrito could use a touch of moisture / acid / sugar to balance out the richness / salt (they have sriracha and ketchup) Otherwise hours are a bit short so I can't go as often as I want.
This little Japanese food mart is a hidden gem in Ridgewood, Queens. Their chicken katsu sandwiches are to die for, so huge and fresh and crispy. They also have some bottled drinks imported from Japan called yuzu. Their prices are very reasonable - the chicken katsu sandwich or chicken katsu curry bowl can easily feed 2 people, the serving size is so huge. We were here for lunch on a sunny Autumn day and it was heavenly to bake in the warm sun outdoors. Definitely coming back to this place!
Finally walked by this place when it was open! If you don't know the hours once we're sparce but this place is worth checking out if your lucky to catch them. Many fun food options like Katsu breakfast burritos which I hadn't seen on a menu in Bushwick. Plus they have brands I haven't seen since my childhood. I will be coming back.
Very homey place with a delicious menu. The sandwich was quite filling, with the huge piece of katsu that can't fit in the bun. A different take on a crispy chicken sandwich. There are benches to sit inside and tables outside. Overall, would come here again if I'm craving a chicken sandwich!
I got the Spicy Chicken Katsu Sandwich for $15, enough to feed 2, it’s a delicious Chicken Katsu Cutlet sandwich, with an EXTRA spicy dry rub, pickles, pickled onions and spicy mayo. A delicious crispy juicy HOT experience of a cheat meal. In my opinion best Chicken Sandwich in NYC. I couldn't leave the joint without my fix of Japanese condiments and ice cream.
I went on their soft launch and everything was delicious, and it's only gotten better since. The chicken sandwiches are huge and delicious. The spam grilled cheese is the ultimate comfort food and so good. And I'm picky about egg salad but theirs is so good! Truly never had anything bad from there and they're always brining new stuff in so it's exciting everytime you go in because what new yummy treat will you discover!
Spam musubi is good! The egg sando which i thought might be the same when i was in Japan but no. If you are a fan of wasabi, much of the taste is in the egg sando. Overall it's a great place to grab a quick to go :)
I expected a little better for some reason. The staff is friendly and there’s some seating inside and outside. Lots of little Asian treats. But the chicken sandwich was crunchy almost to the point of being dried out. My onigiri barely had any filling so I barely touched it. I also picked up 2 single serving mochi and one of them must’ve had a hole in the bag or gone bad because it was hard and I tossed that too. I will say I was happy with the sausage and for the price you do get a decent serving size.
Mama Yoshi Mini Mart Layout/atmosphere *Japanese theme/style convenience store; two four seat window counters; tables on sidewalk behind gate Food/drink *UCC Green Tea - no taste *Pickled Cucumbers & Wabame - Good; refreshing; thin slices *SPAM Breakfast Burrito (eggs, potatoes, American cheese) with house made hot sauce - Good; eggs, meat cooked well; hot sauce looked like a green chili sauce (definitely a kick) *Lupe Chocolate Chunk Cookie - Good; salted; soft
Unfortunately, the katsu in the katsudon was perfectly 50/50 ratio of chicken to breading ratio and there was not enough sauce. From a grab and go for purely sustenance perspective, it's fine. Honestly was pleasantly surprised to see the big slab of katsu, and katsudon is soggy by nature, but the sheer volume of breading made it really an unfortunate experience. Chicken breast is okay, but the chicken breast isn't trimmed to be "flat" so you'll get a big bite of pure, soggy batter.
It was cool. Staff is super friendly. Layout is dope. Super quick service. Only tried the Spicy Chicken Katsu Sando. Chicken was good, but idk if $15 for a sandwich and potato chips is justifiable. Just my personal opinion. I’m big on price to value ratio. Would either expect fries and a drink for $15 + tax or if it costs $9, would completely justify it. Just my personal take.
